OK. This is a very detailed review of one experience. I really liked the place, but there was some lack of attention to detail that dropped them from a five star to a four star. I'm going to review the food, talk about the ambiance, and then list the issues at the end of the review. I would go back, but they are a bit out of the way for us.
First up were the Nashville Hot Chicken Sliders. The chicken was tender, moist and well fried. The flavoring was true to traditional hot chicken, but could have been a tad smokier and sweeter. Overall, I really liked them. It would have been nice if they were offered in different heat levels.
We also ordered the Magherita Flatbread. Again, we were pleased with blend of flavors. The cheese had an excellent flavor. There was a nice taste of what I thought to be olive oil, but I may be mistaken.
For our next "remove", my wife ordered the enchilada soup and I had the salad. We shared our food and agreed it was quite nice. It felt as if you were actually eating an enchilada. The vegetables were fresh in the soup. I judge salads by the quality of the tomatoes. Those in this salad were excellent given the season. It was the best they could do.
My wife ordered the salad and the it was crisp and tasty. The chicken on top was very moist and yummy. She was glad she only ordered the half order, and I can tell you that I could not have finished a full one.
Our son was celebrating his birthday and ordered his favorite dish - fish and chips. He found the fish well done and neither the fish or coating were soggy with oil. Struggling to eat all the food, the last nibble was also free of soggy grease. Well done.
While I'm not an expert on how to cook prime rib, I believe this was one of the best I've ever eaten. I ordered it rare and the meat presented was a nice pink throughout. I believe this to mean it was slow cooked. It was very tender. Previous experience with prime rib has brought me a slab of meat that was brown on near the crust, pink from there and a red center. These poorly cooked pieces could have been cooked too fast, but not here. Prime rib and the accompanying jus are often too salty, but again, not here. Nice balance of flavors.
The baked potato was wonderful. It was one of the biggest I've seen and the potato flavor was excellent.
Ambiance is upscale, no doubt, but plenty of TV screens make this a sports bar, too.
Now for the dings and nits I picked that kept them from a five star rating.
-The server did not ask how I wanted my rib cooked.
-The main course came out too soon after my salad was served
-When the wine was served, it came opened, but with the cork in it. I was not offered a chance to taste it and had to pour it myself all meal.
-My son ordered a double order of sweet potato fries. One order was seasoned, and the other was not. When mentioned to the server, he just shrugged his shoulders and did not offer restitution.
-It took too long to get the check.
-The wine was not emptied. The server did not offer to seal it for us to take with us. That is the local custom (law?). So I just sneaked the partially full bottle out of the place. read more
