It was just ok. Nothing amazing. We came to the art fair and needed dinner so we stopped in here. We chose to sit outside cause it was nice weather (and to be honest, it kinda smelled off to me inside. But I have a sensitive nose). My husband ordered a wrap and I ordered the falafel plate. I was having gum pain at the time and noticed the falafel was extra hard. It tasted good but was a little overcooked. The hummus was good too. The tomatoes and bell peppers were cut so big so it wasn't very appetizing to me. And if you need to use their bathroom, be warned it is not the cleanest. The owner was friendly but I just wish the food was more outstanding. read more

Very friendly service. My chicken shawarma pita wrap was as expected. It was good but not amazing and perhaps a little pricey for the quality. I also had baba ganoush and it was pretty good. Seating area was small but warm and cozy. Window counter stool seats offered good people watching. read more

The shawarma is juicy. Wish there could be just a little more vegetables in the wrap.

While the restaurant's aesthetic/interior design leaves something to be desired, the actual food is great. I happened to stumble upon this restaurant while in Ann Arbor late at night looking for healthier food options that were still open. I ordered a falafel wrap that really hit the spot for me. It was warm, fresh, filling, incredibly tasty, and also at a better price than a lot of the other options in the surrounding area. If you're looking for a reliable quick meal on the go, would definitely recommend giving this place a shot. read more

Visiting my old campus stomping grounds I have my favs but I had an impulse to grab a bite of something new (to me). This was along our walk and it appealed to my international tastebuds. On the owner's recommendation I ordered the chicken schawarma. At $11 it seemed a little steep. The sandwich arrived, nicely warmed and in barely 5 minutes. The outside of the wrap had a bit of a crunch (unusual?) and the inside was reasonably ladled with tender chicken, onions, and good seasonings. It wasn't the best schawarma I've ever had (could have used more chicken and a variety of veggies), but it was decent and, at a solid foot in length, filling too. The inside is small with one table for about 5-6 to squeeze around and then there are counters circumnavigating the side walls and front window with a total of about 7-8 stools. There are also two tables outside with 4 chairs each and that's where we all sat - perfect for a 75 degree mid-September afternoon. There is a tiny bathroom, located down a steep, narrow staircase, that is only for patrons. Parking is difficult with just a handful of meters right outside the restaurant but with its on-campus location, this is primarily a walk-up restaurant. I would be curious to try their falafel wrap next time. read more

This is a little hole in the wall place that serves good. It has one table that sits 6 people and high top chairs around the three walls. One wall has mirrors hung on it so you can see the area behind you which was nice. The seating is very tight. Service was fast and courteous. We ordered a falafel sandwich and a garden salad along with a bottle of water and a cherry coke. The food was tasty and satisfying. The prices were reasonable for the area. They are not inexpensive considering it is a college town with the majority of its clients college kids, but I would say it was reasonably priced. My falafel sandwich was $9.99. The falafel tasted good and was married up with tzatziki sauce. My only complaint is that the sauce was a bit runny and should be thicker. The garden salad was large for $11.99, and was accompanied by a nice dressing. We enjoyed our food and were full when done. Definitely would visit again if in the area. read more

I'm in-between 3 and 4 starts but went with 4 for now because the falafel itself was very good and everything appeared fresh and had good presentation. First visit here for me, I initially came in wanted to get a chicken shawarma but the menu pictures just didn't seem right with shredded chicken. I went with a falafel and decided to get something called Meghan's Falafel Pita Wrap - the potato and the hot sauce just didn't do it for me but you could definitely tell that the falafel itself was very good. I'll get the regular falafel next time! The "4 Piece Spinach Pies" - well first, the shell is like biting into a pita wrap. For some reason I thought it would be a crispy phyllo texture. The show stopper for me though was that it was very sour. I thought it was going to taste like the traditional greek spinach pie made with phyllo and feta cheese but this one was very sour. Not sure whether I got a bad batch or maybe that is the way it is supposed to taste here.... I did like that it came with cucumbers, pickles and tomatoes though, very good presentation and taste. I'll need to come here again and try the traditional falafel and maybe chicken shawarma and hopefully validate the 4 star rating. read more

$28 for a "chicken shawarma" plate (read: dry chicken and white rice) that you would get for $8 out of a food cart in NYC (and be better tasting). Cashier was staring at his phone and had no interest in my enjoyment of the food or experience. Not worth it at all, beware read more

I ordered a lamb Gyro. It was the most incredible Gyro that I've ever tasted in my entire life. I also ordered a salad, french fries, and Zaki sauce. This was probably the best food that I have ever tasted in regards to Mediterranean food. Pita kebab Grill. You're doing incredible keep up the great work. I highly recommend this place. I forgot to mention the heavenly hummus, it was incredible. read more

This is a quick service place with delicious falafel pita rolls of filling amount. Definitely recommended for quick take out

Went to Pita Kabob Grill by chance one day when some friends and I had been hanging out on the Diag. Its location was super convenient, but it's easy to see how you could miss it if you weren't looking for it! From the moment we walked in, the experience was great, the staff was very chill, patient and helpful as we tried to make our selections from their menu. They've got a very diverse menu and there's something for basically everyone. Among my friend group we had people who were Vegan and people who were on Low Carb diets and we all found things to eat pretty easily. There's not a ton of indoor seating as the restaurant is pretty small, but it's adequate for what it is, and there are a couple of tables with chairs outside. Once you've ordered, the food arrives fairly quickly too. Overall the food tastes great, it's a good value, and it's close to campus! Low Carb/ Keto folks: There are tons of options for you here, but they are rice heavy, so ask for a substitute or get a larger dish to compensate. Personally I ordered the Mixed Kabob plate, and it was plenty of food especially since you can get a soup or salad as a side (Be forewarned, the Chicken Curry soup has rice in it!!) read more

I ordered the kebab platter. The chicken was dry and not very flavorful. The salad was unexciting.

A very solid falafel pita wrap. Never had one toasted and pressed like this and it was amazing!!!

I ordered over the phone, and my food was ready within the 10 minutes it took me to drive there. A lamb gyro sandwich, felafel sandwich, and fries ran us ~$20. It was plenty of food, and the veggies were all fresh. The fries were plentiful and we liked the cajun spice. I did have a few bones to pick with the lamb gyro, which included lettuce, tomato, onion, and tzatziki sauce; it was a bit heavy on the onion, but worse, the bread was a bit stale, and the lab was a lot drier than I had hoped. All in all good for a quick, affordable bite, but I'll probably keep looking for my go-to Mediterranean spot. read more

Okay honestly, i wasn't sure about this place. I came to ann arbor from LA. Was really craving shawarma one night. Decided to uber eats from this place. Got the beef shawarma and lentil soup. First of all, the beef shawarma did not look like regular shawarma off the pit. It could have been a piece of steak that they cut up and grilled. Second, the vegetables on top had this weird seasoning that didnt taste middle eastern to me. The lentil soup also tasted like curry. This seemed to be more of a indian style restaurant than arabic in my sense. Wasnt bad, but wasnt what i was looking for either. read more

Pita Kabob Grill - Beef shawarma and lentil soup - Mediterranean Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

We stumbled upon this place while we were at an event downtown Ann Arbor and the kids were hungry so we decided to get something quick and to go. I ordered just the regular Falafel Pita with Tabbouli and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also ordered the Broccoli-b-toum pita version too, but I didn't get a chance to try that because my family took that one so I missed out. (GRRR!) Just the regular falafel pita was delicious, better than I expected it to be. And it was a pretty adequate size for the price, it was filling and tasted great. Although I wonder how it compares to other places I've been to which are a tad cheaper and the size may be similar, but I think here the pita sandwich is probably a tad bigger. So it may justify the price, I dunno I have to come here and try this again. It was a plus that they also had vegan options. Would I come here again? Chances are pretty likely. read more

Very underwhelming Middle Eastern spot. Ordered for takeout one of my first nights in Ann Arbor. Got a bunch of falafel, the lentil soup, and 2 combo plays with chicken, kofte, lamb schwarma, and beef schwarma. The lentil soup was good and the falafel is decent. However, the meat platters were not that good. The Schwarma and chicken were generally dry and not flavorful. The kofte was decent, but still not as moist and mouthwatering as I would like. I probably will not order from here again. read more

Ordered through Doordash. I tried the sauteed cauliflower entree with a chicken kebab on the side, my wife got the chicken shawarma sandwich w/ fries and salad. Cauliflower was oily; hummus on the side with it was bland. Chicken kebab was okay, though heavily seasoned with curry powder. My wife said the shawarma was decent but not great. Dressing on her side fatoush didn't have much flavor. Not terrible, but many better options. read more

This was such a disappointment. The chicken was so dry that I had to drink water to try and get it down. The fries were so limp and the dominating flavor in the lentil soup that came with the shish tawook was black pepper. The toum (garlic sauce) wasn't bad. read more

Ann Arbor has such a bounty of pita restaurants that it's hard for any of them to really stand out. Pita Kabob Grill succeeds by offering delivery to a wider area and staying open later than most of the competition. However, I can't really justify giving them more than three stars even though I order from them fairly regularly. Their food is better than some but too consistently dry (from the falafel to the rice to the lamb) or one-note (the spicy eggplant and the lamb, again, are the worst offenders) to recommend it on its own. Other reviewers have accused them of reheating their food, and I can see how that would make the hot foods kind of hard and dry on the outside, but maybe it's just what I get for ordering delivery? That said, the roasted cauliflower and garlic sauce are both very good, and their pickles are some of my favorites. It's definitely possible to get a good meal delivered from here. It's just more likely you'll get an okay meal. read more

Pita Kabob Grill - Falafel Pita Wrap Vegan on the left and lamb schwarma pita wrap on the right - Mediterranean Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

We had falafel, hummus, pitas and rice-stuffed grape leaves delivered (by Uber eats). The falafel was very dense and larger than I am used to but very flavorful. Great hummus dressed nicely with oil and a paprika(?) sprinkle. They serve the falafel with cucumber, tomato and dill pickle slices. The dill pickle slices were a surprise but went so well I will miss them at other places that DON'T. The grape leaves were nice little 2-bite treats and delicious. read more

The food here is really amazing but the prices/portions are really frustrating. A "half" order of hummus is $5.99+tax and it's actually about 2.5 tablespoons of hummus :/ I want to go here but that is just crazy read more

I'd always walked past this place but never ordered from them until recently. Pros: - LOTS of vegan and veggie options, way more than I thought! - Portions are sizable with 2 pita breads, I took half of my meal home - Not pricey for what you get Cons: - Falafel was on the drier side - Not a lot of hummus (platter meal) I would come here again for a quick mediterranean bite :-) read more

Amazing food! Meat is very good and the veggies always taste real. My personal favorite is the chicken tawook kebab with added humus (hummus+garlic sauce is so good). Always a great place to get food while walking around on the later side. Service is pretty good and food never takes too long. Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in the area, and I come here more frequently than just about any other place. read more

Sat in the restaurant while another friend proceeded to be late and didn't order until I got super hungry. The owner or manager was super patient and didn't prompt us to order faster as we were chillin' inside. I ordered the chicken and hummus platter, which also came with the garlic sauce ($10). Compared to other places in Detroit, this place is minutely more expensive and you get less, but decent for a college town. The other platters come with a lot of food, but are also more expensive than a normal meal for both lunch and dinner - $11.99 and $15.99, respectively. They also have pita wraps and other items on the menu for cheaper prices ~$6.99. I liked the small restaurant size; made for a cozy ambiance, read more

I ordered the lamb shawarma platter, lunch size, for $12.99. I love how they paid attention to the details. The vegetables are slightly caramelized but still crunchy. I would say, however, that the lamb itself doesn't stand out and might be a little dry. They give you pitas on the side, and it comes with either salad or soup. The lentil soup is creamy and intensely flavorful. The staff are super relaxed and nice, and it's a great experience. Service is a little slow, especially since it seemed like they were making most of their food for delivery when I got there (around 11pm). The entire restaurant smells amazing, and I noticed that the surfaces are kept really clean. Compared with other shawarma places, Pita Kabob Grill is a little more expensive, but considering the location, right by central campus at UMich, it seems fair. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place after years of coming here. This is one of my favorite spots around state street, and in my opinion, the best place to get falafel in A2. The falafel is so crispy and crunchy on the outside, but not mushy on the inside or anything. Also, I wish I could smother their garlic spread on my life because it makes everything better! My favorites are the falafel burger and Meghan's pita. These are really filling and you get a ton of food for the price. If you like spicy but not fire, you'll really like the Meghan's. It has hot sauce, the garlic sauce, FRIES, and falafel. The perfect pita basically. It does take a while to get your food since there isn't a huge staff, so make sure you bring something to do while you're there. Or if you're in a rush, just call about 10-15 minutes ahead. read more

So I've been here before but a long time ago, probably during undergrad (so like 8+ years ago, oy....). That time I think I had the chicken shwarma pita. This time I offered the chicken tawook pita. The pita was very good but it had chicken parties in it which was a little strange. Garlic and pickles were great, though, and the bread was perfectly toasted. We also got a small offer of fries - at about $2.50 it's a little pricey, but the spice blend they used was fantastic. Their bathroom situation is a little sketchy, it's down the stairs and at 5'4 I almost felt too tall for their basement, ha. Other than that, 4 stars from me and I'd come back again for a pita. read more

If you've ever had real shawarmas or kabobs I wouldn't come to this place to try to replicate it. The meat is dry and lacks flavor. The rice seems to just be brown rice boiled with a tomato, not the traditional basmati rice. read more

If you like a garlic sauce and spicy sujuk pita wrap. their version is so good. I specifically go back here for this.

I am in love with middle eastern food and I was really excited when I found out there was this restaurant near my apartment. The price for food makes your wallet really happy as the food is phenomenal. It is definitely a fast food and I really like the tight small knit food place where I can just embrace the nice music they play. I really really recommend this place. I would not really recommend groups going unless it is a pick and go kind of thing. The bathroom is a little weird because you have to go through the kitchen and like pass the storage room. However, everything else is nice! GO! :) read more

We came here after a Michigan basketball game and couldn't have been more disappointed. I'm guessing the great reviews have come from college students that have never had quality Middle Eastern food. And, to be honest, I came with one of my buddies that's 350 pounds and lives off McDonald's and Arbys. He couldn't take more than a few bites because the food had no flavor. The staff was nice and friendly. The food was overpriced and bland. I ordered the mixed platter: chicken and beef shawarma. It was more bland than boiled chicken and that's no exaggeration. The portions were more than acceptable and they better be for how expensive this was compared to the quality. I took a few bites, ate the veggies and tossed the rest. The rice tasted like regular white rice, not your traditional Middle Eastern rices. This is the poorest shawarma I've ever had and have eaten and several 100 places that mirror this around the country. C-mon Blue! You can do better than this! read more

Best lentil soup EVER! I agree with some of the other reviewers on here, their chicken can be on the dry side. Try the Makalee pita instead, it's super yummy and vegetarian.
