I took my wedding gown here. They did an okay job. My primary complaint is that they don't actually measure you. They kind of eyeball how much needs to be taken in, resulting in a dress that had to be fixed three times the week of my Wedding and still didn't fit properly. The dress fit me slightly large to begin with. They had it for three weeks, but after I went to try it on, it still had to be taken in at the bust area. I went back two days later to pick it up. I decided to try it on, and good thing I did because they had taken it in so much that it pushed the skin of my back together forming a vertical line down the center of my back. I'm 5'5" and 135lbs, so the dress had to be very tight for that to happen and I'm pretty sure I did not gain a significant amount of weight in 2 days. They said they could take it out an inch. I went back the next day and it was still too tight. I no longer had the vertical line down the center of my back, but I did have unsightly back fat popping over the top back of the dress. When I told them this, they kept telling me I was trying to change the design of the dress, which was very annoying because I hardly think the dress was designed to give women love handles on their upper back. They said they would take it out another inch and they could have it done in an hour. I went back to try it on, and I'm pretty sure they took it out around 3 more inches to it's original state which made it way too loose again. With my wedding being the following day, and me having my rehearsal to get to, I gave up and took the dress. The day of, I wore a sticky bra underneath to fill in the space so that helped, but since the dress was still too loose, it kept sliding to the side and I had to keep adjusting it. Not really what you want to do on your wedding day, especially after paying hundreds of dollars to have it fitted properly. read more

John is absolutely amazing. His shop is clean, cute and well maintained. He is responsive, reasonably priced and provides great customer service. John puts his heart into his business and executes the alterations flawlessly. I have sent many people to him as well as my own items and he has never failed to be anything but amazing! John works with you and communicates effectively so you always are certain you are in good hands. My family, coworkers, and friends trust John with all of their tailoring needs. The location is convenient, the parking is plentiful, and service is great! Yay, I've found a place to go for alterations! I have always seen this place when I'm going somewhere in this shopping center and kept telling myself that I should take my clothes here since it's a lot more convenient than going to the mall each time, so finally I did and I now go here for my alterations. The hours during the week don't usually work with my schedule since I'm never home before 6pm but the fact that they are open on Saturdays until 6pm works with me. They do offer same day service but I usually don't expect it on a Saturday especially if I there are quite a bit of people looking for alterations or if I look in the back room and only see about 2 tailors working, but that's just me. John is usually there and granted he does forget names every so often, he still greets you with a smile and holds conversations with you about daily things in life. It doesn't feel like a hurry up, try on your clothes, mark them and get out kind of place which I have experienced before in other alteration places. The price is average. I had 4 pant suits altered plus 2 pairs of jeans and the price came out to about 70 bucks. The main thing with this place is the location, the parking situation and the service is usually pretty good. read more

I got my Winnie Couture wedding dress altered here and he did an amazing job! He knew exactly where it needed to be fixed in the bodice and even knew the sweetheart needed to be adjusted after the sides were brought in. He was also cheaper than another place I priced with a 5pt bustle instead of the 3 that they wanted to do. I utilized John's services after purchasing a wedding dress. For alterations made to the bodice and length (A-line style dress), in addition to fixing a few tears in the tulle and some loose buttons it was very reasonable (this includes cleaning and pressing). The alterations themselves were very nicely done (I wish I could recall the name of the woman who worked on the dress). My only qualms with John are those regarding communication: he comes across as being very confident and he tells you exactly what will be done for the price, however I wanted to wear my mother's headpiece and veil and we came up with a plan to have the headpiece taken in to fit my smaller head and clean up a few makeup stains on the inside of the headpiece. HOWEVER, two days before we went to collect the dress and veil, John called wanting to know if they should add a new comb (my mother and I both had no idea what that really meant and at this point we figured there was already a comb that we somehow missed) and we agreed that was just fine. When we went to get the dress, John had removed the veil from headpiece which he did not resize or clean and he suggested we use the headpiece as a decoration piece (NOT WHAT WE ORIGINALLY AGREED WOULD BE DONE). Needless to say we were very miffed about that and our impression of him changed dramatically. If you elect to work with John, who is good at the actual alterations, just know that you need to call and/or go into the shop to confirm what is going to happen and when (I've also witnessed other customers in the shop express contempt with his communication skills). read more

Horrible experience - I wanted the waist loosened on a pair of newly purchased slacks, but instead of doing so, they shortened the pant leg to the point that it was high-watering above my ankles......how does a business make that kind of mistake. Make sure you communicate with John to the fullest degree on exactly what you want altered and when your garment will be ready for pick-up. After coming here for 5 years, I am seriously considering another alterations place. read more

DON'T GO HERE! I feel sad writing such a bad review but I would NEVER want another bride to experience what I went through with John. I dropped off my wedding dress on 5/16/16. John told me it would take one month to be ready (6/17/16). I tried on my dress and instructed John exactly what he needed to do (hem the wedding dress, place cups in breast and add bustle). He assured me that everything would be perfect. I showed up on 6/17/16 and NOTHING was done. The hem was not fixed, the pads were not included and the bustle was not added. To my surprise, there was a small red stain on my BRAND NEW couture wedding dress. John told me that he would need a few more days to do the alterations. He also told me "don't worry" about the stain and proceeded to remove the red stain (probably lipstick) with rubbing alcohol. He told me everything would be fixed and ready by 6/21/16. I returned on 6/21 and to my surprise the stain had GOT WORSE. The rubbing alcohol that he used had eaten through my precious satin and the red mark was still there. I was so perplexed by this. He continued to reassure me that the stain would get better and kept rubbing it with alcohol. The stain got worse and worse. I cried for two days until the bridal store I purchased the dress from, Winnie couture, responded to my email that I wrote complaining them of this situation. They told me to bring the dress to see what they could do. I did and once tried on, they noticed that the hem was never done and dress was too long. To keep this in perspective, this was two days before I was flying out to California to get married. The bridal store said they would personally take the dress back to John and get it fixed. Because he ruined the satin on my dress, he had to sew pieces of the material together to hide the stain. I got the dress back and went to California. What I did NOT KNOW was that the hem was never done. The day of my wedding, I tripped all over my dress, the bustle he installed ripped after 20 seconds and I spent my entire wedding holding my train and carrying my dress. This man singlehandedly ruined my wedding dress and wedding night. I would NEVER recommend him to another person. What bothered me the most, when the bridal store confronted him, he LIED and said he did the hem. He also LIED to me and tried blaming me for the red stain. He refunded me back 200 dollars of the many hundred I spent on alterations. That didn't cut it given that he ruined my 4000$ dress and wedding night. I have since told the bridal store NEVER to use him. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL experience. read more

My experience with John's alteration was the most horrible experience for any bride or anyone to go through especially 2 days before my wedding. My bridal gown was from Winnie couture's. The gown was beautiful with a slight defect on the seam and the length which was 2 inches longer than it should be therefore, they gave the gown to John's to fix on their behalf (about 3 stores down from Winnie Couture's). Since I was already there, which I thought was highly regarded place because of the upscale name of Winnie Couture's brand. John (the owner) greets his guest with "hello darling" and "you will look gorgeous." He was very sweet during the consultation; therefore, I put my faith and trust in this person. However, he is nothing more than a liar, with low quality service and a scam for your money. He has already charged Winnie Couture's which was to fix the seam on the side and shorten the length. He recommended to make it a bit smaller to fit my waist (which he has to already open the dress on the side) which he charged an extra $80 and he recommended to put extra pad my bust areas and tighten on the side and in the middle of my chest (to make it look fuller), also put pads on my behind area and lastly two string so I can tie my dress on the bottom so I can dance. The grand total to be $280 on my behalf and other separate charges which Winnie Couture's will pay for. I agree and he asked me to put a deposit down, which I agree. 2 days before my wedding, I went to pick up my dress, the only thing he did was make the side smaller and sew 2 strings to tie my train so I can dance. And the length was only half completed because when you look at the dress it was the correct length...on the wedding day I discovered the inside was not fix to the correct length. I tripped over my gown because the inside was too long. And the rest that he said was completed was not even touched ...no pad or tighten up my bust area...my top area part was too big and no extra lift on my behind. There was nothing. He lied and said he did everything. I had to pay to get out so I can beg other alterations place to fix ASAP. I had to get my dress fixed somewhere else. Please do not let this liar, unethical person touch your stuff. I paid over $3000 for my dress and I could not even enjoy it on my wedding day. I cried on my wedding day because it was a nightmare. Please beware of this dishonest human being. There is a lot more with my dress nightmare. It will be too long to write. He takes advantage of brides, Winnie couture's bridal gown and everyone else. I wish I knew this beforehand. Please DO NOT LET WINNIE COUTURE MAKE YOU GO TO HIM!!! read more
