I had the spicy 3-piece Chickenjoy (bone-in) combo meal with the Jolly Spaghetti, mashed potatoes, and an all-you-can-drink Diet Coke. The chicken skin had a nice crunch to it and the meat was juicy (not super oily, but juicy.) The mashed potatoes and gravy weren't bad. They were not super fluffy but a little more on the dense side. (Nothing bad, just dense.) The gravy was somewhat runny with just the right amount of saltiness. The spaghetti was surprisingly good! It's been a few years since I've gone to a Jolly Bee and I had imagined the spaghetti to only be sweet and savory. It was actually pretty good! (Not in an Italian way though. It was a little spicy, which I loved! I wasn't expecting it to be spicy so it was a very pleasant surprise! It was a tad sweet...just the right amount! (There isn't a 3-piece combo on the menu, but the server was kind enough to accommodate my request for an extra piece of chicken.) It came with a container of gravy that made me wonder what it was for, immediately. Then I remembered all the commercials and YouTube videos where food reviewers either slathered their chicken with the gravy or they dunked it into the gravy. I was so hungry that I forgot for a few seconds that the gravy was for the chicken, thus I drank most of the gravy!! The dining area is constantly cleaned and draws a diverse crowd. Because it is at the beginning of downtown it does attract some homeless people as well. But, that's life in the big city, right? When I went to the restroom I found it amusing that a male Jollibee employee was changing his shirt. It seemed he was done for the day. Overall, it was a pleasant meal. I arrived around 5:40 PM, but getting into the parking lot took longer than expected because of the very long drive-thru line and limited parking. Once inside, I waited about 5 minutes at the counter before anyone acknowledged me. I was the only customer waiting inside. I even stood near the online pickup area for a while, hoping someone would ask if I needed help, but several employees walked by without acknowledging me. Two cashiers looked in my direction multiple times but continued their conversation instead of checking whether I was waiting for an order. I finally interrupted to let them know I was there for an online pickup and gave them my name. Unfortunately, there seemed to be confusion about my order. One employee pointed to another, who then pointed back to the first employee while continuing to prepare food. No one was able to tell me whether my order was ready. Thankfully, an employee wearing a different colored shirt (a manager I'm assuming) noticed I hadn't been helped. She immediately apologized, asked for my name, checked on my order, and informed the kitchen that more chicken needed to be prepared. Shortly after, another manager also stepped in, apologized, and helped get everything together. I finally left with my order at 6:09 PM, nearly 40 minutes after my scheduled pickup time. The food was fresh, delicious, and the restaurant itself was clean, which is why I'm giving 5 stars for the food and cleanliness. However, this isn't the first time I've had to wait an unusually long time just to be acknowledged for an online pickup. In the past, my food has at least been ready once someone finally helped me. This visit was different because not only was I ignored, but my order also wasn't ready. I understand that restaurants are fast-paced environments and that unexpected staffing shortages can happen if someone calls out sick. However, there appeared to be plenty of staff working during my visit. My concern wasn't the number of employees--it was the lack of communication, urgency, and teamwork. I believe additional customer service and workflow training could help employees become more productive and ensure that customers, especially those picking up online orders, are acknowledged promptly. A simple greeting such as, "We'll be right with you," or "Let me check on your order," would have made a significant difference. We always stop in here at least once when we visit Hawaii (we have some at home, though they are ~20 miles away). Service is okay and the food quality is consistent for what you get/pay for. The surrounding area is a little run down, and if you are from out of town, might feel a little scary, but I've never had any issues while eating there. This past visit, they came out with the chicken nuggets which we tried. They looked like over cooked chicken stones, but inside, they tasted okay. Our order is almost always missing at least one item, the wait times are extremely long for food, and even when the app (if you order on the app) says your food is ready, it's usually not. I've never eaten at Jollibee before so I was excited when my daughter asked if I wanted something from the town location. I've always wanted to try the spaghetti and fried chicken, so that's what I ordered. The spaghetti is definitely different than a typical spaghetti but it had a nice tangy flavor to it. The hotdog added a nice texture and flavor to the spaghetti, but I didn't really taste the cheese. The chicken was perfectly crispy and seasoned well, and it paired perfectly with the gravy. I thought it wasn't as crunchy as Popeyes' chicken sandwiches once was, but I thought the sauce made the chicken sandwich better. The garlic mayo-based sauce for the chicken sandwich was delicious and I read it was called a savory umami sauce? Recently, I wasn't sure if it tasted the same as it once did a few years ago. Jolibee has a Filipino-inspired menu! It's a very popular fast food chain in the Philippines. The Ala Moana location always had a line, so I usually go to the Dillingham /King location in the Kingsgate Plaza, especially because I love drive thru restaurants! The shared parking lot was always so packed that most people go to the drive thru unless they want to dine in. Some may not know there's an underneath parking lot, but it's so dark and sketchy even during the day. One time, I parked near the ramp down to the underground parking and as I was returning to my car, there was a sketchy guy hanging out half way down the stairs to the under ground parking, so I quickly walked down the car ramp instead to avoid any contact with him. Anyhoo, I was bummed when they stopped serving their halo halo (frozen dessert) ! It wasn't the best, because of their chunky ice, but it was so convenient to order it through the drive thru. I do love their peach mango pies and they do have at times their ube pies. I do love pineapples, so I always get the pineapple quencher! Their Chicken Joy Fried Chicken's batter was on the light and crispy side and the chicken was moist! I vaguely remembered trying the Aloha yum burger, but I think I've tried it at the other jolibee location and the pineapple and bacon made the burger not bad. The only issue you may have sometimes is the wait time for the chicken joy fried chicken and or the chicken sandwich! It can be a wait of 20 minutes or less! Perhaps they are so busy but I can't wait that long. So I had to get the spaghetti one time! I tried a little bit and I gave it to my mom. It was on the sweeter side! Recently, when I was paying at the drive thru, I was told to wait on the side for my order! Even if it was for a couple of minutes, I didn't know where to wait! There was no designated spot to wait. The two stalls were taken as you exit the drive thru, so I parked in the side next to the 2nd car but I was in the lane blocking the way to turn right toward the exit on King St. Cars were lined up to go through the drive thru and I didn't want to move because I didn't want them to not find me. Thank goodness some cars exit the other way to the Dillingham blvd exit! So the only issues were the parking and you need to wait for the chicken or chicken for the sandwiches! If parking is not available at street level , they do have under ground ground parking The dine Inn area is clean with well spaced seating. Service was excellent . The young girl that took my order redid it to save me a few cents. I ordered 2 Cheesy Yumburgers, order of fries and a Pineapple Quechure. She rang it up as one combo meal and 1 Cheesy Yumburger. Charging me only 70 cents for Quenchure which sells for $4.99. The burger was good and Cheesy. But for $7.49 I've had better. The fries were passable. The Pineapple Quechure was refreshing. Confession time, we were introduced to Jollibee's at a kids birthday party. Before that, never really thought twice about going to Jollibee. The first time we went to the drive through, we ordered the 2 piece Chicken joy meal, which includes 2 pieces of chicken, a side, a drink, and a fruit pie. Hubs wanted the spicy, and I opted for the spicy chicken sandwich. We got home, and his face fell flat because they did not give him the spicy chicken. They also did not give him the fruit pie. The line started gettting longer, and more people were waiting for their orders in the parking lot. After a painful 10 minute wait, I hopped out of the truck and headed to the counter. One of their workers was running a bag out, so I asked if that was ours, and she said no. Headed to the counter and handed the cashier my receipt, and told her we have been waiting for nearly 10 minutes. She checked the bag on the counter and apologized because they were waiting for the gravy. (insert head blown emoji). I checked for the pies, and headed out to hubs. I should've checked the chicken, because they failed to give the spicy one. gah! Maybe we have to go in the store to get the order right? The chicken is delicious, the ube pie is amazing. Tried Jollibee and got the Spicy Chicken Deluxe Sandwich, the 2-piece Chickenjoy with Jolly Spaghetti, Pineapple Quencher and both the Ube Pie and Peach Mango Pie. The Spicy Chicken Sandwich was actually really good; crispy, juicy, and had a nice spicy kick without being overwhelming. I'd get it again for sure. For the 2-piece Chickenjoy, I got one regular and one spicy. Spicy was way more flavorful and had that perfect crunch. The regular was still tasty. Both were juicy with crispy skin. The Jolly Spaghetti is exactly what you'd expect if you've had Filipino style spaghetti; sweet and weirdly good. Just wished they gave more sauce; it dried out pretty quickly. Gravy was... meh. Not bad but not something I'd crave or rave about. The chicken doesn't really need it, honestly. The Pineapple Quencher surprised me; it's refreshing and not overly sweet. Yup, the only time I ever eat fried chicken with gravy is with Jollibee's chicken. There's something about the mixture of those two together. I've tried eating a fried chicken from another place using Jollibee's gravy but it's not the same. I think you'll have to try it to know what I'm talking about lol. The palabok is good but I wish there was more sauce. If you order palabok, make sure to ask for extra lemons. It tastes so much better with lots of lemons. I also got pineapple drink (no photo). The mixture of all three just works together for me. You can find Jollibee at Dillingham, Ala Moana food court and inside Seafood City in Waipahu. I wish they'd open one much closer to me. We actually had this twice while there, first night we arrived and last night before we departed the beautiful island. And both times they did not disappoint! Chicken was fresh, spicy and just the right amount of crunch. Must try ( if you already don't know ) dip the chicken in the spicy gravy - full of flavor and does not disappoint ! This hit the spot! I ordered on door dash and this place packaged it so well and great quantity too!! I'm salivating just writing this review. They listened to my request of extra lemon juice for my palabok and got both spicy chicken and they still came super crispy and hot. They didn't forget the gravy either! A very convenient Jollibee located near Downtown Honolulu. Although there is one in Ala Moana Center, when you don't feel like getting out of your vehicle, this would be more your style than walking up for takeout. You can order ahead of time so that is available at all Jollibee locations. Friendly and speedy cashiers on a Thursday afternoon, the employees are excellent. Not so very fast drive thru, but you'll get wonderful customer service. I was greeted at the window with my order confirmation, and a friendly "How are you today?" My order was made correctly, everything tastes better with kindness. This was definitely something good for dinner and I will return for more Coconut Pineapple Pie! read more
