Love the home-cooked food. The Fatboy burger on a grilled cheese sandwich is amazing!

I went to Medina tonight to take in the Blues concert series in the park. While there, we decided to stop at Rudy's before heading down. An old mom and pop diner that seems to have been there forever. There's a parking lot across the street and parking was easy in general. It wasn't too crowded but people were coming and going. We sat at a table and given menus. A menu board out front offered root beer floats so I ordered one. Haven't had one in years! It was delicious and came with an extra side of root beer to add as you drank it. A bigger menu than expected! Nothing crazy or unusual and I ordered a Pittsburgh salad. Regular iceberg salad mix with a few tomatoes, onions, French fries, a hard boiled egg that was discolored from over cooking and some rather chewy steak (sirloin). The dressing came in a sealed soufflé cup. The waitress was nice and nothing was awful but it could have been so much nicer if a little care was put into the thought and preparation. Bathroom was a little beat up and smelled. Based on the locals, I may have missed the mark. I'd go back and try a melt or their enormous hamburger challenge. Cute diner with a 50's theme decor. Located in the heart of Medina. I had the haddock fish sandwich with homemade chicken soup. Fish was cooked perfectly. Flakey and not dry. Chicken noodle soup was delicious. Jennifer our server was friendly and very attentive. read more

Re-visited Rudy's June 6, 2026 with an updated review. Ambiance was casual, relaxed. Staff were pleasant. I'm very pleased with the service I received. I ordered the Summer Harvest Penne with mushrooms added. Very tasty, chicken was flavorful and tender, and pasta was perfectly cooked and was a good sized portion. Friendly and fast service. Bigger menu than I would've thought for a diner/cafe. We brought our grandkids and only came for ice cream, and it did not disappoint. Large servings in traditional style glass dishes. And it was very reasonably priced! We had a great time. For my fellow vegans: there wasn't anything vegan on the menu, and we were just there for ice cream, so I had iced tea (I'm vegan). They didn't even charge for the iced tea. Not a criticism, just a heads up. Take your grandkids here for great old fashioned ice cream! read more

We went to Rudy's on Saturday 5/17 and it was our first time there. Safe to say it will not be our last!! Our experience was amazing! Our waitress Skigh (yes I spelled that right!) was superb!! So sweet!! She let us know that they give away a free scoop of ice cream with every adult meal on Saturdays from 11-7! And the food.....OMG! We were a party of 3 and we got the Ziti pasta, chicken fingers/fries and a chicken fajita wrap with fries!! It was all soo good!! Best chicken tenders I've had in a long time!! (And I normally don't like chicken tenders) The place is very quiet and mellow. I love the decor!! I wanted to take the hotdog guy home with me! A very nice place to eat. We ate breakfast at this mainstay and it was great. Our young server did a great job for our party of 6. All the local customers stared us up and down as we wound through to our table, but it was a welcoming atmosphere with decor that takes you back in time. They even serve milk shakes at breakfast!!! read more

Good diner food minutes from the polar express. I ordered a prime rib sandwich special which was huge! Roll was soft and the prime rib was tasty. Was a little over cooked but I imagine the masses like it that way over a rare steak. Missy liked the gnocchi and meatballs, the Texas toast that came with was also massive. Kids liked their burger and French toast sticks. Extensive menu with a lot of specials. The dessert menu looked good with some homemade pies listed. Probably won't venture all the way to Medina to go again would would stop in if I was in the area again. read more

Rudy's is a small town restaurant like the famed Chatterbox from Prairie Home Companion. They have tables, booths, or counter service and they are as friendly as you would expect in this beautiful small town. I had the French toast and my partner had the eggs over easy. Both of us had bacon as an extra. The eggs came with potatoes and toast. We both had coffee which was also excellent. The ambiance was small town quaint and clean. If you are traveling through this part of New York, it would be good to stop at this fine local gem. read more

Rudy's, home of the Mojo burger is a local diner that super popular to the area. I've been coming here for a few years now with my parents, who live in Lockport. We make the drive out here every few months for lunch or dinner and it's totally worth it. My dad and brother always get the Mojo burgers. It's a one pound burger, and when you finish it you get your name on the way! Finish it multiple times and they will add a tally mark next to your name each time. It makes for pretty neat decor and a fun tradition! All of the food here is very good, diner style eats. I usually get a sourdough melt, which is cut into three pieces it's so generously sized! They have your classic diner fare and then always a hand written page of about 40 daily specials included in each menu. It's so hard to choose, there are so many options!! They also have a great ice cream selection, with specialty sundaes perfectly named- Pink Cadillac, Alley-Oop, etc. If you are looking for a cute local diner, this is your place! read more

I was bicycling from Rochester to Buffalo in a day and Medina is pretty well halfway between the two so I got off the trail to look for something to eat and drink, and a respite from the heat. After riding around and not finding anything I stumbled on Rudy's. All I had was a delicious milkshake and glass of water, but the staff was very friendly, and the place was quite crowded with people you could tell were regulars. If I'm every back in Medina I'll be sure to stop here. read more

Kind of kitschy cute place pretty much out in the middle of nowhere. It's the kind of place where it seems like everybody knows everybody... and those who are not known stand out (not in a good way). The menu is complete with all kinds of sandwiches and salads and burgers and entrees. I was excited when I saw that a "Sloppy Joe" was one of the specials. Sadly, "Manwich" is much better. The staff are rudies, the customers are rudies, and the food is insulting. Okay, I'm just kidding, they were fairly friendly, but my food did nothing for me, and honestly tasted like it was out of my freezer or something. I ordered one of my go-to dishes which was the chicken. We have a couple of decent ones over in Akron, NY, but this one did nothing for me. It wasn't juicy, it wasn't seasoned, the gravy was cold and the mash and salad were just... bad. Salad didn't taste fresh at all which is a big no no. Sorry guys. It's a family owned place so I'll give it a 3 for moral support but I wouldn't come back here, most likely. The prices weren't dirt cheap either. For a little town like Medina, paying 10 or more for a meal at a little diner seems a little steep. Medina has three incredible places to eat, but my next experience here (if there is one) is going to have to be miles better than the first in order for me to raise the star rating and become a regular. read more

Outside looks like a 50's Ice cream joint with cars parked all around it. No curb service though. Inside the theme is followed through with neon in the windows and photos on the walls. Busy in waves breakfast, lunch and early dinner. Service is above average with daily specials that cover a two column page of hand written entrees with a big variety. I'm a big eater. I had a huge Greek chicken over rice with pita bread ($7) that I could hardly finish. Yes the do serve ice cream, but I was so full. Come hungry or your dog will be stuffed. read more

This place is pretty much out in the rural part of Western New York and is a cute place sitting in a cute Mayberry like town. In fact I thought I saw Floyd the Barber sipping coffee at the counter. The young server was just excellent and positive and the prices were amazing. The Driscoll burger was good but a bit on the well done side for me and the fries were very good. Overall, a good meal. We've been visiting Medina at least once a year for 15 years. Rudy's is always one of our first stops. The food is superb, the prices are unbeatable, and the service is very friendly and fast. My kids love the menu and I enjoy the daily specials that are handwritten. My kids love visiting here and checking out the walls that are covered with names of patrons who finished a large burger plates, (favorite activity: find a relative!) My go-to recommendation is Reuben and any sourdough melts. My husband loves the turkey club sandwich. The portions are large and delicious. So this is a small place where the locals come in Medina, you can tell that immediately. I wasn't expecting too much It's a sit wherever you want type of place. We sat at a booth. The restaurant is pretty cool, it looks like an old school diner. We got menus and a full page of specials for the day. There was so much to choose from. I went with a chicken tender melt, the server said its a good sandwich so I had to. I also got french onion soup. My boyfriend got some crazy plate of waffle fries with chicken tenders and bacon on top. It looked beautiful. My sandwich was actually really good. It was so big too! I really enjoyed coming here. The food and the atmosphere was great. If I ever find myself in Medina again I would stop here. read more

My girlfriend and I had no idea what we wanted to do this afternoon so we ended up just going for a long drive and somehow ended up passing through Medina while in search of something to eat. From the outside Rudy's looks just like any other Diner style establishment, but when you walk inside you see a mixture of modern diner with the back half being similar to a 50s/60s era diner. The best part of Ruby's comes when they hand you a menu and you see what this place is all about! This place offers everything you would expect from a diner with the addition of a bunch of custom sour dough style melts, special burgers, and then there is what I ordered, it consisted of boneless wings covered in southern honey dressing topped with sour cream, bacon bits, cheese, and on the bottom were the zesty waffle fries. I was having trouble deciding what to order and this was what our waitress recommended, and for that I thank her. This meal was absolutely perfect (not at all healthy, but perfect). I have zero bad things to say about Rudy's. It actually upsets me that I almost ate somewhere else. Overall, this place deserves nothing shy of 5 stars! read more

I like Rudy's but a couple things: the Spanish rice needed to be seasoned differently (too much paprika). And the pies are a bit over-priced. At the county fair a piece of pie with ice cream was about the same price as just the pie at Rudy's. It can be busy and a little wait. There are perhaps too many specials listed on the daily sheet. But it's a good place to eat. Maybe if in doubt, like with Spanish rice, keep with the familiar plates. read more

Last few times we have been the food had not been that great. I ordered a salad with grilled chicken and the chicken was slimy. Not fresh cooked. Just iceberg lettuce, which was starting to turn brown. What upsets me about this is not just the cook that is putting this together but the waitress that sets it in front of you. My husbands patty melt type sandwich had all sorts of grease dripping off of it. Wait staff not as friendly as the usually are, running around like they ate extremely busy while others are just standing around. On a brighter note desserts are huge and pretty good. Rudy's is just as you'd expect for a small town diner: friendly service and great food. What I didn't expect is that I would have an amazing chicken souvlaki over rice! On the menu there are lots of sandwiches and typical diner food. I took a risk on the chicken souvlaki and I will never regret it. The rice was cooked perfectly, the chicken was so full of herbed lemon flavor, and there were plenty of peppers, onions, and feta cheese! To top our meal off we had a piece of coconut cream pie. The pie was great with a wonderfully flaky crust and light custard filling. What a great place! read more

Ate here the other night and I wasn't real impressed with the food. I had the meatloaf sandwich and mashed potatoes w gravy. Gravy was very salty and there's no way the potatoes are homemade. The meatloaf was ok i wouldn't order it again. My companion had the philly steak sub and again it was ok. We ordered and literally the food was at our table in about 5 minutes. Some maybe excited about that but to me that was way too fast for anything be be truly made to order and homemade. I had a piece of pineapple sour cream pie and that seemed homemade and was good. The staff is super friendly and nice. I recommend this place for dessert and maybe I would go again to try a different dinner. Just disappointing that in a local small diner you would expect everything to be fresh and homemade and it certainly was not. read more
