I have been coming to this salon for the past 6 months and Lynn has been my nail tech. Everyone is always polite the setting is very comfortable and my experience is always great. HOWEVER, I had my nails done yesterday by Brenna and when I tell you I am going to book my appointment out for the next 3 months!!!! She was absolutely amazing, you can absolutely tell that she cares about her craft. I have never experienced a nail tech completing a design i asked for PERFECTLY. I used to absolutely love this place! The group of ladies there seemed very kind and professional. My nails and pedicures were mostly consistent, so I knew what to expect. And, it was close to my home. Unfortunately, I had to stop going to this nail salon due to the lack of timeliness and professionalism. I think most customers at nail salons agree that it is reasonable to have a wait to get your nails done, due to a number of factors. However, a simple acknowledgment of a 20-30+ minute wait after a scheduled appointment from the nail tech would go a long way. I booked my last appointment at their earliest available time on their website, 9:30am on a Saturday, to avoid a lengthy wait since I would be the first appointment of the day. The owner's wife didnt arrive to the salon until 9:45, and took another 5-10 minutes to cut on the "open" sign. When I walked in, I was not immediately greeted. And, once seated there was no acknowledgment that she was 30+ minutes late. To me, that shows no respect for my time. Mind you, they have a policy that they can and will charge you extra if you are 10 minutes late to their salon. This experience was very unfortunate because I grew to really love this salon. However, that experience made me feel treated as a number and not a valued customer. read more

They do great work! I'm from Southern California where talented nail techs are in abundance, so moving to the DMV where there's a shortage I was grateful to have found them. I live in Northern Virginia and traveled all the way to Baltimore just to get my nails done (I'm serious about a good nail slay). As a result of miscommunication and scheduling, I was unable to get the nail services that I really wanted, but I was still well pleased with how my nails turned out AND the Jacky gave me a discount for the inconvenience. So, although my experience was not ideal, i appreciate the acknowledgement on behalf of the owner and effort that was made to keep my business and I plan to come back and bring the rest of my Cali and NY girlfriends. UPDATE: I had to stop going there! Although Jolene was great, I just could NOT deal with the owners attitude anymore! I drove an hour and 15 minutes, was always on time, paid and tripped well so the last thing I wanted to was supported a business owner that goes out of their way to be nasty! If you're the type of person who can ignore it or happen to be a person that the owner likes, then you will be fine. In the 25yrs I've been greeting my nails done, never in my life have the looked and felt this amazing! I had an appointment with Tiffany, and I arrived about 15mins early more than ready to sit by and wait my turn -- but Jo was free and decided to get me started while Tiffany finished up with her client. The attention to detail that they both paid was beyond anything I ever expected. I've been in the area for just over 6 years and now I feel like I've officially found my home! From the very beginning I was impressed with Tiffany. I used the online booking app to schedule my appointment. Within 24 hours, Tiffany contacted me to confirm my appointment and request a deposit. I'm used to having to pay a deposit so I had no problem with this. I clearly communicated which services I needed before hand to ensure there would be ample time. Decided to give "Jo" a go on my quest for the aforementioned, after he came highly recommended from a former coworker of mine who has great taste. The first time I made an appointment, I went to his Instagram, followed the link in his bio & to my surprise, he was booked - 2 weeks out. No problem - booked an appointment and waited it out. Day of my appointment, it's mid-snowstorm but I still made the icy-trek in hopes that they would be open. Arrived on time, walked in, and Jo greeted me mid-filing on a client. I explained I had an appointment but he looked confused. I showed him confirmation, he admitted he must have double booked me and asked me to come back tomorrow. Now, that right there would push your regular NOVA momma to flip her lid - however, since I understand that we're all human & mistakes are made, I kept it moving and searched Yelp for a salon nearby (re: Sky Nails - see my review from that day). I decided it wouldn't be fair to review Jo until I gave him another chance. Fast forward a few months. Beginning of February, I decided to try again. Same situation, booked 2 weeks out - I make the appointment for today, 2/14 @ 1pm. A few days prior to the appointment, I received 2 different texts asking me to confirm my time slot. Great, so we're all good. Today, I arrive promptly at 1pm. There's 3 techs working (including Jo), each with a client. I walk over to sign in, I'm greeted and asked who my appointment is with. I replied, "1pm, Jo". That's it. I see him. He acknowledges me. He's at the pedicure bowl with another client. 45 minutes pass, AT THIS POINT, not one person has spoken another word to me. I'm still sitting in the chair at the front, waiting. Jo is with the same client, now working on her manicure. Look, I worked in the beauty (service) industry for 5 years. Shit gets hectic, I get it. I'm not hard to please. All I ask is you shoot me a text or whatever, explain you're running later than expected, you accidentally double-booked, whatever. PLEASE, for everyone's sake, PLEASE do not leave your client just sitting, without an explanation. It's rude, it shows me you don't care about my business, nor do you know how to run a business. No third chances. Jo is clearly TOO focused on his coin (in the wrong way) & not worried about quality client retention. I'll pass - and suggest you do, too. read more

I made an appointment almost a month out to have my nails done before vacation. A week and a half before my appointment I get a call from the salon as I'm rushing into another appointment. The woman has a ton of attitude and starts grilling me about what I've booked and saying she doesn't understand. It was a simple gel manicure and regular pedicure so I'm not sure what there was to understand as I picked these things from the options I was given off their booking site. I ask her if I can call back because I'm heading into another appointment and again she acts put out and tells me how busy she is. While I'm at my three hour appointment, I find out there are major issues with our airline tickets for our trip that we are supposed to leave for in 2 weeks. This is around 2:30. I spend the rest of my day on the phone trying to sort this out. The next morning I head into work as a teacher. I get a text mid morning saying my appointment has been canceled due to lack of response and not putting down a deposit for first time client. I was never told they needed a deposit. It hadn't even been 24 hours since I'd received the first call. It seemed like she wanted to open that appointment for someone else and created a reason to drop mine. New clients, I would not bother. After her shitty attitude I have no interest in ever stepping foot in this place. Other people are busy too. It seems this individual has an overly inflated self image. read more

Got the spa pedicure over 4th of July weekend with my future mother and sister in law, and it was nothing short of miraculous. I typically work 12 hour days on my feet, and my technician (sorry to say I'm not remembering her name) melted the aches away immediately. She was also very attentive to any temperature sensitivities I might have had--the little foot jacuzzi and the hot towels were just right, but I appreciated her asking. Beyond my technician, the other techs and the atmosphere at large are ideal for a real "spa day." I scheduled an appointment with a particular nail tech but was told that I couldn't see her. Even though, when I walked in she was free. I'm not sure why this happened. I was denied my nail tech by Tiffany which I believe might of been the owner and was forced to receive services from someone else. Throughout my service I hear Tiffany speaking negatively about clients and even the associates. If she is the owner I feel like this is very unprofessional and put a bad taste in my mouth. I believe as a business owner myself, I treat everybody with respect and if something bothers me about my associates I tell them to their face and not behind their backs and especially not in front of clients. I was able to get my friend and I an appointment for a full acrylic set with designs very quickly! However, when I arrived the nail tech was upset that I currently had nails on and said I have to let them know that I need my current set removed before hand, which is fine but I called in to make this appt and never once was I asked that. I would think most people who request very detailed nails already have their nails done and just need a new set..but anyways they did a good job on my set. My friend requested a very simple dip powder set. The nail tech working on her did such an awful job that the owner had to completely re do her nails, resulting in us being there for entirely way to long, which again is fine but the kicker is that my friend made a comment about her wanting to schedule another appt with them for her next dip powder set but that she would like to request the owner or at the very least someone more skilled to do her nails and before the female nail tech could even respond to my friend, the owner blurts out "I don't do dip powder"!!...pretty shocking, considering he just had to re do the hack job the original nail tech did for something very simple. I also do not agree with the $10 charge to remove old sets...I have been to many nail salons and have never been charged for this. In addition to that, the pricing on their services is already far higher than most. The quality of work was good, however the experience we had with the staff was sub par. read more

I've been getting waxed my entire life and I've never had a skin reaction like this. It was my first time getting waxed here and I whole heartedly regret it. Within a day after the entire area (eyebrows and lip) I had waxed had broken out in gross pimples. I have clear skin and have never had this reaction to being waxed. I have no idea why it happened here, but I would suggest stay away. If you get your nails done by any other staff, you will be highly pissed, they will be visibly uneven, not one, but most of your nails, and the chick put her glasses on prior!!!! I found this shop by way of my nail tech when he moved. I have not been disappointed. Granted, he is the only one that does my nails, but I have had pedis done by a few of the girls. They have all been decent of not downright great. I also pay close attention to the other patrons when I am there...to gauge the other techs in case I need an emergency fix or something and my tech is not there...I have been pleasantly surprised to note that just about everything I have seen completed has been nicely done.
