This place is a must stop every time I'm vacationing in SD. The açaí bowls are the best I've ever had, even better than one I had in Hawaii! My daughter had a cold so I asked the owner if she could split a bowl into 2, and she said they do half bowls. I'm so glad I learned this is an option because one bowl is too much for one person and the half bowl was easier to eat since it wasn't so full. The smell inside coming from the granola roasting will instantly make your mouth water. Highly recommend Juice Wave! read more

Juice Wave changed my opinion on açaí bowls, but I think it also ruined my standards because it was so good. First off, the lady working at the stand was so friendly and welcoming. She answered all of my questions patiently and recommended her favorites. In terms of the smoothie bowls, they were DELICIOUS. The açaí bowl was super fresh and the mountain of strawberries were greatly appreciated. The pitay-dye was a coconut-y, tropical delight. Super fresh as well, and I liked the concept of the sorbet melting on top of the toppings. I got the house made almond butter on both bowls, and it was the perfect way to top them off. Small little shop that can be easily missed so keep your eye out! I had the Cali Chrome smoothie. So glad I splurged on the 16 oz because it was so good, flavorful and filling without being too sweet. It tasted whole rather than artificial like other smoothie shops. Came here 2x already on our trip to SD. So glad we found it. Was searching for the best açaí bowl and I'm gonna be hard pressed to find something as good. We were so, so excited to try this place! It looked SO good on social media. We drove all the way from LA to try this place to only be turned down. We waited in line for our turn to order our acai bowl, and the cashier was chatting with the customer ahead of us for an exceptionally long time. When the cashier finally gave us her attention, the first thing she said to us was, " it is going to be a 20-25 minute wait". She didn't greet us like she did any other customer, she didn't smile or anything. It really turned me off and made me really sad to think that my family and I drove all this way to just be treated rudely and with disrespect. Amazing açaí bowl! I came here a few weeks ago and am still thinking about it!! All the ingredients are so fresh and taste amazing!! The açaí bowl is priced like a full meal at more than $10 but the portion is so large and filling. There isn't much in terms of seating but you can get your bowl to go or sit on a bench outside. This was the best acai bowl I've ever had and it made my entire day. The granola was freshly baked, the fruit was SO fresh and delicious, and I added almond butter that they make in house. It so was amazing I think about it often lol, 10 / 10 would recommend. It took us like ~20 minutes to get it because the granola was in the oven when we got there, but they let us know how long it would take and made sure we were ok with the wait before we ordered which was nice, and who isn't going to wait 20 min for fresh baked granola (it also made the whole place smell amazing so and it was a sunny day so not a bad wait) :) read more

TLDR: stopped by here really quick for some açaí bowls, and they were ok! Their menu is very small but my partner and i got two açaí bowls. They had a ton of sweet strawberries and bananas, with really good coconut granola. A bit of the granola was over baked and a few of the bits were burnt, but it wasn't super upsetting. The açaí base itself was really thick too! I appreciate it since it prolonged it's life for me, a slow eater. read more

I loved this place. Arleigh is amazing! I went in...and she had a BUSY weekend and didn't have the juices I wanted. And so she was going to be juicing again on Wed...and so I waited for them and she was willing to deliver...which was above and beyond. She didn't have to deliver but just the fact that she was willing to deliver to my hotel or Airbnb...was so amazing! The juices are great...I got 4 total, a beet, a carrot and two green...and they are amazing..nice to be able to keep my routine when away from home. Small place and hard to find parking on the street...but well worth it, if you can get in. Highly recommend! read more

Juice Wave is a small cute spot that we stumbled upon while walking in the area around our AirBnb. We were craving acai bowls, so we ordered their acai bowl pitay-dye style (half pitaya + half acai). It came out to be $11.50, and it was a good portion size to split with two people. The lady working at the counter was super friendly and chatty, and I really appreciated how beautifully she made our acai bowl! This is my new favorite acai spot in SD. It's the perfect place to get a bowl and bring to the beach or after an activity filled day at the beach. The portion of the acai bowl is large and so visually stunning. The strawberries are cut into perfectly small pieces and it comes with peaches and hemp seeds. You can tell the bake the granola themselves as well. The owners are so nice as well and love making these acai bowls for all their customers. Would recommend coming here if you're looking for any acai bowl in all of San Diego. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Arleigh R.

Arleigh has been working in the food industry for over 20 years. After graduating from Colorado State University, she packed up and moved to San Diego for the grand opening of Snooze, an A.M. Eatery in Hillcrest. After two years, Chef Arleigh attended the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, Vermont. She then worked with James Beard Award Winning Chef, Michael Tusk at his three Michelin-Star Restaurant, Quince, as well as training to be the butcher for his sister restaurant, Cotogna. Attending every farmer's market in the Bay Area to pick up the fresh and local produce for both restaurants was one of her most cherished responsibilities. WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities for Organic Farms) was the best option for her to get her hands in the dirt. Farmer Leo's at Cardiff-by-the-Sea in Encinitas was the farm where she has cultivated her culinary skills and has become most passionate about utilizing ingredients from local farms and incorporating sustainable methods.

I'm just extremely disappointed with how poor my experience was today because I had only super positive experiences previously and was looking forward to dining there this morning after sometime away, but holy hell ....today's experience has been so profoundly bad. Firstly, my husband ordered two breakfast burritos - one with bacon and the other with bacon on the side. I'll chalk this one up to miscommunication, but they put bacon in one, and bacon in the other too - and then added bacon on the side to the other and charged us $5.50 for the extra bacon. Again, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt here and will be sure to communicate explicitly next time. They kindly made me a new one, but the new one had potatoes that weren't cooked thoroughly (likely to rush the food to me, so I acknowledge the difficulty here), however there was hardly any avocado. I literally had to complain again because I didn't believe there was any avocado at all. I wouldn't be as pissed if this weren't an EIGHTEEN DOLLAR breakfast burrito. Lastly, the coffee lids don't fit on the cups. We tried to put one on and ended up spilling the entire coffee. I chalked this up to an accident on our part, however another patron who observed our incident said "their lids don't fit the cup, right??" And I was like "oh so it wasn't just us??" And she was like "no, I almost spilled mine all over too." This random patron encouraged us to ask for a new cup of coffee as a result (thanks, random patron!). The Molly's team did kindly make us a new (albeit quite bitter) drink, which I appreciate. However, the lid was still an issue - it would spill out of the cup all over the rim between the cup and the lid when I'd try to take a sip, so I took off the lid entirely, but then was stuck with dealing with spills while walking around - I had to move at a snail's pace to prevent spills altogether. This was easier to deal with random leakage around the entire cup every time I'd sip with the lid on. Ultimately It was just a lose-lose with the ill fitting lid situation. All this to say - Molly's Team, yall were fantastic just a month ago. What happened? I understand food and services in the beach area stuff are often expensive and rarely good, but you guys are *too* expensive for this poor of service and quality. Two stars because at least the folks there are generally nice.

We first discovered it last year during a combination of Yelp searches, and a little A-Frame sign they have along the boardwalk. The reviews were mostly all good, and we quickly understood why. LOCATION & INSIDE: Located in a little outdoor shopping center, the inside itself is pretty small. Amongst different areas, there is room for around a dozen or less people to sit inside. They have a little space against the wall across from the counter where they sell shirts and other items such as travel mugs, glass sippers, and mushroom coffee! There are a few additional tables out front, but I recommend taking your coffee down for a stroll along the beach if the weather permits. DRINKS: This is a pretty typical coffee shop in terms of offerings, with options including regular coffee, cold brew, pour-over, espresso, cappuccino, americano, latte, tea, tea latte, and hot chocolate. They have several options for most categories, including a Caramel Macchiato, (White) Mocha, and a Rose Lavender latte, to name a few. They also have seasonal drinks, which are currently a Tiramisu Cold Brew and a Peppermint White (Chocolate) Mocha. For tea lattes, they have items like a Chai Latte, Matcha Latte, and even a few variations of those. The first time we went (last year), we got hot drinks. This most recent time we went (a couple days ago) we went with iced lattes. The wifey ordered the Rose Lavender, and I got the French Vanilla latte. We both loved our drinks, and were very happy with our decisions. It's only a difference of $0.50 to go from small (12oz.) to large (16oz.) and +$1 to have an alternative milk. We love to use oat milk, as it helps create an extra creamy drink. While they don't typically have their own cold foam per-se, they were able to add some of the whipped mascarpone from the tiramisu latte on top. Honestly this was the perfect topper to an already incredibly creamy and delicious drink. They also added some dried rose petals to the lavender one, which was a nice aesthetic. FOOD: There are just a few options, including various croissants and vegan pastries. They don't have a full kitchen, so the stuff isn't freshly made in-house. I know some coffee shops prefer a brighter, fruit-forward style, but this tasted overwhelmingly sour rather than smooth or refreshing. Unfortunately it was one of the worst cold brews I've had and I would not order it again.
