    Battered fish fry
    Rebecca D.

Typical diner... quick service but only ok food. The coffee tasted like it had been sitting out for HOURS. The battered fish fry seemed to be cooked a little too "well done" for our liking. The crab meat filling on the broiled haddock was very spicy and did not like it... the coleslaw also had relish in it which was absolutely repulsive, and the tartar tasted straight from a can. Only plus was our server was very sweet. Will not be back.

This quintessential diner is a remnant of a disappearing past. For almost 100 years, weary travelers, and Town folks have been coming to this establishment for food and camaraderie. The waitresses know the customers and many customers know each other. Plenty of regulars at the Miss Batavia diner. Also first timers and occasional travelers like my wife and me who make it in maybe once or twice a year when we pass through Genesee County to or from another destination. The waitresses are wonderful, truly friendly and authentically looking to please. The menu is diverse enough, and the food is good. The coffee cups never reach empty. The place has gotten significantly more expensive in the last seven or eight years. Dinner for two used to cost about $25. Dinner tonight with Tip cost us $50. Private parking lot in the back. And they decorate for all the holidays, including Halloween. They are open for business until 9:00 PM every night, and they serve breakfast selections during all hours.

Another fantastic Batavia eats spot that never once disappointed. Great food, great prices, amazing people, an easy choice for breakfast, lunch, or dinner whenever you are in Batavia.

Driving back from Sonneburg Gardens, my mom and I dediced to take the scenic; non thurway route back and stopped at this no-frills diner. This diner as you walked in the front entrance; took you back into the 50s with style of a juke box, along with older style tables. The restaurant had silver x's on the tables to indicate for proper 6 ft social distancing on where not to sit. The tables , chairs or booth seats were cleaned in between customers. The staff were extremly friendly, kinda reminded me of " Cheers", as some of the regulars chatted away with each other and the waitresses. The owners were present in the restaurant and supberb overall of service provided. The menu offered a wide selection for any customers stomach. Breakfast was offered all day, lunch, and dinner. My mom and I both ended up ordering brolied scallops, choice of potato, soup or salad. Be sure to check this place out if your driving through Batavia.

Very cute old fashioned diner, (love the tables) and very clean! Our server was awesome too. A great menu with so many choices. I had to try the garbage plate which was very good but so much food! Everything was good and I plan to come back. Heard their fried chicken was delicious!

All covid precautions were taken during this dine in experience. The waitress was kind and attentive. I've never had a country fried steak so I opted for one of their specials and it didn't disappoint. The steak was pounded tender and had a good mix of moist on the inside and crisp on the outside. The sausage gravy on top was also delicious. My over easy eggs were perfectly done.

Stopped by Miss Batavia's for breakfast as I drove through the area. The food and service were both good. The menu was typical diner food. I didn't really see anything on the menu that was a must get, however I was satisfied with my meal and experience.

Service was really good and caring. Food 2as much better than I expected except for the fries being on the same plate as my garbage plate. I know it's silly but I like my fries separate lol. The wife loved her food. Very filling and worth the money. We will definitely go again. :-)

The food came out extremely slow. We waited for 45 minutes, for a table of 5. There were only a few people there at the time. She offered to box up the food since we spent so much time waiting we had to leave. The next problem was our food was very inconsistent. My sister had the junk plate and my son had the junk fries and they both loved their food. My sister said it was one of the better "garbage plate" type meals she's had. Me and my mom not as good. My mom said the soup was lacking any flavor and was not good at all. The main problem with our meals was we both had the egg and olive sandwich. Tasted good until at different times we both bit into egg shells. Happened more than once to the point I didn't want to eat anymore because I didn't know to expect an eggshell. Therefore both me and my mom could not finish our meals. I posted a pic so you can see it's a big piece of shell.

Service was a little off. She got my order wrong then disappeared. As a result I really couldn't do anything about it. Also, she gave me my coffee, cream, and sugar. But she didn't give me anything to stir it with (again disappearing). She was a young girl so I'll mark it off to inexperience. If I was in the area, I would go back.

When we walked in, another customer was raving about the food and telling us how much we'd enjoy it, which honestly made me feel a lot better about trying somewhere new in an unfamiliar area. The vibe is like a bar turned restaurant, dark and a little moody but not off-putting. My mom even got a cutesy leprechaun margarita, which made her smile. We started with 10 mild wings for the table, my sister got a Caesar salad and said the dressing tasted homemade, and this is where I tried French onion soup for the first time. It was okay, just really salty. My mom ended up finishing it, but I did like that the cheese layer wasn't too heavy. I'm still on the hunt for a French onion that really does it for me. I didn't get pictures of the mains, but my mom and I both got steak, I had mashed potatoes and she got a baked potato. My sister got the fettuccine alfredo and marveled at the flavor. She kept saying you can tell it's a local spot and not a chain just by the care put into it. My steak was good, nothing crazy but you really can't go wrong. The mashed potatoes were a little bland but still edible. My mom loved her meal and finished everything, while my sister and I both had leftovers. The only downside was the service. Our waitress wasn't very friendly, kind of impatient and a little passive aggressive, like we were bothering her just by being there. Given the lack of diversity in the area, it didn't completely surprise me, but it was still noticeable. We didn't let it ruin the night though. Overall we still enjoyed it and I'd go back if I'm ever in Batavia again. Reasonable prices, solid food. Taking everything into account, I'd give it a 6.9/10.

Oh how the mighty have fallen! I remember when this restaurant was opened by "Alex" and it was…read morefantastic. I knew Alex by mutual acquaintance and growing up in the same small town. He was a professional restaurateur who was paid to sit with celebrities at the posh places he worked in South Florida in the 70s. Whatever else is said, the man had high standards in food and dining experience. When he opened, and for years after the place was always packed and very popular. The food was high quality and your meal came with 2 sides, salad, hot bread and nice presentation at a reasonable price. Alex left the business several years ago and the current owner has run it for some time. Today was my first time back in several years. The outside looks dated and needs a refresh. I almost thought it was closed. It was 2:30pm on Saturday before Mother's Day and almost empty. I don't recall it ever not being full of people waiting at the bar for a table. Until today. The decor is ok although I don't care for the fringe lamps directly over your head. I was going to get ribs but decided on 10 oz prime rib ($32.00) comes with 1 side (I chose baked potato - only sour cream and butter is offered). No salad unless you pay extra! The warm bread was fine with two kinds of butter. My companion had the Kids spaghetti $(8.99). My prime rib came out and it looked about half the normal thickness it should be and in a puddle of juice. Even the server commented about why the kitchen did that. And it was warm, at best. No horseradish or other condiments were offered. No garnish on the plate. Just a thin slab of meat. The juice should have been in a separate cup. But the small baked potato was steaming hot! My companion had a giant pile of spaghetti with about a 1/4 cup of sauce on top! Too little for the mound of spaghetti. And it looked like cheap jar sauce and no meatballs. She didn't mind but I wasn't thrilled. And her fountain drink did not come with the meal ($3.99)! I had a lavender lemon drop martini that was ok. ($10). Ultimately the food is mediocre and it feels like they are cutting corners to keep prices down. But that means it's no longer the special place it used to be. Sad.

We arrived close to noon on Black Friday 2025 and were able to score a parking spot in front, right at the main entrance. We walked in and were quickly seated in a booth near the front of the restaurant. I'll admit, we were both a little cold sitting there but we were bundled up pretty well. The interior is similar to any other Denny's - nothing fancy, but fairly clean, quiet, and spacious, with some music playing over speakers but just loud enough to hear it. Our waitress was an incredibly pleasant woman, so nice! That's something I truly appreciate at this Denny's - the staff are very friendly and warm. Once we placed our orders, it was pretty quick turnaround, maybe 15 minutes or so and our breakfast was in front of us. I typically make it to Denny's on Black Friday, so I had to get my tried-and-true meal, the Grand Slamwich, which is two scrambled eggs, all-pork sausage, Applewood-smoked bacon, ham, American cheese between two slices of golden-grilled sourdough with a maple spice spread, served with a side of crispy hash browns. Looking up comfort in the dictionary, a picture of this sandwich should be there! haha Every bite is packed with flavor and the maple spice spread adds a little kick that's not overly spicy, more there to add another depth of flavor to the sandwich. The portion size is great with the side of hash browns to fuel me up for the rest of the day. Once again, Denny's comes through serving up a friendly experience and a great breakfast! We're looking forward to coming back next Black Friday!

Certainly not her fault. But service was painfully slow despite her best efforts. The people who work there are very nice, the building is kept clean, the restrooms, well stocked and sanitary.
