    Joule offers a nice twist on Korean food in a small, cozy setting. It's a great date night spot if you're looking for something a little classier, but still casual. The food was delicious and the meat was tender. Our favorite dish was the Chinese scallion pancake. Their drinks also didn't disappoint. Although, their portion sizes are pretty small for the price, and I wouldn't recommend planning on sharing entrees, but sharing appetizers is okay. The restaurant is small and can get packed, so make a reservation. Despite being busy, the staff and chefs keep up with the crowd well and are friendly. Overall, Joule is a little expensive, but worth trying once if you like Korean fusion food.

    Very chill nice vibes here! They offer really interesting asian fusion dishes here. Got the spciy rice cake (with chorizo, pickled mustard green), "that" short rib steak (kalbi, grilled kimchi), chinese scallion pancake with smoked salmon roe & creme fraiche. The presentation of the item was great! I thought the most interesting out of the three is the chinese scallion pancake as they added a very unique twist with the smoked salmon roe and creme fraiche, first time eating it like this!

    Rice cakes with chorizo was yummy, the duck breast was a bit standard but tender and the burger was unique and tasty. I would say overall a good restaurant! The service was good but I will say the automatic 22% charge was rough, but they waitresses were kind. Ambiance was quite quaint, and definitely a good place for a nice date night!

    I'd been meaning to try this place for a long time and finally stopped by on a Saturday evening. Overall, it was a meh experience. Service was good and the interior is dimly lit, giving it a lounge-like vibe. We ordered four dishes to share: Bone marrow: Came with toast, pretty good Spicy rice cakes: Had a fusion taste that wasn't really my palate Kalbi steak: Good flavor NY strip steak: Dry and tough For the price, I didn't think it was worth it. Glad I finally checked it off my list, but the food overall was disappointing.

    Absolutely INSANE. This might be my new favorite restaurant in Seattle. All of the dishes are incredible, the flavors are complex but go so well together. I recommend ordering a couple different dishes and splitting them. My favorites are the spicy rice cakes - the chorizo was insane, and the Kalbi burger (top 5 in Seattle). You can't go wrong with the black garlic noodles, smoked tofu, chicory salad- I loved the Asian pear with the smoked nuts, or Chinese broccoli. We also got the Jalisco campfire, a vodka cocktail at the top of the menu (amazing and sweet), as well as a gin cocktail + peach margarita = all were 10/10. The servers were amazing, attentive and knowledgeable. I recommend getting a reservation because there is a smaller amount of inside and outside (covered with heat), making it a more intimate space. Could not recommend enough, can't go wrong with anything.

    We went to Joule on a Friday evening, and it's a wonderful Korean-American fusion spot. Drinks For drinks, we ordered the Summer Fling and the Blackberry Barley Bramble. The Summer Fling was delightful--citrusy and fruity. It's a great refreshing and vibrant summer drink. The Blackberry Barley Bramble is more on the sweet side, very rich with ripe blackberry fruit flavor. Both were delicious! Dishes For appetizers, we ordered the Kimchi Trio, which included turnip, traditional kimchi, and beetroots. We liked the beetroot kimchi. It was surprisingly balanced between sweetness, tang, and a spicy sauce. The turnip kimchi was less flavorful for us. I didn't really like the raw, earthy taste and fibrous texture of the turnip. For our main dishes, we had: Spicy Rice Cake: This was definitely a highlight! Both the rice cake and the meat were charred really well, giving them a nutty, toasty flavor and crisp texture. Short Rib Steak: The steak was tender and the sauce was very nice, but the real highlight for us was the grilled kimchi side. It was charred perfectly, and its toasty flavor paired wonderfully with the spiciness. Kalbi Burger: This was very juicy, like a typical good burger. Another highlight was, again, the side of pickled vegetables! They weren't too sour and were balanced very well. Octopus: The octopus was charred nicely and complemented the vegetables and sweet sauce underneath. Overall, it's a great place with excellent service. Our server gave us really good recommendations on both drinks and food portioning. The environment is nice--cozy and light-hearted, not too fancy--making it a perfect spot for a Friday night.

    We went to joule for a date night pre concert on a Saturday night and had a great time. We were seated promptly (we had a reservation) and the ambience inside is very chic. Food wise, I'd say almost everything was incredible. We started with the scallop fried rice, definitely recommend. Then the broccolini, this was fine in my opinion, but was probably my least favorite out of everything we ordered. Not bad, but just okay. For our mains, we split the "that" short rib steak and the mackerel. My favorite was the mackerel, the sauce and the cook and the crunch of the skin was just perfection. However my partners favorite was the short rib, which i also thought was delicious, just a little fattier than I normally prefer. But it had a great sear and the little bit of sauce you get on the side was so yummy. We decided we were in the mood for something sweet and couldn't decide which one to get, so we compromised and got two: the sticky jujube pudding and the miso maple s'mores cake. My biggest feedback would be that they were both incredibly dry, but the sticky pudding did at least have a really strong ginger snap type flavor. So while overall dinner was really good, I would not order desert here again. Service was pretty great, but it seemed like they only had a few people for a very full night so drink refills did take a while. It wasn't an issue for us, but just something to take note of. And when they were at our table they were very kind. I would go back, because there are other things I'd like to try for sure! I also commend them bc the couple next to us was very obnoxious and within 20 minutes of us sitting down, the gentleman dropped his glass of whatever he was drinking and it went all over the bench seat that I was next to and on my pants. The guy barely even looked my direction and definitely did not apologize, but the person who came to help clean up did check on me to make sure I was okay. Everyone at the restaurant was very patient with them, despite them not being patient with anyone else.

    Excellent dinner. It was a Monday and we made reservations, still recommended as it started to fill up a little as the meal progressed. Our server was excellent and knowledgeable. Tapas style. Started with the scallion pancake. It came with salmon eggs and chili oil. Both were good additions to the pancake. The saltiness of the eggs were good. The chili oil could have had a little more heat. Next was the spicy rice cake. All real good, cooked with chorizo. Very tasty, just a little on the oily side. Short rib was next. We asked for medium rare and that was perfect. It was cooked a little more throughly from left to right which was great for our party. The short rib was seasoned perfectly with a great char. Finally we had the asparagus with hollandaise and pine nuts. That may have been the star of the night. The asparagus with still crisp while cooked through and hollandaise was perfect. Very good meal, be advised a 22% service charge is added to the check, they do highlight it so it is not a surprise.

    So, I came to Joule to celebrate my birthdate and it was indeed a unique experience. I really enjoyed tasting their unique and flavorful dishes that they intentionally aimed to make different. It provided a whole new taste testing experience that I ended up really enjoying. So, I started off with the Hearts of Palm salad, which is a dish that I generally wouldn't gravitate to, however, it was very good and super unique. We then had the Chinese scallion pancake which I thoroughly enjoyed. For my main course, I had the Kalbi burger, which I was a fan of, however, I kind of wish it came with another side, since I wasn't a fan of the pickled veggies. I also had the opportunity to try the short rib steak, but, I didn't like the sauce on the dish. The meat, however, was very succulent. I also tried the spicy rice cake, but, I wasn't a fan of that dish. To the dessert! This is where they truly excel at. The birthdate cake with Ube ice cream in the middle of the slice is soooo yummy. I wished they sold this as a dessert here! I then surprisingly loved the sesame mochi cake. Every piece kept me wanting more. Then the paper cake was delish! The only dessert that I wasn't necessarily a fan of was the pumpkin red bean cheesecake. It lacked in sweetness to me for a cheesecake. The customer service was good and the waiter was very knowledgeable, attentive, and responsive, however, our food did take awhile to come out. As it relates to the ambience, this place definitely gives date night. The light setting and spacing definitely sets that ambiance. If you made it to the end of this lol let your takeaway be to try their desserts it's a guaranteed win.

    Well-deserved reputation as a neighborhood staple. We had a spectacular birthday feast last night. I'd been there several years ago and I think the food actually got better. Top dishes were the garlic noodle, spicy rice cake, scallion pancake, mackerel, and broccoli - yes, almost everything we ordered. The flavors were nuanced and surprising while also have the lushness of comfort food. We sat on the patio with a sunset view, which was lovely and breezy. Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive, despite a busy night... and gave us a little slice of cake and candle at the end.

    A nice little restaurant tucked in Fremont. Came to Joule for a weeknight date spot and it was amazing. It was our first time at Joule, and the staff was friendly and helped us figure out what dishes to order. Our waiter was also nice and always checked in. We started off by ordering drinks. We ordered the Summer Fling and the Peach Picante. Both delicious and well-balanced. For dishes, we ordered the Chicory Mango Salad, Spicy Rice Cake, "that" Short rib steak, and Kombu-cured Mackerel. Our favorite dish was the Spicy Rice Cake and Kombu-cured Mackerel. We loved the chewy rice cakes paired well with the chorizo. The konbu-cured mackerel was tender and paired well with the cilantro chimichurri. Such a smart and amazing dish concept. And we can't forget about dessert. For dessert, we ordered the Joule box and Sticky jujube pudding. Neither was overly sweet, which I enjoyed. Highly recommend checking out Joule if you're ever in the Fremont neighborhood.

    Pros: ambience , food does taste good and is good quality. Cons: very pricy, small portion, not authentic (to be fair, it's fusion so it's not supposed to be authentic) This is a place for someone who is not familiar with Asian food and has a higher than most food budget for a meal.

    3/3.5 stars. Food was fine, service was great. Beef tartare ($15): salty, slightly spicy which was nice but meat was chewier than I expected. It wasn't soft or tough, just chewier than compared to other places where I've had it. Garlic noodles ($23): good portion size, hearty and comforting, but the mushrooms were salty. Smashed new potato ($14): big portion, but black sesame yogurt was just a smear on the inside and didn't really add much flavor to the dish. Tamarind cumin lamb sirloin ($34): half of this was so chewy my friend and I just had to spit the bits out. I liked the tomato and squash additions even if they didn't seem like they entirely fit the flavors of the rest of the dish. Pandan coconut cheesecake ($10): I was relieved to find that you can't mess up dessert and pandan + coconut is always an easy pairing.

    Always get a reservation, but they have seats at the bar inside and outside. Single diners will be quite comfortable at Joule.

We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. If they can work on timing the drinks and food this place would be a 5 out 5, but will deduct a star because of that. The overall vibe of the place was nice. Huge layout with wooden picnic style tables. Outdoor tables if you're lucky to get one. Large tanks to brew beer surrounding the room and a merch table.

I really liked the painting on the wall! The bathrooms were super clean. My Shirley Temple was amazing. My fish and chips we're so crisp and crunchy. The steak cooked medium rare was amazing.     What it really comes down to for me is expectations being set based on pricing…read more Let's say I go to a restaurant and the cost of everything is $100 (for the math, not the realism). In Seattle, I know that there's a 10% sales tax so I would be expecting to pay about $130 after tax and tip. under this system, I order my food, the subtotal is $100, I see that I'm being charged a service charge at 21% on $110 which means I'm paying $133.00 and based on the wording of the menu, my server is getting screwed because the business is keeping that money. also, it is pretty fucked up to charge 21% on the after tax amount. Service charges and tip should be on the pre-tax amount, nobody at Seattle City Hall helped the service staff to bus dishes, or to deliver my food. So now I feel like I need to add another $20 which leaves me with $20 less and a negative final experience at the restaurant. I would much rather the menu price reflect the $119.75 pre-tax, which is still $133 with tax before tip. I don't mind spending $150 on food, when I think that's what I was going to be spending. I do mind spending that when the math seems sketchy. I don't like feeling taken advantage of, which is what the policy and the wording of the policy left me feeling at the end of the night. I suggested to the owner is it to just raise your prices to reflect your fixed costs and either get rid of tipping entirely or get rid of the service charge.
