Yelpers never let you down! I was visiting a friend and wanted a local pizza. Johnny's had best rating in the area and I now know why. I drove 8 miles to pick it up and on the way back I ate all 8 slices of my 12" pizza - while driving! Lovely woman at the counter steered me to their best pie - Grandma's. "What makes it best?", I asked. "The sauce." Yes, I agree sauce does, indeed, make the pie. What set this sauce apart? Kitchen sauce on Grandma's, pizza sauce on the others. After having had both I can confidently tell you that both sauces make these pies - delicious. Personally, I like a bit of a soft crust with some center flop. Neither of these are that pizza - which makes it more amazing that I loved both the pies. Crisp, thin crust with good flavor. Big hit at the friend's house, too. Next time we want a pizza, Johnny's it is. They had an extensive menu of salads and Italian dishes as well and I would be willing to bet those dishes are also excellent if the pizza sauces are any clue. Parking tip, the lot is on Mt Pleasant Ave. there were a few dine in tables inside but most orders were to go. Another clue the place would (at least) live up to its star rating was the volume of pick ups on a random Tuesday around 4:30. read more

Pizza - ordered 5 pies, went over - and walking in 20min later, they were just making the pies and not put in the oven yet. That delayed the work lunch. The fresh grandma's was a bit too soggy (fresh moz, tomatoes - all lead to a runny topping set), the regular grandma's was ok, and the favorite was the broccoli rabe w/ sausage in the group. Crust was tougher than Nonna's and overall - had better. Shop is simple, they have some seating and specials, and lots of people from nearby Double Tap which has no food order from here. read more

Stopped in at Johnny's while on a work trip to grab some lunch. It was close to the hotel and looked like a solid spot! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, it felt like it was run by a family which is always great. I tried two slices of their pie, and both were great. The vodka sauce/mozz square slice was the winner, it was EXCELLENT (I came back the next day for another). The restaurant is small, tucked into a shared building, but it's definitely a local spot with a lot of to-go traffic, so it didn't get backed up or crowded while I was there. I came to the area with intentions of going to the Italian Deli next door. The deli was mobbed at lunchtime so I ventured into Johnnys. I got two slices and a Diet Coke. It was good pizza. Nothing to blow your socks off or drive out of your way for. Service was good and friendly. Lots of pre made pies with different toppings were available but they looked like they were sitting for a while. It seemed clean, decor was blah. Just found another Jersey pizzeria that I love! I've been waiting for a chance to visit Johnny's for a while and finally got there. This place is a short drive off Rt 10 in Whippany, just put it in Waze and you'll find it easily. There was a good selection of pies to get a slice from. Since it was my first time here, I went for a Sicilian. It was excellent! Next time, I'll go for a sandwich. The woman behind the counter said they're outstanding (of course, lol). Plenty of parking and seating. Reasonable prices, just $5 for the slice and a bottle of soda. I only met one person who works there, but she was very friendly. I'll be back! read more

Must've passed this place up a hundred times and never stopped in until recently. Probably because the parking lot is back behind the place and not directly off the street. But I'm totally stoked I finally figured that deal out because I gotta say Johnny's makes a Killer Slice of Pizza. It's Full of Authentic Flavor, it's Cheesy, it's Saucy, and it's Crunchy, everything right how it should be.   Was also checking out the menu and I noticed that they make Signature Sandwiches here too so I'll definitely be stopping by again, and again for lunch. Ordered up some pies and wings while drinking some cold beer at Double Tap Brewing. The two are across the street from each other in Whippany. We ordered online (a cheese, a sausage, a Grandma's, and an order of Buffalo wings) and the order would be ready in 25 minutes. While they would have easily delivered, walked across the street to pick up the order. Food was ready as promised and was coming out of the oven as I walked in. Pizza was delicious. Crust had a good crisp to it, sauce was tasty, and overall a delicious pie. Pretty sure the Buffalo wings we ordered had no Buffalo sauce and were just wings. I figured maybe I ordered just wings in error but there was a side of ranch so im guessing the buffalo sauce was missed. A total 5 star experience when it comes to pizza. While i was tossed between 4 or 5 stars, my past experiences have always been grate and the pizza has always been great and the service was wonderful. While it's a growing trend, was not happy that the credit card was was tagged on to the final bill. While I was no looking for signs, not sure if anything was posted or not. Only realized it after the fact. Once again, was ready to deduct a star, but the pizza is really good and this seems to be a growing trend where consumers are passed along the fees that we once took for granted. So moral of the story is cash is king and and will pay in cash next time vs. a credit card. read more

Omg! BILL M WAS RIGHT! This was some pretty good pizza! Now, living in NY for so long, you become a "snob" for certain things like PIZZA, BAGELS, etc, so it's hard to really compare bc nothing beats NY pizza!!! However, this is NOT NY, it's JERSEY lol! And I must say, I was pleasantly pleased with the taste! I ordered a whole buncha stuff and took days to finish it all! And it actually stood up to being eaten a few days later! The Sicilian was really good! And actually if I'm ever in the area again I would stop by and order a pie! The sausage slice was good as well! Tried a Sly Stallone sandwich, shrimp parm and omg the Stromboli was full of pepperoni, they were not cheap with the ingredients! First time getting delivery from this pizza place. The delivery guy was friendly and the prices seemed reasonable. We got two pies, a chicken bacon ranch and a sicilian. Both were good flavor but the latter arrived with a soggy/soft crust and was actually better reheated and I also wish it had more cheese throughout as some parts were lacking. That being said, I would probably order again just with extra cheese and stick it in my oven to crisp up a bit next time since it wasn't a big deal and the flavors were otherwise great. read more

I ordered a full-size cheese pizza and a garden salad for delivery from Johnny's a few days ago. The delivery was quick although the pizza was cool but that's OK. And the quality of the pizza was mediocre. But the reason I'm giving this a two star review is because the house salad was utterly horrible. It was soaked in creamy Italian dressing, and clearly should have had the dressing on the side. I didn't ask for it, and should have, but it seemed as though they accidentally spilled the bottle inside the dish because the salad was swimming in it, and the dressing itself was not very tasty. Thank you! I almost never write reviews because I just don't have time, but this place is absolutely worthy of good one. We took a chance while out of town and ordered from here through GrubHub. It was 8:30 at night after a long day of sightseeing, in a hotel room with 3 hungry kiddos. My expectations were low. I can't even express my gratitude that the food arrived early, was piping hot, and absolutely amazing. We had the chicken Parm, spaghetti and meatballs, a cheese pizza, a steak sandwich and steamed broccoli (seriously, at a pizza place). The portions were HUGE. The $11 pizza was fantastic and everything else was too. After getting lost and a 2 hour car ride, Johnny's saved the day. Many thanks! Very very rude , I called to order for delivery, she asked for my address told her I was at a hotel down the street she said we "don't deliver there we don't deliver there " and then hung up the phone. I called back trying to proceed with my order telling her she was rude and I was trying to offer to pick it up to accommodate my self and and the young lady on the phone said no you wanted a something we don't have and I told her we established that and asked for 2 orders and told her she rudely hung up on me as I was trying to order she caught a Nasty attitude and said " you know what you can find somewhere else to go you can find somewhere else to go I said that was rude tried to ask to speak to someone and she disrespectfully hung up . We have ordered from Johnny's a few times and haven't been disappointed. They deliver when promised and the food it hot. Our order included their lunch special and we got a variety of their pizzas. Hard to pick a favorite pizza because they all disappeared so fast. We have also tried a few of their catering items. Everything was great. We enjoyed the garlic knots, the salad, the antipasti, fried zucchini, pasta & broccoli, and chicken piccata Johnny and his staff are friendly and their food hits the spot. There are lots of pizza places in NJ but finding the good ones like Johnny's can be challenging. Johnny's is a cut above the rest. So go visit and enjoy some really good pizza. read more

I'm in town monthly for work and usually get in from SF late in the evenings so my choices on a Sunday can be few. Read the solid YELP reviews about Johnny's food and friendly service and called in an order within half an hour of their closing on a Sunday night. I'm not normally a veggie pizza kinda guy but I ended up trying their Veggie Delight Large Pizza and the crust was delish and I'm a sucker for big dollops of ricotta ! Looking forward to trying their eggplant parm and veal dishes next. Glad to have family run, authentic Italian eateries near my workplace and hotel when I town. Johnny's Pizzeria pumps out low quality tasteless pizza and doesn't seem to even care. It's a pizzeria in as much as the frozen pizza section of your local supermarket makes that supermarket a "pizzeria." I would compare Johnny's pizza to taking Wonder Bread and rubbing Ketchup on it with cheap shredded mozzarella cheese. I wouldn't eat it if it were free! You might as well just go to Costco up the road and get their whole fresh pizza for just $9.99. read more
