Stopped by with my friend before we set off for our drive home after a couple days around Letchworth State Park. We came in around 10AM on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy. We were told to sit wherever we wanted so we did. Our waitress took our drink orders right away. We both opted for black coffee. The coffee was pretty good, but I'm not exactly a coffee snob. I ordered the Breakfast Garbage Plate with sausage, homefries, and scrambled eggs. It comes smothered in sausage gravy which I happen to really enjoy. The serving size was generous and I thought my food was pretty good. The only gripe I had was the potatoes could've been cooked a little more. Some of them were a bit firm. My friend ordered the Hungryman Plate. He says it was decent but had similar complaints about the potatoes. They were also a little underseasoned. Again, the serving size was generous, especially the pancakes. My friend shared the pancakes with me but unfortunately they were a little lackluster. They were a bit soggy which was disappointing. They weren't completely inedible, but we didn't finish them. The waitress noticed and asked if we needed a to-go container. We said yes but we weren't aware that we would be charged $0.75 to take something to go. Not a huge deal, but it's annoying to feel like you're getting nickel and dimed. Since the pancakes were just meh we probably would've just left them if we had known we'd be charged extra to take them. It seems like breakfast options were limited in the area, but John & Sarah's is a totally OK place. I wouldn't be opposed to returning if I were in the area. read more

Great little local diner with some serious food. We stopped in on our way through Perry, very easy to find, and enough parking. No stairs to get in but there is a tiny step up. There are mostly booths with just a few counter seats and a couple high top tables. Bathrooms are M/F but one at a time. The ladies room door didn't lock well, but I wasn't in there long anyway lol. You'd better be hungry if you order the Hungry man for breakfast. Hubby could not finish it! He drinks tea and they only had Earl Grey, so that was disappointing for him to not have some plain black tea. The coffee was great but I did have to request a refill, and it wasn't busy. My 3-egg omelette was huge and full of stuff (I appreciate the onions were grilled first) and I chose not to finish it so I could try some of their own recipe pancakes. The pancakes were so delicious - light fluffy and served with real butter. I couldn't finish those either! I should have asked for real maple syrup (not sure if that's an option) as they gave us a large container of "mystery syrup," which was ok, but these pancakes deserve real syrup! Kiersten, our server, was excellent and can carry many many things at a time. We would stop back again when in the area! read more

While visiting a friend out in Perry, we decided to pick up some lunch from John & Sarah's restaurant. I ordered their crunchy chicken club wrap with a side of salad and italian dressing. Our pickup time was fairly quick and the food came carefully packaged, which I appreciated. I was surprised to see that the wrap had a tomato tortilla shell, but it was surprisingly good! The chicken inside was still crispy and delicious after the drive and the wrap paired well with my side salad. I would definitely give this menu option a try! read more

We wanted to - as usual - help a local small business. We tried to like this small place but it wasn't easy. I opted for a fried fish fry which is pan-fried. It was NOT served pan-fried at all. I suspect it was put on the grill, covered with a pan lid and steamed. There were NO fry browning on the fish at all. I were eating soup, and the fish was delivered as we were STILL eating, so the fish got cold. Cold "cooked" fish is not tasty at all. My first time ever served and ate a cold fish, which was not tasty. By time we got to bed, my stomach was tossing and turning, not me but my stomach. read more

Small, nice, clean, good food. What more can you ask for? We stopped in after a cold morning at the Arts/Craft show. My choice was a 3 egg steak skillet with Texas toast. Dang that plate was HUGE!! I literally ate half for brunch and the other half for dinner. My wife had a grilled chicken salad and that was huge as well. The table to my left both had burgers and they looked super delicious too! Unfortunately, Perry is about an hour away, but I'm planning to eat here next year after the show, or the next visit to Letchworth state park. Well done little diner!!! read more

Stopped in for lunch with some work colleagues while in the area for the day. The place was filled with locals which is always encouraging. Fortunately, there was still a table or two open to accommodate us. Quite a lot of options on the menu in addition to a page of specials. Two of us went with the grilled chicken with cheese sandwich, side salad and a starter cup of chili. Another got a burger and the last guy crazily picked the pot roast dinner that turned out to be huge. All our food came out hot and fresh and in no time. My chicken sandwich was fabulous but I could only down half of it as it was too much. Huge portions seem to be the theme here. The cup of chili was also quite good with just the right amount of heat for my liking. Service was attentive and friendly for us out of towners. Prices were quite reasonable to boot. Not much more to ask from a lunch place beyond good food, huge portions, friendly service and reasonable prices. read more

Their taco and broccoli cheese soups were delicious. I had the special goulash which had to have been the best I've ever had. Cousin had the chicken and biscuits which was great too! It was packed on Father's Day morning but they are an efficient team working pleasantly which kept the whole little place feeling comfortable. This spot features great home cooking. I ordered the meat loaf, they ran out, so my second choice was the roast turkey dinner, which came with all the Thanksgiving trimmings. The cranberry sauce was great, the stuffing flavorful, the turkey was white meat, the potatoes were good, the carrots were nicely done. There was also a roll, and dinner salad that accompanied the feast. I also opted for the rhubarb pie, and coincidentally was talking about how I wanted just rhubarb pie, sans strawberries, and that it was hard to find. I hate giving bad reviews, but the service here was the worst I have ever received. The waitress was so entirely rude and was very snippy. She handed us our check before asking us if we wanted anything else (which we did) and when we said we did she kind of ripped the check back from us and we were met with a nasty attitude. Then, when we asked for a side plate she said we don't do that here. Which, is also something I have never got barked at for. We just wanted to split our buffalo wings!
