I had JMV tree service out to my house in Fremont a few weeks ago. Their estimator gave me a good senior citizen discount. Great price. This is a huge cedar tree in my front yard. They were prompt and professional. Newer equipment and nice professional safety uniforms. A supervisor here the whole time. Stop looking- this is THE PLACE! They earn their ratings. A+ After seeing their YELP rating I decided to give these folks a call. I've had my trees trimmed many times in my 35 years in Oakland. JMV came to give me an estimate as fast as lightning, Juan thoroughly examined my very sloping ravine of a back yard. On this slice of ravine are three gorgeous and humongous oak trees plus smaller scrub. I had not had my trees trimmed for... well, for too many years. Juan was very thorough in finding out what I wanted done and he had some fine suggestions and advice. He offered a fair price and did a lot of "marking" down the ravine for scrub removal. A week later- right on schedule- the JMV crew led by Jonathon showed up right on time. This group of guys were friendly and they really know what they're doing- they're real pros. Plus they work very very hard. Jonathon was a pleasure to talk with when they all first arrived. We briefly went over what was planned. Everything was very clear and I felt comfortable leaving for the dog park with Luke. We had another great time at Point Isabel. A few hours later I got a text from Jonathon saying they were going to be able to finish earlier than originally predicted. First class operation! The JMV team removed a large redwood tree in Feb 2025 that had grown too close to our house and our neighbor's. The removal was tricky because there wasn't much space to maneuver, overhead wires, and a wall of plate glass windows. The first arborist I consulted wouldn't even give me a quote! But the JMV team provided me with a reasonable bid and were able to remove the tree by cutting the tree into several segments and using a crane to remove each segment. They also pruned a 50-foot deodar cedar and cleaned up a large black acacia in our garden along with other miscellaneous pruning. All the work was top notch. They were careful with our landscaping and did a great job cleaning up. My neighbors on all sides were also very pleased with the work. STOP looking elsewhere!!!! I can not say 'Thank You' enough to JMV Tree Service. We were put in a very precarious situation where a winter storm had an extremely large, splitting tree teetering at the edge of a hill overshadowing our house. In panic, we called JMV and they were there within 15 min. I mean, how is that even possible - to get there that quickly? WOW! Within an hour, they had a full team and a crane ready. We were minutes away from having our main living and sleeping areas inhabited by 4 ft wide tree trunk/limbs. Yes, minutes and yes, very bad indeed. Our anxiety still races at the thought of how close we were. They skillfully* cleared the split tree, which was extremely hard as it was nestled between other trees on a hillside above our house.
