Lunch in Honolulu, Hawaii... The original location of Soul Chicken is on Dillingham Boulevard where there's traffic and construction due to "The Rail" project. This second location of Soul Chicken is much better because it's one of the vendors at Midtown Eats, on the Ground Level of The Park on Keeaumoku. Currently, parking in the structure is free. Just enter on Liona Street. Later, parking will be validated for 2 hours. We appreciate the air-conditioning, shared seating areas (indoors and outdoors), secured restrooms (women's door code is 6688*), ramps for wheelchairs and strollers, and clean, well-lit environment. I ordered at the kiosk which was efficient. Payment by credit card reduces the time to make change. My combo meal came in a takeout box. The six boneless pieces of shoyu flavored Korean fried chicken turned out to be eight pieces! Thank you! The side I chose was 4 pieces of gimmari - fried, lightly battered nori wrapped around glass noodles. Yum! It took a while to prepare and the chicken wasn't as temperature hot as the gimmari. It was amusing that there's an upcharge for the flavoring of the chicken. Well... it's better than the Dillingham location... LOL! I'm glad I tried it again!

If this is Korean fried chicken, I'm a 6'3", 224lb senile white dude, "bing bing bong bong", talking nonsense about stupid windmills, "quiet piggy", doing a toddler tantrum dance. KFC is insanely crispy from a double fried starch coating. This is not. KFC is juicy and tender from brining. This is not. KFC's signature yangnyeom sauce is sweet, sticky, soy, garlic, ginger and gochujang. This is not. Basic fried chicken tenders. Not crispy but well breaded. Not insanely juicy but still moist. The yangnyeom kinda taste like a watery sweet soy sauce with garlic. OK but not what it's supposed to be and might not even measure up to its fast food counter parts.

Stopped by Soul Chicken to try the chicken wings for the first time. I'm glad I did! I ordered the three piece fried chicken wings with Yang Nyeom (Mild Spicy) sauce. $8.95 for the 3 piece wings and an additional $1.00 for the sauce! Each part of the chicken wing was @$3.50! The chicken "wing" is only one part of the wing lol. See photo. It is pricey for what you get. Having said that, the taste and crisp of the wings are delicious. A six piece "wing" set will cost you $12.95 plus $1.00 per sauce. Service was slow and this location had only one cook and one cashier. Many orders were coming in and it appeared they were overwhelmed. The ambiance was noisy, crowded at lunch time and a food court vibe. Credit cards only. Business hours- see photo. Side note: if you want to try a full size fried chicken wing, try Lahaina Chicken Company at the Ala Moana Center. It's delicious and very reasonably priced.

This place is go good, but pricey for their chicken wings. The first time I tried this place was in downtown on Dillingham. I'm happy that they're closer to home now at Midtown Eats. We had the Chi-Bob (chicken bowl) $13.95. We asked for it with honey sauce + $1. The chicken bowl was delicious. It was bits of fried chicken on white rice with honey sauce, mayo and takuan. It was a pretty big portion, but should be for that price. I will be back to get some wings!

Soul Chicken, one of my favorite Korean Fried chicken spots. Original location off of Dillingham has now opened up in the new "Midtown Eats" Food Court located in the Park Condominiums. Not only do they have delicious fried chicken, with bone and without... they have some of the best side dishes. My favorite being the gimmari (only place in Honolulu I know where its made to order). Parking available in the Park. With validation, the first two hours free. Food Court on Keeamoku St. Parking lot accessed off of Liona Street.

Honey garlic chicken sandwich + fries = almost $20

I've eaten here a couple of times and I think their fried chicken tastes pretty good and every order has been very crispy (despite what other reviews may have said) but I think it's silly that they charge an extra dollar to add any flavor to their chicken. There are only about 4 flavors to choose from plus higher spice levels. My most recent time here I got the chicken sandwich with fries combo and although the honey garlic flavor was yummy, it was hard to justify this meal costing $20 - the size of the sandwich is not that big.. maybe they should include a beverage with the combo to make it worth it. Anyways, the fried chicken is good but I think there are other KFC places in Honolulu that have a better bang for your buck with more variety of notable flavors. If youre at Midtown Eats and you are craving KFC with a beer to watch a game at the bar, it will definitely satisfy your craving

Located in Midtown Eats. It's a food hall vibe. You order on the kiosk and pick up at the counter. I loved how when we came up to pick up our order they also gave us a sticker! The chicken is crispy and delicious and so were the fries! I wanted to try the chicken plain with the sauces on the side to dip it in. Even the plain chicken is good and the shoyu sauce made it even better! I can't wait to try more flavors!

6 piece plain fried chicken $12.95

Went to locate Midtown eats and the plain fried chicken was excellent. Moist , crispy and freshly made. It took awhile about 15 minutes but they were busy and had at least 4 orders before mine. The man was very nice and the girls were working hard non stop

$10 3pc. Horribly dissatisfied.

Right next to H-Mart is Seoul Cook in Kaka'ako. I was starving after taking two back-to-back…read moreworkout classes nearby and my friend recommended we get food here and I'm so glad we did. First off, all the complimentary banchan (Korean side dishes). From the classic kimchi, fishcake, cucumber kimchi, and radish. And if you're dining in, just ask and you can get refills of whatever you want more of. If you're doing take out, they still give you all of the banchan!v We did dine-in but take out / online orders seemed popular. But I loved dining in because of the Ajumma here! She was so sweet and funny, and even made the perfect bite (radish kimchi on top of the meat jun, so the acid offsets the oily fried jun) and fed it to my boyfriend LOL. We got a ton of food! The seafood soondabu soup, seafood korean pancake, seafood bibimbap, meat jun, and zucchini jun. We had a lot of leftovers that we took home. The food was good but it's really the service and love that makes this a 5-star experience.

The tofu was silky soft and fresh, soaking up all the flavor from the broth. The lunch set is a great value--you get soondubu bubbling hot, rice, and banchan that were all solid and well-seasoned. Portions were filling without being heavy, which makes it an ideal lunch option. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food came out fast even during lunch hours. This is definitely one of those places you crave when you want something warm, satisfying, and comforting. I'll absolutely be back for this again.

The brisket and beef belly (toro) were my favorites, super flavorful and cooked perfectly. It doesn't come with salad, egg, or soup, but you still get a solid KBBQ experience with just meat and banchan. If you're looking for something simple and satisfying, this is a great deal. Also, the restaurant is really spacious, which makes the whole experience feel more relaxed and comfortable. Would definitely come back for a quick KBBQ fix.

Sorry, but this place feels like a tourist trap. They're clearly benefiting from being in a prime…read morelocation with very few Korean BBQ options nearby. The premium AYCE option is around $60 per person, which would be reasonable if the quality matched the price. Unfortunately, it doesn't. We're from the Bay Area and have been to countless Korean BBQ restaurants with significantly better meat quality for the same price or less. To make matters worse, even at the highest-priced AYCE tier, fountain drinks aren't included. What really left a bad impression was the automatic 20% gratuity. Our group consisted of two separate parties of three people each. We were seated together at one large table with two grills, but we had separate bills, ordered different AYCE meats option, didn't share food, and made that CLEAR before ordering. The menu states that automatic gratuity applies to parties of five or more, yet we were still charged because we happened to sit together. Had we known this was their policy, we would have chosen another restaurant or sat at different areas of the restaurant. The reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because our servers were friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. They answered all of our questions about the menu and provided excellent service throughout the meal. Unfortunately, when we brought the gratuity issue to the manager, he insisted we were one large party despite us being separate parties with separate orders and separate checks. At the end of the day, the only difference was that we happened to be sitting at the same table. Overall, the service from the staff was great, but the overpriced food, disappointing meat quality, and questionable gratuity policy make it hard for me to recommend this place.
