Service: 5+ stars for Donna who was our server. Ambiance: 4 stars- noise about average bit the tables were set far apart which was nice Food: 4.5 stars Street parking but we lucked out right in front. We got ordered the smoked tofu, green tea duck, spicy rice cakes, mackerel. The duck and rice cakes were my favorite. It was just enough for 3 of us (not big eaters). We also got a complimentary dessert for a birthday celebration and we also orders the strawberry potentially cake. We would definitely come back to try more as the burger and short ribs looked good.

Came here for Seattle restaurant week and had an overall decent time. We had reservations and they were able to add a last minute alteration to the reservation (adding a high chair). Our table was ready as soon as we got there and there's a decent amount of street parking around. Our server was very friendly and welcoming. Food also came out at a decent pace. All the staff there were actually very friendly. Food wasn't my favorite, and at $65 per person for SRW, I don't think it was worth it. The bacon and shrimp dumplings were good and the sauce was excellent. But the second course, the wagyu, left a lot to be desired. Everyone got inconsistent sized portions and each of our meats were incredibly rare, so it was very chewy and hard to cut through. Sauce was good on this one as well though. Dessert was solid. Panna cotta was decent but the crumble cake was great. I'd come back and try their other stuff. But wouldn't go out of my way for it.

I can't remember what brought me to booking a reservation here for our family, but boy am I glad I did. I could just tell this restaurant was going to be a great experience from the moment we arrived. Friendly staff greeted us as we arrived and quickly showed us to our table. The atmosphere was warm and energetic, full of diners eating, drinking and enjoying conversation. After a quick scan of the menu, we quickly made our decision to order as many dishes as we could and share. We went for the beef tartare, Chinese scallion pancake, smoked tofu, kimchi trio, spicy rice cake, Chinese broccoli, "that" short rib steak, Kalbi burger, and the kombu cured mackerel. Everything was #brokedamout. The standouts to me were the scallion pancake, short rib, Kalbi burger and mackerel. Parking is available on the street and in private lots. We're already trying to figure out when we can get back here again before we leave. We'll certainly be back.

I've been to Joule close to 10 times at this point and have always had a great meal. We happened to be there for the start of Restaurant Week and I greatly appreciate that they didn't phone it in - the food was awesome! Starter was bacon and shrimp dumplings with spring peas and pea vines - simply delicious. The au jus was addicting and the spring veg added such a nice contrast to the dumplings. Entree was nettle crusted halibut snd it was perfectly cooked. Again, the sauce was so addictive I could've licked the plate. Dessert was a Darjeeling panna cotta that was dairy free - so good! Our friend's Paper Cake Marion berry slice was also delicious. What makes Joule standout even more is their service - Brandy in particular. She is warm, friendly, helpful and someone you want to be friends with. I love coming when she's there. I'll come back again and again.

Joule offers a nice twist on Korean food in a small, cozy setting. It's a great date night spot if you're looking for something a little classier, but still casual. The food was delicious and the meat was tender. Our favorite dish was the Chinese scallion pancake. Their drinks also didn't disappoint. Although, their portion sizes are pretty small for the price, and I wouldn't recommend planning on sharing entrees, but sharing appetizers is okay. The restaurant is small and can get packed, so make a reservation. Despite being busy, the staff and chefs keep up with the crowd well and are friendly. Overall, Joule is a little expensive, but worth trying once if you like Korean fusion food.

Be sure to book a reservation just in case. This is an Asian fusion inspired restaurant with flavors that enlighten your palate with warm and savory dishes, leaving you cleaning every plate on the table. The roasted halibut with the nori puree provided a creamy pairing for the savory dish. A side of Chinese broccoli and salad added the right amount of wonderful greenery to the table leaving us full and refreshed from a health dinner.

Food was delicious... we enjoyed the scallion pancake with salmon roe, scallion noodles, rice cakes, kimchi, mackerel and steak. The mackerel and steak were standouts. Both proteins were well prepared, so tasty and just delicious. This is absolutely worth a repeat visit.

I'd been meaning to try this place for a long time and finally stopped by on a Saturday evening. Overall, it was a meh experience. Service was good and the interior is dimly lit, giving it a lounge-like vibe. We ordered four dishes to share: Bone marrow: Came with toast, pretty good Spicy rice cakes: Had a fusion taste that wasn't really my palate Kalbi steak: Good flavor NY strip steak: Dry and tough For the price, I didn't think it was worth it. Glad I finally checked it off my list, but the food overall was disappointing.

Very chill nice vibes here! They offer really interesting asian fusion dishes here. Got the spciy rice cake (with chorizo, pickled mustard green), "that" short rib steak (kalbi, grilled kimchi), chinese scallion pancake with smoked salmon roe & creme fraiche. The presentation of the item was great! I thought the most interesting out of the three is the chinese scallion pancake as they added a very unique twist with the smoked salmon roe and creme fraiche, first time eating it like this!

Rice cakes with chorizo was yummy, the duck breast was a bit standard but tender and the burger was unique and tasty. I would say overall a good restaurant! The service was good but I will say the automatic 22% charge was rough, but they waitresses were kind. Ambiance was quite quaint, and definitely a good place for a nice date night!

Absolutely INSANE. This might be my new favorite restaurant in Seattle. All of the dishes are incredible, the flavors are complex but go so well together. I recommend ordering a couple different dishes and splitting them. My favorites are the spicy rice cakes - the chorizo was insane, and the Kalbi burger (top 5 in Seattle). You can't go wrong with the black garlic noodles, smoked tofu, chicory salad- I loved the Asian pear with the smoked nuts, or Chinese broccoli. We also got the Jalisco campfire, a vodka cocktail at the top of the menu (amazing and sweet), as well as a gin cocktail + peach margarita = all were 10/10. The servers were amazing, attentive and knowledgeable. I recommend getting a reservation because there is a smaller amount of inside and outside (covered with heat), making it a more intimate space. Could not recommend enough, can't go wrong with anything.

We went to Joule on a Friday evening, and it's a wonderful Korean-American fusion spot. Drinks For drinks, we ordered the Summer Fling and the Blackberry Barley Bramble. The Summer Fling was delightful--citrusy and fruity. It's a great refreshing and vibrant summer drink. The Blackberry Barley Bramble is more on the sweet side, very rich with ripe blackberry fruit flavor. Both were delicious! Dishes For appetizers, we ordered the Kimchi Trio, which included turnip, traditional kimchi, and beetroots. We liked the beetroot kimchi. It was surprisingly balanced between sweetness, tang, and a spicy sauce. The turnip kimchi was less flavorful for us. I didn't really like the raw, earthy taste and fibrous texture of the turnip. For our main dishes, we had: Spicy Rice Cake: This was definitely a highlight! Both the rice cake and the meat were charred really well, giving them a nutty, toasty flavor and crisp texture. Short Rib Steak: The steak was tender and the sauce was very nice, but the real highlight for us was the grilled kimchi side. It was charred perfectly, and its toasty flavor paired wonderfully with the spiciness. Kalbi Burger: This was very juicy, like a typical good burger. Another highlight was, again, the side of pickled vegetables! They weren't too sour and were balanced very well. Octopus: The octopus was charred nicely and complemented the vegetables and sweet sauce underneath. Overall, it's a great place with excellent service. Our server gave us really good recommendations on both drinks and food portioning. The environment is nice--cozy and light-hearted, not too fancy--making it a perfect spot for a Friday night.

We went to joule for a date night pre concert on a Saturday night and had a great time. We were seated promptly (we had a reservation) and the ambience inside is very chic. Food wise, I'd say almost everything was incredible. We started with the scallop fried rice, definitely recommend. Then the broccolini, this was fine in my opinion, but was probably my least favorite out of everything we ordered. Not bad, but just okay. For our mains, we split the "that" short rib steak and the mackerel. My favorite was the mackerel, the sauce and the cook and the crunch of the skin was just perfection. However my partners favorite was the short rib, which i also thought was delicious, just a little fattier than I normally prefer. But it had a great sear and the little bit of sauce you get on the side was so yummy. We decided we were in the mood for something sweet and couldn't decide which one to get, so we compromised and got two: the sticky jujube pudding and the miso maple s'mores cake. My biggest feedback would be that they were both incredibly dry, but the sticky pudding did at least have a really strong ginger snap type flavor. So while overall dinner was really good, I would not order desert here again. Service was pretty great, but it seemed like they only had a few people for a very full night so drink refills did take a while. It wasn't an issue for us, but just something to take note of. And when they were at our table they were very kind. I would go back, because there are other things I'd like to try for sure! I also commend them bc the couple next to us was very obnoxious and within 20 minutes of us sitting down, the gentleman dropped his glass of whatever he was drinking and it went all over the bench seat that I was next to and on my pants. The guy barely even looked my direction and definitely did not apologize, but the person who came to help clean up did check on me to make sure I was okay. Everyone at the restaurant was very patient with them, despite them not being patient with anyone else.

    Ask the Community - Joule

Is it hard to find parking around this restaurant on the weekend?

    Is there still a buffet?

    No, there is no buffet.

Did you discontinue your weekend brunch buffet?

    Is the restaurant 21+?

Nope, there was a family sitting next to me.

    Any Vegan options?

Yes! Their menu is very clear about which items are vegan, gluten free, nut free, etc.

Do they take reservations for brunch?

Yes and you can reserve it on Opentable, too

When do they ever do buffet?

    On weekends for brunch.

    Is the patio dog friendly?

Not unless your dog is a service animal.

Are there any menu options suitable for Vegan diners?

They have a seasonal menu, so you can call and ask. I believe they had a vegetable option and they were very kind to make accommodations for my plate. I just looked at the menu online and there seemed to be a few vegan options.

Is there space for a solo diner to attend the brunch buffet, or is it usually too crowded?

Always get a reservation, but they have seats at the bar inside and outside. Single diners will be quite comfortable at Joule.

The staff seemed distracted, but they at least did not appear to be cranky or hostile. The karaoke selection was lacking, and as a queer man I was uncomfortable seeing that all David Bowie songs were pointedly crossed out in the books. Reviews had suggested that the Monkey Pub, despite being located in the U District, had a clientele of more than just college students; this may be true on non-karaoke nights, but when I went, it had the same college-kid crowd as anywhere else in the neighborhood. Drink selection was average. Indeed, the bar itself was largely average. I found no evidence of anything particularly dramatically terrible on my visit to the Monkey Pub, but nothing to get excited about either. Only worth it for karaoke if you're desperate. Probably an okay place to get a drink, but I didn't really detect much of the character and "local flavor" that usually makes a good dive bar worth the trip.

The potatoes recipe need to be completely refined, or they need to offer a substitution option for them. They are overly soft and they don't have nearly enough seasoning. Originally opened in 1934, the Blue Moon carries the kind of atmosphere you cannot recreate -- walls covered in decades of music, art, stickers, photographs, and stories. A dimly lit room packed with musicians, writers, artists, and people who genuinely appreciate creativity in its raw form. Throughout the night, the stage moved between live music, poetry, and performances from local artists while the crowd filled the tavern from the bar to the stage floor. Places like this remind me why independent art still matters. As an author traveling all over the United States -- and as someone who lived in the Seattle area for 2 1/2 years -- standing on that stage reading poetry from Purple Rose in a venue with this much history behind it was really something special. What I loved most was how welcoming the environment was. This is a very LGBTQ-friendly, art-friendly space where people genuinely support one another. If you are brand new to open mics or nervous about sharing your work for the first time, this is the kind of place where you will absolutely be shown kindness and encouragement. There were so many talented musicians, poets, and performers there, and you could really feel the appreciation for creativity throughout the room. The setup of the tavern itself is awesome. The stage and seating area wrap around the bar in almost a U-shape, so you can really choose your own vibe for the night. If you want to stay close to the performances and music, there is a dance floor and table area near the stage. If you want something more relaxed, you can hang back near the bar, have a drink, and still enjoy the atmosphere without being directly in the middle of everything. They also have a full bar, arcade games, board games, books to read, and even a small library on the shelves throughout the tavern. The Bun Cha Ca La Vong - the vermicelli bowl with Washington coast rockfish and imperial rolls. The rockfish is tender and savory. And Ba Bars imperial rolls are some of the best in the city. At least one of us and often both of us get this every time we go. It's that good. Occasionally we'll also get the lemongrass chicken which is also very good. We enjoy these dishes so much we've never tried the Pho or soup noodles. The staff is always friendly.

I wanted to order Bun cha ca la vong but they ran out, so I got bun cha Ha Noi instead. I liked how the meat was grilled on charcoal cuz I could see the slightly dark crust on the outside, that's what made it authentic! I didn't really like the pork ball that inside the nuoc cham tho! It had some strange taste to it that I was not familiar with, and I wish the texture was a bit more firm! Overall, it was a good dinner and the service was fast! My drink was good too and the interiors was nice! I saw there is a "Quay Banh Cuon", I got hyped for a second thinking it was a real banh cuon bar but it was just for decoration lol! We will definitely come back!

JOEY Kitchen continues to be one of my favorite restaurants. The food was great across the board,…read moreand the service handled a long wait about as well as anyone could. Get: Miso Roasted Mushrooms, Herb Crush Salmon, Katsu Chicken Peanut Salad Skip: Nothing we ordered The Herb Crush Salmon came with truffle beurre blanc, creamy mashed potatoes, preserved tomatoes and vegetables. It was a very good, well-rounded entrée. The Katsu Chicken Peanut Salad was another winner, with crispy chicken, julienned vegetables, peanuts and miso ginger dressing. It felt substantial enough to be a full meal rather than a salad you regret ordering when everyone else's food arrives. We shared the Miso Roasted Mushrooms, made with shallots and white wine, and those were excellent too. The Individually Baked Apple Tart was worth it, but took a while to arrive. We were asking for the check instead when it arrived. The wait was long, but the complimentary champagne and mocktails were a thoughtful touch, and the service throughout was great. Overall, another excellent meal at one of my go-to restaurants in Seattle.

Went to Joey at the U Village location since I love the food and was in the area. Walked in and…read morethey were able to move my reservation up from 5:30 to 3:30 P.M. Great first impression since this was my sister's first time at Joey, or so I thought. We get seated at the outside patio and we order water to start. The water glasses came in a very small glass and since it was hot out, we drank our cups fast. I asked our waitress if we could have a pitcher / jug / container of some sort explicitly saying we want to refill our glasses. I suppose there was a miscommunication because a different waitress brought a bottle and then 3 more glasses out. We were then charged $10 for the bottle. I really just wanted a pitcher of tap, ice cold water we could drink since our waitress was not attentive to us whatsoever. My frustrations lie with the service we were given. 3 people eating at Joey is NOT cheap. It took 20 minutes for us to order our drinks and appetizer. Our appetizer came out before our drinks. We waited another 15 minutes for our drinks after that. A different waitress brought them out so at this point we have three waitresses, have been there nearly 50 minutes in the heat, barely any water with NO ice, and still have not ordered our food. I am disappointed since it had died down and there were only 3 other tables occupied outside at this point. Our waitress finally asks for our orders and we wait another 20 minutes for our food to come out. My partner ordered a larger size steak - $7 more. When the plates were brought out my sides were paired with his steak on my plate and vice versa. We asked the waitress can you verify that the 7 oz. steak was present in front of one of us since we were paying more. She left and checked with the chef, but we had to wait even more time before we ate in case they needed to take our plates back. We eat our meal and finish with our plates cleaned, glasses empty, and all stacked with napkins on top indicating we were finished eating. Our waitress walked past multiple times without ever checking in on us. She walked by and I eventually waved my hand and asked for the check. I see the $10 bottle was charged and asked for it to be removed. Thankfully, they did. Food was good as I have eaten Joey at the Bellevue location, but for the $160 tab I am VERY dissatisfied with our service. For the time and money we spent I would have appreciated more check ins, our food plated correctly, and WAY faster service. All in all, we sat there for over an hour and half when it could've been an hour max. Also, we were served room temperature water on a hot day when other tables had ice. Hoping the managers work on service. Don't waste your hard earned time and money by visiting this location, just go to Bellevue. Never had this bad of service there ONCE.
