We chose to sit outside cause it was nice weather (and to be honest, it kinda smelled off to me inside. But I have a sensitive nose). My husband ordered a wrap and I ordered the falafel plate. I was having gum pain at the time and noticed the falafel was extra hard. It tasted good but was a little overcooked. The hummus was good too. The tomatoes and bell peppers were cut so big so it wasn't very appetizing to me. And if you need to use their bathroom, be warned it is not the cleanest. Visiting my old campus stomping grounds I have my favs but I had an impulse to grab a bite of something new (to me). This was along our walk and it appealed to my international tastebuds. On the owner's recommendation I ordered the chicken schawarma. At $11 it seemed a little steep. The sandwich arrived, nicely warmed and in barely 5 minutes. The outside of the wrap had a bit of a crunch (unusual?) and the inside was reasonably ladled with tender chicken, onions, and good seasonings. It wasn't the best schawarma I've ever had (could have used more chicken and a variety of veggies), but it was decent and, at a solid foot in length, filling too. The inside is small with one table for about 5-6 to squeeze around and then there are counters circumnavigating the side walls and front window with a total of about 7-8 stools. There are also two tables outside with 4 chairs each and that's where we all sat - perfect for a 75 degree mid-September afternoon. There is a tiny bathroom, located down a steep, narrow staircase, that is only for patrons. Parking is difficult with just a handful of meters right outside the restaurant but with its on-campus location, this is primarily a walk-up restaurant. This is a little hole in the wall place that serves good. It has one table that sits 6 people and high top chairs around the three walls. One wall has mirrors hung on it so you can see the area behind you which was nice. The seating is very tight. Service was fast and courteous. We ordered a falafel sandwich and a garden salad along with a bottle of water and a cherry coke. The food was tasty and satisfying. The prices were reasonable for the area. They are not inexpensive considering it is a college town with the majority of its clients college kids, but I would say it was reasonably priced. My falafel sandwich was $9.99. The falafel tasted good and was married up with tzatziki sauce. My only complaint is that the sauce was a bit runny and should be thicker. The garden salad was large for $11.99, and was accompanied by a nice dressing. We enjoyed our food and were full when done. Definitely would visit again if in the area. read more

I'm in-between 3 and 4 starts but went with 4 for now because the falafel itself was very good and everything appeared fresh and had good presentation. First visit here for me, I initially came in wanted to get a chicken shawarma but the menu pictures just didn't seem right with shredded chicken. I went with a falafel and decided to get something called Meghan's Falafel Pita Wrap - the potato and the hot sauce just didn't do it for me but you could definitely tell that the falafel itself was very good. I'll get the regular falafel next time! The "4 Piece Spinach Pies" - well first, the shell is like biting into a pita wrap. For some reason I thought it would be a crispy phyllo texture. The show stopper for me though was that it was very sour. I thought it was going to taste like the traditional greek spinach pie made with phyllo and feta cheese but this one was very sour. Not sure whether I got a bad batch or maybe that is the way it is supposed to taste here.... I did like that it came with cucumbers, pickles and tomatoes though, very good presentation and taste. Went to Pita Kabob Grill by chance one day when some friends and I had been hanging out on the Diag. Its location was super convenient, but it's easy to see how you could miss it if you weren't looking for it! From the moment we walked in, the experience was great, the staff was very chill, patient and helpful as we tried to make our selections from their menu. They've got a very diverse menu and there's something for basically everyone. Among my friend group we had people who were Vegan and people who were on Low Carb diets and we all found things to eat pretty easily. There's not a ton of indoor seating as the restaurant is pretty small, but it's adequate for what it is, and there are a couple of tables with chairs outside. Once you've ordered, the food arrives fairly quickly too. Overall the food tastes great, it's a good value, and it's close to campus! Low Carb/ Keto folks: There are tons of options for you here, but they are rice heavy, so ask for a substitute or get a larger dish to compensate. Okay honestly, i wasn't sure about this place. I came to ann arbor from LA. Was really craving shawarma one night. Decided to uber eats from this place. Got the beef shawarma and lentil soup. First of all, the beef shawarma did not look like regular shawarma off the pit. It could have been a piece of steak that they cut up and grilled. I also ordered the Broccoli-b-toum pita version too, but I didn't get a chance to try that because my family took that one so I missed out. (GRRR!) Just the regular falafel pita was delicious, better than I expected it to be. And it was a pretty adequate size for the price, it was filling and tasted great. Although I wonder how it compares to other places I've been to which are a tad cheaper and the size may be similar, but I think here the pita sandwich is probably a tad bigger. Got a bunch of falafel, the lentil soup,and 2 combo plays with chicken, kofte, lamb schwarma, and beef schwarma. The lentil soup was good and the falafel is decent. However, the meat platters were not that good. The Schwarma and chicken were generally dry and not flavorful. The kofte was decent, but still not as moist and mouthwatering as I would like. We had falafel, hummus, pitas and rice-stuffed grape leaves delivered (by Uber eats). The falafel was very dense and larger than I am used to but very flavorful. Great hummus dressed nicely with oil and a paprika(?) sprinkle. They serve the falafel with cucumber, tomato and dill pickle slices. Ann Arbor has such a bounty of pita restaurants that it's hard for any of them to really stand out. Pita Kabob Grill succeeds by offering delivery to a wider area and staying open later than most of the competition. However, I can't really justify giving them more than three stars even though I order from them fairly regularly. Their food is better than some but too consistently dry (from the falafel to the rice to the lamb) or one-note (the spicy eggplant and the lamb, again, are the worst offenders) to recommend it on its own. Other reviewers have accused them of reheating their food, and I can see how that would make the hot foods kind of hard and dry on the outside, but maybe it's just what I get for ordering delivery? That said, the roasted cauliflower and garlic sauce are both very good, and their pickles are some of my favorites. It's definitely possible to get a good meal delivered from here. It's just more likely you'll get an okay meal. read more

I ordered the lamb shawarma platter, lunch size, for $12.99. I love how they paid attention to the details. The vegetables are slightly caramelized but still crunchy. I would say, however, that the lamb itself doesn't stand out and might be a little dry. They give you pitas on the side, and it comes with either salad or soup. The lentil soup is creamy and intensely flavorful. The staff are super relaxed and nice, and it's a great experience. Service is a little slow, especially since it seemed like they were making most of their food for delivery when I got there (around 11pm). The entire restaurant smells amazing, and I noticed that the surfaces are kept really clean. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place after years of coming here. This is one of my favorite spots around state street, and in my opinion, the best place to get falafel in A2. The falafel is so crispy and crunchy on the outside, but not mushy on the inside or anything. Also, I wish I could smother their garlic spread on my life because it makes everything better! My favorites are the falafel burger and Meghan's pita. These are really filling and you get a ton of food for the price. If you like spicy but not fire, you'll really like the Meghan's. It has hot sauce, the garlic sauce, FRIES, and falafel. The perfect pita basically. It does take a while to get your food since there isn't a huge staff, so make sure you bring something to do while you're there. The price for food makes your wallet really happy as the food is phenomenal. It is definitely a fast food and I really like the tight small knit food place where I can just embrace the nice music they play. I really really recommend this place. I would not really recommend groups going unless it is a pick and go kind of thing. The bathroom is a little weird because you have to go through the kitchen and like pass the storage room. We came here after a Michigan basketball game and couldn't have been more disappointed. I'm guessing the great reviews have come from college students that have never had quality Middle Eastern food. And, to be honest, I came with one of my buddies that's 350 pounds and lives off McDonald's and Arbys. He couldn't take more than a few bites because the food had no flavor. The staff was nice and friendly. The food was overpriced and bland. I ordered the mixed platter: chicken and beef shawarma. It was more bland than boiled chicken and that's no exaggeration. The portions were more than acceptable and they better be for how expensive this was compared to the quality. I took a few bites, ate the veggies and tossed the rest. The rice tasted like regular white rice, not your traditional Middle Eastern rices.
