I checked this place out on my way back to the hotel and wasn't disappointed. The host was friendly and gave me a quick appreciation for already knowing what I wanted to eat! The inside was pretty packed for lunch and had some great music playing. The bar, yes they have a bar, only had a few people but I imagine it gets live at night. I ordered the BLT sandwich with a fried thigh and it was everything I thought I needed. A great amount of back and the thigh was thick and juicy. I will definitely be back.

I want to eat all the chicken. Sat at the bar. Loved the vibe and bartender was super friendly. She made a killer Sidecar and wanted to eat more. I will be back and you should visit too

Food was great for a sandwich place. We decided to stop here while on our walk of exploring the pearl district. We had BLT, chicken tenders and spicy jojos. We also ordered the booze slush for this hot day and a berry margarita. Employees were friendly, restaurant was clean and relaxing.

When I walked into Jojo, I was fresh off the Amtrak having not eaten a real meal other than bananas and Sabra hummus snackers in two days. If that context discredits this review at all, I do understand. That being said, Jojo's southern fried chicken sandwich was religion-changing. I ascended. The service was fast and friendly, the vibes are exactly what I needed (casual and cozy and fun). I don't know what husk of a person walked into Jojo but someone new walked out. Is this what baptism feels like? I don't know. This was so good. 10/10 would stumble in here again.

Got three sandwiches. They were okay but definitely not 20 bucks each okay. What was HORRIBLE was the $3.75 "Lemonade". For $3.75 I was thinking, I'ma get me some really good lemonade! Turns out it was just something like minutemaid from a mix (either way, that's so good it wasn't). Like four cents of disgusting mix. Jfc how can you charge $3.75 for minute maid lemonade??? Oh, then DoorDash delivers it with this ridiculous little tamper proof sticker over the straw hole. LOL how about somebody just lifts up the lid and sticks something in it? What a joke, but that's on doordash not JoJo's.

Atmosphere: Food: I thought the BLT was great. Did not love the chicken sandwich. Thought the Jojo's were average. Would like to try the burger in the future. Price: BLT was well priced. Chicken Sandwich a bit expensive given the size. Service: Walk up to order and they bring out the food to you. Didn't take too long for the food to be ready. Parking: Street parking

My friend day trip to support my journey with cancer (chemo port placement), I decided to treat her to lunch at Jojo. As much as I enjoyed the meal, let's be honest, this place is way overpriced due to its location. I get it, we all love a bougie dine-in but, not at a self seating burger joint where you're bussing your own table. Literally *grabs napkin from the table near by since my table didn't have any. We ordered key lime pie... It did something to my heart, OH MY GOODNESS. I was amazed,,, take my coints. We also order The Southern Fried Chicken burger adding an extra side of chicken. That joint was drier than Texas weather on a good Sunday. BUT THE CHEDDAR LOADED JOJO!!!! I was not prepared. Caught me by surprise.... Expectations overload Was the experience worth 60 dollars- absolutely not. But knowing me, I'd be back

These potato wedges they call jojos are immaculate. Seasoned so well and very unique cut of fry. Topped with chives. You get to choose two dipping sauces with the order. Cute look as it's put together almost like jenga pieces. Also got a chicken sandwich but the jojo order stood out for sure

After having an excellent experience at the Jojo food truck earlier this year, we made visiting the restaurant a priority on this most recent trip to Portland. This was a nice temperate Saturday evening and all tables outside were taken. Luckily there was no line. Cheddar Loaded Jojos ($13.50) - I did not expect this to be a tower of jojos. Let's start with the good - the tower is very well constructed. They melt cheddar between every single jojo, allowing the wedges to all cement together into a very structurally stable tower. The problems are multifold. Firstly, using cheese as cement necessitates serving the dish at room temperature, or at least not nearly as hot as fresh fried potatoes. Secondly, since the jojos all come cramped together, they start steaming, resulting in jojos that no longer have the crackly, crispy crust that made me fall in love with the ones served at the food truck. I feel like this dish was invented purely for instagram, to the detriment of the potatoes. Although, I'm not certain that the restaurant even uses the same recipe - even the edges not covered in cheese seem to lack the crackly, starchy surface that the food truck jojos have. Instead of being kind of clumpy, the batter is thin here, and while having a pleasing look due to the reddish spices that the potatoes are tossed in, the seasoning salt taste is not really prominent. I was so looking forward to the jojos only to be horribly disappointed. (2/5) The dish comes with two dipping sauces of which we went with the shallot vinaigrette and the spicy mayo. The former is a sweet, thick and lumpy vinaigrette. The latter is a creamy sauce that has a tangy spicy base. Mr. Onion Cheeseburger ($13) - Don't be an idiot like me and assume Jojo only serves fried chicken sandwiches. I ordered the chicken, but the cashier put in the burger. After asking me to double check the order, I approved it after just reading the "Mr. Onion" part. Oh well, stupid error on my part. I do love a good smashburger, so I wasn't wholly disappointed in the first place. In this case, the burger comes with two smash patties, both cooked on the flat top, resulting in even browning along the faces. They aren't cooked long enough to develop any lacy charring, and instead remain moist and meaty, not drying out at all. On top, they melt a slice of cheese and sprinkle on on chives, then they add a bunch of caramelized onion, brown in color, properly caramelized until sweet. Underneath the burger is a bed of raw onion that seems to be soaked to remove all the raw onion spicy bite, but leaves the onion flavor. Some pickles are added below for some acidity. There's finally a bit of Alabama white BBQ sauce added, very mustardy and creamy. It's all on a bun that compresses until it's almost as flat as a pita - essentially just there as a vessel to hold all the ingredients instead of being an integral part of the sandwich. This makes it so the burger doesn't have too much height to it, allowing it to fit easily in the mouth without stretching the jaw out. The sandwich is tasty, but I do wish it had a more substantial bun and more charring on the patties. (4/5) We visited the next day for brunch to see if there was a one time issue with the jojos: Jojos ($6.50) - Could the previous day have been an aberration? The answer: yes. These are the same as I remembered: supremely fresh crackly and crispy exterior paired with a tender interior. There are multiple types of crispness in the same package. The skin side of the potato has a more delicate crisp while the vertex has a harder crunch. The dish comes with one dipping sauce. We picked the Sweet Chili, which is a generic Thai sweet chili sauce that doesn't really go well with jojos. Oh well. (5/5) Chicken Biscuit ($13) - Huge biscuit with a cleavage line through the center, easily 1.5x or 2x the size of normal biscuits. It's baked until a crunchy crust forms, but the inside remains very fluffy, moist, and tender. It tastes like scallion mixed with an alkaline base. The chicken is seasoned very well and is fried until the breading is nice and crispy. I do think it's over fried since the chicken is stringy in texture. They drizzle a bit of honey over everything so it's sweet and salty. (4/5) Jojo Breakfast Sandwich ($14) - There's a lot going on here, with gooey overflowing eggs, salty bacon, a bunch of cheese, sweet caramelized onions, and even some nice crispy jojos inserted inside. It's tangy, creamy, slightly spicy, salty, savory, rich, all in one sandwich. That's not even mentioning the toasted, yet fluffy shokupan as the bun. It's so decadent that it's actually very difficult to eat due to the wetter ingredients dripping out while eating. (5/5) I don't know what happened with that tower of jojos. Their normal ones are great and I would revisit for more. In fact I'm just going to remove it from my score so Jojo can remain a 5. Bathrooms - Two unisex rooms

this is my favorite vegetarian spicy "chicken" sandwich place! and when I don't feel like eating a sandwich I get the spicy loaded fries, they're both so delicious and filling. the people are always kind here and the food comes out pretty quick. it's a dog friendly place, nice and open inside with plenty of seating and a good amount of picnic tables along the outside wall.

Looking through popular Portland eats and saw everyone rave about Jojo so made it our stop for dinner our first night in town. They have something for everyone - chicken, burgers, salads, vegan options, and drinks! You order at the counter and food is brought to your table. We ordered a mix of dishes - chicken sandwiches, smash burgers, fries and drinks. Everything was excellent and service was very quick. Beautiful interior with lots of greenery, ample seating, and super friendly staff. Slow on the late Sunday night I went but seems like it would be a busy spot most nights. Glad we got to try when we were in town!

My favorite items of the visit were the sake selection, the whole fried snapper (best bite - amazing), the tuna tartare with furikake chips and caviar, and the super tender beef cheek. The mushroom small plate was also pretty good! I didn't like as much the milk buns, they were just ok and I only liked 1 (rooftop grown chive) of the 3 butter shmears it came with. Wasn't woth $6 per bun. While it was a quality cut of meat, the Snake River Wagyu steak dish needed salt and the sauce below it wasn't as flavorful. Perhaps needed cracked black peppercorn, or something to punch up that flavor. I wasn't as impressed with the octopus salad either. Very scant thin tiny octopus slices on top salad greens with lots of sliced raw bell peppers. You'd think it should be called a bell pepper salad with the amount it had in it, instead of the hard-to-find octopus! I couldn't detect a flavor note of the dressing either. Other dishes we tried were lobster bao buns and the seared scallop on jalepeno grits... they were ok but lacked a little flavor. I could not taste the jalepeno on the scallop dish, and the lobster slices were fairly scant and not very succulent. We split the strawberry mochi cake for dessert and it was fun that they added Pop Rocks on top, but the mochi was too tough and dense. A chiffon cake or something light would've been a nicer alternative to end a rich dinner. Service was excellent, and each person who spoke to us or delivered a dish was beautiful & friendly. Be prepared to share dishes when you come here, about 2/3 per person. Prices are on the higher side but I think it matches with the sophisticated ambiance and quality of food. Lots of free parking in the Cascadia parking lot just outside. Will likely come again down the road, for a date night.

To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.

We came to Teardrop Cocktail Lounge while visiting Portland and were genuinely impressed…read more The cocktails were excellent -- thoughtful, well-balanced, and clearly made by people who know what they're doing. One of the best parts was how approachable the bartenders were. We asked for custom drinks based on our preferences, and both came out perfectly tailored. Creative without being weird, and strong without being sloppy. What really stood out was the price point. For the quality of cocktails, the prices felt very reasonable compared to similar craft cocktail bars in other cities. The vibe was also great -- relaxed, cozy, and not pretentious. It felt like a place where you could come for a special drink experience without feeling like you had to "perform" or order off a rigid menu. We liked it so much we actually came back a second time during our trip. Highly recommend if you're into well-crafted cocktails, friendly bartenders, and a laid-back but elevated atmosphere.
