there's something so special about a NYC pizzeria and I haven't felt this feeling since I was a kid. Not a boujee 6 dollar gentrified ass slice you get in Williamsburg. This is your classic pizzeria that have the red cafeteria trays, the black and silver aluminum napkin dispensers, and kitchens that haven't been remodeled since they bought the place. I was on the verge of passing out getting my nails done 3 store fronts down thinking about how badly I needed something to eat. I grew up in this area and the last time I had Maspeth Pizza was probably age 13 after school at IS 73 around the corner. I was like you know what let me try it, I'm starving. I was greeted by not one but all 3 guys standing behind the counter. The slice was warmed up in 3 mins and I paid $3.50 and was sitting down within 5 mins of walking in. Exactly what I needed in this moment. The pizza was your classic slice. Oil on the plate. Sturdy slice tho. A family of 7 sitting next to me sharing a pie and a big gallon of coke. The news was on. We've always had a great experience getting pizza from here. Whether is a regular pizza pie or something fancier. Funny that in all the times we've order pizza from here, I've never thought of writing a review. Well, it's about time!! The service is always friendly and the food taste super fresh. It appears to be a family run business , which is great in a busy city such a NYC. It is only after eating their Mariachi Pizza that it occurred to me that, they NEED a Yelp Shout out!! Omg!! This pizza has the perfect balance of grilled chicken with the right veggies (spinach) in an Alfredo sauce that was not overwhelming. The taste work wonders as a combination. I tried this place twice because I couldn't believe how bad the pizza was. First time I came here and ordered their regular slice and the slice was lacking in tomato sauce. There was barely any sauce. But hey, maybe they just had a bad day and forgot to add the sauce. I came here a few weeks after, and again, there was barely any sauce on their pizza. Even my son who absolutely loves all kinds of pizza couldn't even finish it. Also, the guy who I believe owns the shop tried to over charge me. After I corrected him the price (which was a promotion during the hour of the day- it was posted on his window), he was like oh yeah, here's your extra dollar back. Maspeth Pizza always had great pizza, I remember going there as far back as 1981 when I was 3 years old and attended the Maspeth Town Hall's Preschool Program...to this day their Sicilian is my favorite Sicilian Pizza (next to my Grandfather & Father's Sicilian of course). First I want to say the this place is nuts with its prices 2 slice and a pepperoni pinwheel bottle water 13.25. So it's 3.25 a slice and the pinwheel is 5$. Water 1.75. And if you want delivery they charge 5$ delivery. The Spanish guys behind counter were nice and were agreeing with me. There are two other pizzerias in the area joeys and Rosa I just didn't want to make a u- turn but I paid the price. Average slice is 2.50 - 2.75 pinwheel 3$. They will never see me in there ever again. I think the owner wants to rob people and most people go once and never go back. It's not like the pizza is gold like Joe's pizza in Williamsburg or in Manhattan. I'm surprised they are doing business unless the owner owns the building and doesn't care because no rent. Look at the price before buying the price are crazy for a large pie or anything you buy. Maybe you should move to Manhattan well I don't know about these days. You can get off at the R/V a stop before the Queens Center Mall and walk/take the Q58/59 down Grand ave about 1.5 miles or you can take the LIE which stops right in Maspeth. Maspeth Pizza is your small traditional pizza place (sort of across the street from CVS and like 5 blocks down the street from Stop and Shop) with pizza, calzones, garlic knots, bread sticks, and stuff like that. I wouldn't come out of your way specifically for this place but if you're in the area you should stop on by for some carb goodness. I have been a pizza aficionado for over 50 years. I moved to this neighborhood 8 years ago and the first thing I did was scope out the area for pizza. Maspeth Pizza just happens to be where I get off the Q58/59 bus on my way to my new home. And what a nice place it is. Right away I was welcomed as if I have been a regular customer. Whenever I try out a new pizza place I order a slice of Sicilian which is my favorite. Maspeth Pizza makes an awesome Sicilian pizza. Then I try a regular slice which is just as good or better. Ordered dinner tonight, Was $33.00 for 2 orders of manicotti, Garlic bread w/cheese and some soda. The manicotti was dried out, tasteless and barely edible. 100% they are heating up frozen pre-made because if they aren't they should fire the cook. Garluc bread was $6.00 which consisted of a half loaf of Italian bread with a sprinkle of garlic and the cheese was sprinkled on parmesan. The only edible part of the meal was the soda. The girl who answers the phone was rude and couldn't be bothered when my wife called up regarding the crazy tax rate they charged. 5 years ago the place was top notch , now do yourself, your wallet and your stomach a favor and eat at any other pizzeria but this one. I am located in San Diego but have someone special in NYC who had a birthday to celebrate that I wasn't able to make it to. I called up this pizza place ( since he is a local and this is his favorite ) and asked if there was anyways they could customize a pizza and write out happy bday with pepperoni, the girl on the phone asked the cook if this was doable and unfortunately it was not. She explained to me why (the pepperoni would be very likely to slide off while cooking and not stay in place) however she did say they would be able to make a heart shaped pizza instead. I was so happy because this was an even better idea than my original one. She offered to write on the box the message I had originally wanted and went above and beyond to make it look super cute. In the end, the pizza arrived at his house on time and I was told afterwards that it was absolutely delicious. This was the perfect surprise gift and I wouldn't have been able to pull it off without the awesome staff here. When I come to NYC this spring I will definitely be trying them out ! Decided to try this place...honestly...because I didn't have cash and this place delivers. My usual spot, Gino's pizza, only takes cash, and it was hot and I was running around all day. While this place was good, it's not to my liking. First off, I will start with the delivery-- the guy was an idiot, plain and simple. When he tried calling, I wasn't able to hear him from the other end of the line, and it took us three times before we were able connect. While all this was happening, I had my husband go out and get the food from the delivery guy, but the delivery guy seemed intent on ignoring my husband, meandering down the street, not anywhere near my house! My husband even walked after him and said what his order was, but since it was under my name, the delivery guy seemed to be totally confused. Finally, we got the food, and the whole thing was mediocre. Garlic knots-- no garlic chunks or oil or flavor. Maybe some garlic powder and parsley. Just a really doughy type of roll. Plain pizza pie-- decent flavor, but it was a lot thicker and more bread to cheese/sauce ratio. So it didn't feel like pizza, but more so bread with some sauce and cheese dabbled on. Primavera Mini-pie -- this has the crispiest crust, but that's the only plus to it. Would not be ordering from here again. read more
