Buns were genuinely good quality too, which honestly never happens lol. Every other Korean fried chicken spot I've been to leaves me feeling oily and kinda guilty after. Stumbled upon this vendor in Midtown Eats food hall yesterday. I'm always up for Korean chicken, any Korean food really. There wasn't anyone manning the registers but had a sign posted that said to scan a QR code to order, so I can't really speak for the customer service. Once I placed my order it was a 20 minute wait for my food. I ordered a chicken sandwich with honey garlic sauce and a side of fries. Everything is made fresh to order. The chicken sandwich was full of flavor, crispy & juicy. The fries were nice & crispy. Would go back to try their other menu items and something on the spicy side next time. read more

My very first experience with Soul Chicken was at their little shop across the street from Honolulu Community College on Dillingham Blvd., their humble beginnings was a little stand, with a few outdoor tables/seating. Not much of a dine-in joint, it was mainly made for take out. Now-a-dayz it's kinda hard to get to Soul Chicken due to the on-going rail construction project in the area, so I'm HAPPY to report to you folks that Soul Chicken has opened another outlet location at the - Midtown Eats food court! Access to Soul Chicken is pretty easy, as there are tons of metered street parking, or if you like, there is parking within the building, and I heard they validate for parking (I used street parking the day I came here). It's your basic food court set up - walk up to the counter & order your food, pay, & when your food is ready they will call you. You pick up your food, then look for an open table within the food court. I was getting some grub from a Mexican joint at the food court, but how can you not pass up on some Korean Frrrrrrried Chicken??? Shoots den'! I split a 6 piece Korean Frrrrrrried Chicken with my friend & ate mostly da drums. Lol! Like anything, it's your standard Korean Frrrrrrried Chicken joint. This fabulous restaurant now has a more convenient spot at Midtown Food Hall? Sign me up. For those who aren't familiar with the original location, this is a great Korean Fried Chicken spot. We get their boneless fried chicken and honey garlic chicken. Their boneless chicken is NOT dry at all. I think it's because they literally debone the wings by hand, so you get the moistness of traditional wings without the bones. I know that sounds silly, but let's be honest. Most boneless chicken is dry. This place has perfected the boneless wings. I've tried it several times at both locations and it hasn't been dry. The new location is in the food hall on Keeaumoku. When you walk into the food hall, it's towards the back. Lots of parking. And you can order online in advance. Owner is such a wonderful, hardworking man. Lunch in Honolulu, Hawaii... The original location of Soul Chicken is on Dillingham Boulevard where there's traffic and construction due to "The Rail" project. This second location of Soul Chicken is much better because it's one of the vendors at Midtown Eats, on the Ground Level of The Park on Keeaumoku. Currently, parking in the structure is free. Just enter on Liona Street. Later, parking will be validated for 2 hours. We appreciate the air-conditioning, shared seating areas (indoors and outdoors), secured restrooms (women's door code is 6688*), ramps for wheelchairs and strollers, and clean, well-lit environment. I ordered at the kiosk which was efficient. Payment by credit card reduces the time to make change. My combo meal came in a takeout box. The six boneless pieces of shoyu flavored Korean fried chicken turned out to be eight pieces! Thank you! The side I chose was 4 pieces of gimmari - fried, lightly battered nori wrapped around glass noodles. Yum! It took a while to prepare and the chicken wasn't as temperature hot as the gimmari. It was amusing that there's an upcharge for the flavoring of the chicken. Well... it's better than the Dillingham location... LOL! I'm glad I tried it again! read more

Stopped by Soul Chicken to try the chicken wings for the first time. I'm glad I did! I ordered the three piece fried chicken wings with Yang Nyeom (Mild Spicy) sauce. $8.95 for the 3 piece wings and an additional $1.00 for the sauce! Each part of the chicken wing was @$3.50! The chicken "wing" is only one part of the wing lol. See photo. It is pricey for what you get. Having said that, the taste and crisp of the wings are delicious. A six piece "wing" set will cost you $12.95 plus $1.00 per sauce. Service was slow and this location had only one cook and one cashier. Many orders were coming in and it appeared they were overwhelmed. The ambiance was noisy, crowded at lunch time and a food court vibe. Credit cards only. Business hours- see photo. If this is Korean fried chicken, I'm a 6'3", 224lb senile white dude, "bing bing bong bong", talking nonsense about stupid windmills, "quiet piggy", doing a toddler tantrum dance. KFC is insanely crispy from a double fried starch coating. This is not. KFC is juicy and tender from brining. This is not. KFC's signature yangnyeom sauce is sweet, sticky, soy, garlic, ginger and gochujang. This is not. Basic fried chicken tenders. Not crispy but well breaded. Not insanely juicy but still moist. The yangnyeom kinda taste like a watery sweet soy sauce with garlic. OK but not what it's supposed to be and might not even measure up to its fast food counter parts. read more

This place is go good, but pricey for their chicken wings. The first time I tried this place was in downtown on Dillingham. I'm happy that they're closer to home now at Midtown Eats. We had the Chi-Bob (chicken bowl) $13.95. We asked for it with honey sauce + $1. The chicken bowl was delicious. It was bits of fried chicken on white rice with honey sauce, mayo and takuan. I've eaten here a couple of times and I think their fried chicken tastes pretty good and every order has been very crispy (despite what other reviews may have said) but I think it's silly that they charge an extra dollar to add any flavor to their chicken. There are only about 4 flavors to choose from plus higher spice levels. My most recent time here I got the chicken sandwich with fries combo and although the honey garlic flavor was yummy, it was hard to justify this meal costing $20 - the size of the sandwich is not that big.. maybe they should include a beverage with the combo to make it worth it. Anyways, the fried chicken is good but I think there are other KFC places in Honolulu that have a better bang for your buck with more variety of notable flavors. The entire environment was family friendly, lots of other vendors, and if you want to watch a game, they have a seating, and a mini bar. I ordered the shoyu chicken w/fries. The lady who attended my family and I, was super friendly, and the waiting time was minimal! The chicken was super tender, flavorful, and the fries were crunchy! Maybe, they could've topped the fries off with a little salt, but overall, it was AMAZING! I would DEFINITLY come again. (They have parking inside the building.
