best pizza in AA, hands down. Tried them in NYC and was excited to see they're in U of M AA. Kudos to whoever paid / bought their franchise to open there.

No lines at this Joe's, but also just not as fresh. Of course, I visit during a time that Raising Cane has its great grand opening, which does distract and divert the queues across the street! Ate hot cheese there, toted that box of slices to the UP!

Perfect for NY pizza craving. It was around 8 pm on Friday evening so it was a bit crowded. However the service was pretty quick. There were tables both inside and outside. We liked the extra spices and flavoring that they had available at the tables. We ordered 4 slices, 2 cheese, Sicilian and veggie. They were all very good but we preferred the cheese. The Sicilian was a little too thick for our preference.

I came here after reading tons of great reviews and several people telling me to come, so I had high expectations. I stopped by around 1am and grabbed a couple slices with a girlfriend. The pizza was classic New York style and by the slice, it tasted pretty fresh, it was hot, fast, and definitely hit the spot for a late-night bite. It was very very busy too so be prepared to wait. That said, it wasn't really my style. The slice was gone in about a minute because it was so thin (and I know that's how NY style is) and while it wasn't bad by any means, it didn't blow me away either. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to get it during normal hours, but it's worth it if you're nearby and it's late!

    Pie arrived all messed up.

I won't be back. I've ordered delivery and visited in person many times. It's nothing incredible but I love NY style pizza. Crisp thin crust. Delivery in the past from Joes has been great. Today I waited over an hour and a half for two pies, both of which arrived soggy and cold with messed up crust. I called twice to check on delivery, was told they were short staffed, was told they'd call back, was never apologized to or treated kindly. Delivery driver arrived and did not say sorry or anything, despite being pre-slated a $12 tip when I checked out. So not only did I tip for crap service, I paid over $80 for crappy pizza. That price & experience might be ok for others w more cash to burn. It's not ok for me. Joes was a treat for us and now I won't be back.

A great pizza option near U of M campus! This shop has single slices for sale but be aware there's a $5 minimum for cards, if you only plan on getting one slice bring cash. There's a few tables inside and public restrooms. The service was quick. I got 2 slices a classic cheese and the Zingerman's cheese only available in AA. The cheese was okay but the Zingerman's cheese was fantastic! It has a sweeter flavor to it that I've never had before on pizza, would recommend trying it. If you like NY style pizza this spot is for you.

Ordered a whole pie (pepperoni, sausage, red onion) and a few slices while we waited. Everything tasted great. Not sure why, but the freshly heated slices ended up being so much more crunchy and tastier than the whole pie. They have shakers of pepper seeds, oregano, and garlic powder (warning... it looks like Parmesan). Service was very friendly and quick. Only a few tables and area along wall to eat. We went around 3pm so didn't have to worry about a lunch or dinner rush. We were able to grab a table and some of the extra seats along the wall to eat. It was on the pricey side... We had 4 premade slices (2 cheese, 2 pepperoni) and a full 3 topping pie and our bill was ~$55.

Joe's in Ann Arbor of all places

I almost fell out of my chair when I saw Joe's of NYC has an Ann Arbor location. Sometimes these 'franchises' work out like Regina's of Boston. So I gave it a try and it was excellent. The pizza isn't quite the same as Joe's in Greenwich but really really close. The delivery and online ordering were much easier to use than going to NYC. If you're a fan of NYC style pizza this a must try.

This place was sooo good! Honestly, I had never heard for Joe's or knew about this place but my husband had it on his food bucket list and it was so worth the drive. Well actually, I had heard of it and did not know it, I guess it was featured in Spiderman 2 which I have seen several times but did not know this was the place until I finished my meal and asked/ saw the pictures on the wall. This is a fun "hole-in-the-wall" experience with a few tables and large pies on display to order. We tried quite a few. The service was good and I love that they allow you to custom order, so we got a couple white with spinach, the mozzarella with tomato and one with sausage. A fresh mozzarella, and pepperoni and a cheese. It was all good, I love the large New York thin slices. The kids both loved it, and the one child who doesn't like pizza as much loved and would totally go back, so it must be good. We had so much fun eating and taking pictures. I will definitely be back. My goal would be to order a couple whole pizzas to take home to warm and try the Zingerman's ranch, that looks so good. I did not think to try it at the time, but I did like the garlic, red pepper flakes, and oregano at the tables. I combined all of them to dip the crust, so good! What a fun experience. While I have been to New York a couple times, I do not remember getting any pizza to compare this location but I enjoyed it.

Excellent thin crust pizza. About $5 per slice. Quick service when I was there. Great location adjacent to campus.

Which is better the Cheese Pie or the Zingermans Moz Pie?

Hi, it’s personal preference. I recommend sampling both. Our cheese is our classic. Same recipe for nearly 50 years now. Our Zingerman’s fresh Mozz is very unique, and can only be had at our location in Ann Arbor.

My daughter and her now husband recently had a destination wedding. They wanted to have a party…read morebefore they left and wanted to serve wood fired pizza at the event. After looking at different caterers, we chose Pizza Replicator to cater the party of 85. We were having trouble working with the venue to allow the caterer to find a place to cook the pizzas. Max contacted the venue and worked out all the details. On the day of the event, he and his staff arrived promptly and started with the appetizers which were outstanding. Once he transitioned to pizza, the pizzas were continuously replaced until everyone had eaten. Everyone raved about the food. We couldn't be happier about hiring Max and his team and couldn't recommend him enough.

There are all kinds of pizza places…read more If Ann Arbor has a pizza style, it's thick, cheesy, and really meant for the college crowd. Detroit's pizza was conceived with auto workers in mind. In New York, slices are for folding and eating while on the go, because... well... I guess that's what capitalism does to you. Pizza Replicator is replicating none of these pizzas. Nope. It's just a Star Trek TNG inspired pizza concept where Max Sussman gets to have a little bit of fun with seasonal ingredients, dough, and some portable pizza ovens. Personally, I love to support pizza innovation. Max's pizza is about as good as it can be considering it's cooked up in the back of a coffee shop on any given Sunday. More than anything, I want Max to get a permanent home here in A2 with a legit Neapolitan oven where he can really get some better color on the bottoms of those pies. I've had a few of these so far. Italian sausage with pepperoncini, provolone, and broccoli rabe. Brussels and guanciale with aged gouda, fresh mozzarella, and garlic. Soujouk and Za'atar with onion and green zhug. Asparagus and gruyere with meyer lemon, caramelized onion, and pine nuts. Spanish Chorizo, manchego, roasted peppers. My favorite one to date was the meyer lemon. Dang, that was deliciously unexpected! But those crispy nuggets of guanciale were dynamite too! Ultimately, these are designed to be take out pies, and I'm just not a take out pizza kinda guy. Because I believe pizza is best when it's fresh hot now, I grab my pie, b-line to my parked car, and eat the pizza in the driver's seat like a savage beast. Even when I have shown up early for my scheduled pizza pick up, I have had little luck in getting super hot pies with crisp edges and well colored bottoms. Recently I learned that one can request the pizza "well done" and I am looking forward to giving that a try. But I love the culinary creativity and I am happy to keep trying Max's new pies when my Sunday schedule lines up with available pizza slots. One has to keep an eye on the Pizza Replicator Instagram page and move quickly, because these things sell out. I have gotten over my FOMO, and am happy to simply sample these pizzas when the stars align. Which, you know, is why I'm comfortable to share this with the Yelp Community. Max's efforts are hardly a secret as they were just recently covered in the food press. But yet there is no listing on Yelp?
