Ever since Bent's Opera House opened, I've been curious and wanted a reason to try Harvest for dinner. The opportunity finally presented itself and, overall, it was a really nice experience! Three of us had made reservations for 6pm on a Thursday and when we arrived, there were zero issues. Parking for Harvest is primarily street parking but there are smaller parking lots nearby. The interior comes across fancy, modern, with nice views of Main St. and as you walk in to the dining room, the open-kitchen to our left and a warmly lit, nicely stocked bar to our right. We were seated at a table towards the middle of the dining room. At 6pm, most tables were empty but when we were leaving there were a good amount of people at both the bar and seated in the dining room, so it seems like people tend to come for a later meal. Our waitress came over and poured us waters and provided drink and food menus. This was a first for me - the menus lit up! Our waitress though was incredibly courteous and personable, she did a fantastic job checking on us. To kick the evening off, I ordered their Honey Hibiscus cocktail, which is mezcal, Grand Marnier, hibiscus, ginger, honey, cinnamon, lime, and fee foam. This was a nicely balanced cocktail with a more floral, fruity flavor. With the open kitchen concept, it was neat to see the chef and cooks working on our meals as we relaxed, talked, and munched on some warmed focaccia-like bread with a freshly made balsamic, olive oil, herb dip. The bread was so soft with the perfect amount of chew on the crust/exterior, and served warm. For dinner, I ordered Pappardelle Mornay and added (perfectly grilled) chicken breast for a few more dollars, which is simply pappardelle pasta in a creamy cheese mornay. Our waitress crushed some black pepper atop my dish before I started in. This was excellent - The pasta itself tasted so fresh, the cheese mornay was indeed very creamy, and the grilled chicken breast was cooked, seasoned, cut, and portioned perfectly. I am really glad I added the chicken breast to this dish as I'm not sure the pasta itself would've filled me up. I'd definitely order this again! To wrap up our meal, since it was Thursday, there's a "1/2 off Nightcaps" special, so each of us enjoyed a cold foam espresso martini afterward, which is coffee-infused vodka, Nue vodka, FAIR Café liqueur, dark crème de cacao, Steamworks espresso, chocolate bitters, vanilla syrup, and topped with an infused cold foam, which we went with the Frangelico Hazelnut cold foam, and a few espresso beans. This was ridiculously rich and delish! Harvest is an intimate, elevated dining experience, designed to have you stay a while, relax, and enjoy a more personal meal. All of us really enjoyed our evening here and have nothing but high praise for the staff and quality food. This isn't a fast, casual, cheap sit-down meal, but it's an experience worth the higher price. I look forward to coming back! read more

In my opinion, Harvest is the nicest restaurant in the area, probably across all of Genesee & Orleans counties. It's located on 1st floor of an upscale boutique hotel in what used to be an old bank (they still display the vault). My parents have gone numerous times, but this was my first visit. The interior decor is beautiful & upscale, including comfy chairs, and tables are not packed together. The live piano music was a nice touch, though we all agreed a tad loud to support dinner conversation. From start to finish, everything was pleasing, beginning with cocktails, the Bison ribs app, root salad, & entrees. Though, nothing online indicated it was a New Years party experience with a limited menu or live music in the opera house, I was pleasantly surprised when arriving and thoroughly enjoyed the music, food, drinks ambiance and service! We came into town for a weeknight meeting and decided to finally try The Harvest. We had no reservation, and despite the place being empty it was in question if they could take a 'walk in'. The ambiance was very beautiful and classy as you might expect. We did not have time to order appetizers or cocktails and we prefer to drink water with our meals. Looking back, we were wondering if that decision was a factor in us not getting as good of service as others mention. We were served bread, but in other restaurants that serve with oil, they put the oil on you plate and grind fresh pepper and seasons over it. This did not happen. My husband had chicken French and I ordered pepper couscous and added the salmon. The food was cooked properly and was not 'bad' in anyway. It was just not good. There was no flavor in anything. The couscous was not as described. The chicken was served with a small amount of mash potatoes that he suspects were supplemented with potato flakes. No veggie side. Neither meal included a salad. The portions were small and the food plain, so it would be a good place to eat if you were a picky eater who is on a diet. We have come to expect a lot better from a pricy upscale restaurant. We won't bother them by 'walking in' again. read more

From the time you walk in the door until you leave you are greeted with a smile and the service is impeccable. The ambiance is 5 stars from the live piano player to the, set up of the bar, to the light up menus, to the coziness of each table it doesn't get better than this. The cocktails are unique and very tasty. the server is knowledgeable about the menu and doesn't have to go to get answers they are prepared. They give you time between courses but not too much. Always refilling our water glasses and clearing plates when necessary. They were out of the meatball which was the only downfall. The bison ribs were a little out of our zone, but they were delicious, and the presentation was great. They had chestnut bisque which was unique, and the flavor was surprisingly good. The pickle plate has a kick to it but the flavors are good together. Anything you get you will not be disappointed. The short rib gnocchi, beef wellington, 8oz filet were all amazing. We got dessert and coffee, and they let us stay as long as we wanted and we never felt rushed. Even as we were leaving the staff gave us a cheerful send off. My partner and I took his stepmother out for dinner at Harvest last night. I had heard so many amazing things about this place and was excited to try it. The meal and experience definitely lives up to its stellar reputation. My partner and I had filet with vegetables- the steak was cooked perfectly. His stepmom had the shortrib butternut gnocchi, which looked beautiful (and she seemed to really enjoy it!). All of the food was of the highest quality. Service was exceptional. But the one element that stole the show for me was the way the bartender prepared my old fashioned-- smoked thoroughly in a glass clouche! While I have had this type of drink prep in other cities, this may be the first drink I have had in Western New York prepared in this way-- and the smokiness was really integrated well into the drink. I would go back just to have the drink again! This may be one of the best restaurants in WNY. I'm so glad I finally got to try it, and will be going back. read more

My family and I had brunch today. The aesthetic is luxurious and modern, befitting the boutique hotel where it's located. Clean new high chairs for littles, lots of space between tables and window light. Great music and neat private rooms for small gatherings. We stayed from 10-11a. There were only two other parties that entered after we did. The food: Chicken and waffles- the waffle was soggy and had large pieces of thick bacon embedded, and the crust on the bone-in leg meat seemed like it was breaded the day before, also soggy. The waffle flavor was good but the meat was just off. I was very much looking forward to this plate but it was lack-luster. Almond croissant- delicious, flavorful, both fresh and crispy and soft on the inside. The best part of the meal. The quiche- beautiful presentation; a ham and spinach one, very dry, not much flavor, but enormous and baked as its own tartlet. Again, had high expectations that weren't really met. Breakfast potatoes- large pieces, crisped to perfection with dainty shredded cheese on top. Tea selection- all but one, caffeinated, but good quality and flavorful. Waitress- extremely accommodating and attentive, smiling and sincere. 10/10. I would love to give this place a 5star, because you can tell they're really sincere. I would love to see their food improved when I come back. read more

To celebrate my boyfriend's birthday, I made reservations. We arrived on a Saturday night. We were seated at the premier table, the booth right in front of the kitchen. I like seeing the action unfold. The kitchen was abnormally quite, but extremely fun to watch. The server was very nice and asked if there were allergies to accommodate and I told her mine. We were served with an amuse bouche. I got a gluten free item, which was delicious, while my boyfriend received the regular item that he enjoyed. When the server was reading off the specials, I thought I heard her say beef tartare. We both thought she said beef tartare, so we ordered that. When it arrived it was beet tartare. It was delicious and featured all different colors of beets, but it was a salad and not the delicious beef tartare we were drooling over. My scallop dinner was done well, and I enjoyed it. Phil liked his beef. We were too full to order dessert, but the pastry chef brought over a gluten free gorgeous and delectable creation. I liked that she came over, introduced herself and said you can't have a birthday without dessert. Phil ate most of it, and I grabbed two bites, because again, I was so incredibly full. I want to go there just for that dessert. The pastry chef explained that it was formed as the opera house and I really like her explanation. I had an old fashioned that was made well, he had one too. If you are looking for a different and new place to celebrate something, or have a great dinner, definitely make reservations and come here. You'll enjoy yourself. read more

Just wow! We're vacationing on the Erie Canal. Decided to spend the night in Medina and were pleasantly surprised by Harvest. Ambiance is outstanding and the service matched it. What can I say besides you absolutely need to try this place right now? It is worth the drive for the best meal I've had in a very long time. From start to finish everything was simply delicious. My husband and I started with a few of their summer cocktails which were very good. We moved on to our charcuterie board to share which was amazing, the cheese chosen for the board was all spectacular. The chef's amuse bouche that night was a lamb lollipop which we both loved. Then, our entrees were the filet for me and pork chop for my husband. Both out of this world good. Then we finished with crème brûlée and the Carmel cheesecake, and I think by now you're getting the theme that yes they were both outstanding. The atmosphere and service are also both top notch. Your eyes are drawn to the beautiful light fixtures and colorful flowers on each table top. The splash of color brings out even more the elegance of the dining area. To your right is the bar area and what a wonderful sight that is. This evening we sat at the chefs table, right in clear view of the Chef's prep station and kitchen area. Watching Chef Lionel and staff preparing a meal is poetry in motion. With just a few words, everyone performed their task with perfection. I was really impress on how detailed the Chef and crew were. From the preparation of the food, all the way to the plating of the food. Each part was just as important, this included the final touches of shearing fresh garnish on top of the final product. Dining here left such a impressive memory for my wife and I. That we already made plans to revisit Medina just to eat here again. Angus beef tenderloin- Mouth watering, enjoyed the seasoning of the beef. The au gratin potatoes was so good and creamy. Fall salad- The pickled veggies as well as the vinaigrette dressing was not overpowering. Honored to be the first to review this place on Yelp. We came here last night for our anniversary and didn't take pictures (sorry, living in the moment) but check out their IG. First of all, the newly renovated 1865 Bent Opera House is amazing. Atmosphere of the restaurant downstairs felt clean and classic with nicely spaced tables. We were seated in a tall white leather crescent booth which allowed us to see the chefs at work. The place was full and humming, but didn't feel full. We were treated wonderfully by the staff, our first course was a small pastry complimentary from the chef. We had the crab cakes which tasted fresh, lightly crisped. Then we split the diver scallops and NY sirloin entrees. We followed up with creme brûlée and the pastry chef came out to tell us about how she made it. Later on a tour of the building we were told she makes pastries for guests in the morning. The food was all locally sourced and tasted fresh. My favorite accompaniment were the beets and carrots with the steak. Lastly, we were gifted some chocolates from a Medina chocolate shop. The owners came by, lovely people and explained the restoration they've been doing the past few years. The individually designed hotel rooms upstairs are chic. We had to scoot back to Rochester to get our girls but next time we will stay! Could easily see this being a destination wedding spot after seeing the opera house on the third floor. PT Barnum and Buffalo Bill have performed on that stage. We had a pre game cocktail at the Shirt Factory across the street, which was a perfect way to start the night, but the cocktails and bar here look amazing as well. Sunday Brunch. Run do not walk to have quite possibly the best Brunch you will enjoy this summer. From the moment we walked in the door and cheerfully greeted by Liz seated at our lovely table where we could watch the talented chef's work their magic, we were impressed. We started off with the lavender oat milk iced latte with cold foam and a basket of warm croissants with whipped butter and homemade strawberry raspberry jam. Heaven. The Choizo Shakshouka was the best I have ever had and served with perfectly toasted focaccia. Perhaps the most memorable dish was the Short-rib Benedict which was an absolute 12/10. The sauce was so delicious and the asparagus was grilled and perfectly tender and crisp. The crispy potatoes as a side with Parmesan were cooked to perfection. Although we didn't have it this time, the brunch burger looked spectacular and we wish it was on the dinner menu! Our server Marissa was the best, nothing was missed and we were never without a refill of water, iced tea or checking on us. The service game here has been on fire! I was blown away by the preparation, detail and taste of the food served at this establishment, starting from the appetizers to the main courses. I had the roasted duck as my main course. About 20 years ago the hard working people of Niagara, Orleans and Monroe Counties joined forces and focused on Agri Tourism. The results? wineries, craft breweries, and many farms with fresh fruit and vegetables and Up Pick opportunities. I am happy to share with You that Agri Tourism in the three countries now has Crown Jewel. The Harvest Restaurant in Medina is that diamond. The Chef is from Paris and it's his job to use as many local ingredients as possible. The menu gives credit to " The Forager." His task to scour the local forests for fresh mushrooms. My Wife and myself decided to celebrate our birthdays there. Two fantastic meals. Mine was The veal sitting on top of a bed of fettuccine with mushroom sauce. God Bless the forager. Harvest is located in the completely restored Brent Opera House. I picked the Opera Cake for dessert. Verdi would have loved it. After our meal my wife and myself retired to our boutique hotel room located in The Brent Opera House. Harvest can be found at the intersection of 63 and 31. Add those numbers you get 94. I rate my Harvest experience four stars and a numerical score of 94. read more

Caveat: if you try to make the reservation online, they want your credit card and will charge $10 per person if you do not cancel 48 hours ahead! read more
