Unfortunately, sometimes when I go here, the quality of the pizza just isn't as good. When it's fantastic, it's really fantastic, with plenty of sauce, cheese (vegan or normal) and toppings. But maybe up to half the time it's not as good (closer to 3 stars) when different workers are making the pizza -that's why I'm downgrading to four stars. It's also possible this is a bigger issue with only their vegan pizzas (i.e. much less vegan cheese sometimes). However, the crust has also been made underbaked a few times for me. read more

Faz pizza does not skimp on the fresh tasting veggies, has a great ratio of cheese (not sparse but not a thick greasy blanket), and crispy perfect crust. This has been my go to pizza place in Ann Arbor since I was in middle school and Faz used to hand deliver the pizzas for our parties. I loved it then and I love it now. We always call in our order and pick it up ourselves. The service is friendly and quick; the one time it took longer than normal, we were gifted some extra cookies for waiting. Another perk of calling is that gives you an option to ask if they have any deals, as they have sometimes have good deals on random days. My husband was super pleased with how clean it was when he went in the weekend after thanksgiving. The first thing he told me once he got home was that it smelled so clean he could barely smell the pizza! We will definitely be continuing to support this local business this winter!! We've tried a variety of things off their menu and have liked everything! Pizza, cheesy bread, cookies, loaded cheesy bread, cinna bread... my mouth is watering just thinking about it all. It only took me five years... but finally called in my order so I could stop by on my way home... I got the large tandoori chicken square... picked it up, got home and started to eat. While the square pizza isn't there compared to Jet's Pizza... the dough was soft and chewy, it was pleasant eating their pizza. What I expected of the pizza and what I got was different and was disappointed.... since it was tandoori chicken, I expected to find reddish colored chicken as the topping, expected to taste that tandoori flavor as I ate, but nothing like that happened... in fact, the chicken looked like grilled chicken.... it sure wasn't the tandoori chicken that I knew of..... Why did I rate it one instead of 3 or 4? As I ate half way through my pizza, found a piece of hair in the box, half exposed on the box and the other under my pizza... yeah, I stopped eating on the spot.... I just hope this isn't common finding in the box.... I'm not sure when I'll have a return visit, but I just hope next time I get a take out, it won't have another surprise inside :) read more

I was visiting last night and really wanted Mancino's, which is not the bomb but usually pretty good. So...40 minutes prior to Mancino's scheduled close time I called. No answer. I drove there, and apparently the folks decided they'd close early, which is just soooo wrong. I saw them walking around with lights dimmed as they were cleaning up! So...Hello Faz it was. This is a review of the Ann Arbor pizza joint I call "Faz Hello" Pizza...not "Hello Faz" Pizza as the new proprietors began to call it 5 or so years ago. We have been regulars here for the last 20 years...since the days when Faz himself, would answer the phone...make small talk with you...eventually take your order...thank you by your first name...and remember you the next time you called in an order. Now that is customer service! Faz, the gregarious original founder and namesake of this small pizza joint in this college town full of tomato pies, passed away some years ago however, his spirit lives on with the hundreds of pics plastered all over the walls of Faz with some of the biggest names in the world including the likes of Bill Clinton, Mohammed Ali and Robert Redford. We grabbed a couple of pies this night including one standard pepperoni and one dressed up with 'shrooms, onions and green peppers. The pizzas and the service were good but the new owners lack the charisma that made "the Faz" famous. Good classic American pizza... with a penchant for Ranch dressing. This tastes like my childhood. This isn't Italian, their regular crust isn't Chicago (though they do a deep-dish), and beverage pairings are definitely more "Coke or beer" than "chianti classico"... though that does work. The meat is halal (most noticeably: no pig), which results in some brain-teaser menu descriptions: "Beef sausage, turkey ham, onions, ...." which means: "Cow cooked like a sausage, in a long tube and sliced. Loud gobbler bird cooked in the style of cold cuts, with some sugar. Round white things from the ground." The wall is adorned with pictures of Faz next to Muhammad Ali, Spike Lee, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and local softball teams. Definitely my new go-to pizza place. read more

I ordered online and they use Eat24 aka the Yelp company to deliver their food. The estimated time was 25-35 min. but, it has been over an hour and still no food. I called and the man said that the person just left (which means another 10-15 min. at least)....but I'm still waiting. I really wish they would just switch back to a personal hire delivery driver. These companies are always late and the drivers are so rude. I do appreciate that the Eat24 app. emails me frequent coupons for $2-5 dollars off my order...kind of evens out the mandatory delivery charge of $3. Wow...the delivery person finally arrived at an hour and 20 min. later. Then he said, "Don't worry it isn't poisoned, I tasted everything". Who the heck says that when delivering food? I am definitely doing carryout from now on....that is creepy. The pizza does taste delicious! Other than that....the pizza is delicious! I love, love, love their cheesy bread. I have also tried their calzones (not my favorite) and their chicken wings (A-OK). I just love their veggie pizzas or their turkey bacon and beef pepperoni pizzas. They are healthier than the usual pork option (less fat). This isn't an artisanal pizza company. It is just regular old pizza. But, it tastes great and hits the spot. The people that work at the store are very friendly. They also have some nice online coupons. Mon. & Fri. you can order two large pizzas with 2 toppings for only $16! But, alas it seems the only way to use the coupons is to order through the online company and put up with the crummy delivery. This is really an issue and why they earned only 3 stars on this review. Went in lured by the ad for gluten free chicken pizza to learn that the crusts come from Sysco. I ordered this expensive 10 inch pie just to see. Did it deliver on the tandoori flavor? Nope. Did the crust work with the topping? (Not for me). Would I return? Definitely. The smell of the mainstream wheat based pies baking made me forget about Sysco altogether. I was transported back to the pizzarias of my Jersey youth, The specialty gluten free pie? Not so much. Dry and lackluster. Easier would be to snag a gluten free crust at a market, microwave a frozen tadoori chicken box, sprinkle with cheese and off you go. Ordered the Obama pizza and a pan sausage and pepperoni. The Obama pizza was incredible -- both tastey and a subtle but unique variation on the Hawaiian. I am an avowed pork lover, and trust me, in the context of pizza you will not notice the difference with turkey ham. The pan pizza was thick and hearty, exactly as it should be. We ordered online and they received the order and it was ready in the anticipated window. I usually don't eat pizza, but I am a Hello Faz fan! The sauce isn't too sweet, the toppings are always fresh (no canned/sub-standard crap here) and not-too-much cheese. Prices are inexpensive to boot. I have a lovely memory of the Hello Faz on Liberty: During the 2003 blackout, my husband and I were driving around through the inky black - hungry as wolves. As I looked out the window into the darkness I saw something that looked like stars - and realized it was Hello Faz Pizza. The staff had all these little tables set out on their stoop with candles in old olive-oil bottles for impromptu lighting. We decided to pull up and see what was going on. Inside the restaurant, the two cooks on staff were working like crazy - the ovens were gas-fired so they were in a frenzy to use cheese and other toppings before they got too warm. Sitting on the stoop in the dark, with the candles flickering all around, with other people, strangers brought together by the night and hunger, eating slices of just-out-of-the-oven 'za, was magical. :O) read more

Just moved into west Ann Arbor and since I'm a bachelor I'm getting very well acquainted with the local takeout joints. I felt a burning need for pizza this morning, Cottage Inn was nearby and reliable but I took a look at Yelp and found this little gem. I ordered a tandoori chicken pizza for takeout and got in the car. I waited a little while once I got there but the walls were completely covered in pictures and newspaper articles so I had something to read. The guy behind the counter seemed apologetic even though I arrived early and as soon as my order was out of the oven it was cut and handed over. I then headed home with pizza in hand, objective achieved! The verdict: absolutely excellent. The pizza basics were well covered, just enough sauce and cheese but not too much and the crust was perfect. The toppings were fresh and the chicken was excellent, just a hint of burn without being overwhelming. Also, the quality to price ratio is amazing, I paid ~$10 for a pizza that would be much more expensive at any other pizza place in town. I've found my new go-to pizza joint, good service combined with outstanding pizza and prices. read more

I find most of the delivery pizza in A2 to be shameful, but Hello Faz rises above the rest. We live close to it, so we often pick up our pizza there. However, there are late nights when we're hungry and lazy, so we'll get it delivered. The pizza always arrives under the estimated time given over the phone. Last night I got in late and hadn't had dinner yet and was way too beat to prepare something. So I ordered from Faz (they go until 3am on Fri & Sat!) and got the spinach, artichoke, and garlic pizza, and I'm drooling just thinking about it right now! The best thing about Faz's pizza is that the veggie toppings taste fresh and not processed like so many other pizza places. I don't order pizza very often, but when I do, it's almost always from Faz.
