I got the esquite and it was not very good, there was just a tiny bit of the mayonnaise and cheese that they put on the top and the rest of my cup was just plan corn, for the small cup it was $5.50 and to me I've seen better prices, the lady was super nice I would love to give this place another try. It is very small shop. Staff is friendly, and I ordered a mango favored drink and some street food style snacks because I was thirsty. Both the drink and the snake were too spicy to my liking. The drink was not helping me with my thirsty because the taste was too strong. However, the frozen mango inside the drink was tasty! I will only come back if I am hungry and want something to snack on, but not buying a drink because I am thirsty. read more

Open til 10pm, which is perfect because most businesses close at 9pm. I ordered a mangoneada, I was disappointed that it was pre-made, that the guy just took it out of the freezer. I'm used to going to other locations where they'd scoop ice cream and drizzle chamoy all over the cup and put tamarindo after. The taste was really good though so I can't complain. The store was really simple, very straightforward. It didn't have any pictures or menu with pricing. It only listed what they offered. I would give you 0 but that's not possible so I give you a 1. The man servicing us was very rude. We asked for an "esquite" and usually they ask before they serve you anything with chilli. When we got it back with chilli and we told him that we didn't want it with chilli he answered "well you should've said that". I am so happy to have found a local spot with a variety of paletas. I thoroughly enjoyed the limón and fresa flavored paletas. They are so refreshing, especially with the heat this past week. When the proprietor grabbed the smallest cup available for the 3 scoops of ice cream I ordered I probably should have said something but I didn't want to be rude. A lesson learned. Yummy! I love paletas! I got their strawberries and cream, nuez, coconut, watermelon, chocobanana and the chocolate covered strawberry paleta. They are delicious. I love how it just has the right amount of sweetness. The chocolate covered strawberry paleta is dipped generously in chocolate. They don't skimp when they dip their paletas or bananas in chocolate. I keep trying to tell myself that it's healthy since the ingredients are all natural. I seriously could eat like 3 paletas a day, but I try to stick to a 2 paleta limit per day. I haven't had too many paletas but thought this was decent. They do have quite a bit of flavors to choose from as well as by the scoops which I was able to sample some. I ended up getting strawberry which had fresh strawberries in it which were good. I was informed they make all of the ice creams in house. The only thing I didn't like too much of it was that it seemed to melt really quick. I usually like licking my ice creams vs biting them so there was a lot of dripping because it melted so quick. In addition to paletas, they also have juices. The place itself is really small, no tables, really narrow. Also it didn't look too clean inside. Then again I wasn't expecting much from that part of El Monte. For the price of the paletas, it wasn't too bad. read more

Came here one night before their closing time because I was craving ice cream near home. Ordered four paletas: nuez, chamango, strawberry and strawberry dipped in chocolate and nuts. We got charged 13 dollars and some change. I was shocked by this because on the pricing board it said the paletas were all under two dollars and it wasn't like we were ordering anything out of the norm. Besides the fact that we ordered one dipped in chocolate, I was a bit confused. So I then asked the guy charging us, and he said that we got the paletas with "cream" and it has special pricing. It annoyed me because it did not say that anywhere in the store, and he did not mention that when he was explaining the flavors they had. Not only did we receive bad service, but I felt rushed out. Honestly the paletas weren't even worth it and did not have a good creamy taste. All four of us that had a paleta were disappointed in the bland taste. A lot of people rave about this place, but I personally would not come back again. I never give out one stars unless it really made a bad impression, and this place really made me feel unwelcome and unimpressed. read more

I usually love paletas. We actually came here just to try their paletas. Although they have a lot of options, their paletas were disappointing. First, they melted so quick. Right when we got them, it already started to drop. Second, the coconut in my coconut paletas was not evenly distributed, so I only got the coconut flakes when I was basically finished. The place also seemed dirty and not well maintained. The service was not great. When we asked what he recommended, he simply said he did not know. Went in wanting a raspado and walked out with a strawberry ice cream bar and ice cream cone. So I guess La Michoacana paleteria and Paleteria La Michoacana are two different businesses. Well, my rating is based on the ice cream and the location. The place is fairly small and it's very dirty. I would think it would be super clean based on the size of this place. I have to say that the ice cream taste like all strawberry ice cream bars I've tasted. It taste just like the ones I sometimes buy from the paletero for $1, same as the ones I buy from the market also for $1. I don't know how much they cost here. I'm guessing under $2. I also bought a single scoop of strawberry ice cream on a cone. I think it's average ice cream. I paid $4 for both. Customer service: well there was an older couple there, I'm not sure if they're the owners but they're not very welcoming. I don't think I'll be making the drive to this place soon. read more

Very Creamy and yummy paletas. $1.75 each. Don't expect much from this store. It is literally just freezers of ice cream. No seating space or anything. More of a Grab & Go type of store. You get a variety of flavors on the wall which you can choose from. Watermelon - Very Sweet! Holy Cow it was too sweet. It was good but if it had a little less sugar, it would have been better. Arroz (rice) - Chunky Rice Pudding - it was very creamy and had chunks of rice in it. The Cinnamon accented very well. Almost like a Horchata Bar but creamier. It was very tasty. Chamoy - A mixture of tang, spicy, sour & sweet. It was very sour! It is sour to the point where you pucker your lips and squint your eyes from being so sour. This place has such BOMB ice cream. It's wayyyy better than rite aid or Baskin Robbins if you ask me. The texture of it is so different from all the other ice cream places, which is why it stands out the most. It's so unique that I can't even seem to describe it; it's very smooth with a hint of iciness to it. The texture is like half ice cream half froyo kinda. I've tried the lime one which is pretty sour for me, but still very good. Today I just got the guava one and it was super tasty. They also let you sample flavors as well just in case you can't make up your mind. Their Popsicles are also super yummy. They have a bunch of different flavors, mostly fruity and creamy ones. The fruity ones taste super light and fresh, kinda like eating fresh fruit on a hot day. The creamy ones are really milky, so it gives it a heavier taste, but is still delicious to eat at the same time. Everything here is dirt cheap, prices are great, and the service is really friendly. The man saw that we had two dogs, but they're not allowed inside and he seemed very sincere and apologetic when he told us they couldn't be in here. He even shared his dog stories with us since him and his wife own two dogs. Definitely will be back to try other flavors. read more

Your local ice cream bar shop :) I came at night with a punch of friends because we were all done eating the ice cream parlors around the area. I have ALWAYS been a fan of paletas and always end up getting th $1 fruit bars from Ralphs that come in a box. However, this is so much better! Come here if you want a break or just a different experience from your typical american ice cream parlor for the night :) worth it. Environment - La Michoacana has a feel of authenticity to it. I used to go to the outskirts of Ensenada every summer and I wold have paletas with my friends often. The store might not look as clean as your typical American restaurants or ice cream parlors in the state, but it has a Grade A according to Los Angeles Public Health Departments; yay! Service - All of the workers speak a little bit of English but their primary language is Spanish. Despite the language barrier, the workers are very attentive and will service you before helping someone behind you, even when you cannot decide what flavor to get. My friends and I took a long time decide but they were very kind to answer all of our questions and even give us samples. Food - Options between hand scooped ice cream, water or milk ice cream. Everyone in my group had water paletas. All the flavors come in all three options. All of the paletas are $1.75 except the ones with cream.. they are $3.00.. I didn't know that bu that was okay. I'm not sure if this is a good price for paletas because you can totally go to Ralphs or another Hispanic supermarket and get fruit bars for $1... but this is totally work the experience. Like I said, I love ICE CREAM!! Came here after having dinner with my family. We always tend to make room for desserts after our family feasts. This place looked like a family owned shop. They have plenty of flavors to choose from. They sale both pop bars and ice cream scoops in a cup or cone. I settled with Pistachio, my sister got the Walnut flavored pop bar, it also looked like there were some walnuts chopped up on the bottom of the bar. My other sister got the cookies and cream. I have not tried a paleta until recently, and I have totally been missing out. On my first trip, I tried the rice and walnut. The rice one reminded me of horchata. It had chunks of rice and cinnamon stick in it. I loved the texture. The walnut paleta's flavor was subtle but had a lot of walnut pieces at the bottom. My sister got the strawberries and cream and my mom got the strawberries and milk. Be aware that the cream paletas cost more at $3, while the other paletas cost $1.75. I felt like the strawberries and milk one tasted better. After my first paleta, I could not stop craving it. It's like a drug. I went back the following weekend, and the man that works there remembered me! Haha! I tried the guava fruit paleta but did not enjoy it as much. It had a lot of guava flavor, but was also very sweet and had seeds. Some people might appreciate the texture from the seeds, but I didn't enjoy them getting stuck in my teeth. This place may be kind of difficult to find. It is located in a plaza with a Chinese market and Great China Buffet. I am so glad that this place opens late. They also serve ice cream and chamango/mangoneadas, amongst other Hispanic snacks. Hmm. What should I try next?! read more

I ordered a chicharrón it comes with cabbage, tomato, sour cream & cueritos. Avocado also but when I went I was told they ran out, which I said was okay. I dont recommend it, It was all soggy. My plate looked like soup from how much juice it had. I'm guessing from the cueritos when he scooped it on there. It gave me asco I ended up throwing away. I think even the dude that made it knew it looked nasty because I went back, asked if he can put cucumbers because it just seemed too plain. He said yes & he even offered to add more cueritos at no charge. I also got a single cone bubble gum ice cream, my son liked it. Over all, I wouldn't come back. For a chicharrón & ice cream it was almost 10$ don't feel like it was worth it. read more
