I realized I hadn't had a Northside sub in a while so we had to stop in for one while we were in Batavia. With it being a Sunday, there wasn't a lot of other places open, so I expected it to be a little busy but luckily we ordered at a good time. I called in the order for a couple of subs and they were ready in less than 20 minutes. I went over and grabbed the subs, a couple of drinks and I found some All Dressed chips on the shelf. I have only seen these in Canada before so I was shocked and happy to see them. They have a bunch of grocery items in here too which is good if you need anything last minute. We've come in before for anything from milk, sour cream, or even some condiments. Not too mention they have a deli too! The subs here are the best in Batavia. The bread is so soft. The meats and cheese are freshly cut for each sub and all of the toppings taste fresh and crisp on the sub. Truly a great sandwich all around. My first visit to North Side Deli was a good one. Ordered a sub. It was good. My 2nd visit I ordered the exact same sub made by a different person. The amount of meat was disappointing. I paid extra for sweet peppers on the sub ... not a problem. But the problem there were only 4 pieces of peppers on the entire sub. Based on my first visit ... I would like to order from them again. I just ate the work of a true artist. The level of care and attention to detail was certainly not lost on me, and its delicious-ness demands that I let the world know! I didn't get the name of the man helping me, but even though other patrons started arriving he continued to take his time with his craft. I was completely blown away with his work! Unbeknownst to the establishment, I actually came in today to settle a family debate on where to get the best sub in Batavia. There are a lot of great places in town, but I have to say unequivocally... that it is Northside Deli, because an artisan is working behind the counter. So as I have recently moved to Batavia a few weeks ago, I drive past this place on my way to work everyday. I noticed a sign outside saying Batavia's best subs. So last week I figured Id give them a try, I went in and ordered a steak and cheese sub and a BLT sub. The two women working were very nice and friendly, however that where the review goes bad. I was waiting for her to finish the subs and could not help but notice there was no sizzle of a grill for my steak sub, Curious, I looked behind the counter and seen her put a large handful of "meat" with cheese into the microwave. Ummm so yes, I had a microwaved steak sub which was so terrible even after salting it I could not eat it. I don't understand having a steak sub that was microwaved being form Buffalo where Jims and others are fresh and made of real steak. I cannot judge the cold subs but please stay away from any hot subs as they are all microwaved. read more

I am extremely surprised there are no reviews on this place. It seems like a very popular place. Close to the hospital and not far from baseball stadium. I have been in twice and both times I really enjoyed my subs. It is a cute little store, wouldn't think that they had a lot but if you walk around the store you will see they have a large variety of items. The sub sizes are 12 inches and small is 8. Most places are 12 and 6. They also have wraps and salads. The first time in there was a woman making subs and was fast and made a great sub. Bread was fresh meat was plentiful. I thought it was a good amount of mayo, my husband thought there could be more. The second time were in, subs were just as good. Very consistent. Only problem with second visit was woman at register was not the friendliest, she wasn't really rude either. She was quick and efficient. Great little local convenience store! Fair prices and good service, this place is great for getting movie day snacks and what not.

Northside is known mainly for their subs. However the make great salads too! Little known fact they also make small sandwiches, that are just smaller versions of their subs. Years ago they would have gotten 5 Stars from me and my family. Now the quality of the subs (amount of meat, ripeness of tomatoes, and quality off lettuce) is inconstant. It really depends on Who is making your food. I will say one of the reasons they got 4 stars instead of 3, is because when I tell them I am splitting a sub with my mother. They give me my mayo on the side, so there is No chance of allergy risk! Bravo read more
