Life is short, too short to spend on questionable dining choices. Our first excursion to the Barn Restaurant was a delightful trip down memory lane. The enchantingly nostalgic roadside decor and the delicious breakfast items made us determined to return in the future. Today we traveled 100 miles round trip on a beautiful sunny evening to sample the famous fish fry at the Barn Restaurant. To say that we were disappointed is an understatement. The French fries were limp and merely warm. The broiled Cajun fish fry was very tough and dried out, owing to its being only 1/2 thick. Will we ever return? I doubt it...

Eggs Benedict

What a cute little find on our way to Canada. I had ham and cheese soup with a grilled cheese sandwich. Soups was yummy and hardy. My husband had eggs Benedict which was really good. So kudos to the cook . Very friendly staff and lots of memorabilia throughout the diner. Loved it

I stopped here with my wife for lunch on the way home. It is a step back in time from the exterior decor to the interior. Lots of memorabilia from early 1900s but the interior was not cluttered it was tastefully decorated and clean. The food was also very good at at a good price. My wife had a REAL chocolate milkshake and a BLT sandwich, I had a Rueben melt with fries. I know we are not going to be eating a big dinner tonight as the lunch was very filling. It's worth a stop if you are in the area and hungry.

Stopped in for a late lunch while driving through town on our road trip. We have this place saved as a favorite on our gps. The ice cream was just as good as the last time we stopped in. So many interesting and delicious flavors. We sampled a few and then picked our favorites. The scoops are still as generous and the price is great. We started with ice cream and ended with cheeseburgers which we ate in the car as we drove. Sadly our burgers were way under cooked and there was no going back since we were on a travel time crunch. I ate around the raw meat. The bun and toppings were fresh and tasty. But I couldn't do it, so hubby who has an iron gut finished mine. I'm sure they would have done something about it if we went back. The staff is always so friendly there. Would definitely stop in again, but just for the ice cream.

Seating is also very comfortable and convenient

Great service and food !! Also the waitress and owner are great and we're always available!

cotton candy cone of my dreams!

What originally was just my desperate plea for a bathroom stop turned out to be such good spot that The Barn is now marked as a favorite on my parents GPS! On our first visit we each got ice cream and on our second we got ice cream and french fries to go. My dad is a big ice cream lover and an even bigger lover of a good deal. So you can imagine our surprise when the small cone came with a heaping amount of ice cream layered on top! We found out the ice cream is Perry's which we've never had before but were wowed by the sweet and creamy taste and unique flavors. I had to go for cotton candy because even in my 30s I'm still a kid at heart (and in stomach). The flavors my dad wanted most were out, but they loved what they got! On our second visit we got fries to go, which turned out to be another great deal. A heaping container of freshly fried fries kept us satisfied for quite a few miles after we left! Now the original reason we came was a bathroom break, so I'd be remiss to not mention the clean and welcoming restrooms. And parking as well as indoor and outdoor seating was plentiful. Service was quick and super friendly both visits. What a great gem this place is! I hope to return soon!

5 stars? For a place on a long country road ( Hwy 63) South of Lake Ontario and West of Syracuse, NY? Yes, 5 stars. First impressions are everything! Visually greeted by the local antiquity of the building with the old bathtub planters and the old gas pump out front, the rusty relics of old trucks parked in the back. It's one of those visions that make you turn the wheel....ya gotta go in. We entered and the first thing we saw were what I'll call "the table of legends" these were folks that I will assume are there everyday, talking AG and trucking, swapping stories, and drinking coffee. Greeted like family, we were by the owners and staff at The Barn restaurant. The sign on the wall said cash only and we are told that they will soon have an ATM. Lynn walked over to the gas station next door. Cool local and accumulated antiques are everywhere you look. Most are transportation themed like the old tin toy trucks, a bicycle mounted on the wall and a cool wall sized photo of the the original Essie station and store that was there back in the hay day. Lynn and I ordered the Poutine, a massive oval plate with a pile of French fries, chunks of cheese curds, and a rich brown gravy...the real deal! I told our lovely waitress ( who's name escapes me because I'm old) that I am a Chef and she brought out a little monkey dish with a meat sauce that the Chef is working on for their dinner "garbage plate" and asked me what was missing. A little more salt and a bit more cooking time was my response. Lynn ordered eggs and bacon with potatoes that were as good as it gets, and I went the lunch route with a properly made local specialty called Beef on Weck. The Weck refers to the Kummelweck roll that the sliced beef is served on, soft and studded with caraway seeds and served with straight up horseradish. Very delicious and I felt I was eating the right thing at the right place, at the right time. We paid and before we left we spent a few minutes talking antiques, and swapping stories of our own with the Chef/owners/ and new friends that we made in the short blip of time that we spent at The Barn Restaurant. About 150 miles away, I thought that I left my phone there and my first thought was "Yay, we get to go back to The Barn!" But unfortunately, I found my phone deep in the belly of Lynn's purse. It was that kinda place.

Good place to stop in for a nice home cooked breakfast. Didnt really feel like a diner more like you're at home sitting around your dining room table with family. Staff was very friendly and the place was clean with a wonderful atmosphere. Loved the theme of the place along with the fact that you can get Perry's ice cream! Perry's is the best and they had every flavor you could think of!

Well well well did we ever luck out today (SATURDAY)…read more You know that the food is good when you get that happy food dance. Let me tell you... I was happy food dancing the whole way through my Beef on a Weck. Let me back up a minute and take yall start to finish, we walked in and there was a clear "please seat yourself" sign by the checkout. The place feels small town and adorable. The wooden booths aren't here for your comfort, but the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Our server greeted us with a smile and was super helpful. She was friendly and talked us through the menu. I settled on the must have Beef on a Weck (no sides) while my partner had the Fire grilled Roast Beef and Swiss with sweet potato fries. I didn't even know what a Weck was until we stopped by today. When the plate was placed infront of me I knew I would loveee what was to come next. Beef on a Weck... it is served open faced because the meat is the clear feature here... but when I flipped it over I knew what to do.... eat this beast upside down (meaning seasonings touch the tongue when you take a bite). Trust this foodie... this hack takes that sandwich to the next level!!!! The horseradish provided was very good and had a nice bite, and I like Horseradish, but the seasonings (sea salt and cardamom seeds) on that bun are what I really found myself seeking every bite. Man that was delicious. Now not to be out done, the Fire Grilled Rst Beef and Swiss was also a head turner too! The warm roast beef and melty Swiss cheese did not disappoint. The sandwich bread was toasted to perfection, and it was also delicious! The side of sweet potato fries just took the whole dish to the next level! While our stomachs did not allow room for dessert (likely due to the amount of meat each sandwich contained) I was almost tempted to try the caramel cheesecake. Prices were also extremely reasonable especially considering the quality! All in all this was a fabulous stop and we would go out of our way to come again on a Saturday when the Roast Beef is fresh!

Although this is a small restaurant with limited seating, I actually think that's what makes it the…read moreplace to consider. We had excellent meals. The service was hometown, friendly feel. Easy to find; right on the main road. Plenty of Parking was in the back of the building. My husband got wings and they were better than any of the wings that we got in Buffalo! I got the special of the day: salad with pecans and fruit. I added grilled chicken. Everything was fresh and tasty, plus, they didn't skimp on the fruit and pecans!!
