I called and had an advisor come out to the house and looked at the 5 trees that needed trimming. An appointment was scheduled and the team showed up on time, even 10 minutes early. They completed the job in less than 3 hours. The trees now look like they should and the area has been thoroughly cleaned and looking better than whenthey arrived. If you want the best at a very reasobale price I suggest you call ProTrees and ask for Theron or Marci. Great people and responsive. read more

As far as I am concerned, the issue has been addressed to my satisfaction. My intention was just to be heard. I Would never want to hurt an honest business. Please just ask your staff to be mindful of neighbor's backyards. Best and luck and keep up the good work. They were working on my neighbor's trees on Wednesday, Sept 18. When I got home, they asked me for permission to clean up my backyard. I specifically told them there was a dog, showed them the front door, and asked them to knock on the door and wait for me. I emphasized that there was a dog and they shouldn't come in without letting me know. There is even a "Beware of the Dog" sign on the gate. They said they would do so in 5 minutes. A couple of minutes later I see someone in the backyard while the dog is running around. I shouted didn't I tell you to knock the front door first? The guy left. Since the dog didn't know what was happening, she got distracted and it took me some effort to bring her inside. I don't always come home at this time. Before littering someone's house, they need to check that they can clean up. The backyard was a complete mess. Had they left, it would have taken me some time to clean up. They dropped tree branches on my flowers, plants, and sprinklers. Anyone can cut trees without looking. If you are really professionals, you should be able to understand that you cannot just drop your trash wherever is more convenient for you. read more

Our association has used a number of tree trimmers. Each one: Has taken weeks. Done a "wackamo" job. Damaged property. Generally left a mess. I'm not sure who found Pro Trees. Thank goodness someone did. Pro trees did everything in 4 days. Yes, you read that correctly. You were responsible for making sure your car wasn't in the street. Besides that. They did it all! ProTrees showed up on time and I called them the POWER RANGERS.....8 of them, all in safety helmets, matching tops and ready to work! They worked together and even the owner, the arborist (Theron) was up in the trees. They knew how to prune without just chopping off the top, as most tree trimmers do. I hardly ever leave a bad review. But people need to know that this company will not back up their work. They take forever to come out and have a communication problem with their office manager. One says something and the Theron contradicts it. We had a partial dead hedge taken out by Pro Trees and 7 hedge plants put in. Well, they all died and now Theron blames us and didn't even offer to replace them---they are not that expensive. We over paid for this to begin with-- $2000-- and now we feel so burned. We just discovered that he planted the wrong color of escallonia ---so he didn't even try. It leaves people with a bad feeling when companies don't back up their work. So be careful with this company. The office manager told us they would replace these defective plants and Theron walked away saying it was our problem. If you read the other unhappy reviews, you will see the problems with the company. Pro Trees, despite very clear agreements, missed every appointment time, changed appointments to best fit their schedule, broke personal property with their truck and then refused to acknowledge their mistake, broke other plants, fences, landscape lighting and small trees on the property, showed up without proper and adequate crew and equipment, and tried to overcharge for the job. The actual laborers were mostly very good, but the owner Theron was very unreliable and not at all pleasant. I have numerous emails and communications to show just how undesirable it was to do business with Pro Trees. I advise anyone to steer clear. Terrible experience overall. They broke landscape lighting and failed to own up to the damage and/or repair what was broken. My view is to use an arborist for trees I care about. Pro Trees came out, educated me on my trees, including suggestions for things I could do. They provided a fair estimate, including work to come up to their minimum charge. They warned me up front that it would take some time for them to schedule a time. I was flexible with timing and they ended up coming sooner than expected. They did a great job trimming the trees, particularly a large juniper, removing bulk, opening things up while still maintaining a good appearance. I am very appreciative to have access to an arborist who willingly shares his knowledge, and suggests and educates. I'm also appreciative that they take small residential jobs. read more

I hesitate to post this review because everyone has an off day and based on the many positive online reviews (which is why I called Pro Trees in the first place) I would never have expected such poor customer service. I called Pro Trees for a bid and was scheduled a week out. In the meantime another company was able to come out and we were happy with their bid so went ahead and got the work done. I made sure to call Pro Trees and left a message saying that we had the work done and that I did not want to waste their time, so to please cancel the appointment to have the trees looked at. Apparently Pro Trees did not get this message before coming over to my house, which I completely understand happens. While I feel like I was respectful and even apologized that they came out when I no longer needed them (even though I had left a voice mail), the response was insulting to say the least. While this review is not for actual services, customer service is from start to finish so I feel a constructive criticism review is justified. ETA based on Theron's response: What I would expect is a reasonable response like "no problem, I didn't get your voice mail. Theron trimmed our very large cedar tree and so far it seems it has helped the tree survive. Theron is very knowledgeable, explains the reasons he prunes the branches, or digs out soil around the tree trunk, and other work. They are extremely busy and it can take time to make an appointment. I would say it is worth the wait if you need a professional arborist and not a slash and blow unskilled gardener. Theron gave great advice for a loquat tree in Carlsbad. He investigated it and provided solutions to improve the health of the plant. I used Pro Tress to trim queen palms. Had somewhat of a difficult time pinning them down on a specific date and time for the work. After a few false starts we were able to schedule a mutual date. Once the crew arrived, they did a good job on the trees - they were on time, did nice work and cleaned up well before they left. Theron has been pruning our Monterey Pine, citrus, and avocado trees for years. Mostly, I have native trees and shrubs that I've let grow a little wild. Pro Trees did a fantastic job! They cut down our 70' Star Pine. They were so quick and cleaned up everything..There weren't any remnants left over that we had to clean up or haul away. We just had installed a new retaining wall and we were worried about that, but they didn't even get close to it. They also trimmed 3 other trees on the same property for a great price! i recently had 15 palms removed. Three were in the back yard close to a swimming pool. I was concerned that we might have tree parts floating in the pool. They removed the pool fence and covered the pool area with tarps. there were no problems. The other trees were near the roof and again no damage. I was impressed with the professionalism of the workers. They cleaned up with no sign of them even being there, except no palms. At another property the trees were close to the neighbor's property. Not one of the fronds ended up on their property. Theron is extremely knowledgeable and explains the procedure in detail and welcomes questions. I called Theron on a Thursday. He said he would be in my neighborhood on Friday morning and said he would come by at 10:30. A few hours later I realized I had another appointment on Friday that conflicted. I left a message for Theron on Thursday afternoon, asking if we could move the appointment. When I did not hear back from him by 10:00 on Friday morning, I called again, told him I was headed to my house and that I would be there. I arrived home at 10:20 am. And then I waited and waited and waited. He never showed up. He never called back. Keep in mind he picked the original day & time to meet AND he had two voicemail messages from me. Unless he had a medical or family emergency, I can't imagine why he didn't call back. It's a poor way to run a business. I'll be contacting another arborist who wants my project. read more

My husband and I recently called Pro Trees because we thought we needed to get a very large Canary Date Palm trimmed. We had four different resources out to discuss it. Two of the companies tried to tell us the tree was diseased and we may lose it within a year or two. We were alarmed as this is a gorgeous, old and large palm. They also gave expensive bids for trimming the palm. Then Therin from Pro Trees came out. They are certified arborists and we learned how important that designation is with this experience. Therin was extremely knowledgeable and really took the time to explain things to us. Not only was our tree not diseased, (whew!) but Therin said it would be better for the tree to not trim it yet. How refreshing to have someone so honest and caring for the health of the tree that he turned away a paying customer. Theron worked me in between a couple of his regular clients and helped me out of a jam. During the high winds during Presidents Day weekend our big Acacia tree which had internal rotting, broke a large branch and then the tree fell against the house. Lucky it did not fall on our AC unit! His crew chief Robin and 2 other workers were careful and protected the gates and surrounding work area with tarps and were done in 40 min! After one of the huge storms in the late winter of 2020, my wife and I found ourselves in urgent need of an arborist to save our huge and tree-like bougainvillea which had completely toppled over. While Theron and crew did a fantastic job on all our trees a year ago, I was skeptical they would be able to help on an urgent basis as they are usually so much in demand. However, because of the urgency, we were thrilled that Theron was able to come out in a couple of days and then he and his crew fit us in the following week. They did a great job salvaging the basic frame of the plant and shaping the foliage and even managed to preserve some flowers for us to enjoy. And, furthermore, they also perfectly trimmed three of our tall palm trees. No damage to landscape lighting, tidy cleanup, respectful social distancing and face-mask wearing for COVID-19, and Rachelle in the office made everything smooth and easy. While he was at my house and giving me the estimate, he was also giving me some free advice about my plants and tree care. His work crew was very professional and always cleaned up when they were finished for the day. I've read that people are frustrated because of the time it took for Pro Trees to come out to do the work... well when you're THE BEST in the business that's what happens... your schedule fills up quickly! The staff at Pro Trees initially tells you an estimated date they think they can do the job. Throughout that scheduling process they communicate with you and then finalize the date with you as it gets closer. Yes, it took over a month for them to come and do the job, BUT IT WAS BEYOND WORH IT!!!! They did an EXCEPTIONAL job- they took down 4 trees for us, 3 of which were on very steep bank and they cleaned up our entire backyard- it was spotless when we got home. I stopped and chatted with the crew at a job site and they seem pretty good and knowledgeable but new to the company. Theron answered on my first call and set a tentative appointment for an estimate for the same day. Two days before Christmas. He made it thru traffic and looked at two properties and we talked until it was too dark to see. Work is scheduled for today and lets see how it goes.
