Oh! Where do I begin!! Ok well I came here 4 weeks ago Dreaming of beautiful nails. Mandy totally delivered. She created the most beautiful rose gold acrylic coffin nails. She was also super gentle with my nails! So much so that I was not in pain! So so awesome. I made the mistake of going to Paris Nail Day Spa in Manassas to get a specific type of nail design done. Because they had all these pictures and I didn't know whether Tokyo could do it. On June 10,2019 I had the worst experience in a long time. (Left my experience in their page) On June 11, 2019 I walk into Tokyo nails for some nail repair. I was so not disappointed. Lily took a look at my nail design request and totally delivered. I was so happy. Their salon is not fancy but they are very professional and work really hard. They keep everything clean. I now look at my nails and feel happy. They definitely went the extra mile. So disappointed. Called a week before to see if they did chrome manicures. Was told yes. Told them I already had one that needed to be filled in. I was in town to visit family ahead of going out of town and made the appointment for just a few hours before we had to be at IAD. When I got there, they were a bit confused and fascinated by my chrome manicure. That should have been my first clue to leave. Instead, they removed my gel chrome and proceeded to do a new one. What I got, though, was not a chrome manicure, but a silver gel polish. Big difference. And it wasn't a great manicure either - it was uneven on a few nails and went past the cuticles on a couple. But I paid, figuring it was gel and would at least last the entire vacation week and that I could go to my regular manicurist in NC once I got home. Less than two hours later as we're getting ready to leave for the airport, I saw that the silver was already coming off all of the nails. All.of.them. As we left for the airport we stopped in so I could request a refund, and they refused, only offering to touch it up. I refused, stating a touch up after only 2 hrs was unacceptable, and that I had no time because we were literally heading to the airport. He refused again, so I let him know I'd be leaving bad reviews. I'm now at the airport gate, lamenting that I paid money for something that isn't even as good as I would have done on my own at home. Pictures are included. One is of my original chrome. When I went in the nail place this morning it looked almost exactly like this, only with two weeks of growth at the cuticle. The rest of the pictures show what I have now, all because Tokyo Nails doesn't know what a chrome manicure is. Avoid this place. I've been going to Tokyo Nails for about 10 years. I don't regularly get my nails done, but when I do I only go here. Cam is the owner and is warm and welcoming. Any technician whose done my nails or toes has done a good job. I'd definitely recommend calling ahead for an appointment as they can get busy, but they do have walk ins. You just may wait. Weird vibes from owners! Intrusive questions! Read ALL negative reviews below (wish I did), really accurate and especially the one from Henry C. Will not be back! I really wanted to like Tokyo Nails but it got too weird for me by my 3rd appt. Service was ok, they don't really help you out with your stuff or shoes or anything. For the price I pay every 2 weeks, you would think they would step up the customer service, but unfortunately they don't! The girl that was doing my gel manicure was good but my gel pedicure was mediocre. She barely scrubbed my feet and it still felt rough afterwards. She's also not Vietnamese so it felt like she was treated differently. It also felt like they were jealous every time I gave her a big tip. My third appointment was at noon on a Saturday, I kept getting calls and texts on Friday from the male owner about changing my appt time. When I finally called back on Saturday morning, he asked if I can come in at 10 am or 11 am and I said I wasn't sure. I said that maybe at 11 am, but would rather keep my original appt. He called again at 11 am when I didn't show up. It felt like they double booked or was trying to accommodate another customer so they wanted me to change my plans. It also felt like they were trying to pawn me off to another nail tech. I got there at 5 mins before noon and he told me that they had a few cancellations and that's why they wanted me to come in early. I didn't believe it. He also asked if I wanted to schedule my next appointment or if I wanted to call later and schedule it. I went ahead and scheduled another appointment and at the same time. I didn't receive my normal text reminder about the appt because they normally text you prior to your appointment. I thought that was weird and I couldn't make it anyway. Also, the lady that waxed my eyebrows was his wife and not the other lady that normally does it. It got too uncomfortable because she kept asking me questions about my personal life and family. It felt like an interview or an interrogation! I understand making conversation, but this felt different. She asked if I have my own business or if I worked. She even asked where I bought my outfit. I guess she was trying to find out how I can afford to pay for a gel manicure and a gel pedicure?? I'm not really sure what that was about either? I always paid in cash and gave at least 20% cash tip to the nail tech and to the one that usually waxes my eyebrows. I texted the male owner for any available appts with no reply. This place is overpriced for the service you get. I paid for the deluxe spa pedicure, which is $43 ($40 if you pay with cash). During the pedicure, the employee used the cuticle cutters to pull skin from around my big toe, which was painful. She also repeatedly got up from the station to walk around and text, leaving me for 5 minutes at a time. She was not at all friendly during the visit, and the pedicure was painful. Additionally, as you can see in the picture, the end result was messy and I had polish all over my feet which I had to ask her to clean. The last straw was that when I tried to pay with my card, they said the machine was down and I would need to get cash out. Then they charged me the machine price for my pedicure anyways. I requested some sort of refund or discount given how bad the service was, and they took $2 off the cash price (I paid $38). Very unprofessional, I will not be returning, ever. read more

The service was good, like another reviewer says, there is no rinse, just the hand cream and the mittens which are then dried. My manicure was not rushed, and the attendant reviewed her work carefully, she was talkative and nice. The interior is ample, seating is comfortable, there are two low volume TV's and background music, general area was clean and the stations were organized, I liked the Asian themed decoration and floral arrangements, also plenty of magazines to check while you wait. I came here during my lunch break, and off a recommendation from my coworker who goes here regularly. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the tech who did my nails - just that her station was the first one all the way to the left, closest to the wall, when you entered. I wanted to see the person my coworker goes to, because her nails always come out nice (she also gets a full set), but he was already booked. I requested a regular French manicure, regular polish. She was pushy about getting shellac, even after I told her I was on my lunch and didn't have that much time to commit to a gel manicure. My manicure didn't even last a day. Everything was peeling off or chipping very easily. I didn't want to bother coming back because I felt the whole experience was lackluster from the beginning. Honestly, had I not seen the Yelp reviews for this salon (thank you!), I would have never looked twice or thought about going inside. I have seen this place driving to the salon I used to frequent by Target but never thought about going there since it's in a little strip mall next to a gun store & gas station. Don't let the surrounding area sway you from stopping here! The inside is beautiful and DEFINITELY worth making a stop. Marble flooring, nice pedicure chairs. It's nice -- and has a cute little beachy, palm tree theme. I had no trouble walking in on a Friday at 4PM w/o an appointment and getting seated right away and neither did a girlfriend who met me up 10 minutes later, despite the place being pretty packed. She got a pedicure and loved it. She said the guy massaged her legs very well and took his time making sure her pedicure was perfect. Not a spec of nail polish on her cuticle or anything. I didn't catch his name but she said she would def come back because he was very attentive. I was sat with a very sweet girl named Muy. I asked for a shellac manicure (if you haven't gotten one, DO IT. it's so low maintenance, dries instantly and last for 2+ weeks for $30--awesome) and it was AMAZING. I had gotten a shellac french mani 2.5 wks prior for my wedding and needed to remove it and it didn't take much time at all before Muy could start on my shellac mani. She did a great job in making sure all the details were taken care of; cuticles cut, perfectly buffed & shaped my nails. She took her time and didn't rush, which I appreciated because the salon quickly became more packed with people getting dolled up for the weekend. Again, Muy was super sweet and by the time I left, I felt like I had made a new homegirl, rather than just getting my nails done by some random. I'll post a picture of my nails -- I'm really happy with them. I picked the color #35, which is a coral-y pink color. I've rec'd a ton of compliments in the 6 days since it's been done. BTW, mine and my friends nails were inspected thoroughly by our friend who's an extremely picky nail tech that's damn good at what she does (hi, MT) and she said they did a great job -- so if I have her seal of approval, I know this place is a winner. The staff is extremely friendly and the salon is really clean. If you can make it out to Tokyo, I'd def rec commend it! I've been to 3-5 different nail salons in the Manassas/Bristow area and really, really love this place. Finally, a place I can come to get dolled up at without getting ridiculed by the nail techs (one time I was told straight up by the nail tech working on me, "They talking about you." Lol, oh word? I used to love coming to this place because they remember you, make conversation, and are overall really laid back and relaxing. Not anymore. First, the most realible person there, Rita, left for another salon. I walked in about two weekends ago for an acrylic set, with a friend hoping for a pedicure. The salon was nearly empty with 2-3 people getting pedicures and one woman finishing up her manicure. If you've ever been here, based on the set up there is room for at least a dozen nail techs in addition to the spa chairs for pedicure in the back, and yet there was hardly anyone there. I was told to wait but not for how long. And after already going to my first choice salon and it being unusually busy, we figured it could not be that long given how empty it was here. We were so wrong. Some 30 minutes later someone finally takes me for my acrylics, but no one comes to claim my friend for her pedicure. He rushed through my manicure (didnt even clean up the cuticles and just got right to business so they grew out weird, sliced me a bit on one finger, and seemed to skip some important steps to preserve the integrity of the outcome) and by the time he was done some 45 min later (after the already 30 min wait for the 45 min service), he finally tells my friend "oh sorry now we can take you for a pedicure." Really? We said no, it was ridiculous to spend any more time there. I give him props for attempting a basic design on my nail, but it came out horribly. They only do flowery or outdated designs and are not up to date with whats popular (which would help them make money) so a basic Chevron looked like someone took a sharpie to my fingernail and blindly drew some lines on it. I was too frustrated with all of the waiting and was so ready to go, that I just said it was fine and left. I knew I would come off rude and did not want to, but it was quite bad. I took a picture, if you want to see. Its as if they just dont care anymore. They dont communicate with you or greet you when you walk in. You stand there awkwardly waiting to be acknowledged, and then they are unclear how long they want you to sit there and wait. I come to Tokyo Nails about every two weeks or so to get my gel and wax done. I specifically ask for Kery every time because I know she will always get the job done. She's very personable and always smiling, and she's an overall joy to be around. I would recommend her to anyone who comes here! Plus they've renovated the salon! It's modern and clean. They dispose of all their buffers and tools after every use and they sanitize it in their UV oven, and I don't have worry about germs when I soak my feet in their tub. read more

First off - when two friends walk in to get pedicures together.. they shouldn't get heir nails done at different times and have to sit across the room from eachother..... Just saying.. The chairs are so old and nasty.. the foam where you put your feet is damaged so bad and falling apart it is gross. the chairs are dirty and dingy and aren't even "massage" chairs... There aren't enough pedicure chairs and they don't offer any libations while you get your nails done.. Not a fan of this place with the out dated equipment and a pumice stone that looks used since 1999... The price isn't that great either.. read more

Long review warning... I have a regular nail salon in another city and I came here because they were close to my house and I thought I'd give it a shot. My first visit I got to fill the shape was okay but it wasn't their original work so I didn't have super high expectations. My next visit was a full set...I was soaking off a set that was done by my regular nail salon and I loved it I just wanted the exact same shape that they did. I'm not sure how that got misunderstood but I did not leave with what I wanted. Part of that was on me because she was asking me for feedback and I was not being completely honest about my satisfaction. After going home I called back and just said "hey I'm not really satisfied but I don't want to waste your time so I can get them soaked off". The gentleman I spoke to told me to come back in and that Mandy would redo it to my satisfaction. In my next visit I was skeptical but I also was a lot more honest about what I wanted and what wasn't right. I came away much more satisfied the next go-round but mostly because when she asked for feedback I gave it to her. My regular nail tech doesn't need this type of feedback so my expectations were that I didn't have to give any and that wasn't fair. This place is clean the nail text s are respectful, attentive, professional nice...it's definitely worth stopping in but please be aware that you will have to say when you don't like something or something's not right and they will do their best to make it right. read more

Very disappointed with my service at the salon. I asked the nail tech to make my nails almond shaped and she rounded my nails to a complete oval shape. Not to mention that I was their last client and they were hurrying to get out since the techs husband was waiting outside for her. The first tech didn't know how to do a dip manicure so she had to pass me off to another tech who had one foot out the door. I had a great natural shape to my nail and she completely ruined it. This place is grossly underrated! I've heard people say it's not clean, sure! The rug underneath the place where you choose your nails could be vacuumed and maybe chairs wiped down. But their tools come right out our that little oven everytime, the towels you can smell when they pull them out - just like fresh laundry. By FAR THE BEST MASSAGE for a regular massage (which is what keeps me coming back). The girls are nice, speak English, look and act professional.
