A hole in the wall gem! Great service, good food. Definitely not your average Peruvian food. Has some Chinese inspiration to the food.

The food is amazing! We had the leche de Tigre to start - Peruvian ceviche Then we ordered the yuquita frita - Peruvian French fries Followed by the Arroz chaufa de pollo - fried rice And the lomo saltado ! Bomb ! Your green sauce is amazing ! The red sauce is really spicy but so much flavor! A MUST TRY PLACE

I am so pleasantly surprised about this new place! I needed food catered for a small party. I contacted them and they are newly opened so they got back to me with catering prices. Food was done on time to perfection! My whole family was very happy with our food. We ordered lomo saltado, chaufa de pollo, tallarin verde, chicken fingers and fries for the kids. Service was excellent and I plan to go back to eat at their restaurant soon!

Amazing experience from start to finish. We ordered the jalea mixta, chaufa aeropuerto, and ceviche de pescado, and every single dish was outstanding. The flavors were authentic, fresh, and perfectly balanced exactly what you want from Peruvian food. Portions were generous and the seafood was top quality. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a relaxed meal. On top of that, the service was excellent: friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Definitely coming back and highly recommend this place if you're craving real Peruvian cuisine.

    Lomo Saltado with fried rice

You know when you walk into a place and see the menu you just have a feeling it's gonna be the best food you've ever had? That's how I felt when I got here. And GOODNESS was I SO DAMN CORRECT!! We had the chupe de camaron, a shrimp and corn chowder with a delicious broth (as a soup girl I was very happy) Lomo saltado comes with white rice but they gave us fried instead because they ran out and it smelled FRICKING DELICIOUS when it arrived. The fried tomatoes and onions were made to perfection as well as the meat being incredibly favorful and the rice was fragrant and yummy. Gotta get a thesaurus out! The last dish we ordered was tallarín verde con bistec and HOLY FRICKING MOLY. I love me some pesto but this is better than any Italian restaurant I've ever been to. we haven't even finished eating and I'm already texting my friends and family saying I need to take them here. And the meat had some chopped and cooked cilantro and green onions toppings that just complemented the flavor so well And now we're about to dig into our lucuma ice cream and I'm so excited!! If you want Peruvian food, go no where else. PS The vibe and ambiance is very family style cozy The service was fantastic they really took care of us ^_^

I'm Ecuadorian, and I absolutely love Peruvian food. My brother told me about this place, and I truly fell in love with it! The Caldo de Pollo was an off-menu exception made just for me, which made the experience even more special. Everything was delicious, authentic, and full of flavor. I highly recommend this place. Come and enjoy this amazing food!

    Lomo saltado was just average
    Siaosi L.

Food is average. I had the lomo saltado it was okay and the causa. Nothing to write home about. Service was mediocre and the Valentine's decor was okay. I give them a B for effort. Mr Pollo in West Covina's way better.

Papa relleña, choros a la chalaca, chicha morada

The food and service was great and quick! My mom's Peruvian and knows tasty food when she tries it so we decided to give this place a try. We came for lunch and shared choros a la chalaca and papa relleña. Our favorite was the choros and the papa was flavorful and a big enough portion enough to take some home. We'll be back to try their other goodies.Muy Rico.

I saw this place on my way out of the grocery market next door. Was excited that there was a Peruvian restaurant so close by. Took my wife for lunch today and pricing was a bit higher than I was expecting for such a small spot. We arrived right about noon there was only one table seated and us. It took a lot longer for the food to come out, it took about 30 mins or so. The food was decent, the service was ok. The weirdest thing was when we asked for water, it sounded like they didn't serve water there. The waiter offered us their agua Fresca and when my wife said no just plain water, he gave us the weirdest look so she ended up order a coke. All in all, this might be our 1st and last time.

I was told by a friend to try the food here and let me tell that I was impressed. I'm Peruvian and the Causa rellena was amazing! Totally recommend!!

    Camaron saltado

The best lomo saltado and camaron saltado ever. The staff is so kind and welcoming. the restaurant is spotless clean. Also the portions are huge and very fresh. This is in a shopping center with lots of parking. Best Peruvian food in El Monte

It is good. It is the same price at the beef version but understandly so. The chicken meat was grilled tenderly, and the slice of ham it came with added the saltynesss the sandwich needed. Simple but effective. Also chilies adds great flavor too. You can ask for it on the side to adjust spiciness to your preference. Capicollo, one of the cold sandwich, was fine but nothing to write home about. Atlas or wings ($11.99/lb) here remind me of the ones I used to get when I was younger... I like how the spicy version is still deed fried and not saucy. (Personally prefer dry rubs.) The heat can creep up to u after a few. But not all wings are created equally, might end with with some tiny more battered ones along with regulars. Wait times can be longer during lunch times - waited 30 min for takeout during weekday lunch hour.

There's already food that is fried and ready to go when you come up to the counter apparently there's a process that it's lost on me. So I just went my own way and got in line, picked what I wanted and then paid, found a table that is first-come-first-served basis. Easy peasey. Got some cheese empanadas, chicken wings & French fries. What do that to me was the cheese and vanilla, very cheesy and savory! The fries on the other hand felt like that they were sitting there a bit, and I love fries so these kinda were a meh for me. It looks like a small cafeteria set up with the lunch lady at the counter, No muss, no fuss. Pretty good experience coz it was spent with Hubby and a very good friend. Parking is free & shared with other businesses in this plaza.

Food - sub par Service - slow & presumptuous…read moreAmbiance - hole in the wall & not a problem I had an intense craving for lomo saltado so came here because it popped up on Yelp. It was a hole in the wall and had relatively good reviews for lomo saltado so I had my hopes up thinking the food would be amazing. My chief complaint is that it took almost 30 minutes for my single order to come out because the kitchen was busy prioritizing to-go/delivery orders. Had I known this, I wouldn't have eaten inside the restaurant; I would've actually gotten it delivered. My next complaint is that no receipt was given as customer copy, and no itemized receipt when asking for tip. The total for this dish came out to almost $30 including tip, and the waitress/cashier didn't mention the lunch special at all. I brought it up to ask about it after I paid, to which she replied, "Oh, you probably don't want that cuz it's smaller. But it comes with a drink and soup." The fact that she assumed I wouldn't want the lunch special (when I'm there at lunch time) that would've been a much better deal at $17.99 and perfect portion size for me, and yet charged me for the regular dinner price was a bit presumptuous. It's also weird that they would ask for a tip (which I gave anyway) before I even received my meal. It's less about the price but the principle! But I was just hungry and needed to go to my next appointment, so I didn't argue, but again, the food took way too long to come out so I had to ask her about it after the 25 minute mark. Food came out after 30 minutes, and I had to get up and ask for the aji verde sauce when most restaurants usually serve it to you with the meal. The aji verde sauce which is really important to me to complement this dish, unfortunately missed the mark as well. I really missed Sol Inka's aji verde sauce that's well-rounded in every way. Lomo saltado should be balanced between the meat, tomatoes, onions, and fries, but it was definitely heavy on the fries with only two pieces of tomatoes. I would've preferred more meat too if it's the regular plate, but it felt like a fries dump. I wouldn't have had complaints if this were the lunch special order. Anyways, if you don't mind the headache & having to be extra proactive to get what you want, this is the place to be, but it's definitely not my cup of tea. $30 for a sub-par lomo saltado where well over half of it is fries does not sit well with me, considering I waited 30 minutes for my meal. Unfortunately, I'd just have to stick to Sol Inka for my regular Peruvian food fix, as the flavor is more robust there anyways. Oh, and Sol Inka also gives complimentary warm bread and butter, while there isn't anything like that here.

Mr. Pollo is a little place in the middle of a small strip center serving up amazing rotisserie chicken and Peruvian dishes. They don't have an extensive menu, but everything is so good. If you plan to eat in the dining area, they would like you to order at the counter first, then find a table to sit. On this recent visit, we ordered the Whole Chicken meal ($32.60), which comes with your choice of two large sides. We got the mashed potatoes & gravy and the beans. This is one of the best rotisserie chickens we've had, and the sides were quite tasty as well. They also have Loma Saltado, Chaufa de Pollo (chicken fried rice), Tallarin Verde con Pechuga de Pollo (chicken served on spaghetti with spinach sauce), and a few other dishes to choose from. It's a very popular place and the dining area is on the small side, so be prepared that you might not find a place to sit. A lot of customers take their orders "to go". If you're looking for delicious food at reasonable prices, I recommend that you check them out.

Customer service from the manager/owner was not good at all. The lomo saltado was disappointing too -- the beef was very chewy and the sauce was overly salty. The chicken was actually good, and the server did a good job trying to help us. The atmosphere was not comfortable because the restaurant was very smoky from the chicken cooking, and there was no restroom available inside the restaurant. Overall, the food and service from the server were okay, but the manager's attitude really ruined the experience.
