My wife ordered a refill from JS West last week and we were charged $3.23/gallon. On the same day I ordered propane from Amerigas for another property and got it for $2.11/gallon. Doing the math, we overpaid JSWest by over $200 for that fill up of our tank. I called JS West and they were very dismissive and said their rates are competitive and that they would not be giving us any kind of refund. This is flat out fleecing their customers! We have been customers for 5 years since we bought the house. The JS West tank came with the house so we are forced to use them. This is how they treat their loyal customers! read more

Bad Business! Beware. They gave us a notice that they are coming to take their tank because we don't use enough propane. We have used them for 6 years and two years ago got a wood stove so we don't use as much propane. We Just have a cook stove I use daily but obviously not enough propane usage for them. They want us to buy at least 300 gallons a year to keep the tank. when I ask if there was any way we could work this out and keep their tank. She said that we would have to pay a higher deposit. The deposit is now $60 a year and they would have to raise it to $600 a year in order to continue renting their tank. What an absolute rip off. We used lots!! Of propane from them for 4 years but they don't care. I explained we no longer have a propane heating stove but just a cooking stove but they don't care. The tank is 73 % full and we just paid the $30 tank rental fee. They wanted us to go to Home Depot and buy a bottle to use or go with another company. The lady on the phone said it's all about money for them that they cannot afford to have a tank not be filled monthly. When I asked how they would get our money back from the 73% propane left and the $30 I just paid 2 weeks ago she said we'll have to try and figure it out when we get it back to the yard. It's close to $600 that we paid for the propane in the tank. I'm sure they will try and not pay us back the whole amount. Pretty bad business!!! The letter that they sent only gave 30 day notice to pick up the tank and find another provider. Again they don't care there is lots more, but I won't go into detail. These people are crooks locked my tank for a rental fee that's I was going to pay when I needed more propane it was December after all I have children and Christmas. I paid in full for my propane prior to delivery. Now that they locked it they want me to pay over $300 stating it's the rental fee the fee for them locking it and a $77.21 past due balance from the last delivery. When I paid in full prior to the last delivery. I have gone 5 months now without propane using small propane tanks to shower and cook with because I refuse to pay these crooks for unlawful charges read more

As others have stated - it's absolutely ridiculous for customers to have to wait 3 weeks (15 business days) for a refill. Through the unprecedented winter storm we just had, we dropped to an emergency low level of propane. What I've learned is that no matter how low your tank may be, whether it's an emergency situation or not, JSWest will not come to fill it up anytime soon. They do not have any way to prioritize emergency situations. I'm deeply disappointed in this profound lack of service and ability to respond in a timely manner. They're not even able to provide an ETA... we're about to run out soon which means our house will have no heat, hot water, or cooking ability. JS West, think the company should be named JS Worst, probably one of the worst propane suppliers operating in this area. What a crappy company. Let me tell you my story. I was tasked by my wife to go to my late father-in-law's home in Grass Valley and spend a month going through all of his stuff (near hoarder) and hauling it back to Boulder Creek (North of Santa Cruz) where we live, so she could decide what to keep and what to toss. While at the Grass Valley home, I walked by the propane tank and smelled propane. I called JS Worst to tell them about this leak. Just wanted a technician to check it out. That is it; that is all I wanted; that is all I was calling about. Thought I was doing the right thing. Huge mistake! The customer service rep asked if I was the account holder (my late father-in-law). I was honest of course and said no and told her we would be putting the house on the market. She told me I would need to set up a new account now. Told her I had a lot of work on my hands and didn't have time to waste setting up a new account for no reason since we were not going to be ordering anymore propane. Told her all I wanted was a technician to check out the leak. Told her the new buyers would sign up for service with JS West when they bought the home (and inherit the remainder of the propane, 60% full). She said no; that would not be possible. I would need to establish a new account now in the interim before the house sold or they would lock the tank. She was an absolute robot, rules are rules, no empathy, no understanding, no flexibility, no customer focus. Sure enough, a week later, on my next trip back to the home, I found they had disconnected the propane tank from the house (picture included). They left a note on the door: "Please call office to set up account to continue service" (picture included). Yep, the house was being supplied propane before JS Worst arrived; when JS Worst departed, the house no longer was being supplied propane. Did they fix the leak that I called about? No, had no interest doing that. That was not important to them. The old regulator was still there and that is where the leak was coming from. They just disconnected the tank from the house to force me to sign up for a new account. I guess the rep thought I would appreciate cold showers when I arrived back to the house. Wow! What a sleazy company. Remember, all I called about was a possible leak; the result was a disconnected tank. That is clearly a company with no interest in customer service. They didn't come to the home to fix the leak that was reported by the customer. They came to the home to force the customer to set up a new account and intentionally disconnected the propane supply line so the 60% of propane still remaining in the tank that was already paid for by the customer and belonged to the customer could not be used by the customer. What nerve. Now that is a sleazy company. Is there a solution? YES, called Ferrellgas and had them install a new tank and transfer the 60% remaining into the new Ferrellgas tank. They were happy to set a new tank on the property. They were happy to have a new customer. They installed a new regulator that eliminated the leak that I wanted JS Worst to fix. Thanks Ferrellgas for fixing the leak. Called JS Worst and told them they could pick up their "you know what" (begins with an "F") tank. Problem solved! Goodbye JS Worst! You lost a customer! Customer calls to fix a leak and you just disconnect their tank. What a crappy company. There is no reason to do business with a company like this unless they are the only game in town--AND they are not. The new buyers will now be customers of Ferrellgas--not JS Worst. I am sure they will thank me. Stay away from JS Worst; they have zero customer service. Ferrellgas has better prices and a real customer service team. When I told the Ferrellgas customer service rep the story about JS Worst, she was shocked, couldn't believe it. I have Ferrellgas at my Boulder Creek home; although they don't give it away for free, they always have the lowest price out of five companies that service my area. Have interacted with Ferrellgas customer service before; they know what they are doing. They know the importance and meaning of customer service. JS Worst has no clue. When looking for a propane supplier, there are better options out there than JS Worst. Stay away from this creepy company. read more

I can honestly say that JS West has no clue what they are doing and what their receptionist is telling people. Lies upon Lies. They cannot keep their stories straight. Been waiting for 8 days, online it says order pending, yet we have seen their trucks driving down our street. They filled 3 neighbors close to us and when we asked the driver he said we are not on the list. We had to use someone else or we would have run out. They will be there tomorrow...well that day came and went. It has now been 11 days since they said they would be here. No snow on streets, 4 more neighbors filled today..same street. We have been loyal customers of JS West for 18 years. They apparently don't have enough drivers to deliver propane. Our tank ran completely out and they haven't been able to get it refilled or even partially filled. No heat, no hot water and no cooking. I live with my 88 year old grandpa, and we ran out of propane, js west PROMISED us to send a propane out the next day, they lied and abandon my grandpa as it is BELOW FREEZING outside. Terrible company, we inherited their propane tank lease and service when we purchased our home. From day one we had nothing but trouble, unreliable deliveries, last minute price changes and poor customer service. I cancelled their service in September of 2020 and asked them to come pick up their tank. By early 2021 the tank remained on my property. So I called again, they said they would be out as soon as possible. I honestly forgot about the whole thing until today. The tank is still setting in my yard sense May, I have called a number of times and they tell me their service dept. is busy but it's on the list to pick up, but I am responsible for any damage to the tank while it is setting on my property and if it goes missing I'm responsible for that as well. The part that is really upsetting is that they were completely rude and didn't care one bit about my business. I was not rude to them at all. Moved to Meadow Vista almost 2 years ago. Our house has a JS West propane tank from the previous owner so we kept their service. Signed up for "auto refill" to avoid issues with running out of propane. "Auto refill" has never been automatic. I have had to monitor the tank and call when we get low. We called to get propane delivered on 12/30 with our tank below 5%. We were told that tomorrow was the soonest that they could fill our tank and that they would be there before noon. We turned off the heater to conserve our remaining propane for the hot water heater. No propane by noon, we called at 1 to be reassured that the manager was out delivering our route and just running behind. The day ended with no propane. We called and got their after hours answering service and were told that a contract company would be contacted to take care of our propane. Never happened. I received a call telling me that the best that they will do is bring me 12 gallons when I run out. I was told that I would receive a call from their office the next day to arrange a new delivery. That call was supposed to happen on New Years day, never happened. We have burned through all of our firewood trying to heat the house when the temperature outside has hoverd in the 30's and 40's. Poor service and then lies on top of it have proven that JS West is not a good business to rely on for your propane needs. Unless you don't care about your health and comfort. read more

I've called several times to have their equipment removed so that I can use a reliable company to provide propane. DON'T USE JS West!!!!!!!!!!! If I could give ZERO stars I would. We just bought a house and we have 2 propane tanks for the 2 houses on our property. Without warning JSWest come out and put line locks on both tanks and both regulators leaving us with no way to cook or heat water for showers. There are no markings on the tanks to let us know who they belonged to so we had to contact out real estate agent to contact the previous owners to find out who owned them. Such a SCAM!!!! Called to have my tank filled. They MADE US WAIT. 15 business days. Not including weekends. Or holidays. I have a household of five people without propane, our oven dosent work, no hot water, ect ect. They make us wait so we HAVE to pay an EXTRA $250 to have it delivered three minutes after the request has been asked. I ordered a refill online. I called a couple of days later and was told over the phone that I would have my refill on 1/13/20. I called on 1/14/20 after seeing a truck passed by my street without any refill in my tank. I called and Cindy picked up the phone and told me that my order has been changed to one to two weeks before they're "busy". I asked how they could just change refilling schedule on me. She literally said that she could just cancel my pending order and told me to go ahead and go with another company because I'm a Will-Call customer. 2 years ago I asked JS West if they have a special rate for Seniors? They said they do. So all these years I thought We were getting a senior discount and the lady just recently said no we dont give senior rates, Another time I noticed on my receipt it said my tank was corrected to 65 Degrees. I called and ask what does that mean the youg girl said she didnt know. So two years later they said they only use the percetage of the tank filled like 65%. So then I was real curious to why the recept still says corrected to 65 degrees every Fill? Asked if they could please take a look at the Gauge on my tank maybe faulty.That was a year ago still it goes on. I pay my Bill online. The bill pay online was not working. It was an internet thing.
