Heard about Hometown from some folks we met that enjoy it and live nearby. Hometown is honestly a bit out of our way, but it WAS on the way to our destination AND I was intrigued by the idea of a BLT pizza. The order was ready by the time we arrived (so yay!) and we took it over to our friends to enjoy together. I was a little bit off put by how oily and greasy the pizza was (left the box bottom pooled with grease!), but flavor-wise, pretty good. *BLT (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Mayo) pizza - I know sounds atrocious but it was tasty. Not too saucy and the bacon was good! The lettuce was a little wilty but what can I expect when it's on a hot pizza?! For a Large it was $22. I could choose from regular crust, thin crust, gluten free crust or cauliflower! *Pepperoni Pleaser (Pepperoni, Diced Pepperoni, & Pepperoni Cups) - triple pep! solid Pepperoni pizza - didn't really stand out. They do have interesting combos like a breakfast pizza, cheeseburger, but again out of the way and not the best overall value in town.

We had been wanting to give them a try, after learning about them. The Pizza was ok. Not over the top, not bad. I guess we would say Average. We ordered online and that process was easy and intuitive. The Pizza was ready at the time indicated in the online process. The interior has a few tables, but it seems this is more of a order and take with establishment. Pizza is wide-ranging in styles, flavor and offerings so IMO everyone needs to judge for themselves.

Black olive was the only topping that wasn't skimped on.

The food, service, and space are all exceptional. Hometown Pizza is better than all the chains around.

Because they've replaced them with additional delicious offerings like local pastries (donuts from Washtenaw Dairy and other bakeries like Two Songs and vegan offerings from Botanical Bakeshop) and tasty offerings like breakfast offerings like breakfast burritos and bowls, bagels, etc (big fan of the farmer's bowl). Also their chicken salad sandwich is quite good, too! I am also a HUGE HUGE fan of their barrel aged nitro cold brew. Oh man it's so good and so unique! Highly recommend if you like a really complex coffee.

Indoors their space is chill and quiet with most folks working or studying so it's a pretty relaxing environment. While many reviews focus only on the food, what stood out to me was the outstanding service, excellent food quality, and genuine hospitality from the ownership. Enzo, the owner, came out to greet guests personally and created an atmosphere that made us feel more like welcomed guests than customers dining at a restaurant. Our waitress, Emma, was also extremely helpful and attentive, guiding us through the menu and making sure we had everything we needed. As someone who takes corned beef seriously, I can honestly say theirs is among the best I've had. Enzo shared that he gets up every morning at 3 a.m. to prepare and cut the brisket himself so it is ready by 10 a.m. for brunch dishes such as skillets, omelets, Reubens, and Bennys. If you are not sure what a "Benny" is, just ask--you will be pleasantly surprised. It is rare to find a restaurant today that delivers a 10 out of 10 in every category, but Dexter Brunch House does exactly that. I highly recommend supporting this wonderful local restaurant.

I got a beet burger which comes with a side of chips unless you opt to pay a bit more for something else. The burger looked a little small when it came out, but it was surprisingly filling. It was seasoned nicely and and the sauce was great. I liked the sweetness from the beets and corn, but I could see why some people might not agree, especially if they are used to meat burgers. The only thing that was a bit annoying was that the patty kept falling apart, but otherwise, it was really nice. Overall, I would come back, especially if I was eating with someone who is vegetarian/vegan. The food is healthy, fresh, and reasonably priced.

The grilled cheese with sausage (pistachio inside) was creamy and innovative. Masala chai with a black jam and pistachio was my morning's order. The space is bright, fresh. clean. (I'm thinking of holding my office hours here in the fall, IN PERSON, over real coffee! this coffee is yummmmmmmy) From the moment I walk in the door I am greeted with friendly, knowledgeable staff. Who all know me by my first name! (and I have a difficult Spanish name). They greet me with a smile, never rush me, and take my order all the while answering any questions I might have. Since their menu is always evolving and changing, it's great that they take the time to walk through my options. So they have their standard amazing pizzas (which i first had at the farm) and their shockingly authentic pastries (even better croissants than I have had in Paris). But last week I tried their new breakfast food, and MAN! It was GOOD! the quiche, the omelet....and although I am convinced their chai is the best in Ann Arbor (it's not a premade mix of sugar and chemicals, it's the real deal) ...they now have this new line of matcha, so so good. Sarah and Kat make baristas run for cover, they are that good. And even with all that goodness, I was SHOCKED out of my mind when I had their eggplant sandwich. That thing is fire. FIRE. My family and I are big meat eaters, so when this one hit the scene, we couldn't believe how tasty it was. Even writing this review right now makes me want to go there and eat one. (I'll still keep trying their amazing ever-new menu, but this eggplant sandwich has become a standard) Also, there is this very cute small little market attached where I stop by at the end of the day to pick up freshly made bread for dinner. We love the sesame bread, but geez louise, the baguettes are addictive. Their head baker is INSANELY talented. Remember that scene in Ratatouille when the food critic gets transported to a core memory? That happens to me when I eat that bread. I have purchased goat milk soap there (its handmade by the baker's wife), hot chocolate mix, a kabocha squash, this no sugar added mango puree (which I made a no-sugar added mango torte with). They have these really cool unique products, and it really is a treat to stop by. The place is beautiful, and it is a gem to have such a high quality place to eat on this side of town. The passion that these people have comes through in their food, the products they sell, and the way they treat their community. I love Ann Arbor, and I love this cafe. (okay now i really am going to go and get that eggplant sandwich)
