chamango
Tiffany N.

I was staying in El Monte and got recommended this gem by my friend who's a local. I knew I had to try it immediately and that's what my boyfriend and I did. Store was small and service was great. My boyfriend got the chamango with mango and pineapple ice cream. This is probably the best chamango I've ever had in my life. It took me back to my childhood where I would always get a chamango with my friends after school. The ice cream was not too sweet and there were also mango chunks at the bottom which were divine. I got the elote in a cup which was really good. It had tons of butter and cheese. I'd love to come back whenever I can but I recommend anyone who's in the area to try this place if they haven't.

Cash preferred to avoid $1 charge on card transactions. I've been coming here for almost a decade and it's still great. I mainly come here for their Chamango, they let you chose as many flavors of sorbet you want. They don't recommend milk based flavors as it will curdle when they squeeze lime over top. If you just want regular scoops of ice cream, they're extremely affordable. $1 per scoop but minimum of 2 scoops.

The ice cream is good in my opinion and the people working there are always kind. My family and I always come here after coming from the park or a winning soccer game.

What a cool hidden gem/neighborhood spot! I think I stumbled upon this place via TikTok (thank you to the creator for putting me on!). They are so sweet and friendly here! The prices are insanely good - $1 per scoop of ice cream! I got the Mango and Guava with chamoy topping for only $2! I wanna come back to try the other items on their menu, I was a bit intimidated by the menu as a non-Spanish speaker tbh, but I'm sure they'll be happy to give you recommendations!

Located inside a plaza on Garvey Ave, a couple of stores down from Mr. Baguette is a hidden gem. I use to come here after school with my aunt. Our way home, we would always get their mangonada. Glad to see they're still in business after all these years. They charge $1 if you use credit/debit, so being cash if you don't want the charge! Staff were attentive and friendly. When it comes to mangonada, this place probably one of the best! Their ice cream is smooth and it doesn't taste water down compared to other places.

I have been coming to Garcia's since I was in the third grade. I'm now 22 and I'm still going strong. The ice cream is a constant craving for me, I always feel welcome when I go so the service is good, and I just all around love the vibe of the place. Th smell specifically takes me back to when I was a kid. I love this place so much

I have been enjoying Garcia's fruits since they started out of the of their truck & years later they still don't disappoint. I love their chamango but even just the nieve by itself is amazing! The line is almost always long but it moves very quickly, but even if it doesn't trust me they are worth the wait!! The inside seating area is very small and is usually packed with people waiting to order so I always get my order to go. Everyone there is very nice and they will let you sample the ice cream if you're unsure of what to order. It's the perfect treat on those hot Cali days!

Ahh I love this place. I been hooked since day one. Their raspados are so good and you have the option to add a scoop of ice cream! Yummm! The esquite is SO good. It's fresh corn!! Not canned corn. The ice cream is so good and taste so fresh. So refreshing during summer time. The diablitos are one of my favorites. You can pick different flavors for it. I have tried the mango, vanilla, watermelon, lemon, guava. All so good. The fresas con crema are okay, just depends on how you like the cream because it was not runny. It was more of a thicker consistency. I think their ice creams are a decent price. We paid 40$ for all this and I think it was the fresas and esquite that were the most pricey. The service is good. I've gone on a busier day too and they are nice, never rude. Definitely recommend!

Visitation Rights: Been here a handful of times. Credit Cards: They're accepted, but they tack on a surcharge fee. Use cash to bypass the fee. Restroom: No restroom available Wait Time: Lines can be long, but eventually you'll be able to get your mexican ice cream/sorbet/drink cravings satisfied. Location/Parking: Located inside a plaza between Adelia Ave. and Potrero Ave.. Plenty of parking in the shared lot. Ambiance/Decor: Alright ambiance. Most of the patrons mostly get it to go. There are couple of tables outside for you to sit and enjoy. Service: Service is pretty good. Staffers are friendly, offer great suggestions, and doesn't take long to get your purchase. Garcias Fruit Of Choice: I mostly get their: 1) Pina aguas frescas with no ice ($5 for a large) to maximize on liquid consumption. Very fresh, refreshing, and made to order. 2) Chamango is quite satisfying to consume. I usually order with less chamoy sauce, because I don't really like the spicy taste much. 3) Strawberry and Mango Shorbet: Once in a while, I do like to treat myself to a strawberry and mango shorbet ($4 cup). It is quite solid. 4) Elote in a cup: It's alright, but the corn they use is a bit hard. I do like the concept of having the corn kernals cut from the cobb, because it eliminates the mess and not having the corn get stuck between your teeth when you bite into it is a WIN for me. Garcias Fruit For Thought: Definitely don't mind patronizing this shop.

Best Chamango in LA, great home made ice cream too with low prices and friendly service to boot. Whether on a hot day or cool day, there's something at Garcia's for you. I am hooked on the Chamango flavor profile so that is my go too. The large Chamango here is only $7.50 plus tax and that has 5 scoops of sherbet in it with a tamarind stick (which I decline). I prefer the mango and pineapple sherbets but there are many to choose from They will let you sample ice creams and gave generous size samples. I don't like cherry flavored desserts (because it reminds me of cough syrup) but was given a sample of the black cherry ice cream today and it was really good. Like , I may buy it next time good. The coffee ice cream was also very good. Paying cash is preferred.

Discovered this spot a couple years ago and it's been my go-to for Chamango!! It's a pretty small shop that sells snacks of all sorts. Their service is pretty decent as I've personally haven't had a bad encounter yet. It's honestly the best during the summer since mangos are sweet and ripe. I tend to come here less in the colder seasons since the mangos are too hard and kind of raw, but hey, that's a personal preference!

Garcia's fruits is my all time favorite shop for Mexican ice cream, snacks, and slushes. [Food 5/5]: Im obsessed with the chamango here. There are a ton of flavors you can mix and match with. I love how they are cleaner than most other places I've been to. They put mango bits on the bottom and on top. They always also put the right amount of spicy sauce in. The chips here is also super good! This is probably the only store that I know that sells Mexican snacks that you normally find from people who sell rolling their carts at the park. [Service 5/5]: There may be long lines, but the service is pretty quick after paying. All the staff have always been super friendly, which I appreciate since it does get a bit busy and hectic. They charge a $0.50 if you use card, so try to bring cash if you can. There's plenty of public parking in the plaza. Their ice cream is extremely refreshing and delicious on a hot day. I will definitely be back!

i love this place. i love acai in general, but other places don't hit the same as vita cane…read more firstly, they allow as much toppings as they offer and your bowl can hold. what!! don't go easy on the toppings. they really make the bowl. the acai part is always amazing as well. i usually only get the acai and the mango flavors, but the other options did not disappoint those few times i got them. i forgot if they also allow an unlimited amount of base flavors. probably. i love the wide variety of toppings and bases they have. it makes me feel like i have freedom, like this is why i live in america in the first place. i always get loads of fruit because i like acting healthy and also their fruits are pretty good! their granola is awesome too. i usually get the strawberry vanilla, but i'm sure the others are good as well. they also have a few dressing choices, which are honeys and maybe syrups ?? overall, this is an amazing place for a dessert that tastes absolutely awesome while still being healthy! i forgot about the sugarcane (which is kinda what this place is all about)!! never disappoints. i like the really big one with coconut in it. tastes amazing.

Taste-wise it was above average but not the best we have had (that honor goes to Cococane in OC, which also costs less) but still quite good. Didn't have any problems with parking at the lot, but then again we were there on a weeknight.

The server was friendly and took my order. Kiosk ordering is another option. I like their simple menu with specials on occasions. I always get my sugar cane drink with kumquat flavor. Tiny store but serves big flavors! Amazing!!! Need to go back!!…read more One of the best sugar cane drinks I've ever had! (Better than Vita Cane in my opinion) All natural juices, no added sugars, no preservatives, made fresh daily! Half Cane Half Coco (half sugar cane and half coconut, large, iced, $9 plus tax) The sugar cane flavor was super prominent, and it tasted so good! It also comes with a few pieces of coconut. Glad that they didn't add too much ice. Would have loved to get it without ice, but $15 for a large without ice is quite pricey. They also have a special deal for the day, not sure how often they change the deals, but you could get a medium drink of their special for $5.50 which is not bad! The special for today was the pineapple sugarcane. The menu is not super big, which I like, while still having a good number of options. They have a kiosk for you to order or you can order with the staff. The staff member was nice to give me some recs when I asked what's popular. They also have dehydrated chili mango for sale on the side for $6.50 per container. The inside was nice and clean. I don't recall if there are seats. It's mostly an order-and-go type of place. It wasn't busy when I went around 1pm, and the drink only took 3 minutes to be ready! Lots of parking spaces in the parking lot shared with other businesses. Fresh Cane has its own reserved parking right in front of their store, so that was very convenient! Never knew a store like this existed so close to me!! I was in desperate need of hydration, so I decided to check this place out and I'm so glad I did! Highly recommend!!
