I met a friend for lunch at Johnny's this past weekend, and I'm surprised by its poor Yelp rating/reviews. I had a great experience at Johnny's. The weather was gorgeous, so we enjoyed our brunch on their lovely patio out front (but the inside of the restaurant looked great as well). The service was great even though they were a little busy. And the menu was broad and sure to please just about everyone. I wasn't up for a boozy brunch, but Johnny's offers some great coffee drinks. I ordered one that was cold brew and oat milk and a tiny bit of fruit preserves that was really good. (They also have brunch drinks and lots of wine.) For my meal, I chose the veg omelet of the day. The eggs were perfectly cooked; I rarely order eggs/omelets because they are so often overcooked. And the omelet wasn't overstuffed. Basically, it was my ideal omelet. And it came with a side salad of greens tossed in a lemony dressing with Parmesan shavings. My friend got the same coffee as I did and had the breakfast burrito for her meal. We also shared the complimentary bread with jam and butter and a side of chips. The brunch menu is quite large - with starters to share, breakfast menu items, and more lunch-y brunch options. Overall, it was a great brunch - good food, good service, and a lovely atmosphere out on that patio! I'm definitely planning on coming back for another meal/brunch. read more

The 12 minute wait after making my takeout order should have been a red flag. The chicken in the chicken sandwich is crunchy, and the buns are nice brioche. But it stops there. Flavorless chicken, not even brined. Coleslaw was an interesting take on the side. It just tasted like mayonnaise. The tomato bisque was, fine. Average. The same size container as my coleslaw side. For $10. If I wanted to pay that much for that little food I would have gone to Panera. However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. My son did love the kids hamburger. So you get two stars. Do not recommend. read more

Food was very good. Soup was delicious, salad was great. Oysters okay. Timing was a little off. Here's the rub, asked three times for a dessert and coffee menu. Never got it. So many servers, but couldn't get dessert. Sigh. We gave up. Take cash! read more

It is my go to lunch place with friends. Food good service good. Quiet in rear. Great cookies

Miranda our server was exceptional. The ambience and food is very warm and stellar. We look forward to coming back soon. Our entire party loved everything they ordered. read more

Man ole man, this place was hiding from me. Like, literally tucked in a corner of a plaza on Roland Avenue. This place is great. The staff is extremely professional and well versed in the menu-friendly as well. The berry Christmas cocktail was amazing. The crab bisque was so I good I order a second on for dessert . The salmon dish was great too, but if you like soup and crab- get the soup! read more

Surprised Johnny's doesn't have a higher score because the food is generally very good. I have mostly been for dinner, but I have been there for brunch a few times and I think their dinner food is better. Among the things I've had that were very good are the fried green tomatoes, oysters both raw and fried, tempura shrimp, several fish entrees including salmon and blackfish ones, and a very delicious beet and goat cheese salad that I've had several times because it was so good. They don't seem to always have dinner specials but they do have some good happy hour specials. Half-priced bottles of wine on Sunday night. The restaurant itself is nice but not formal, mostly situated in a dropped down area and with four separate rooms. Fairly low lighting. The brunch buffet has been in the far back room when I've been. They have bathrooms both in front and in back (including non-gender-specific ones so good job there). A few downsides: it is fairly pricey, especially the dinner entrees. Not saying it isn't worth it, but just be aware entrees can run 25-30ish. There are plenty of other sandwich and small plate options though. Parking is limited; maybe 10 spaces in the actual lot but there is usually plenty on the street. Servers are always friendly but service can be slow at times. Also once I ordered a sundae and it was weirdly small, like the sundae cup was only 3/4 full. So that was weird, I haven't noticed that problem with other desserts though so maybe just a fluke. Anyway, the food has never disappointed taste-wise and that's the most important thing! read more

I came here a few days ago for the first time and overall, I'd rate it 3 1/2 stars. It was burger Tuesday (half off burgers) and all of us ordered the Angus burger (I added bacon to mine). The burger itself was pretty good and so were the fries. We also had fried oysters and ceviche as appetizers, but those were pretty mediocre. I don't recommend the ceviche, but Johnny's doesn't strike me as a place where that dish makes a whole lot of sense. read more

We dined at Johnny's in January with my wife and two daughters. We sat in the dining section behind the bar. During the meal, we saw a mouse climb down the cast iron pipe, crawl on the ledge and up the other cast iron pipe into the ceiling. We notified the waiter and no one came by, no manager to ask questions. As a medical professional, I understand the disease that mice can carry. They randomly with urinate and defecate, droppings, such as on ledges. Sanitation is a concern. if they are in the dining area, there is a high probability they are in the food service area, a food source, that is being served to customers. They tend to reside behind the walls, in and under cabinets. If they are in the restaurant, they will have to hire a pest control to find where and how they are getting in the facility, otherwise it will be a recurrent problem. As we finished, we watched the waiter sit their customer at the table, against the wall, where the mouse crawled on the ledge. Disgusting. There was another Google reviewer who also commented on the mice in Johnny's 2 months ago. Recently a friend dined there and there are still mice there. Apparently the manager did not heed our warning and notify the owner. Johnny's need to be inspected by the Department of Health and closed till the mice infestation is resolved. We will not be going back. read more

Went here with my family for brunch on my mom's birthday. As always, the food was amazing (perfect eggs Benedict!) and something for everyone -- my sister raved about the vegetarian black bean burger! The staff is attentive and considerate and makes you feel right at home. Atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant, easy to enjoy (and you may always run into old friends!) and just perfect. Best of all they sent us home with a complimentary set of their awesome cookies since it was mom's birthday! read more

In a city that has a lot of great affordable food options, I found this place overpriced for what it is. I ordered brisket tacos which were $25. They were good, but not 25 dollars good. They had the place set up with a Harry Potter theme which was also underwhelming. A few banners and posters, a small number of HP themed drinks isn't worth a special trip. Everyone in my party thought the Harry Potter themed drinks were too sweet and those were also $13. This place seems really popular but I'm not sure why. This is on the higher end of Baltimore's price point but not on the higher end of being unique or inspired. read more

The food was very good, however, the service was horrendous. The waiter needed constant reminders. Everything took twice as long as on any restaurant of the same class. read more

I had heard so much about Johnny's and was glad I finally got to go. It was good. The ambiance and space are nice. The bread they bring out, in the beginning, is just meh, not worth the calories or ruining your appetite with it. The tempranillo by the glass was actually quite good. The food was decent. I got a black bean burger which was impossible to eat like a burger given that it was between two pieces of toast but was fine eaten with a fork. My friend's omlette looked quite appetizing and the fries were nicely done. The service was a bit slow, we definitely had to be looking for our server at the end to bring the check. Overall, Johnny's is a solid decent place - excellent? No. Good? Yes. read more

Ordered the grill cheese with bacon and tomato and the bread was overly toasted and there was very little cheese on the sandwich. Y'all definitely need help making cheese sandwiches with a variety of cheese and the bread your using isn't suitable for grilled cheese. I sent it back, new order the same bread overly toasted and oil smh, the fries was also oil... so dissatisfied. They did give me 5 cookies for dissatisfaction., Thanks to the patient waiter however in my Chef Ramey voice....Dog food read more

The service was really good. Our Waiter Clarence took really good care of us. Our happy hour drink (cranberry whisky sour)was really good. So was the shrimp tempura appetizer. The old bay aioli sauce really had a ton of good flavor. The only thing I would recommend would be to add some more flavor to the spaghetti and meatballs. The sauce was a little runny and lacked taste. read more

Food and service were very good, but be careful when you order something gluten free. We had heard so much good about this restaurant but left very disappointed. Our Caesar salads had pre-fab croutons and dressing with almost no flavor. Where was the garlic? The lemon? The soup wasn't thick and came served in chipped bowls. When we asked the waitress about the bowls, she was surly, saying that new ones had been ordered. I don't mind paying a high price for good food; I do mind doing so for mediocrity. read more

Visited this restaurant with friends I haven't seen for a long time. Server gave us a chance to talk and catchup and didn't rush us in ordering or anything else. Leisurely ordered drinks and then breakfast/brunch. I had the Huevos Ranchero Tostada with the house made salsa and it was both filling and delicious. The service and atmosphere were excellent and an overall great brunch. I look forward to coming back and trying other brunch foods or dinner. Give it a try, nice place! read more

Johnny's - Very nice brunch menu. Try the Huevos Rancheros Tostada! - Seafood Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

On a Sunday morning, I tried Johnny's for the first time with two friends. Breakfast was delicious. My omelette was fresh and portions were generous. my friend and I shared the carrot cake for dessert and this too was scrumptious. Unfortunately, the service was slow, as we waited nearly 1/2 hour for coffee. Also meals took an inordinate amount of time to arrive. The bathroom, trash cans were overflowing and paper was on the floor. The waitress informed us they were understaffed and backed up at the beverage bar so we would have to wait for coffee. Customers like their coffee served promptly. I would consider giving Johnny's another try, because the food was tasty, but I would probably have coffee at home first and I don't think I will go on a Sunday morning. Johnny's seems ill prepared to handle a Sunday morning rush. read more

this was the worst service I've ever encountered. We took my sister here for her GRADUATION lunch and we waited over an hour and a half for our food. there was only one other couple next to us in the restaurant and they got their food within 30 minutes of being seated. When we asked where our food was, the waiter did not apologize, rush to go get it or show any urgency to bring us our meal. Then when he brought us our food , we were missing two items we ordered. When we brought our bill to the manager and told her we were incredibly disappointed with the service especially considering how it was not busy at all she said "oh sorry do you want some cookies to go?" no we don't want cookies we wanted our food in a timely fashion. read more

The reason we came here was because I was super hungover and looking for brunch spots and the Kiko fried rice caught my eye! I was craving rice, but also wanted eggs and this was the perfect combo. While my food didn't disappoint, the service was a bit slow. For example, it took over 15 minutes for our coffees to come after ordering it, which seems a bit long. In any case, our waiter was nice enough and overall I'd definitely come back. I also loved stealing my boyfriend's fries which were super yummy. We sat in the more formal dining area, but if and when we come back, specifically for brunch/lunch, I think we'd just sit in the counter area. read more

Johnny's gives a great date night ambience and the service was good as well. The only thing I'd say needs improvement is the food, I had the Salmon dish and all the flavor was on the skin which I don't eat so, that my made my salmon a little bland. My date had the crab bisque that lacked any seasoning. I think the server knew because she asked I him if he'd like some pepper lol. We loved the Sriracha cauliflower and fries starters though. read more

We came for happy hour with a large group and I was surprised it was pretty busy on a Monday night. The service was excellent, we had two servers who were very attentive. The drinks and food were very good, the black bean dip especially! I liked the ambience a lot too, it was just a little hard to find the entrance (downstairs behind the little shopping center). I'd like to come back for dinner someday soon! read more

Cute place we went to lunch with my brother-in-law and nephew. Apparently on Wednesday's they have a whiskey special and burgers are half off. The guys got burgers and I tried the fried chicken sandwich. It was really tasty and a big piece of chicken. The bread is soft to and not too filling which is great. I liked the sauce that it came with. The fries were good. Our waiter was attentive and we had 3 kids with us so they were quick to get our food out to us. I would definitely go back if I'm in the area. They have cookies to! Wish I could've tried it, next time! read more

I don't think I have ever been more disappointed with a restaurant in my life. Ordered a crispy chicken sandwich meal and fish of the day, halibut, which was supposed to come with green beans and roasted fingerling potatoes. Both to go. 50 bucks plus 10 dollar tip. Bag felt light. Opened container to find bland chicken sandwich in one box, no fries, sauce, or any sides, and a 4oz piece of fried fish in the other with a handful of mushy green beans and potatoes sprinkled at the bottom. would have been disappointed even for $20. read more

I look forward to going back. Three of us had the short ribs, which were delicious. The fried cauliflower "wings" were not really like wings but were delicious, with a combination of perfectly thin and crisp batter-fried cauliflower soaked in a sweet and slightly spicy syrup that was thin but somehow neither caused the batter to get soggy nor made it feel heavy. The space was perfect for a sophisticated yet casual night out with friends, and we talked for an hour at our table after the bill was paid. Makes me want to move to Roland Park so I could walk to there to eat with friends more often. read more

Average dinner. My buddy and I came here for dinner tonight. There were long waits before ordering and between courses. We had an excellent appetizer of deep-fried slightly spicy cauliflower. Then he had the fried fish platter, we shared cornmeal crusted fried oysters, and I had fried rice. The fried oysters were delicious, the fried fish and the fried rice were slightly greasy. Everything was nice. The server was friendly, but they were long waits between visits. All in all, a nice place read more
