We hired these guys today to trim our palms, hedge, several large trees and also remove a tree. Their price was better than 2 other people we got a quote from AND they did the best tree trimming job our yard has ever seen. This was all done in super high wind conditions. Not only that, but Jose knows his shit! He fertilized our different trees and gave us tons of recommendations for getting our trees and grass in better shape. J&J has done the tree maintenance at my house for many years. I have 6 Mexican fan palms, 3 king palms, 2 coco palms, a dragon palm, 3 other yucca/palm varieties, 2 pygmy date palms and 4 Jacarandas. At least yearly, I have to have all the palms trimmed. These palms have been on property for 30+ years and have been growing and growing. Jose has been my go-to each time I need that tree work and its something that I have very frequently gotten other quotes for, which only because of this post, he now knows, my point being that each year when it comes time, he hasn't known that he has a competing bid. Its not just that his price has always been reasonable, but the care that is taken while the work is being done, the cleanup (including skimming the pool for any debris) and the efficiency in which the work is done is exemplary. This last time, Sept, I had decided to have the Mex fan palms skinned (it hadn't been done in 25 yrs, so it was a lot of linear footage on 40ft+ tall trees), have one removed (which was located in an area wedged between back of pool and fenceline), and removal of a 20ft giant bird of paradise. Some of this was the annual trimming but a lot was really big 1-time work. Jose walked the prop with me, discussed with me why I should or shouldn't do something or what I might defer relative to other work I'm having done at my house--all very thought forward as if it was his house/money. His price was very good and not that far from the other 2 bids I received, but once again, Jose brought a high level of quality to the work that was done. The crew arrived on time, took extra care to contain the resulting mess from getting into the pool (which is so important because too much mess in the pool leads to filter problems, etc), clean-up left everything even tidier than when they started. Both tasks required a careful mix of surgery, ballet, and acrobatics, but these guys pulled it off like it was nothing. Jose and his crew are prompt, professional, courteous,pleasant and efficient. I hired him to remove two trees, stumps and roots which he did to my satisfaction. He discovered several leaks in my sprinkler system and repaired them. Today, he did a major "clean up" of my yard. In the future, he will help revamp my front yard using drought-tolerant plants, river rock and bark. One important caveat: Be specific with regard to the services and to the products (i.e. mulch and the additional "labor" cost of spreading the mulch) PRIOR to agreeing to the work. I was really impressed with Jose and this tree service. He was very responsive via text and I had asked that we keep it contactless so we texted with any questions about the tree removal. Perfect. He took pictures when complete as I asked. When we went to see the work, you couldn't even tell there was a tree there. The area was cleaned up. Also great follow up. But Jose persisted and as he ground he found a steel pole in a cement base inside the tree! and so Jose ground that down also and pursued the roots and I think he beat the eucalyptus! Jose was very professional and responsive. We called on a Monday and he came out on Tuesday morning to give an estimate on trimming two Liquid Amber trees that hadn't been touched in 30 years. He immediately noticed the trees had worms and gave us a quote for trimming and treating them, as well as removing a dead apricot tree (including stump), and trimming some small palms in the yard. We decided to move forward and he came one week later with his crew. They were punctual and efficient and did an amazing job. Jose came by to view work and give me quotes in writting for details of each tree I wanted worked on, and when I decided to hire him, He and his crew, were on time, and did the work beyon what I thought was going to happen, a real artist with nature, and after wards all was cleaned and the whole feeling was one of joy and happiness . Not the lowest bid, but I was thrilled that they were knowledgeable about palms and used ladders and ropes instead of climbing up the tree with spikes which leave terrible holes in the trunk.
