Yum! A little off the highway but totally worth it if you want a top notch sandwich. Gf and I after traveling all morning were hungry for a sandwich and I was on food patrol. Found this spot an hour away searching for good spots to eat along the way. Street parking could be hard to find if during a busy time. Lots of good food selections to choose from. I was going to order a chicken parm but had that for dinner the night before so went with a meatball. Gf went with a veggie grinder. Took maybe ten minutes for it to be ready and we went across the street and sat at the table of the other business that was closed. We both enjoyed our sandwiches. Sub sandwich: bread was dry, meat was sparse. Na....make a better sandwich. Location is a bit out of town. But build it and they will come.

The food there is amazing. And the girls that work there are even better! Wonderful customer service only a 20 minute wait period if you order over the phone and if you order inside they have you in and out in under 10 minutes. This unassuming deli is making some delicious subs! We were looking for a solid lunch to eat during the eclipse viewing, so we picked up an Italian sub. The bread was so fresh and all of the ingredients were high quality. The staff went out of their way to point out their list of signature subs to us and made the sandwich quickly. Spotted this deli kitty corner from my fave Batavia spot, Poka Dot. Decided to check it out recently. It's a nice little spot, with quite a variety of chips and snacks to choose from. The sub options were fairly priced. I went with the Italian Assorted (salami, capicola, prosciutto, provolone) with lettuce, tomato, Mayo, and oil. The roll was super soft, and I knew with this type of roll anything left over would not be good later (I was right). The combo of the meats had quite a heavier kick to them than I was expecting. The meats were sliced SUPER thin, which was very impressive. The quantity of meat was inferior to pretty much any other deli that I've ever been to, which is the main reason I am only giving them 3 stars. Tasty, good price, very friendly staff, but severely lacking in substance. I'll likely give them another shot one day to see if it was just an anomaly or not. read more

Our workplace is kind enough to get us food from our favorite takeout place on our birthday. I picked southside because somebody else did. Great subs, made to order, enough variety for everybody, hot or cold, not soggy, delish. Same quality as the new Jer$ey Mike's in Batavia, but without the cost. Will get them again. read more

If you're hungry, and looking for a great hoagie for lunch. Stop looking. You've found it. Fresh bread, crispy veggies, cold cuts sliced in front of your eyes. I had a whole hoagie and an iced tea for around 12 bucks! Both times I couldn't resist ordering "the nuclear" just enough spice to be glad that I bought an iced tea to wash it down. I'm thinking of driving from Buffalo to Batavia today for another cheese sub. The one I had on Saturday reminded me of how subs used to be. Sigh. Just call me Boomer but don't call me late for lunch, got it? While I skipped the very tempting array of desserts (slice of mile-high carrot cake or a peanut butter brownie, anyone?), I'll be back soon. Stopped at the Southside for an early lunch. Ordered a roastbeef sub with provolone ,lettuce, tomato, mayo, salt and pepper. Simple fare but only works if all of the ingredients are fresh. We often order from here when visiting family in Batavia. They're definitely in my top 3 favorite sandwiches/subs of all times. The cold cuts are always sliced super thin and are so fresh. I love that they have mortadella, prosciutto, and other Italian deli meats, which most sub shops don't. The rolls are soft, airy, and not too bready. What's in the sub is the star of the show, not the bread. I would eat here all the time if I lived in Batavia. It's definitely worth a stop when you're in town! read more

I'm from New England, I don't play when it comes to subs, this place was the real deal. I got the sicilian, it was perfect. Decent food is a rare bird in Batavia, and Southside deli goes beyond decent with the quality of their subs! Perhaps it's the fact that I am a born and bred Buffalonian, but I can be quite critical and I know good food. The subs at Southside deli are AMAZING! They offer your typical sub offerings but in addition to the usual, they also have some true Italian offerings. On my last visit here, we got Italian Assorted subs for everyone, which consist of Genoa Salami, Capicola, Prosciutto and Provolone. They were toasted to perfection and had quite a good deal of meat on them considering the price of $7.20 for a large sub. It was plenty for dinner and then lunch the next day. We also got a Nuclear sub for everyone to share and try. If you like a good kick, this is definitely the sub for you! The Nuclear had prosciutto, capicola, Genoa Salami, Hot Pepper cheese and Hot pepper salad. It certainly held some heat! I would strongly recommend Southside deli if you're looking for some good eats in the Batavia area. While you're there, be sure to pick up a deli pickle and some cheese cannoli as well (they have a whole slew of Italian deserts)...you won't be disappointed! read more

There's almost nothing in the middle of nowhere, NY and thanks to Yelp I found this deli. It is embedded inside a convenience store and staffed by some friendly women. they were patient while I stood there figuring out what I wanted on my sub. I settled for a nuclear (which wasn't very nuclear at all) came on a very soft roll, with the meat sliced extremely thin, making every bite perfect. I think there was an extra charge for olives and oil which I think is weird, but hey...my sub was super delicious. read more

Stopped in for a quick sandwich Saturday at 11:00 AM and the place was busy. I had a small Royal and the Mrs. went with turkey. The meat is sliced fresh and everything was great. Ended sharing a canoli and at $1.15 well worth it. Only complaint is its all carry out! read more

He is good about cleanliness for the most part but the gloves are what made me stop going. They reuse the same pair and keep them in their apron pockets. Some will blow into the gloves to put them on. read more

Subs were loaded with meat & cheese. Bread was a bit doughy but seemed fresh. Portion size was ample. We also grabbed a mini cannoli for dessert (it was delish). Old fashioned neighborhood deli with great subs -plenty of meat - and a nice selection of Italian cookies,cannolis and other yummy desserts. So nice to still see the old style delicatessens still around. . The Italian sub was delicious with freshly cuts meats. read more

They have punch-card program to earn free subs. You can get small or large subs, or have it made on a round roll, on bread, or wrap. This deli has the BEST customer service! They are so efficient and I never have to wait to order. Once I order though, it always takes forever to get my sandwich. I ordered today and the phone rang after I placed my order. I waited and watched them make the sandwiches for the phone order before mine. And waited. And waited. This place hasn't changed in 20 yrs. I loved their subs when I was 10 and still now in my thirties.

Every now and then, I'll grab an order of a large sub. The price is reasonable, and it usually ends up being lunch/dinner. Lots of meat, and delicious. I think the only downside is when I call in an order vs. coming in and ordering. When I call in an order from work and have to go pick it up during my lunch hour, I'm told it will take 20 minutes. I'll wait 30 minutes before driving over and every single time, it wasn't made yet and I end up waiting as long as ten minutes. However, if I walk in and place an order, it's done right right away. So, I just end up not ordering over the phone any more. :) read more

I was stuck in Batavia overnight on business. I found this place on Yelp. Ordered the hot grilled roast beef sandwhich. It was just about the best sandwhich I ever tasted. That's probably why their was a constant stream of customers in and out of this place even at 8 PM on a Thursday. Great subs. read more
