Oscar was professional, arrived on time for the estimate and the entire crew arrived on time at 7:00 AM each morning (as promised) to begin the work. Took them 2 1/2 days to trim our eucalyptus trees and clean up all the debris and they completed the job perfectly. I called Select on a Tuesday becuase the day prior my lemon tree had a huge supporting branch break and half the tree was now laying on the top of my hot tub. Oscar came out a couple of hourslater to take a look and give an estimate. I said yes and he said he wasn't sure they could do it that afternoon because they had anotger tree emergency, but they could come the next morning at 7:30 am Next morning he was there with two of his workers right at 7:30. They got right to work and we're done in about an hour and a half, being very careful how they cut the tree branches to take the tree out. They cleaned and swept when they were done. Like many homeowners I was recently dropped by my old insurance company and needed to get some work done or my new insurance company said they would drop my coverage. I needed a stump and dead brush removed. Oscar way overcharged me for the work he did. I requested a stump removal, and included a picture of the stump. He even wrote in the invoice that he would remove the stump. HE NOT ONLY DIDN'T REMOVE THE STUMP, HE DIDN'T REDUCE THE PRICE OF THE JOB. He did some brush removal, but as I said, I could have gotten this job done for half the price. After I raised the issue with him, he responded that he would NOT remove the stump and would not change the price of the job. I have hired Oscar and Select Tree service twice. The last time I had just purchased my home and there was a dead tree in the back as well as these bushes that took up a lot of my very small yard, so I had Oscar remove it all. That time, they were the lowest priced quote that I got by a good margin. They came out less than a week later and did a very good job and cleaned up all the mess. This time I called them back because I had another tree in my yard leaning over very significantly (due to this recent weather). I really wanted to save it, but I was afraid it would fall over soon. So Oscar made time in his schedule and was at my home within approximately 3 hours of me calling. This was a big deal to me, because I know they are swamped with this weather we have been having. Unfortunately about 10 minutes before he got here the tree fell over and we couldn't save it. But he gave me a reasonable quote for removal and had his guys come out the very next morning to remove it. They came on time, did a great job, and again cleaned up all the mess (very much appreciated). Luckily we had no damage because we moved everything out of the way when we saw it leaning. * I have security camera footage that proves beyond a reasonable doubt that my property was damaged by this company, also the company did NOT provide an insurance policy. The homeowner gave me his. Contractors need to have insurance for situations such as these* This company damaged by property when working for a neighbor. They denied responsability and failed to provide any documents such as proof of insuranxe, contractor lisence, or identification. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried to resolve the issue in a civil manner, but to no avail. Unfortunately me and the owner could not see eye to eye when assessing the damage. I have Video and Photographic proof of the damage being caused by their workers while working. Currently working on building a case to go through the courts. Once again, I have proof beyond a reasonable doubt and even had police show up and showed them the evidence. The damage: the roof of our outdoor shed is cracked (we bought and had it assembled this year.and have the receipts to prove it) The canopy of our gazeebo has been torn through by fallen branches. (Video proof of it happeneing aswell on Nov4th) Our fence was broken by fallen branches which they denied aswell. We tried calling the office but would not recieve a call back from the person working the phone. We left a voice mail prior to police arriveing. We will be going to court for this. Everything above is true to the best of my knowledge and I do not intend to misinform or misdirect anyone. This is a public service announcement. Wow, such a great experience. Oscar came within 24 hours to give an estimate cost to have two huge palm trees removed that were growing in a small 2 foot wide space situated between our 3 story house and a very tall fence. I honestly wasn't sure how they could cut these palms down in that small space without damaging anything. I chose this company because it is licensed and I knew the job would be tricky, Oscar assured me it was no problem. They arrived exactly on time the next day, not only did they cut those palms down perfectly but when I asked if they could cut down 20 massive giant bird of paradise trees - Oscar said yes, they could do that right then as well. We had a disturbing experience with Select Tree Service and Landscape a few weeks ago. My neighbor had this company come and trim his trees on December 12, 2023. We heard them outside when they arrived. We have a dog so we brought her in and we went about our morning doing stuff inside because we knew she would bark at them if we left the door open. Around 2pm our dog started barking like crazy at the door. We went over to see what she was barking at and found one of the tree trimmers standing in our raised bed planter box trimming my neighbor's tree. We were surprised because no one had come to our door to ask permission to enter our back yard and the gate can't be accessed due to the Christmas lights hanging on the fence. The only way they were able to get into my back yard was to hop over the fence. My security camera did catch them trying to open the gate but they could not, and they didn't have a ladder. I went out and asked them why didn't they ask permission to enter our yard and that I had a dog that could bite them. They basically said sorry and continued to trim from my raised bed garden. We were pretty upset and had to leave to pick up our kids. Before leaving, there was another crew member in my back yard cleaning up. Apparently, he had jumped the fence too. I went over to my neighbors and asked the crew the name of the company and called them. The lady that answered the phone was nice and professional and apologized and said she would have the owner (Oscar) call me. When I got home they were no longer there so I went to see if there was any damage in my back yard. Unfortunately, you could see where the crew had stepped on my plants and broke off the top of a lantern, I also found two of my plants broken off. I took pictures and I also a picture of the crew member standing in my planter. I checked out their reviews on Yelp and found a review from two years ago about a client's neighbor who had a similar situation and the outcome wasn't good. I didn't hear back from Oscar so I called again the next day around lunch time. The same lady answered the phone and told me that Oscar had tried to call. I had not missed any calls. A few minutes later Oscar finally called me back. I told him what had happened. First, he never apologized the entire conversation, he then told me it was the responsibility of my neighbor to let me know that they may have to come in my yard to clean up. He also said they had the right to come into my yard. That even meant jumping my fence to gain access. He also said that it was ok that his crew was using my raised garden to step on to trim my neighbor's tree. I asked him, "Are you serious?" He replied with a very serious "Yes". I asked him about using a ladder and he told me that they couldn't and had to use my raised garden. I told him there was room to use a ladder but he didn't care. I also told him I had a dog that could have bit his crew and they could have sued me. He said that he doesn't believe in suing people. I replied with the fact that he can't say that because you never know what people will do until a situation arises. Also, if one of his crew was injured in our yard, the company can't keep the employee from suing us. I told him about the damage and his response was that his crew told him that there was no damage. So basically, he didn't believe us. At this point I was so mad and in disbelief of how Oscar was handling the situation. He is so unprofessional. I had to ask him if he was going to fix the damage (he never offered or apologized) and he hesitantly said sure and to send him the pictures of the damage. That was on December 14th and I haven't heard anything since. I wanted to make you aware that if this company shows up at your neighbor's house, be prepared for them to come into your yard without permission (trespass). I gave Oscar a chance to make things right and got no response. This is a terrible company. read more
