Got the beef hot stone bibimbap. It was okay, met the typical standard for it. Nothing special, came out to around $22.

Wasn't too sure about this place at first, but man o man... I enjoyed every part of the dining experience.

Love this place! They offer Korean style BBQ or regular dining. The food was amazing! The service was great and it was a quiet Saturday so it was a nice atmosphere. The location can be tricky but totally worth it!

We came in for lunch on a weekday. They were few customers so we received much attention from the waiter. We ordered the unseasoned beef for the table grill. It came with more than a dozen tasty side dishes. Plus, we had dessert drink and fortune cookies. The large exhaust fan was kept off because there was no sauce on the meat (good to know if you want a more quiet eating experience in the intimate booths).

Korean bbq is one of my favorite foods and this place did not disappoint. All of the side dishes were great, we also got the steamed egg. The staff cook the meat for you. All of it tasted great. The kimchi pancake came with a nice sauce.

This a unique KBBQ experience in Baltimore! Unlike other kbbq, they use wood! We got the 1/2 combo set of different beefs 8/10 The banchan was more diverse and decent 8/10 The service and ambiance was a 10/10 They also gave us yogurt probiotic drinks at the end You do need to request the doenjang and lettuce leaves if you want them and wish I knew that we had to request them. They do still give the steamed egg(gyeranjjim) with the meal. If I had one wish it would be to have a bigger portion of sauce. Overall, a fun experience with good service!

We had a blast last night at Jong Kak. We wrote our name down and were told we could go upstairs to the bar to wait. We had strawberry soju and by the time we finished the bottle, a table was ready for us. You get to choose between BBQ or regular seating but we did BBQ. This was our first time being in a place where the grill is not flush against the table and heated from the bottom. They brought the charcoal and put it on the table, then started putting the meat on for us. We did combo 2 and the half portion for 2 people around with their boneless fried chicken. We got the banchan first before the meat and so many of them were right up my alley. The kimchi was very good as were the steamed eggs. We did end up asking for rice towards to end so we could finish up. We greatly appreciated the staff checking in on us and helping cook the meats. We will definitely be back especially for the karaoke that's upstairs and to try different things. We weren't disappointed at all and loved Jong Kak!

Went to this spot for Korean bbq a few weeks back with some friends. Two of us shared an order of one of the sets while the other ordered an a la carte entree with sides. The meat was well seasoned and incredible. Our server was extremely attentive and helpful in making suggestions while we placed our order. My only real gripe is that the location was quite chilly and smoky when we went. One of the bbq's caught fire while we were there which likely contributed to this. All in all, I found this spot to be affordable for the amount of food we received. I would go back!

We were looking for a quick bite before a movie at the Charles Theater and came across Jong Kak. Man o man, I'm glad we did. This Korean barbecue spot is a gem! The barbecue bulgogi was perfect, just the right amount sweet to make you keep going back to it. I knew I needed the bibimbap when I saw it was in a hot stone pot. You could hear the rice crisping up on the bottom of the stone when they brought it out. That's how you know it's good! Super friendly and fast service too!

My co-workers and I wanted to grab some Korean BBQ for lunch, so we went to check this place out. We decided to order cute combo #1! It was delicious!!! Bulgogi And the spicy chicken and spicy pork were amazing! I didn't know this, but if you run out of any of the Aidee you can order more. I also recommend ordering a side of rice. Overall such a great experience with delicious food! The only thing is that once we were done with our food, it took a while to get our check.

Service was friendly and welcoming upon walk-in, but that was the best part of our experience. The food sadly did not match the reputation. EVERYTHING came out lukewarm, the brisket was overcooked and dry, cornbread was burnt and hard, greens had no seasoning, and the baked beans were overwhelmingly vinegary. The bratwurst was underwhelming with no real snap, and even the B-side drink was way too sour. The mac & cheese and coffee BBQ sauce were the only good items of our entire meal. I really hope the kitchen staff was having an uncommon off-day, because this visit didn't reflect the recognition at all. Our meal was a compete letdown, so I hope they improve for future diners soon. If you're talking Baltimore pit beef, Chaps Pit Beef has been a staple for years, and after coming here for over a decade, I can confidently say it still delivers every single time. Their new location, just a stone's throw from the original humble shack, is a huge upgrade. You get the same iconic food, but now with a much larger dining room that actually makes it easy to bring a group without fighting for space. It's the best of both worlds. Same old school flavor with a more comfortable setup. On my most recent visit, I stuck with my go to. A loaded hoagie absolutely packed with pit beef, corned beef, sausage, and turkey. It's massive, messy in the best way, and exactly what you want when you're craving something unapologetically Baltimore. I paired it with a large order of fries, which were piled high and perfect for sharing. Decided to switch it up a bit and try the Holy Cod fish sandwich too, and that ended up being a sleeper hit. Huge portion of crispy fried cod, topped with fresh coleslaw on a soft bun. Not something you usually go to Chaps for, but honestly worth ordering. Everything came out crazy fast, which is always impressive considering how busy they can get. Quick stop at the condiment bar is a must. Load up on the free pickles, onions, Carolina Gold mustard, and that tiger sauce. The horseradish and mayo combo just hits different on pit beef. Bottom line, Chaps might not be a hidden gem anymore, but it doesn't need to be. It still outperforms most spots in the pit beef game and continues to be one of the best sandwiches you can get in Baltimore.

The space is basic, but the food is what keeps people coming back. The portions are big without feeling sloppy. The chicken katsu is solid: crispy on the outside, still juicy inside, and not drowned in sauce. The BBQ plates are dependable -- sweet, smoky, and cooked well -- especially if you like a mix of meats. Nothing feels overdone, and that's kind of the point. The mac salad deserves a mention because it actually tastes like mac salad, not some watered-down side. Creamy, simple, and it pairs well with everything else on the plate. Rice is cooked right, which shouldn't be a big deal, but it is. It's not trying to be trendy or upscale Hawaiian food. It's just straightforward comfort food that fills you up and tastes good. If you're looking for a reliable spot when you want something hearty and familiar, Halo Hawaiian gets the job done.
