What a cute little diner! I visited during Halloween and they had a ton of decor without looking gaudy or overdone, simply festive. From what I understand from local friends this is the norm for each holiday! The service was great, sweet older lady, who seemed to know some of the regulars, and was attentive without being overbearing. The food was good. Typical diner fare, my friend got breakfast which looked good and she enjoyed. I opted for the french dip sandwich. It was good. Missing the "dip" which I was disappointed in, but smothered in lots of cheese and a good size. Prices seemed reasonable in terms of other places you go out to eat at these days. Had lunch today with my husband and a friend. The grilled prime rib sandwich was on the specials list. Sounded like a fancied up french dip minus the au jus. All 3 if us ordered it. Looked great when it arrived, after a couple of grizzly fatty bites I opened the half I was eating and found it was nothing but a big glob of fat, I should have taken a picture. I showed the waitress and her response was "That's what you get when you order prime rib". Only a blind cook would serv4e this, sadly I paid 18 dollars for half a sandwich that I couldn't even eat, it's in a doggie bag. My husband's was ok but our friend's also was grossly fatty, strangely not an issue for her. Typical diner... quick service but only ok food. The coffee tasted like it had been sitting out for HOURS. The battered fish fry seemed to be cooked a little too "well done" for our liking. The crab meat filling on the broiled haddock was very spicy and did not like it... the coleslaw also had relish in it which was absolutely repulsive, and the tartar tasted straight from a can. This quintessential diner is a remnant of a disappearing past. For almost 100 years, weary travelers, and Town folks have been coming to this establishment for food and camaraderie. The waitresses know the customers and many customers know each other. Plenty of regulars at the Miss Batavia diner. Also first timers and occasional travelers like my wife and me who make it in maybe once or twice a year when we pass through Genesee County to or from another destination. The waitresses are wonderful, truly friendly and authentically looking to please. The menu is diverse enough, and the food is good. The coffee cups never reach empty. The place has gotten significantly more expensive in the last seven or eight years. Dinner for two used to cost about $25. Dinner tonight with Tip cost us $50. Private parking lot in the back. And they decorate for all the holidays, including Halloween. They are open for business until 9:00 PM every night, and they serve breakfast selections during all hours. read more

Driving back from Sonneburg Gardens, my mom and I dediced to take the scenic; non thurway route back and stopped at this no-frills diner. This diner as you walked in the front entrance; took you back into the 50s with style of a juke box, along with older style tables. The restaurant had silver x's on the tables to indicate for proper 6 ft social distancing on where not to sit. The tables , chairs or booth seats were cleaned in between customers. The staff were extremly friendly, kinda reminded me of " Cheers", as some of the regulars chatted away with each other and the waitresses. The owners were present in the restaurant and supberb overall of service provided. The menu offered a wide selection for any customers stomach. Breakfast was offered all day, lunch, and dinner. My mom and I both ended up ordering brolied scallops, choice of potato, soup or salad. Be sure to check this place out if your driving through Batavia. read more

All covid precautions were taken during this dine in experience. The waitress was kind and attentive. I've never had a country fried steak so I opted for one of their specials and it didn't disappoint. The steak was pounded tender and had a good mix of moist on the inside and crisp on the outside. Food was awful, service was fine I asked for a moist omelet it was dry as a desert they remade it it was ok, but the hash browns were disgusting dry and also burnt we ask for crispy farthest from being crispy, they were just dried and burnt. Ordered breakfasts for a work meeting. Picked up about ten breakfasts, all packaged nicely. It was impressive, even after being transported the food was really delicious. Over-easy eggs were the perfect level of runny. French toast was exactly what you would want from a diner. Not too bready, nice flavor, and tender. BEST BACON IN BATAVIA - I do not normally give reviews but I think my several visits to Miss Batavia may be of value: over the last year I have had the opportunity to eat at several of the restaurants (non-national chain) in Batavia and the surrounding region. The most important thing I look for in any restaurant is do they use healthy, high quality ingredients prepared well. My typical order is eggs, bacon, with sour doe toast and coffee. They order their bacon thick sliced and it is always prepared perfectly. It is by far BBB (The Best Bacon in Batavia). The eggs are clearly cooked in butter with a rich buttery taste and the toast always has a generous amount of butter. The coffee is always excellent. I am able to order this any time of day as I often do. I can directly compare this meal to several other area restaurants and Miss Batavia is clearly the best. read more

It's a diner with good and inexpensive grub. It doesn't make me jump up and shout, but it's a fine place to find yourself on a cold morning in Batavia. Other reviewers (on other sites) complained about the service. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. It was fine service. They were quick to take our order and quick to deliver our food, yet they didn't rush us when we lingered a while. I came here for the first time since the change of ownership. The food was actually pretty good overall. I learned the current owner makes everything from scratch, and actually went to culinary school. My main beef is the booths are rather tight. I would like them to adjust some of the booths so they don't squeeze their occupants; otherwise, a good experience, and I will be back. read more

Wife and I stopped while out running to Buffalo. Prices were reasonable, as were portions. Menu had decent diner variety as well. Food was maybe average. Our service was absolutely non-existent. The obvious local regulars got lots of service and smiles, which I would expect. We were nearly invisible in a place with three guest tables. Took 10 minutes for the servers to work out whose table we were at and come take drink orders. The drinks took another 10 minutes while both servers quite seriously vanished from the floor. A server took our rather simple order and never came back to refill drinks or talk to us. It took nearly 30 minutes for a hamburger and hot beef sandwich to arrive. No contact from server, only one table ordered before us. Servers were socializing with the local across the room, then sat down to count receipts and tips. We paid nearly $3 for pop and the only refill I got was when I walked over to the counter and asked for it. There over an hour. ... server came to table only once after food arrived to deliver check. Food order was not correct even after we sent it back as soon as it came to table, BTW, but we were done fighting to be seen. Locals and regulars will likely get better service than we had. I will not go back as my time and money are more valuable than taking the risk for food that's not impressive. read more

While the people and service is good, the food is pretty bland at best. I just got a Greek salad, it was all iceberg lettuce and the lettuce was wilted and stale. The hard-bolied egg on the salad tasted 5 days old. Find another diner. read more

After giving this restaurant a negative review on Facebook because I'm an elderly gentleman with a service dog I decided to repost her comment here: "Edward my name is Danielle Engel and I am the owner of Miss Batavia Diner and prior to buying the diner I was a nurse for 17 years and have been around and actually toke part in the training of numerous service dogs, so I am very well aware of all rules of service animals. I understand Angela (your waitress) did question you about your dog as she had never had the pleasure of dealing with one of these beautiful dogs who I have personally seen change the quality of life for so many people. Her questions I feel should not have been offensive as many people are not familiar with the rules when it comes to this as you should be aware of because during the training process this would have been explained to you that this may happen and how to handle the situation when a person or persons has no knowledge of your service animal. Instead you chose to be sarcastic and make a comment about going across the street to Mcdonalds, you then argued that peanut butter was .25 cents and wanted to know if the butter on your toast was free. I sir would like to know where you grocery shop as when you buy your bread to make toast they obviously give you free peanut butter so I would love to shop there also. You complained the food was cold and then Sir told my waitress when she noticed your service dog standing on the booth next to you licking the top of the table (which I just watched on camera as we have cameras for the safety of my staff and my family) you told her that my tables were not regulation height because the dog wouldn't be able to reach them to lick them if they were the correct height. I do not know if your dog was once trained to be a service dog and because you have not continued to follow the rules day to day for the continued support for yourself and the dog but Sir I assure that it all of my years I have never had a service dog that was trained stand on the booth and lick my tables. So please DO NOT put a review up that makes it look like we are against service animals as that is extremely offensive to me as a business owner and nurse. We have service animals in the diner often and they are WELCOME WITH OPEN ARMS." All misleading statements by the owner. read more
