Burgers are small. A sandwich, burger joint that relies on cheese for flavor. Most items have cheese. Reuben was dry, fries limpy. Swiss burger was bland until you add the sauce. read more

Driving home from Letchworth, we decided on a late lunch and food this place. It's a little bit hidden, parking is in the back. Nice old building with lots of interesting history, plenty of setting and chill music playing. Server was super nice and welcoming. Took good care of us. Being Sunday, they only serve their brunch menu which has plenty of options. I was a little hesitant on the wings but gave them a try. They were awesome! Great flavor combination, perfectly crispy skins, and true jumbo size wings. The burger was awesome too, great combination of flavors and perfectly cooked. French fries were perfectly seasoned and as good as everything else. I look forward to coming back and trying items from the non-brunch menu. read more

Strange brew, killin' what's inside of you" (Cream) I just read that Strange Design was Geneseo's first brewery. It's inside an ancient brick mill building up on the second floor. We had an excellent lunch today. It was excellent for three reasons. Reason #1 was our beers. We each drank Emmeline (5.2% and 22 IBU. It's a Scottish 80 schilling ale with "Caramel and toffee notes". It was light, super drinkable, very refreshing and delicious. Reason #2 was our food. My wife had a Grilled Turkey Pesto Sandwich ($15.50) with turkey, provolone, and a basil pesto on grilled sourdough bread. I had a Farmhouse Cheddar Burger ($16.50) with BBQ sauce, cheddar, bacon, and crispy onions. I loved my burger! Both are offered with fries or a side salad. We both had the fries, and they were crispy, piping hot and excellent. Reason #3 was our server, Ryan. She was an absolute delight to deal with. She was funny, informative, friendly, and just plain great. Nothing strange about Strange Design. We loved it a lot. read more

We went to Strange Design on a Tuesday night for dinner and beer. The brewery is in a beautifully renovated old Public House and has indoor and outdoor seating. I had the Reuben (fantastic!) and my friend had the veggie burger (very good). Both were made entirely in house. The fries were also perfectly cooked. The beer was excellent (also brewed there). Service was friendly. If we are ever in town again we will go back. read more

Towards the end of town, we saw three old two to three-story red-brick builtings, with one of them being a restaurant, Strange Design Public House. So we stopped to try it out. Not only was it a restaurant, it was a brewery too. Short and sweet, the food and beer was amazingly good. read more

Stopped here for lunch while on our way to Silver Lake, definitely a hidden gem!! Food was very good (Greek Salad for my husband and I had Chicken Tenders with hand cut fries). Beer was really good too! Ryan was our server, she was super friendly and most helpful regarding the area and suggested places we should explore while visiting the area and Letchworth State Park. Pub food that starts with better than average ingredients, is thoughtfully concocted and prepared with care. Burger was cooked to a perfect medium, wings were really big and seasoned well. Nice service in an interesting historical building. Will be my new go-to on my next visit to town. read more

We went on a really busy night and waited over an hour and fifteen for our food. However, the food was yummy, portions were sizable and the waitress was so kind and as attentive as possible given the crowd. Fried pickles were good and so were the beers we tried. What a delightful discovery in the heart of Livingston County. you walk up all the stairs, or take the elevator if you need to, to this 19th century venue. The items on the menu are very interesting. Their assortment of beers is excellent. The wait staff are pleasant and knowledgeable. Do try the raspberry beer and the citrus beer, currently numbers 15 and 13 on their menu. Public House had terrible service when I visited. There were very few servers so most likely this was caused by piss-poor management. Five of us were sat at a small table perched on a single stool. It took 15 mins for a server to come and take our drink order. We were not checked on for another 1.5 hours until our food came out. One member of the party had her food delivered to another table! After having to find the serving station to get silverware and napkins for the table, we had enough. We complained and finally got the members food. My dish, the chicken finger plate can maybe feed a small child and they hardly give you sauce. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Go to the Village Tavern instead. read more

Great service, great beers, and absolutely delicious, unique food. Also love that there's always some good tunes playing. Some of our favorites are the mockingbird fried chicken sandwich (the sauce is ), the brussel sprout nachos, the grits, and whatever the flatbread special of the week is, always kills. Would love to actually be able to go to this place, we've been once and it was quick and we've wanted to go back ever since. Every time we go the hours posted online say open and you get to the door and there is a sign "closed for a private event" Super disappointing that they can't post anywhere or update their hours to say they are closed. You drive all the way out to Geneseo and have to turn around. This is such an easy fix, a simple Instagram post would even suffice. read more

Decided to give Strange Design a try for the first time. It was really nice. The ambiance was relaxing; the place was rather dim with nice music playing. Our server Tom was great, he was very friendly and checked in on us periodically. My group and I tried the chicken and waffles, chicken sandwich, and veggie burger. Omg must I say, it was the best veggie burger I've ever had. I was surprised because the sandwich just comes with a patty and dressing (didn't look like much) but wow! That's all it needed. I will definitely be back for the veggie burger. I did not try the other items but my group said it was good! read more

Been there 3 times: first was OK, second was Wow, Third was Yuk! If a restaurant can not repeat a simple sandwich, it is incompetent. Upon communication I expected they might offer us something , anything to assuage our unhappiness as we dropped $100 the last trip. Maybe I am out of touch as that seems a bit high for sandwiches & beer (with a good tip to the Tender). Look it up if in the area. Note: I did not order the wings but the guys at bar next to me did. Biggest wings I ever saw and lots of sauce options. My son plays hockey at Geneseo and after being in the area for a week we came across the name Strange Design when looking for places to eat & drink and knew it had to be a phriendly place, and it was! We first stopped in for a beer before the game and they had some Goose jamming out and then went back for dinner and it didn't disappoint. We had fried ravioli, ribs, wings, Cesar salad, short rib poutine and burgers and all were excellent, plus a dose of Phish as our dinner music. Really cute space, good beer selection and really nice folks! They were pretty busy when we came, so we took our food to go to eat outside. The salt & vinegar wings were delicious!! However when we opened the $19 poutine we were really disappointed-fries were completely burnt and inedible. Pretty sure they would not have served those to the table had we dined in - but took the chance since we were carry out. That wasn't great but will give it another chance for sure. read more
