They sell out when they sell out so get here early for first pick!! We got the raspberry blast and the chocolate eclair - both filled. If you've got a sugar craving and you're near one, def stop by :)

Oh my goodness! I went to Illinois and I only spent $$$ on Donuts! (Seriously!) So, I live in the Atlanta area where we have donut shops all over the place, some chains and some locally owned ones. What I LOVED about Joe Donut was the simplicity of the donuts. I do not need anything crazy. Honestly, just seeing a chocolate frosted with rainbow sprinkles (the nonparallel type) made me SO HAPPY! Luckily, my nephew goes to school down the street so when I come back to town, I know where breakfast is coming from~

I'll start by saying I love me some donuts! I've been to Joe Donut a few times and have tried them at friends' places and they just fall a tad bit short. I must explain though! I love the variety of flavor options offered by Joe Donut, there really is something for everyone. My reason for 3 starts only, these donuts are on the dry side for me and taste like they've been sitting around for a long time just a couple hours after bringing them home. You definitely have to buy them fresh and consume them right away. If you do, they are pretty good! The double chocolate, maple bacon, chocolate with sprinkles (Celebration is what I think it's called) are pretty good. I wanted to love the Hazelnut/Nutella long John, but it was SO DRY! People love this place. I've tried it many times, but it has yet to wow me. Will I return? Sure, if it's the only option. Will I seek it out or crave it? Probably not!

The entry to a little store where bigly-deliciousness awaits.

Love this place! Teeny-tiny spot near the Glenview Metra train station, across from the library. Excellent doughnuts with fun flavors for the adventurous and great traditional choices, too. Cute mini cake doughnut "cups" on top of the drink cooler - perfect for a little nibble (or for kids). The coffee is full-bodied, rich brew and can take on any of the pastries you want to dunk in - and it's hot-hot-hot. Family favorites are the Joe 1/2 Dozen with a mix of salted caramel toffee almond old-fashioned and coconut cake with show-offs: red velvet, maple bacon, or (blueberry) fritter. The kids insist on the Snickers old-fashioned, Oreo, and cereal-garnished (fruity pebbles). Oh, yes, get some glazed, if you can (you have to go early to get these - they usually sell out). I always get a side-car (aka The Commuter) and give the donut away to share the goodness. If there's a line, be patient. You won't wait too long, as Diana gets people through efficiently and with a smile.

Very cute little shop at the Glenview Metra station. We've tried a few times to get to the shop before it closes because they usually close down once their donuts run out. Waked up and arrived at 8am on the Sunday. There was a constant stream of customers during that time while we were there. We ordered a Joe's Dozen which was 2 short of a real dozen (end total was just short of $15). I particularly liked their pecan fritter - it was HUGE and had good texture. The old-fashioned donuts were great, while the yeast style donuts were pretty decent as well. I've never really been a fan of the old-fashioned before but I'm warming up to them especially how Joe's make em. Usually my default is the yeast glazed. No place to sit, it's mainly a grab and go kind of place. They did have a good daily special of $3 for a donut + 16oz coffee. I'll definitely put on my list of places to revisit.

I really like stopping in here for iced coffee and 1 or 4 or 5 donuts on the way in to work! My top picks have been the vanilla old fashioned, red velvet, but most importantly ANY FRITTER YOU CAN GET YOUR HANDS ON! The apple one is gigantic, fresh, and delicious. A few months ago, they had a couple scone flavors, but I am not sure if that's a regular thing. Friendly customer service. Donut worry: I'll be back soon!

There are not many small batch donut shops in the area. I've been trying to come here for awhile now and either it was closed when I've passed by or there wasn't anymore. They seem to sell out quickly especially on weekdays, probably because they are so close to the train stop makes for an easy grab before getting on the train. This morning that we came in, it was early and I knew they would not run out this time. It's a small shop, smaller than what it seems, there are no tables inside to sit down on, but a couple outside. We grabbed a 1/2 Joe dozen which is 9 donuts (2 specialty and 7 mixed). We grabbed a nice variety to try. My favorite was the blueberry lemon old fashioned. Looks like there's a deal for a donut with coffee for $3.

Yes, believe the hype. Joe Donut has a great selection of delicious donuts, all of which are soft, fresh, and easy on the eyes. As a regular and loyal customer, I tried a variety of flavors and I loved every single one of them. The truth of the matter is, these donuts don't miss! The coconut one is my absolutely favorite - if they have it, I'm buying it. If they don't, I won't hesitate ordering one of their specialities because they're always so exciting to try. I also love their pumpkin donuts come fall time, they are unmatched. Pro tip: try to come in earlier in the morning as they tend to run out of certain donuts quickly (especially their seasonal specialties). The one thing I do want to note, however, is I feel like the staff is not as friendly as they could be. Regardless, the service is super quick, prompt, and you're really in and out of the building. All in all, if you're craving a donut, don't disgrace yourself by going to the Dunkin Donuts across the street. If you care about quality at all, you won't think twice about stopping in at this cute little shop.

Chocolate covered cake, pistachio old fashioned and cinnamon sugar donuts. I ate the glazed donut prior to the pic lol

I think this has to be the best donut shop in the area. They make fresh donuts daily and have a good variety of donuts. With that said, they only have a few of each especially towards the later end of the morning ~9am. What's key about Joes donuts is that it's located walking distance from the Metra Glenview train stop so if you're craving a donut and some morning joe, stop on in for some pure deliciousness. My favorite is either their pistachio old fashioned donut or their traditional glazed donut. Both are worthy of craving and I can't wait to go back. My only hesitation on giving this place 5 stars are the lack of quantity...I find this at most donut shops in the city and maybe something they can I'll improve upon in the future?

They have curbside pickup for your online order. Something delicious and fresh to cheer us all up during this pandemic.

This place is such a gem! It is conveniently located right next to the Glenview metra stop or if you drove there's parking (very limited) right in front of the store. We initially grabbed two donuts, red velvet and sprinkles. We were shocked by the price, it came out to $4! Which is normally how much ONE donut in Chicago cost. The donuts are super yum, I absolutely loved the sprinkle cake donut. So moist and crumbly, I can taste the delicious fat it was fried in, just heavenly. It was so good in fact, I went back and got another one along with a pistachio old-fashioned, and sprinkle wins again! This place is definitely worth a revisit If I'm ever in Glenview again. By the way, they make their donuts in small batches, so definitely go early.

    Christina B.

Super cute, a little smaller than other locations, I noticed less donut options but didn't have any difficulty choosing. I tried the lemon poppyseed doughnut and it was awesome. My friend got a Boston cream donut and it was one of the weirdest donuts I've ever tried, the filling tasted lemony. It was just wrong, skip that flavor. I also had a cold brew with caramel and oat milk, delicious.

I have been excited about the addition of Bean Bar to our neighborhood in downtown Northbrook for a…read morewhile.  We finally had a chance to visit together before we went to the Art in the Park the Saturday of the Mother's Day weekend!  It totally justified all the hype! Given it was a Saturday, there was an annual art fair in the Village Green close by, and the Mother's Day weekend, we expected it to be very busy, and it was justifiable so.  There was a rather long line placing orders at the cashier, but it moved quickly.  There were many laminated menus for us to read while waiting in line.  The cashier was friendly, patient, and helpful in answering questions.  Our daughter ordered an Avocado Toast and a Berry Zen Refresher.  My husband and I found that a good idea, and each of us also ordered an Avocado Toast, although I had hoped that I got different types of dishes to photograph, lol.  Husband had a Cappuccino, and I had a large Iced Pistachio Latte (oat milk).  This simple brunch came up to $77.34 with tip, and it's worth it. All 3 Avocado Toasts were perfectly made.  All the ingredients were very fresh, although there wasn't a lot of seasoning, the taste of each ingredient worked well together to achieve a delicious dish.  I especially liked the over easy egg and the crispy edges of the warm toast.  My Iced Pistachio Latte was very good without being too sweet. Although the food and drinks were the star, the ambiance was so pleasing and relaxed that totally elevated the entire experience.  The dining room with high ceiling and chandeliers was spacious and beautiful.  There were many different types of seating for patrons -- big comfy couches, regular tables, high-tops, small booths, conference rooms with long table and chairs, small private rooms... not to mention about the large sheltered patio with many tables and seats!  As I have mentioned, we went at a busy time, there were not a lot of tables left for dining purposes, we opted for a high-top.  Even though the venue was almost filled to capacity, it still felt very airy and comfortable.  I could just chill there happily for half a day with my latte! However, there were small hiccups that fortunately did not ruin our first experience there.  My husband's and daughter's drink came out almost instantly after we sat down, but I had to chase down a staff (there's no servers except for the staff who delivered the dishes or cleaned tables) to tell him that my drink was missing.  I told him that it's supposed to be cold but with no ice.  He immediately got me a Pistachio Latte but with ice.  The cashier lady had specified no ice on when she placed the order for me, I talked to her about this and she offered to make me a new one, but I had already had a sip and didn't want to put the drink to waste, so I just kept it.  I later scooped out all the ice so that it did not dilute my drink, and it was good.  I must mention that the food came out in just 5 minutes even though the place was busy. Our high-top table wobbled when we used our knives and forks to cut the toasts, not a very big deal, but the restaurant could easily have that fixed as I am pointing it out now, It's one of the high-tops under the BB sign. This brunch kicked off a very happy Mother's Day weekend.  I was in a very good mood going to the art fair from Bean Bar.  We will definitely return to try the many other items on their menu.

My main issue is the drinks. I've had a couple that were good, like the pistachio latte and dirty lavender chai, but most need improvement. They often taste watered down or mostly like milk rather than the actual flavor. The rose latte, London Fog matcha latte, Turkish coffee, and cardamom cinnamon latte all felt pretty weak. The $0.75 charge for alternative milk also feels high given the drink prices. The bakery items are hit or miss. The tomato basil Danish ($7.50) was delicious, but some cakes and pastries we've tried have been dry. I keep coming back because the space is beautiful and convenient, I just wish the drinks and snacks were more consistent.

As employees were already putting away the bread, I politely asked if I could grab a piece before everything was picked up. I was told that the bread was being moved to the front and that someone would assist me there. While I waited, two other groups entered after me. They heard the same information and ended up being helped before I was, despite the employees knowing that I had been waiting first. I politely asked twice for assistance and was told to continue waiting while the other groups were served. What made the situation more frustrating was that the customers ahead of me were taking a long time deciding what they wanted. I had already put on a plastic glove and was prepared to select my own bread, but I was told that wasn't necessary because an employee would help me. While waiting, I witnessed one of the teenagers from a group point directly at the bread, and another teenager pushed their hand into it. This happened in front of the employees, and no one addressed the situation or reminded them not to touch the food. As someone who was trying to follow proper sanitation practices, I found this very concerning. Not only did this happened once but 2,3 times infront of them. Yet nothing was addressed. After being ignored, waiting while others were served ahead of me, and seeing unsanitary behavior go unaddressed, I decided to leave without making a purchase. I was disappointed by both the customer service and the lack of attention to food handling standards.

We ended up sharing an iced pistachio latte (delicious and 10/10!), the pistachio cheesecake (10/10!), and the strawberry mousse cake (7/10 - a subtle sweetness, great texture, but needed more cake or crust inside as it was mostly whipped cream and the shell). Alas, it could not have been blander. I couldn't taste any "spices" or even the hint of salt. The profile was that of very watered-down tea mixed with milk, and a ton of pistachios floating on top. Like, barely crushed pistachios. Huge pieces, covering the top of the drink, bobbed around like tiny icebergs, and even they somehow had a toned-down flavor. The drink was definitely a swing and a miss. Fast forward two weeks, and I tried Matari again. This time with a simple cortado. I sat at the table right by the door, and the espresso was pretty good. Solid body, not too bitter. It was on the pricy side ($7+), but I was ok with that. But then, I'm hanging out, sipping my coffee, and I catch a burst of perfume-like scent. I'm shocked, but whatever, I figured someone in heavy perfume walked by, no big deal. A few minutes later, wham, I'm hit in the nose with another burst of perfume. Then, I see it. A slight haze around me. So, not a heavily perfumed woman after all, but an automated air-freshener. After further inspection, I see the unit plugged in on the ground right behind my chair, which sprays up and out on a timer. That's right, an air freshener right next to a table where people consume food and beverages, shooting a mist into the air that slowly rains down onto my head and table, and into my coffee. I ended up tossing the last few sips of my cortado, as I could taste the scented whatever-it-was in my cup. I'd have gone to the counter and asked for a new one, but I was so over my visit by then, I just opted to get out. The staff aren't very friendly. Not rude, but they don't give off a welcoming aura, and I didn't feel like trying to explain the issue. Lastly, can we talk about their little "your order is up" beepers? We've all seen them. The little electronic things that blink and make a noise when your order is ready, so you can go snag it from the counter. When I think of a coffee shop, I think quiet and peaceful, or perhaps a bit louder, with bustling people and well-paired music. At Matari, it's an insane BEEP BEEP BEEP that goes off every few minutes when an order is up. I get it, you don't want to bring the food out to your customers. But does it really need to feel like an airport Chili's? It's a bummer, because Matari is beautiful inside. It's clean, it's chic, and its location is at a notable crossroads in Skokie with plenty of parking, leaving it extremely convenient. They've even got an easy-to-use website, which so many coffee shops simply do not have. There aren't a lot of coffee shops in this particular part of town, which is why I so, so very much wanted to love Matari. But subpar drinks? Air freshener spray intrusions? Frequent and obnoxious beeping? I tried. I'm sorry. I just can't.
