best pizza in AA, hands down. Tried them in NYC and was excited to see they're in U of M AA. Kudos to whoever paid / bought their franchise to open there.

    Pie arrived all messed up.

I won't be back. I've ordered delivery and visited in person many times. It's nothing incredible but I love NY style pizza. Crisp thin crust. Delivery in the past from Joes has been great. Today I waited over an hour and a half for two pies, both of which arrived soggy and cold with messed up crust. I called twice to check on delivery, was told they were short staffed, was told they'd call back, was never apologized to or treated kindly. Delivery driver arrived and did not say sorry or anything, despite being pre-slated a $12 tip when I checked out. So not only did I tip for crap service, I paid over $80 for crappy pizza. That price & experience might be ok for others w more cash to burn. It's not ok for me. Joes was a treat for us and now I won't be back.

Paper plate sized piece of pizza.

Great score for the late nighters wanting to get their eat on to soak up the evening's beverages. The pizza isn't thick like a Chicago style it is thin crust. The slices are large as one can see compared to the paper plate. The pizzas we ate this evening were in individual slices were already made so you just walk to the counter pick and sit it was quick with friendly service. Seating is sparse at Joes there isn't a large seating area but do not let that deter you. Parking wasn't a problem and the cost is very reasonable.

No lines at this Joe's, but also just not as fresh. Of course, I visit during a time that Raising Cane has its great grand opening, which does distract and divert the queues across the street! Ate hot cheese there, toted that box of slices to the UP!

Perfect for NY pizza craving. It was around 8 pm on Friday evening so it was a bit crowded. However the service was pretty quick. There were tables both inside and outside. We liked the extra spices and flavoring that they had available at the tables. We ordered 4 slices, 2 cheese, Sicilian and veggie. They were all very good but we preferred the cheese. The Sicilian was a little too thick for our preference.

I came here after reading tons of great reviews and several people telling me to come, so I had high expectations. I stopped by around 1am and grabbed a couple slices with a girlfriend. The pizza was classic New York style and by the slice, it tasted pretty fresh, it was hot, fast, and definitely hit the spot for a late-night bite. It was very very busy too so be prepared to wait. That said, it wasn't really my style. The slice was gone in about a minute because it was so thin (and I know that's how NY style is) and while it wasn't bad by any means, it didn't blow me away either. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to get it during normal hours, but it's worth it if you're nearby and it's late!

A great pizza option near U of M campus! This shop has single slices for sale but be aware there's a $5 minimum for cards, if you only plan on getting one slice bring cash. There's a few tables inside and public restrooms. The service was quick. I got 2 slices a classic cheese and the Zingerman's cheese only available in AA. The cheese was okay but the Zingerman's cheese was fantastic! It has a sweeter flavor to it that I've never had before on pizza, would recommend trying it. If you like NY style pizza this spot is for you.

Ordered a whole pie (pepperoni, sausage, red onion) and a few slices while we waited. Everything tasted great. Not sure why, but the freshly heated slices ended up being so much more crunchy and tastier than the whole pie. They have shakers of pepper seeds, oregano, and garlic powder (warning... it looks like Parmesan). Service was very friendly and quick. Only a few tables and area along wall to eat. We went around 3pm so didn't have to worry about a lunch or dinner rush. We were able to grab a table and some of the extra seats along the wall to eat. It was on the pricey side... We had 4 premade slices (2 cheese, 2 pepperoni) and a full 3 topping pie and our bill was ~$55.

Joe's in Ann Arbor of all places

I almost fell out of my chair when I saw Joe's of NYC has an Ann Arbor location. Sometimes these 'franchises' work out like Regina's of Boston. So I gave it a try and it was excellent. The pizza isn't quite the same as Joe's in Greenwich but really really close. The delivery and online ordering were much easier to use than going to NYC. If you're a fan of NYC style pizza this a must try.

    White Pie and Caprese Pie

Caveat: At heart I'm a broke college student and I've never had a true NY slice in NY. I thought the pizzas were good. It felt light and crisp like a think crust pizza or a Chicago bar pizza. The dough was good as well, slight sour tang that I love in a good pizza dough. Service was quick and easy, ambiance felt like a take a slice and go or just stand and have a slice vibe. The only thing I'd take away might just have been the choice of the slice I had. The white pizza was very one dimensional. Just cheese. Didn't taste like a four cheese pizza or anything that would have some funky cheese to cut through the fattiness. I think having some blue cheese crumbles or having it with Mike's hot honey would have make it an 11/10 but because it didn't, it was like a 6.5-7/10. The caprese was fantastic, very fresh and the lovely tomato and red sauce really was special for me 9/10. However, as a guy that still has a broke college student mindset, I still can't get over paying $10+ on just two slices of pizza. That put it down to a 4/5 overall score.

Which is better the Cheese Pie or the Zingermans Moz Pie?

Hi, it’s personal preference. I recommend sampling both. Our cheese is our classic. Same recipe for nearly 50 years now. Our Zingerman’s fresh Mozz is very unique, and can only be had at our location in Ann Arbor.

The clientele is always older folks, and it definitely has a kind of 90s Italian restaurant vibe, but the food is great, service is legit, and the prices aren't bad for what you get. My favorites so far have been: - Rigatoni and Country Greens - Papardelle (seasonal with sausage, peas, mushrooms, pecorino) - Roasted apple and fig salad - A seasonal bruschetta thing with pears and burrata Their desserts are solid, so far we haven't had anything incredible. I wish their tiramisu was out of this world (it's our favorite), but it's not the best I've had. (Needs more espresso, was kind of dry). The chocolate mousse was good, but much more dense/thick than expected. Their cocktails are solid and they have a nice wine list, including a fun alcohol-removed sparkling wine that I've enjoyed twice now. This is becoming a staple when we just want a nice meal out since we live nearby. Good place to take family or folks from out of town if you don't want to bother booking somewhere that gets super busy or dealing with downtown parking/traffic.

My first visit was for brunch, and it completely won me over. The buffet had a wonderful variety of food, the mimosas and cocktails were delicious, and for the quality, variety, and service you get, the price point is very fair. I left thoroughly impressed. I came back for lunch excited to experience it again, and while the staff was just as warm and the environment just as great, however, this time the lunch menu didn't quite live up to my expectations. They offer salads, sandwiches, mac and cheese and similar American-style comfort food, which is totally fine, but for a restaurant of this caliber I was hoping for something a little more exciting. I ended up ordering a salad with added shrimp, which was absolutely delicious, and a pomegranate rosemary lemonade that was incredibly refreshing - perfect for a summer day-. But if you're not in the mood for sandwiches, salads, or mac and cheese, your options are pretty limited. My suggestion: keep doing everything you're doing because the hospitality and atmosphere are truly special, but consider expanding the lunch and dinner menu for those looking for a heartier or more diverse meal.
