Its tough for a pizza place to satisfy all people. This place comes close. The owner Mark is a pro and cares a great deal about not just the food he makes but the people walking into his business. The man almost lives there! He loves his business and wants it to be a very friendly place. Even when he isn't in a great mood he puts on a smile and will chat with you. Not everyone will think its the best pizza in town but it is the most consistent I've ever come across. He does not ever experiment with inferior cheese or sauce. I have been going to Joey's pizzeria for several years. All of their food is great. Whether take out or eat in..yo could never go wrong. I love that they are open till 1 am and they will deliver before closing. All of their pizzas are so tasty and the sesame seed crust is wonderful. Their rolitini is wonderful, as are their pasta dishes. This is a very friendly place and service is quick and delivery is quick as well. Meatball heros and chicken cutlet heroes are awesome. Joey's Pizzzzaaa Nick & Mark Great ppl, I went there like when i was like 12 or so to celebrate a bday there ....now that i moved near by me n the wife got our pizza "crack" addition jajaja.. Honey Mustard Chicken !!! and the others are great regular slice.. calamari ... we have had pretty much all the menu take out..stay. delivery... nice staff , nice, always there , how you doing, etc.. it shows like that they are human and not like other places in and out. Plus it got sesame seed crust aahahahha prices are not bad in my head... since i read others say its pricey . only bad thing is its not good to maintain a good figure ajjajaja other then that Id have lots more of it. thats only reason you dont find me there everyday.. Delivery time is terrible!!! I have ordered pizza from Joey's for many years, probably about once a week. While the pizza is usually really good, especially if you order it with the sesame seed crust, the wait time has started to become ridiculous lately. I would say that three out of the last four times we have waited for well over an hour. In the time that I have waited for my pizza I could have physically gone there, or better yet gone to Rosa's down the block. I understand that they may be busy, but either hire more drivers or stop taking orders. Sorry to say it but you just lost a regular customer. read more

I use to think this place was great, but they keep changing the darn prices every time I call!! I was trying to place an order like we do every couple days of the week, and every time I call, they change the prices of the menu! I was trying to tell the person taking the order that we ordered the same thing night before (ordered the exact same food! receipts to prove it!) He was trying to tell me that I had an old menu...well I went to the store the following day and picked up a 'new' menu and IT WAS EXACTLY THE SAME. This place is not too bad when it's late and the options are slim. I like their trade mark sesame seed crust pizza. it's a nice added touch. What I don't like is how they can be very rude when they make a mistake on their delivery orders. I'm not sure why this is the case on deliveries because they seem to be very nice when you go visit them at their pizzeria. As of late, I usually get a side order of meatballs or chicken and they seem to bump the price up anywhere from 50 cents to a buck. I understand that a buck or even two is not going to change my lifestyle, but it seems a bit strange when they tell you, you have an old menu when you know you have the most recent menu they offer... I would have given them three stars but feel cheated, so I gave them only one. I hope they get their act together, because I would like to continue ordering from them. What a waste of $40. Specifically ordered 2 20 oz. Coke and they send Pepsi. If you do not have what is ordered then CALL THE CUSTOMER, don't just send what ever you find available!!!! Also, the Penne alla vodka with grilled chicken - the chicken was burnt to crisp it looked like octopus and the pasta was not fully cooked. $13.50 down the drained ! that plate was not edible. Mediocre pizza and what bothers me is what I saw the other night. The guy behind the counter touching the toppings and replacing them with some other topping. WHAT? This is disgraceful So I ordered a fresh pie with my buddies so I do not have recycled pizza. But the sauce was tasteless, greasy because of the cheese and the sausage tasted funny. Like many people mentioned, the sesame crust pizza is delicious. They make personal mini pies the same way, which is what we always get. They are perfect size for kids to share or for one adult to devour. Which i always do. Great price too. The regular slices are great but toppings is the way to go. Pepperoni and bacon or Hawaiian style. Dont forget to ask for the seame seeds on the crust or they will not add them. Their wings are pretty good aswell. Nice and meaty. I always loved this place! But I ordered a Grubhub and ordered a personalized size pizza and two 2 litre coca cola sodas. I received one 591ml of Pepsi instead and still charged. Joey's pizzeria is a excellent place for pizza. The honey mustard chicken slice and the bacon slice are my favorite. The sesame crust is unique to the area and puts them above the rest. Known for their sesame crust pizza created by the original owner Jack Caruana, Joey's is another mainstay pizza in Maspeth. Most in Maspeth can tell you that Rosa's pizza is probably the most popular of the pizza places in the area, but Joey's does have it's niche in uniqueness and for some, offers and advantage. First off, I'm not very big on crust so the sesames don't make me a believer but I like the people who work there and their pizza is decent. Second, they deliver unlike Rosa's which is a plus!! They certainly have a superior location to Rosa's being on the corner near a bus stop so that helps them greatly. They don't beat Rosa's on the topped pizza for example their BBQ Chicken slice doesn't compare to Rosa's in taste, amount of chicken and presentation. My real only gripe I have with them is price because they are more expensive than their competitors in the area which bugs me. Still however, they do have their unique qualities that need to be recognized so their not negatives, only differences I've observed, check them out!!! Update - The price issue is really a big problem for me as of late. I ordered a regular cheese pie and it was $18.50, which is completely ridiculous. Most pizza places charge $14 tops for the same so I can't order from them anymore just on principle and am lowering their rating just due to bad business practices, sorry... read more

i just got done eating a Sicilian pie with sausage from this place. I had ordered a round pie before from them and it was overcooked so it was awhile before I tried them again. Again was tonight. I figured if I ordered a Sicilian the crust would be thicker and therefore no problem. Wrong! The pie was so overdone and dry the crust snapped like it was a UTZ pretzel stick. It was like eating a piece of cardboard. The cheese was layered so thin the topping pulled off with one bite. The sausage had no taste whatsoever. On the plus side, there were copious amounts of pizza sauce with a good flavor. Even all that sauce could not makeup for the dryness of the pizza dough. I'm guessing they're one of those places that leave the dough drying in the Sicilian square pan before they make it. I was starving, having had no lunch today, and was looking forward to a good pizza. This was not it. Three bites in, even though being truly hungry, I called to complain. Did I mention it was $23.50 with tip it cost me $25. I explained to the woman that the pie was overdone. That they needed to cook it less since the crust was less than a half inch think. She said, 'she was sorry and that next time I should instruct them on how I want the pizza". I told her there would be no next time! Did not know I needed to instruct a pizzeria on how to cook a decent pizza! Had to throw the rest of the pizza out because no way would I even attempt a re-heat of this pizza, never mind eating it again. One star for the sauce though. read more
