Ordered here first time, saw a kid next to our table at the food court eating Vons snow cheese so we decided to try. It's sweet cheese powder. Very fine powder. I am not used to eating sweet seasoning. It was interesting but probably will not order that again. Chicken was tender, but like some reviewers have mentioned, the flesh inside the skin was pink. We went to the counter too and were pointed to a flyer on the side wall of the counter. Apparently it is safe to eat even though it's pink. It didn't taste raw, there was no blood, so we ate it
Ah. Great spot for Korean chicken. We will be back! They have a lot to choose from on the menu, not just kfc,and conveniently located downtown

Loved everything we ordered. Hot- fresh- properly packaged so it didn't get soggy on the way home. I recently had snow chicken and I'm obsessed! The flavor is so out of the world and hard to place. The Korean corn dog was super chewy yummy breading- sweeter than I expected but the added side sauce of mustard was a solid choice. We will definitely be back for the more. The aunties were so nice working and the ambiance was clean and speedy. You can tell they are busy with college kids a lot of times!
I was pleasantly surprised to see Von's in this Palama Supermarket and that there were different offered items on the menu. In the beginning, Vons only offered drumsticks and in big quantities. Much more than I could eat in a week, so I stayed away. Not anymore, not with this new menu. I ordered the boneless chicken plate with a side of french fries. I was told it would be about 15 minutes. Not a big deal because we had also ordered food from Palama Snack Corner. My order came out piping hot. The lady said not to tie up the bag and let the steam escape so the chicken does not get mushy. The french fries were also extra nice. The container did not sit next to the chicken plate in the boot of my car. Instead, my mom opted to "hold" it up front. Yeah, right! Lightly coated before frying and seasoned after, made these fries so special and yummy, not to mention they were hot and fresh. Did I already say that? Crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. The seasoning was....I don't have words to describe it, but it was great. I suppose it was just seasoned salt or something similar. Whatever it was, it was good enough for mom to polish of half the container on our way home, stating that they were so good, with each bite. The chicken was still fabulous, even after 15 minutes of travel time. Still hot and still crispy on the outside and juicy juicy on the inside. No disappointment whatsoever. I will definitely be back to try the wings and of course, get another order of fries!
Great fried chicken! Great location - great service ! I just love fried chicken and Von's fried chicken is soooooo good! Made to order and served hot right out of the frier!

Watching K-dramas, I'd always see them eating crispy fried chicken and wondered why LOL. Yup, it's the bomb. Fresh, straight out of the fryer! Crispy, crunchy! It's not like the ready made ones from fast food chicken places. It's made fresh to order so allow yourself time (at least 15 minutes) for wait. If you like spicy, order the Spicy Crispy Fried BBQ for a little "kick". The wait is well worth it! If you are ordering take out, best to call ahead. They do have a seating area in the food court and tables are socially distanced. Ample parking in the Palama Market parking lot too.
Awesome KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) Wings at Vons Chicken! Too bad the service was terrible. I don't know why I've waited so long to try Vons Chicken. It's always on my mind, and when I'm going to a get together with friends, my first thought would be to order something from here, but never materialized. Vons Chicken has suddenly expanded all over town. This particular Vons is one of the originals located inside Palama Supermarket near Don Quijote along Makaloa St. When I first approached the counter for Vons, and stood at a distance to view the menu, I didn't see anyone. For a second, I thought it was closed. But after taking a couple of steps closer, I noticed a lady on her phone, hunched down behind the cash register. Even when I reached the counter, I had to say "Hello" to even get her attention. I also noticed a couple of workers in the back head down on their smartphones too! I ordered the 10-piece Crispy Garlic for $15.99. All the flavored wings are the same price. 20-piece for $28.45, and one dollar less for plain wings. This Vons also offers Roast Oven Wings (plain and BBQ flavor). The lady said it will take 15 minutes, so I just shopped around in Palama. I wasn't sure how long I took since I didn't check the time after I ordered, but when I came back, I did see several paper bags, so I thought I'd ask if my order was ready. And wouldn't you know, everyone was sitting down and on their smartphones. Are you serious? Is anyone working? Is my order even being prepared? The lady looked at me, then turned her head to look at the timer in the back and told me it'd be 7 more minutes. I must've shopped too quickly. Even when my order was finally ready, I didn't get a thank you or goodbye. I said "thank you!" I probably didn't need to. Seriously though, it's unbelievable that everyone there is just glued to their smartphones, and needs to have customers call them to be acknowledged. It's hard to deal with the indifferent attitude. Why are you here if you're not even here? Be that as it may, the Crispy Garlic KFC wings were very good. The garlic seasoning was more on the sweet side than the garlicky side, but it still had nice flavors. The chicken was soft and tender and the meat was tasty too. The wings were fried very well. Some parts were crispy, and some parts were softened from the sauce and ride home. Overall, the quality and taste of the chicken trumps nonexistent service. Better than rude or dimwitted service I suppose. Also got two more pieces! I wonder if the two extra wings was a form of an apology for making me wait so long. I accept! I'd definitely want to try the other flavors. Perhaps at another location though.

Great saucy flavor, my bf recommends 10/10. I got the garlic chicken and it was good! Got 20 wings total that was good for 3 of us. Order through Uber eats and the restaurant completed the order very quickly.

I was unsure on what to order so settled on the plain crispy fried chicken. Your food is cooked to order so it took around 15 minutes. There were seven wings and three drumsticks. The chicken was piping hot, the skin crisp and inside tender and juicy. As far as taste, it was lightly seasoned. Next time I'll try the shoyu or honey butter flavors.
We were in the mood for chicken and waffles. So here's part one, ordering the chicken first because that takes about ten minutes to cook. While everything on the menu looked tasty, we settled on the garlic wings. Whatever is left over from a full basket, we can warm up later in the air fryer :) It is true, the garlic wings are pretty tasty. Waited almost 20 minutes for my plate and chicken was not cooked through. I took it back to the counter and asked her to cook it a bit longer, and I was pointed to a sign that said something about "pinking in poultry" and assured that it was fine to eat, but based on the look of the chicken I was not comfortable eating it at all. I uploaded this picture into chat gpt with the business explanation of the pinking in poultry and according to AI, "Pinking" can happen in cooked poultry -- but what you're showing in the photo does not look like harmless pinking. Here's the difference in plain language: Harmless "pinking" (still fully cooked) * Happens from smoking, high heat, or certain proteins. * The meat is fully opaque, firm, and cooked through. * Only the outer edge or near the bone looks pinkish. What your picture shows * The meat looks translucent, soft, and raw, especially near the joint. * There are dark, bloodlike areas around the bone. * The texture looks undercooked, not just color-changed from chemical reactions. Even with pinking, cooked chicken never looks glossy or raw in the center the way yours does. I decided not to go back to the counter because there was a language barrier and I felt the woman wasn't listening to me in the first place anyway. I never knew there was a Von's Chicken in Palama Market! The only time I've seen Von's was on Pensacola Street, but I was always hesitant to go there because of the parking. So happy I found out they have this location close to home and I read this is the original Von's Chicken location! The parking lot is small, but decent size. I'm unsure if there's second level parking since it seems like there could be. I came here on a Sunday around 1:30 pm so it was pretty busy but not hectic. Luckily I read a review saying they make it fresh so you wait about 15 minutes and you can do some grocery shopping in the mean time which is a really great idea! Who doesn't like shop at a Korean grocery store anyways? The food court area wasn't busy at all. There about 3 parties eating at the tables. They do check your vax cards if you're dining in. There's about 3 or 4 other restaurants here as well. I went right up to the register and ordered a half size original crispy and half size crispy garlic to-go. The cashier told me my order would take 20 minutes and since I was already prepared to wait, I did some grocery shopping. Came back a little longer than 20 minutes so I went to grab it, the cashier placed my order in a plastic bag but poked holes in it with a fork so that it doesn't get soggy which I really liked! She also didn't close the container all the way so that the hot air could escape. When I got home, the chicken was so warm and EXTRAAAAA crispy. It was so good! I really liked the original. It was perfect the way it was. The crispy garlic was really good too, but I realized what I really wanted was actually the crispy shoyu, but somehow ended up ordering the crispy garlic instead. (Should've read the reviews better LOL). The crispy garlic is like the original with a little bit garlic, but when I took a bite, the flavor was all there! I would definitely come back here again and order takeout. Hands down the best Korean fried chicken I've ever had. I'm addicted! Next time I'm definitely ordering the Crispy Shoyu! read more
Give them 10 minutes to fresh fry your wings. Its inside, on the right of the Palama Supermarket. Incidentally, Palama Supermarket is not located in Palama anymore! I digress. Got the honey-butter wings. Of course its the tried and true Vons wings, but its sprinkled with a butter powder with some green herbs. Not a huge fan of wings, but this flavor, I like. Could not stop at one. More of a take-out place, but there are tables available. read more

We landed pretty late in Honolulu and this was literally the only place open lol. It was super busy when we arrived but we were so hungry after our flight. We ordered chicken wings and bibimbap. The food was average but it came out quickly and we were so thankful to just have something to eat, so we really enjoyed it overall. read more

My boyfriend and I love Korean fried chicken wings and whenever we're craving it we automatically think of Vons. We recently went this past weekend and called in our order before heading there. My favorite is their crispy fried shoyu wings while my boyfriend really likes the honey butter wings and he gotta have extra honey butter seasoning on top. We definitely recommend ordering extra sauce or seasoning if you like it extra like us. Besides the fried wings, they also have oven baked options which I have yet to try. Wing lovers have to check out this place. Didn't expect much when ordered some wings, regular & b-b-q sauced, from this small stand. But what a pleasant surprise. DELICIOUS! They fried those big and fat wings following each order and served immediately out of the fryer. The best part is that towner is friendly and customer oriented. Now, this place will by on top of my go to wing place. Dropped one star on a return visit. It appeared that this place may have a less friendlier owner behind the counter now. Located in Palama Supermarket. There is small parking that is shared by other businesses in complex. They are in the right side of store and in middle of 2 other Korean businesses. Per Yelp reviewers and friend Paul, I ordered 10 shoyu wings. Korean lady said order will be ready in 10 to 12 minutes. They have 2 male employees to prepare chicken wings and drumettes. My order had 11 pieces of wings but at least it wasn't short. Chicken wings are bigger size than regular wings. They are little crispy with shoyu flavor. I thought they were supposed have crispy batter like Popeyes. read more

I've tried Vons at all their different locations and it's just as good here. I might actually like this one better. Some of the other Vons don't offer the garlic option. I would like to come back and try the garlic the next time. We went with what we always order, the crispy fried shoyu chicken. It's $13.88 for a half order and $25.38 for a full order. The half order consists of 10 wings and the full order consists of 20 wings. There wings are so good. They make it when it's ordered so it takes around 10-15 minutes for the chicken to be ready. The outside of the chicken is crispy and has a nice flavoring to it. The inside is juicy and tender. Koreans aren't known for fried chicken. However, between Vons and Itchy Butt, the Koreans have the fried chicken game on lock. I hate to say it, but Korean fried chicken is so much better than American fried chicken. Koreans do fried chicken right. This location is at the Palama Supermarket on Makaloa St. read more

This rating is only for the wings as we had them delivered due to COVID-19. For Korean wings we were expecting much more and unfortunately like other reviews the skin was very chewy. The flavors were there but the skin just ruined it for us. I even tried to crisp them up in the toaster oven and no luck. We ordered the garlic and BBQ. The BBQ did have a little kick. read more

Came here again on a Monday about 1130am and it wasn't busy. Fast and easy order and I noticed they have a few new flavors I haven't seen since I last came. Crispy garlic, crispy snow cheese? And crispy honey butter. I tried the crispy garlic and got half order. I did notice they raised the prices a bit. It was still a bit crispy and had a wet garlic sauce which was I think grated garlic as i saw some on the bottom of container. Personally I don't think I tasted the normal. Or traditional garlic flavor I was expecting. It was mild and actually tasted more of just like a shoyu sauce that was a bit sweet. It was still pretty good. Nothing crazy good. Im still willing to try some other flavors and see if I really like one but so far the original crispy fried is the best to me. read more

Ok, I'm a native Korean, raised in the states with large Korean population. I love, love, love Korean fried chicken and was super excited to try Vons (as I am a recent mover to the island). First of all, these are "wings", not whole chicken. When you say Korean fried chicken, it naturally means fried "whole" chicken (that's cut into pieces). Even for Americans, if you wanted chicken wings, it makes more sense to order them by counts. Second, skin's too soggy, and the meat was not juicy.. PERIOD! Third, pickled radish is not included. -- Until now, I'm still unsure if the employee forgot to put it in or if it really doesn't come with your order -- For Koreans, this is a must that comes with your order. (It's like that garlic dipping sauce which must come with your Papa John's pizza, if you know what I mean.) At least let the customer know if it's not included!! Fourth, poor service. The young man that took my order had a bad attitude. I noticed his accent, so I tried to place my order in Korean but he replied in English so I thought I mistook him for Korean. Later, I heard him speak in Korean to an elder customer. ? I had a question about my charge so I approached him again. He replied with an attitude. Me: "I'm just asking you a question to make sure" Him: "you asked a question so I'm just answering your question" (Not to mention that his answer didn't make much sense.) When we talk about Korean Chicken, all I can think of is.. VONS CHICKEN. I first tried it on Pensacola(and we kept on coming back) but it took us 1 year to know that they also have a branch at Palama Supermarket (that is just walking distance from our place) and now at Shirokiya. Anyways.. Vons Chicken is located inside Palama Supermarket, in their "food court" area. I don't care how their stall looks like because I just love their Korean Fried Chicken. You just need to be a little patient because average wait time for orders are 10-15 minutes. We always get their half order Shoyu and/or Garlic Chicken Wings - It's crispy, juicy, tender and very flavorful. You wont even need condiments to eat this. It's finger lickin' good. Yummy! Half order is like 8-10pcs and just enough for my husband and I. By the way, they don't sell plate lunch like Pensacola branch but we dont mind. :) Overall, this is the best Korean Chicken for me so far.
