We are originally from Detroit and were staying in Ann Arbor for a summer camp at the university of Michigan. We rolled up right around 7pm on a Thursday night and were seated immediately. We ordered 2 eight-corner pizzas but added pepperoni and mushrooms on half and then pepperoni and pineapple on the other half. It was sooooo freaking good my husband said he didn't want the meal to end. Our kids loved it and we have extras even though there were 5 of us. The only downside side is that I ordered a Greek side salad and while it was really tasty it was kind of weak (a lot of cheese but 2 olives, 1 tiny cucumber and 1 grape tomato-- so it was pretty puny). Overall I 100% recommend the pizza. read more

Was in town visit and I wanted to try the famous Detroit pizza, so I got carry out from this buddy's location per recommendation from ChatGPT. Unfortunately the pizza was awful; I've had better microwaveable Detroit pizza. Fortunately I ordered the special which included a salad and breadsticks; both of those were very mid, but atleast edible. My advice is to avoid this place at all cost and look for a place that's authentic. read more

Four of us ordered beers and margaritas, a family size house salad and two pizzas to share. Drinks were good, nice beer selection. The salad was fresh and delicious, a generous portion allowed seconds for everyone. The pizza was inexplicably horrible. The crust was bland and undercooked. There was barely enough cheese to cover the crust, forget buttery, melty and gooey as it should be. Then imagine a 12x12 pizza with a dozen nickel sized pepperonis. What a joke, the Charlie Brown Christmas tree of pizza. Dominos would be a gourmet treat compared to this disaster. read more

We were craving pizza so we decided to walk into Buddy's. The space is pretty spacious with large booth seating-- perfect place to come with friends and family. Service was fast and extremely friendly! - Greek salad: 10/10 (fantastic salad! Loved how fresh and crunchy the veggies were and the sauce was 10/10) - Sicilian pizza: 10/10 (nice crunchy veggie pizza! My fav out of the two we ordered) - Detroiter pizza : 10/10 (good pizza with lots of cheese and pepperoni) read more

When you have in mind a pizza with cheese that is tasteful and can see it with out a doubt and pieces of sausage that you can actually see and taste (green pepper had this problem too, sliced paper thin). no taste except for the tomatoes...the black olives hardly any taste, how is that? and when I order garlic on a pizza I expect to be able to taste it. So I ordered 5 additional items that cost me $11.50 extra and I barely could see or taste them. Literally the sausage is so finely crumbled up and the so lightly sprinkle it on that I literally did not taste it. Top it all off that I must have forgot to order think and got the pan I think. So basically just bread and tomatoes...the quest continues. thats not to say I didn't eat it....I just don't consider that pizza at all...at least not how I imagine it. read more

We got the super six mile pizza- 8 piece and added sausage. It is terrific with a good crunch. I thought we were gonna have leftovers, but somehow we can consumed the whole thing. We also got the medium and pasta salad for the three of us and it was a huge amount, but we somehow managed to eat it all because it's so delicious. Good beers on tap, though I was disappointed that they were out of labatts. Service was good. Restaurant is very busy so doesn't look the most clean, but the bathrooms were fine. read more

The pizza was good and we liked that every piece was a corner piece. It was a little oily though. We also got a salad and some cauliflower bites. The salad was on the salty side and we didn't love the dressing. The cauliflower bites were also quite salty. We liked the Detroit style pizza though. read more

This place is great! First visit and we sat at the bar. A friend gave us a free pizza voucher and we had to come try it. The baked meatballs are delicious. Recommended with marinara but you can get meat sauce instead. Comes with four pieces of garlic bread. It's definitely a meal. I would come back for that app with a bowl of minestrone soup and call it dinner. Wednesday is half off glasses of wine. Score!! Food and service is great. read more

We have returned for another visit since we had a great experience with the delicious pizza and not everyone had a chance to try it last time. I like that there was a gluten free option for my sister. We ordered it and they do take gluten free seriously. Although the crust is not quite the same, it was very good. My family just devoured it all. It was so yummy for my pizza lovers. We'll be back next time we're in town. Highly recommend! read more

Got takeout and it was a really good Detroit pizza. If I'm not in the mood to make my own, this will be on my list of go to places

For YEARS Ive heard the hype about Buddy's Pizza. I finally got an opportunity to check it out. Is it worth the hype? No. Maybe I got the "wrong" Pizza and others are better but I got the Detroiter and didn't care for the cheese. Jets has this place beat hands down. Felt the Pizza was overpriced for how thin it is. I suppose it's technically deep dish but again not thick like Jets for example. The Greek salad on the other hand was incredible. Five stars for that. Fresh, excellent ingredients, great dressing, nice portion. Something I wasn't bothered by but I know would be a point of contention for some people...I ordered a Vernors and wasn't told when I ordered that it's not free refills. It's not stated on the menu and is listed with the other soft drinks. Again...I wasn't too bothered (especially since I sat with an empty soda almost my entire meal without being asked if I needed another) but especially for people with kids, it would be nice to be told upfront when ordering. Regarding service, our server was nice enough once we ordered but not particularly quick or attentative and kind of started out on the wrong foot when we were sat at a dirty table and I asked if the table could be wiped down. I was told the table hadn't been sat all day and that (can't remember the words now) it wasn't dirty but something else on/with the table. Not really sure how that was relevant. If someone asks to have the table wiped it should just be wiped. It was CLEARLY dirty with food spilled on it and after being told it hadn't been sat all day I was kind of grossed out thinking that means it hadn't been cleaned the night before. Used the restrooms while we were there and they were filthy, too, with garbage cans so full that garbage was falling out. Perfectly understandable that sometimes that can't be avoided if you're slammed but the place was mostly empty. Average experience and food. Excellent salad. read more

The location itself was nice. The waitress was kind and the food arrived quickly. The portions themselves are very generous-4 squares were more than enough to feed our party of 2. However, the pizza itself was just okay. Maybe it was the specific type we chose, but it was rather underwhelming. It wasn't bad by any means, just did not meet the Buddy's hype we heard about. read more

We stopped in to Buddy's at the end of our trip. We got a medium salad, Michigan Mule, and 2 -4 square pizzas - the detroiter ( my fav) and the 6 mile. The salad was tossed in their homemade vinaigrette and their crust had the perfect crunch and was very light. Server was great as well. read more

The pizza was above and beyond my expectations! I ordered the Motown Museum that came with pepperoni and bacon, which is closer to your classic pizza flavor, and I would recommend trying it. My partner loves heavy flavors in his food and ordered The Henry Ford which had a lasagna-like flavor with blue cheese (his favorite cheese). There was plenty of parking in the lot. No wait in the middle of the day at around 3pm. The restaurant was sit down dining and reminded me a lot of BJ's restaurant and brewhouse. The service was good, and the pizza takes about 20 mins to come out. read more

Fast service, great decor food was fabulous. This salad was a medium and would have fed 3 of us 2 times over alone. The Italian pizza was dynamite 3 pieces left over feeding two but that was with a huge salad so this pie would satisfy two for sure stand alone. The burger was the "Robby Burger" phenomenal tasting burger cooked to order, a happy medium. Robby is drenched with the Buddy's awesome sauce so be sure to get extra napkins. Great meal for a very reasonable price definitely will revisit. read more

Stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon. Busy but not crowded. We were seated immediately. Pursued the pizza menu. Got a four square of the Greektown the super 6 mile and the Sicilian. We wanted some variety. The Greek pizza was excellent. Had lots of feta and of course the buddies crispy edges on the crust. I like the 6 mile as well. It was very cheesy and flavorful. The Sicilian is great for a meat lover and although it was my third favorite, it was still mighty fine . The server was friendly, he did forget a water, but that was ok. The decor has plenty of televisions for your football viewing options. It is warm and kind of cozy although there's a lot of brick, the decor is comfortable. read more

First time trying Detroit style pizza! Very cute looking place. Our server was excellent and super friendly. Ordered the antipasto salad, chicken tenders, Detroit Public Tv, and Henry Ford. The server let me choose a couple of sauces for the tenders so don't have to just stick with one! The pizza was bready and soft with crunchy sides. I don't eat pizza often but I enjoyed this style of pizza. The Henry ford was really good but I couldn't really taste the blue cheese. The salad came with a ton of salami on top and the I like their vinaigrette dressing. A medium salad is definitely enough or more for at least 6 people (we had 4 and thought it was too much). Would definitely come try another flavor if I get the chance to visit again! read more

Traveling and staying in AA, spent a day in Detroit, but missed out on Detroit style pizza so we were thrilled to find Buddy's! We loved the deeper dish, square cuts, and sauce/flavor. We enjoyed some cheesy bread and cocktails first, thank goodness because our pizza took over an hour! If you are at all a cherry lover - get the Michigan Mule - it was sooo good! Also, our first time trying Michigan's own - Vernor's Ginger Ale - it was freaking amazing (kinda like a ginger beer meets cream soda). We had incredibly customer service, despite the wait, she was helpful with our drink orders, left us the leftover Vernor's post cocktail mixing - and checked in frequently with us. We really enjoyed the vibe, food, and minus the long wait, the overall experience! read more

Absolutely yes. We love Buddy's! We probably go too much, but it's really close to us and so easy to go to... My husband and I have a formula for dinner at this point. I get the Buddy Brew draft, brewed by Griffin Claw exclusively for Buddy's, and it's a delicious beer. We share an individual size salad (our favorites are the Greek with Buddy's vinaigrette instead of the garlic parmesan dressing and the House salad, same vinaigrette), and a 4 piece signature square pizza on thin crust. (The thin crust ones actually get sliced into 6 pieces as an FYI, but it's the same area/size as the regular 4 piece.) You really can't go wrong with any of their pizzas; I feel like we've probably tried them all over the years. We like the thin crust as well because it's still kind of like a doughy Detroit style version of thin crust, but we don't feel too weighed down afterwards. Of course, we add a side of ranch (for literally any pizza). If we're really hungry we'll also get the chicken tenders. The interior is a decently nice sit down restaurant, with bar seating available as well. I don't know of many pizza places that are nice to dine in at other than Buddy's. It can get busy during dinner hours but we typically go early enough to never wait. read more

Staff is wonderful. Happy hour specials are nice, daily specials also great. Pizza is of course great. Loaded fries are excellent.

I got some apps for takeout and it was promptly ready and I had a great pickup experience at the window, I'm just not a huge fan of the food. I've had pizza there before and didn't like the red sauce. This time I tried some apps, but didn't like the green peppery taste from the meatballs. The cheese fries are actually wedges and are just okay. read more

I was so excited to try some Detroit style pizza. This place was recommended to me and I'm so glad I stopped! They are a chain but a local chain, that makes it better right? You can get a 4 or 8 square pizza. I stuck with the basic pepperoni and it was amazing! I love how the cheese and sauce goes all the way to the edge. I also tried the buddy bread and again, amazing! We ordered the Chicken wings, Mozzarella cheese stick, and Greektown pizza. It was a pretty short wait of 25 minutes. Chicken wings and the mozzarella cheese stick was okay, pretty standard to what you'd get elsewhere. The pizza was phenomenal. Love the different toppings especially the feta cheese. And the base layer cheese has a heftiness to it which makes the perfect proportion of cheese to topping to crust. The crust is hidden underneath all the goodness, only peeping from the edge with a crispy finish. This is my first time trying Detroit style pizza and I am very impressed with it! read more

When I first got to the restaurant it was pretty packed, tons of people already in the restaurant, and tons coming in. Now for a small business that could be a problem, however the people at buddy's have clearly got into the swing of things and are used to things being busy. I sat down and was given a Diet Pepsi by a very kind female worker, she asked what we wanted and we ordered the loaded fries as an appetizer. The reason I am giving this place a 4 instead of 5 is because the service. While it was good towards the middle and end, the beginning was quite slow and it took over 15 minutes to get the loaded fries. After we got the fries the lady who was serving us left to help another table and a man stepped in to be our server. I get sometimes people need to switch schedules, however there could have been better communication. When we got the fries they were bussin, very good not to salty not to soggy. We ordered a Detroit style pepperoni pizza. When it came and I put my teeth into the slice, it felt like a heaven ball. It was one of the best pizzas I done ever did have. It Rivals cottage Inn, and hungry Howies, however it was better than both. I ate my slices and we paid and went on our way. I'd highly recommend buddy's Pizza to anyone wanting some Detroit style pizza, but doesn't feel like driving an hour away. Good stuff keep it up. read more

Soup and pasta good. Pizza sad. Thin crust, not even brown or caramelized on bottom. Crust not up to Motor City Pizza. At all. Very disappointed. Remember when served with spatula and metal pan, and wait person saying, "Be careful , pan very hot" Now , not crispy, little creepy. Wait people and managers say this is how it has always been. If this is how it was always been, you would not be in business. Come on. They don't know what they are talking about . Embarrassing. read more

Never had a Detroit pizza before? I hadn't either but I knew I couldn't be in Detroit and never try it. So, my hubby and I made sure we visited Buddy's. We got recommended Buddy's from some locals and I have to say that Buddy's was amazing! We built our own Detroit pizza and it was made fresh to order. I really liked how it tasted. I would have to say that it was really well made, not overly doughy and had a good crisp. If you are a local and never tried Buddy's it's time to go! If you are visiting out of town and never had Detroit pizza, you gotta visit Buddy's! Definitely a decision that you won't regret. So disappointed it this place. I'm from Florida and decided to get some Detroit-Style Pizza. I ordered two pizza's, one Detroit-Style Pizza and one Thin-Crust. I was hoping for and expecting a a crunchy, fried bottom layer of crust, in addition to the crunch sides of the All-Square Detroit-Style Pizza. The bottom layer of crust was as doughy as any deep-dish pizza at any run-of-the-mill pizza place in the country. Traveled an hour (round trip) to get this pizza. It was a waste of money and time. read more

The Spicy Italian 8 piece was not the way buddy's does pizza. The dough was flat and dense. The edges burnt and sauce was thick and dry from being overcooked. The waitress admitted they were having issues with the dough and she volunteered to have the manager over to address the pizza, but they never showed up and the waitress continued on like nothing to see here. Well hey here's your $110, (including a tip) thank you. Can't wait to go back. read more
