Meat Shawarma Wrap Combo (opted for water instead of soda).
    Tram N.

You order at the kiosk, pay, and wait. I came in around 2:30PM. I came here to get something to eat before checking into my hotel. I wanted it to-go though because I had some work to do. The menu is straightforward. I ordered a meat shawarma wrap combo. You can select a soda but I opted for a bottled water. I try to not eat or drink at the airport or on the plane - to reduce the number of times I might need to use the restroom. I was hungry and was looking forward to a big meal. The meat (beef and lamb) was very good, very flavorful and juicy. The pickled vegetables were good, but it saturated the wrap thus made the meal pretty messy. The bag that it came in had a hole from the pickled vegetable juices. The fries were seasoned and wasn't greasy or over cooked. Super affordable.

Nate and I were desperate for a quick dinner spot before heading to our niece's karate class in the area recently - luckily we found Zamaan Cafe and remembered eating at Bewon, the Korean restaurant next door years ago. The cafe was brightly lit with a couple of groups inside enjoying dinner. They were doing quite a bit of takeout, so we ordered and sat down at a booth to wait. I got the meat shawarma wrap and a cup of lentil soup, and Nate ordered the chicken shawarma wrap combo, which comes with a fountain drink and fries. The food was pretty quick to come out, and I was instantly impressed with the fries. They looked delicious and not like the typical steak fries that you usually get at Mediterranean restaurants. They were almost beer battered and super crispy on the outside, with tender potatoey insides. Perfection! The wraps were a little small and I found the pita to be a bit tough, but the flavors were good and the meat was pretty tender. The lentil soup was hot and comforting. I really liked it and would get it again. I really appreciated that we were brought a cup of water without having to ask. I'd stop here again in the future if we're in the area, but I might order online ahead of time.

Stopped over during a road trip for a quick bite to eat. Restaurant located in a strip mall. Great and fast service. Food was delicious. Loved the Shish Kufta plate with fresh tomatoes. Reasonable price. Taking a star off due to the bathroom not being clean. Food was good and service was good.

Came here multiple times for dine in and carry out. We usually get the shawarma sandwiches which are pretty good - nice amount of meat and overall good flavor. However, they fall short on their entree dishes. The chicken shawarma plate was pieces of chicken breast without much flavor. Not the shawarma that you get from those rotating shawarma grills. The portion was so small for $17. The kafta had decent flavor - again think the portion was small for the price. The service was good. The place is casual and clean. They serve everything on paper products which I didn't really like but it was fine. Overall didn't think the entrees were worth the price.

The food was great. We got Combo for 2 (Tawook, kafta, falafel, hummus, rice, pita bread, salad). The meat was fresh, full of flavor and grilled into perfection. Hummus and garlic sauce were really good too.

Upon entering the restaurant, I saw all the tables were closed off. When I asked the cashier if the restaurant was open for dine-in, she pointed me to the tables in the connecting restaurant, 8 Tortas. Recalling how much I enjoyed Almaza, as I was about to order, I grabbed a bottle of Laziza not realizing it was non-alcoholic. Because the cashier had trouble finding a bottle opener, I joked that I should have grabbed a bottle of water with the sport cap instead. I ordered the Shish Kabob. At $20.95, it was one of the few pricey items on the menu. As I had eaten very little the entire day, I was ready for large meal. At least, I thought I was. I was not asked if I wanted soup or salad, so I lucked out with the latter. In addition to spices, they put pita chips in the salad! It definitely made me keep eating more of the salad than I originally intended. By the time I got to the Shish Kabob, the rice was very warm and not steaming hot. The beef cubes were warm and tender. Because I ate most of the salad, I could only eat half of the entree. I was not even able to finish all the beef cubes.

Shoutout to my friend and fellow foodie Tiffany for always being down to try a new spot together!…read moreWe did a double date at El Harissa recently and it's my favorite kind of spot - welcoming and warm, with delicious food, and kind, patient employees. The cafe is a few tables inside of the market/deli, with a lot of takeout happening but I love that they offer dining in as they heat everything up for you and it's all presented very nicely. We ordered a ton of things: harissa dip, hummus, pita, spice roasted cauliflower, tabbouleh, lasagne verde, chicken tagine, and gelato. I loved that the menu indicates which menu items have a smaller carbon footprint - and we happened to be dining there on Earth Day! The food was all flavorful and the perfect temperature, which I appreciated. My favorites were the harissa dip, tabbouleh, and the lasagne verde. The chicken tagine was very good, and we enjoyed the leftovers the next day. The spice roasted cauliflower left us wanting it to be a bit more crispy, but it was a nice side. The gelato is delicious - it's made by Palazzolo's but El Harissa provides them with the unique ingredients for their specialty flavors. They were out of some but we got to sample several. We ended up with the roasted pistachio gelato and the apricot peach cardamom. The texture of the gelato was perfectly creamy and the flavors were strong. The market has lots of great items to buy: chips, tunisian olive wood pieces, spices, etc. I'm so glad we sought out this spot and can't wait to get more of their food!

Had the: *Spice Roasted Cauliflower (Crispy cauliflower florets coated and baked in rice and chickpea flour and our North African spice blend. Served with Harissa Dip) Small/1-2 Portion - $11): A little soggier than I'd like but the flavors were good! I also like the harissa dip it came with! *Small Merguez Meatballs (Inspired by the Maghrebi sausage, our spiced lamb and beef meatballs are hand-rolled with onions and herbs and coated with a thick tomato sauce. Served with saffron rice or couscous - small portion came with 3 for $10): For meatballs that included lamb - it wasn't gamey at all and very tasty! I picked cous cous for my side. *Chicken Chermoula (Brined, seared, then baked to capture all of its flavor, our crowd-favorite chicken is juicy and delicious. Served over rice with our herby, garlicky, lemony Chermoula Sauce - Double Portion - $18): Our main entree to share. The lemony chermoula sauce was delish. Chicken was perfectly cooked - not dry at all! Mujadara Rice (A Levantine staple of spiced green lentils and rice. Ours is adorned with carefully caramelized golden onions for a touch of savory-sweetness - small for $8) - SO tasty! I could eat this on its own. Maghrebi Chili (Smoky and spicy. Ground beef seasoned with Harissa spices and slowly cooked with chickpeas, lentils, black beans, peppers, and loads of vegetables - Small/Pint - $9.50) - FIBER CITY! Flavors were really good! We also had SO much gelato - they basically let us sample all of them. ended up with the pistachio and tiramisu. I'll be back - especially for a salad with their wonderful chicken - seems like a great healthy option!
