After also falling victim to Popeye's successful national chicken sandwich marketing that resulted in people to stand in long lines, I also heard some stories of other places that offer chicken sandwiches without the wait, including Jollibee. A fried of mine posted a pic of Jollibee's chicken sandwich that looked very good and priced at $4.49, less than Popeye's $6. On a day off that had me running personal errands and the obligatory dim sum get together with the fam, I found myself somewhat hangry and it was after 2pm. As this Jollibee is closest to my home, I made my way down to Kingsgate Plaza. Jollibee is a fast food chain from the Philippines that has over 800 stores worldwide and several locations on Oahu. It makes sense to have a restaurant that has a large Filipino community and Kalihi is an ideal spot. I first had a taste of Jollibee when they first came to Hawaii in 2010. It is located in Waipahu, which also has a large Filipino community. At that time I wasn't willing to drive to West Oahu but a colleague had brought a whole bunch of fried chicken to the office and shared with me. I found Jollibee'a chicken yo be good, but not worth the drive to Waipahu. There's also a Jollibee at Ala Moana Center food court and this Kalihi restaurant is its 3rd location on the island. Words couldn't describe my disappointment when I was advised the chicken sandwich wasn't available. I guess Jollibee capitalized on Popeye's campaign. So after studying the menu, I opted for the 2pc ChickenJoy in spicy with mashed potatoes as my side. The verdict - the 2pc meal comes with a drumstick and thigh. The chicken was cooked perfectly. A nice crunchy exterior with no oily aftertaste. Chicken was very juicy and piping hot. And you could definitely taste that spicy kick and it wasn't overpowering. The mashed potato with brown gravy was also very good but the texture .was too smooth to my liking. While eating my meal and writing the draft of this review, I saw MANY MANY cars entering the drive thru and saw quite a bit of families walk out with buckets and buckets of chicken meals. This place is doing some serious business. Restaurant interior is super clean and I witnessed some staff wipe down the tables after dine-in patrons left. There was a hiccup with my order as when asked if I wanted fountain soda or pineapple juice, I asked if there was a surcharge for pineapple juice and I was told "No.". But when I was rung up, the quoted price was higher than advertised so I asked again. The miscommunication was corrected and the staff adjusted my bill. Overall, a somewhat disappointing experience that turned positive because the chicken meal satisfied my hunger and didn't make a dent in my wallet. read more

Continuing on the quest for halohalo brought me and office mates with a similar craving to Jollibee, a Filipino fast food restaurant chain with an Anerican-influenced menu. This location is in a Kalihi strip mall where King, Liliha, and Dillingham streets meet. Look for the mascot, a smiling bee in red (to match restaurant logo) who is wearing what looks like a toque (I'm just guessing, lol). Thinking it would be too decadent to order solely halohalo, we ordered lunch (somewhat reluctantly). Ordering the "chickenjoy" is somewhat obligatory, so I got the C-1: 2 pieces of chicken, a side, and drink. I got the adobo rice for the side. The verdict: can you say Yummy to the Chickenjoy. It was a perfect combination of crunchy, moist, and not greasy. I uncharacteristically indulged in the crispy chicken skin (after observing and hearing my lunchmates munching and crunching away on it) and dipped it in the side of gravy. Had to stop myself from devouring the entire meal so I could leave sufficient space for the halohalo. On to the true reason for the visit: time to enter (drumroll please) halohalo heaven. It's topped with 2 mini scoops of ice cream with a piece of flan. As the yeehaw lady would say, it's so delicious, it makes you want to go YeeHaw! In conclusion, go enjoy ChickenJoy and head for Halohalo Heaven. You won't be disappointed! read more

Service here is horrible but I expected that for the food court. I came here ordered the chicken sandwich to try and compare to the popeyes chicken sandwich craze. I ordered the chicken sandwich deluxe and my friend behind me ordered the regular one. Deluxe just has lettuce and tomato for 50 cents extra. They give you a buzzer but mine buzzed and they told me they made an error not ready. Gave it back to me and it buzzed again..... then the guy messed up the order and I doubled confirmed if he gave me the correct one. He gave my friend mine and mine to my friend. If it wasn't cause we knew it other would have been wrong order. Overall I like the sandwich better than popeyes but i refuse to ever come to this location! read more

Restaurant is clean and the staff seemed really cool and professional... The menu has chicken ..burgers...chicken sandwiches.. spaghetti and other stuff. I got the 3 boneless all white meat pieces with drink and fries for around $11.00 and change... chicken was seasoned and cooked perfectly..( very similar to Raising Caines) fries was ok... Here is the issue (pic) sauce that came with the chicken or I should say lack of sauce.. The picture says it all... The sauce is part of the meal and it was serious lacking therefore the entire meal was lacking. The amount of sauce was insulting and ludacris!! I could not even dip the chicken to get a decent amount onto the chicken. If you opened a Mcdonalds sauce packet and took out 1/2 you still would have more than what you would recieve from Jollibee. It's like it could have been real real good but because of their "chinzee-ness) mehhh pass!!! read more

JOLLIBEE JOLLIBEE JOLLIBEE. Location - Corner of N.KING street & Dillingham in thee Kings Gate plaza. Parking - Parking is okay here but when it's busy it can be a little challenging (free parking tho so always a plus) there parking is shared with other business like 7-eleven and Red Ribbon bakery to name a few. Drive thru - this drive thru here at this location specially during dinner time gets pretty LIT (aka long busy) so plan accordingly if you don't want to get caught up in this long line at the drive thru. Food - Jollibee fried chicken & Palabok a go to every time we go to Jollibee and sometimes their hamburger steak (ohh-wee) 6pcs fried chicken for $12.99 and family pack Palabok $16.99. Their dinning area seats about 20+ people and I believe they have restrooms in the Resturant. read more

My selections: 1 Pc Chickenjoy with Palabok Fiesta Peach Mango Pie The chicken is so tender with a delicious seasoning to create a very tasty chicken served with gravy on the side. The palabok is delicious noodles with shrimp, hard-boiled egg, and pork. It's covered in a delicious sauce with lemon juice to pour over your noodles. The chicken / palabok combination is a winner! The peach mango pie for dessert is a must. The mango and peach are inside a crispy pocket pie that is so delicious to top off your meal. The staff is friendly and management is committed to serving quality food. I highly recommend visiting this Jolliebee. read more

I went to Jollibee for the first time a few weeks ago and the chicken was ah-mazing! I try to stay away from fast food, but couldn't deny my craving today. I ordered the 2piece chickenjoy + thigh, with 2 spicy thighs instead of the regular thigh + drumstick combo. Unfortunately, what I received was the regular, not spicy chicken. I went back and they were able to give me the right chicken after a short wait. The chicken here today was not as juicy as last time, more breaded part than chicken too. Hopefully next time it's better! read more

Went to pick up dinner. Ordered a family pack with sides and a spicy chicken sandwich. There was no line in the drive through, pulled up to the window and paid. The employee handed me my bag and pulled the sliding window closed part way, so I left. Got home to find half my order is missing. I called them and spoke to Vivian, who was arguing with the employee while I was on the phone. Then she asked if I had time to come back, unfortunately I live in kaneohe. I'm beginning to dislike this location, as they seem to lack communication skills necessary to operate when it's slow. Now I understand how they didn't have chicken, the last time. Go to a different location, avoid the drama. read more

Just took our Passport pictures for our Philippines trip this December so decided to stick to the theme and eat some Jollibee. I ordered a chicken kids meal with fries for my daughter and a spicy chicken meal with adobo fried rice for myself. The chicken was pretty tasty. But I thought the spicy option was gonna be really different but it was just some spicy seasoning on the chicken which definitely made me sweat. My daughter and I ordered a Pineapple Juice drink and it was delish! I think next time I'll try their noodle dish but I think the next time I go to Jollibee it will be in the Philippines. We went after 1pm and it was still pretty busy. And there was a consist line in the drive thru. read more

If I could give this restaurant a negative 5 star rating, I'd give them a negative 10. The crew who were working between the hours of 7pm-8pm all needs to be re-trained or something because this was probably the most trash-est of all trash service experiences that I've ever experienced in my life and I've had some really bad ones. First off, the drive thru was ridiculously long to the point that it was blocking the driveway entrances for those who wanna park for another establishment. My family and I go to dine in and the manager and her 12+ workers can't even run this restaurant. I've seen at least 4 workers in the back around the food with no face masks. One worker with gloves on scratched the top of her a$$ and kept serving. Another worker literally in front of everyone, drops an empty chicken bucket upside down on the floor and picks it back up and shakes it off and puts chicken in it because they're racing to complete their backed up orders. Chicken, fries, and pies are all backed up because no one decided to cook a large amount these common bought items during this busy rush. Only one cashier and a bunch of people standing around talking and laughing. A bunch of customers standing by for at least 20-30 mins. What was more irritating was when the food finally came out, the staff from the dining and drive thru were racing to steal the chicken to complete their orders rather than finish up whoever's order were first. I've seen customers before me finally get their order and a few of them were missing something and while they're still standing there, not one worker goes to check on them. Anyways, I ordered a 6pc chicken, spaghetti, and pies combo along with 2 burger meals. Manager and staff having me wait 12 minutes for backed up chicken and when it finally comes out, there's no pie so I gotta wait 7 more minutes only to find out they ran outta fries so I gotta wait another 5 minutes. On top of that, I get my Sprite fountain drink only for it to run out and got nothing, but carbonated water instead lol. I tell the manager that the Sprite is out and she says ok and no one comes to change it and I was there for a total of an hour. When I finally got my original order, they forgot my plates, cups, and fries. This place may look somewhat clean, but the service specifically, is super duper TRASH, at least for tonights service. If I had known it was gonna be this bad, I would've went to the 7-Eleven located across from them or just starve to death. Hooooooooly smokes! Staff are friendly, but service is super slow. Parking lot is small and shared by other establishments, but blocked off by the drive thru customers who are waiting on their orders. This crappy place is located at the corner of Dillingham Blvd. and King St. next to Jiffy Lube. read more

Jollibee - Customers waiting for their food and we been here for at least 20mins. Trash! - Fast Food Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

We came here for the National Chicken Day deal ($20 for the mainland but $25 for Hawaii, smh) which consisted of 6pc Chickenjoy bucket with gravy, 3 pc chicken tenders, and 2 chicken sandwiches. We waited around 25 minutes for our food and saw that everyone who ordered after us was getting their orders before us. We didn't have anywhere to be so we didn't mind waiting. We got home to find that instead of 2 chicken sandwiches, they gave us 4 - score! I'm not a huge fan of fried chicken so I didn't touch the bucket, but the chicken tenders were good - nice meat on the inside and crisp on the outside with not toooo much batter. The chicken sandwich was good overall but lacked flavor since it was just the chicken and bread, no pickles. The chicken was super thick and juicy. read more

This Jollibee is a little staple for quick and easy food. One of the franchises that I do support, this is the place to go for Peach Mango Pies. This is review rating for their fried chicken and nothing else, it's one of my favorite fried chicken. The fried chicken is on the expensive side, a bucket of 6 (3 drumsticks, 3 thighs) will cost $12.99 and well worth it. The chicken is very moist, the skin is crispy and is very likely brined and/marinaded at least overnight because the meat is very well seasoned. The secret is that a spicy version is available, but you must ask for it. It's really spicy so not for the faint of heart. This location is very hard to get to from Dillingham if you are heading north, making a left into the driveway is almost impossible with the heavy traffic. It's best to make a right from King st or head south and make a right into Dillingham. Getting out is the same, making a left on to Dillingham is not allowed during rush hour. Another word of advice, getting a parking space could be a challenge. The drive thru is a better option. read more

I doordashed an order that came out to be $60 with delivery and tip. I got my order and come to find it was not how i ordered it. I requested for all spicy, but got all regular. I know that spicy is on jollibee's reciepts when ordered. Cause Ive eaten there before. I called the store and spoke to the evening manager. She said "they don't make mistakes" and also stated that "I was wrong". Not calling to debate error that they made, so just hung up when manager made that statement. Doordashes order system provides a reciept of order. Here is a picture of that and of Jollibees. DD's states "all spicy" on its reciept for the order. Orders are passed to restaurant, as shown. So who made the mistake? Me or Jb. Never again...they dont care about their customers..sad when business is so tight during these hard times. read more

The palabok I ordered was very dry I had to ask the manager for additional sauce, thanks to her, but another thing it doesnt taste very good, i did not taste the stir fried minced garlic & there's no crushed chicharon, totally different from the Philippine's Jollibee palabok, the spicy chicken was also not at par, the gravy was not good too. So I went here a couple days ago because the Filipino in me was craving spaghetti and chicken. I swear the spaghetti just hits the spot. But come to find out after waiting for 20 minutes, they were accepting cash only! So then I wasn't able to order anything since I don't carry cash. They could have done better to advertise that they were only accepting cash like picket signs before even entering the drive thru NOT just on the menu. So all in all, a total of 30 minutes wasted and I hope the next time I stop by, they have a sign that's before getting in the drive thru. read more

I've been on a peach pie quest lately so when I found out that Jollibee sells peach mango pie, I hightailed it there the first chance I got. My daughter and I were in Kalihi so we ended up at this location. It took us a while to find the place because I didn't realize it was located on the corner and we kept passing it. After several attempts, we pulled up at the drive thru and ordered 1 mango peach pie with the intention of ordering more if we liked it. After receiving our pie, we pulled into an available parking spot in the plaza and proceeded to analyze what we thought of said pie. The filling was good, but made from canned ingredients. At least it didn't taste mushy like it was made from canned fruit cocktail. The crust was crispy and seemed like it was deep fried. I was hoping the crust would be more buttery and flaky as opposed to crunchy. It's not exactly the taste I was looking for, but it's not bad. Based on the price, taste and size, I would probably order this again. We just didn't re-order it again on that trip. read more

I don't usually eat a lot of fried chicken for health reasons, but we picked up a bucket to go to a house party. I was pleasantly surprised that the chicken is not oily, crispy for long after you pick it up, and savory to taste! One of my new favorites! I tried to order from the app, but it wouldn't go through and we finally walked in. Wait time for a bucket of chicken, made fresh is about 15 minutes. In the meantime, I ordered a peach mango turnover pie - woooooahhhh!! Broke da mouth! My chicken was ready but I added in another 6 (for $15) peach mango turnovers. Yum. read more

Not much to say other than the presentation of the food is better than when they first opened. The facility drive thru is easy to get through provided you know how to get into the strip mall. On that note, here is my suggestion: 1) Liliha Street west to Dillingham Blvd. Cross the major Dillingham/King intersection and turn into the FIRST right hand driveway into strip mall. 2) King Street East and turn right into strip mall. Last driveway before major Dillingham/King intersection If you choose to park and enter and order inside the facility be aware no matter now SMALL your order is, you will still be given a buzzer, you will have to wait on the side until your buzzer notifies you. (side bar: I ordered only a bottled water which was sitting in the refrigerator in plain site and ease to grab but I was still given a buzzer) Now about the food; the spaghetti is on the sweet side; the burgers are okay, and the chicken is good. The noodles were very good; first time in fact for me to try and I will say, it was good. So- follow my driving instructions and you will be fine. Order the chicken and the noodles. Go through the drive through so you won't have to deal with that silly buzzer! I got my free birthday pie but it was a struggle. I went into the restaurant and let them know I was going to redeem it in the app, but asked if she wanted to do it on the screen instead. The cashier then said she can try, and asked if she could show her boss my phone and see if she can do it herself. After waiting a while, she came back and said I just need to do it on the app. I would've just done it on the app in the first place if I'd have known and saved us all some time, but I guess it was a learning experience. Honestly, this location should just get rid of the drive thru. I mean whats the point of ordering at the drive thru if they're just going to have every single car park and wait for their order? Once, twice, fine ill park. But for this situation to keep happening for every visit? Its ridiculous! & not very friendly either! This is a continuous problem and i know im not the only one. So whats being done to expedite speed of service? Without having to have cars search for parking in a very compact and limted parking lot? And wait half an hour for my order?
