As a regular (who lives down the street), everyone who works here is wonderful and super friendly. Going above and beyond with the Covid restrictions, I feel very comfortable stopping by to get a coffee to-go. Their cold brews are so good, I make cold brew at home and buy their beans. They even help grind the beans and even offer insight on how to better my blends. One of the better cold brews I've had, I personally don't add any sugar or simple syrup. It doesn't need it. This place is awesome! The staff were very nice and cracked a lot of funny jokes. My girlfriend got a drink she's never had before and they even offered to make a new drink for her on the house if she didn't enjoy it. It wasn't necessary though! I don't come here too often but this cafe usually has more open seating available than the more popular cafes on Walnut St like Starbucks or Coffee Tree Roasters. It's a small cafe with only about 5 or 6 tables. It's in a pretty good area with natural lighting that helps with getting work done. I ordered the 16oz earl grey tea, which was about $2.57. Jitters serves coffee and even icecream. I read some other reviews that they serve Dave and Andy's icecream but I didn't get the chance to look at their selection so I'll try to do that next time. The only inconvenience is that it's in an office building where there's a nail salon right next to it and can see through the glass windows. It just doesn't complete cafe vibes, which might distract some people. Also you need a password to access the bathroom downstairs. Overall, not a bad place to meetup with people or just study and get work done! read more

Can't find seats at a cafe to study in? This is a great cafe most likely with open seats!! It's a small cafe next to a nail salon. There are lots of windows which makes this a beautiful cafe for lots of natural lighting when there's sun out! They have a couple tables and a booth with outlets under them. They have a full cafe menu, pastries, and ice cream! I haven't had their coffee that often, but the couple times were average. But their pastries...They bake their cookies at the store and wow their CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES are amazing!! They offer to warm it up and it's absolutely delicious! The service is AWESOME, they're always so friendly and helpful! And the bathroom is downstairs & requires a code--ask the cashier for it. My friend and I both got oat milk lattes from here a week or so ago. The barista, although swamped with orders, was super helpful and friendly! Not to mention, the lattes were incredible. We had to pace ourselves from drinking them too fast, and are so excited to come back in the future. read more

Y'all, this is a great little open-concept cafe. They sell hot and cold drinks, pastries, oatmeal cups, and Dave & Andy's ice cream! The staff is the nicest, and they have a variety of "milks" to choose from. There's free wifi, and the place is nicely air conditioned. Or you can sit outside at the several tables and chairs. Great place for people watching, or else getting some work done. The signs aren't the most obvious--look for the round stickers on the windows in the corner building. I just came back from a visit to Jitters, and it has totally changed in layout from how it used to be two years ago. The counter, which used to be against the wall on the Negley side, is now across from the main door on Walnut. I think the new layout is a lot better and more intuitive. While the space is bright, clean, and welcoming, it's quite small, only containing six tables plus a few lounge chairs inside. I ordered a small cinnamon-cardamom herbal tea, and it was served nice and hot. I didn't add anything to my tea, but condiments and napkins can be found across from the barista's stand where you order. I also wanted a snack, so I decided to get a potato chip cookie, since (1) it looked the most appealing and (2) it sounded interesting! It was saltier and crispier than a regular cookie, but was still also sweet, and had a drizzle of chocolate icing on the top. While I liked the sweet-salty combination, I would have preferred for it to have been a bit sweeter to offset the extra salt--if there had been more icing, it would have been perfect. It was definitely different and interesting, and worth a try, though! Before I ordered, I overheard the barista saying to other customers that she didn't know where the baked goods that they sell come from, which didn't sit well with me. (If you read the other Yelp reviews, you'll see that they come from Prantl's.) Employees should be informed about the product they're selling. Having said that, she did describe the potato chip cookie accurately, which partially redeemed her. read more

Foam off the chis-ang! I apologize for Snoop Doggifying my lingo, but it is really that good. I got a Hazelnut Latte - a safe and boring choice - that proved wise. I get a lotta lattes so this made for a good basis for comparison. Two thumbs way, way up. The cinnamon scone was also perfectly crisp on the outside with a nice moist center. The atmosphere is definitely unique. It's not actually an enclosed cafe. It shares the space with some offices and shops and the bathroom is downstairs guarded by a door combination. However, it was a bright, clean, and tasty alternative to Starbucks. Which is something I can always get behind. Jitters is especially a good place to get some work done because there's free wifi and outlets galore. Definitely worth a trip to Walnut to check out. read more

One of my favorite non-chain coffee shops in Pittsburgh. It is a small venue, yet there are usually some seats and tables open. However, I did have a lapse in judgment when I visited in the middle of the World Cup. They have a television set on one of the walls, so the place was packed; all the tables taken, seats being shared, and people standing, all fixated at the game. Anyways, their espresso drinks are great, their ice creams are heavenly, and their staff are very warm and nice. They provide free Wi-Fi, but the password changes occasionally. You need to ask the barista for the password. Speaking of which, the bathrooms also require a key code to enter, and they are different for the male and female bathrooms. Again, ask the baristas for these all-access passes. Overall, a great place to meet with friends, clients, your visiting relatives, or your next door neighbors. It's also quiet enough to do some studying; however, their choice of music may be distracting occasionally. Bring some headphones just in case. read more

Sorry folks, I'm not a fan. When out with my family we decided to get something frozen for a treat. The one good thing about this place is that it serves Dave & Andy's ice cream. But that is possibly the only good thing about the place. There is no order in here. Especially with three possible ways to enter. The proper entrance at the front of the building, the side entrance or if and when the doors are open, walk right through the front of the store. With that, no one seems to know where the line starts, if there is a line at all for service. What should take just a few minutes to order your item easily turns into a good ten to fifteen minute wait staring down the person that just cut in front of you and several other people. The pricing seems a bit high here too. For two scopes of ice cream the cost was equivalent to going to a frozen yogurt place and getting a cup filled with not only frozen goodness, but mixture items as well. The place is nicely set up, but it does feel a bit crowded in here. read more

Quiet little spot at the end of Walnut street and my fav spot for doing a little work! I always get the same order of a cup of coffee, but all the other drink options look yummy as well! I'd say this falls into the category of solid but unspectacular in pretty much every conceivable way. I had a bagel, which was ok. The seating was ok. I spent some portion of the time outside, which is nice when there is a bit of cloud cover. It is a short walk to some other places. And Shadyside is a great neighborhood to walk through. I got a caramel latte and it was absolutely perfect. Due to the current environment, the indoor seating is obviously closed off but there are a couple two person tables outside. We love a good ice cream date even if it's 10°. luckily Jitters is not only ice cream, but a coffee shop as well. We came here Monday night about 15 minutes before closing time. The gentleman helping us was very kind even though he was closing down the shop. The coffee shop near my house gives attitude 1 hour before closing lol. I appreciated this guy's kindness. I went with the mint chocolate chip chunk on a sugar cone. My boyfriend went with the birthday cake. After looking at my delicious cone, he decided to add mint chocolate chunk on top of his cone. The ice cream used is Dave & Andy's... always good! (and they take cards unlike D&A) They had a full menu of coffee goodness.. everything from coffee, espresso, chai ect. We passed on the coffe (it had looked like the guy just washed the coffee stuff,, didn't want to be a pain) We sat in the shop to enjoy our ice cream. Other folks were there working. This seems like the poppin place to do work on your laptop. Anyways we really enjoyed the ice cream and the vibe here. We are extreme coffee and ice cream fans. Given that there are so many coffee shops in Shadyside, competition is fierce. This one was a little disappointing! Although my coffee was good (not bad, but not special), the atmosphere wasn't conducive to getting any work done. It was very loud, and the nail salon next door is all glass so you can see right through. I just found it to be a little odd! They have a few minimal pastries. Jitters is a nice coffee place in Shadyside. It's smaller than Coffee Tree Roasters, but the coffee is pretty good. It takes a while to make each order, as they are made individually. They had some nice coffee options other than black (I'm really not a coffee drinker so I'll take the fancier stuff please!). I went here on a late Monday morning on a day off. We also ordered bagels because I didn't have anything in the house to eat and I was too lazy to walk to Bruegger's. I'd stay away from these types of treats; they are cheap but it's basically Giant Eagle bagels in a bag. I took the order to go and they just toasted it there and dumped it in the bag with a small tub of cream cheese. Nothing wrong with that, but you might as well go to Bruegger's for a real bagel and cream cheese. They also serve ice cream and I look forward to coming back and trying that out. I might revise my review after I try the ice cream. I wasn't in love with Jitters the way some people were, so I don't want to rate it poorly, but I'd give it a three for indifference. read more

I love this cute little cafe in Shadyside! They have an amazing Iced London Fog drink, which is essentially Earl Grey tea with milk and cinnamon dusted on top. They also serve a nice selection of ice cream, which they source from Dave & Andy's. I've also brought work to do here before because they have free wifi. Blessed with Commonplace Place coffee in Squirrel Hill, I often wonder how the people in Shadyside make it. I think Jitters is probably the best option within Shadyside, but it is not my favorite coffee shop by any stretch. I ordered a hot chocolate and a blueberry muffin on my most recent trip. Both were good and enjoyable, and I would come back and get either of these to go. The atmosphere is just not good, though. There are only five tables, and most are packed with wifi hogs. On top of that, the busy hallway leading to the rest of the building goes right through Jitters making it feel chaotic. The employee working was very friendly, but it didn't make up for the lack of atmosphere. Overall, Jitters is good for a quick coffee to go. read more

Big fan! First time i have ever been to this place, and the milkshake I got was delicious. My mother also got a frozen coffee, and I think I wound up drinking all of it for her. The cookies that were there also were great. I am not sure whether they cooked them there fresh or not, but they were delicious. Very nice ! Very friendly and helpful . The coffee was really really good (I roast and really appreciate a good cup.) Danish and breakfast croissants were very fresh . Coffee hot and not too strong. The gentleman that took my order was so nice , made suggestions and helped me with fixing my husbands coffee. I left here with a smile . Lots of regulars , which says allot. I generally hate flavored coffees, but I always enjoy the flavored coffees here, especially the Hazelnut and Coconut when they are featured. The remodel makes the place much more inviting than it was in the past, and I love going in the mornings and seeing all the regulars. It's definitely comparable to Coffee Tree Roasters a few storefronts down, and definitely better than Starbucks. Fun spot for studying I would imagine, but those days are behind me thank goodness. read more

Oh how I love this place! I stop in early every morning on my way to work at UPMC. The coffee is hands-down the best in a neighborhood with plenty of other options. They also carry some tasty baked goods (especially the muffins), all at reasonable prices. My favorite coffee shop on Walnut St. Most of the folks in there are regulars who greet each ohter by name. I did my job search there this winter so I was in daily and I too, got to know everyone there. The coffee is great, the staff is friendly, and they have free wireless. One day I couldn't get the wireless to work and the guy who does their IT just happened to be in the shop, and not only did he set my wireless up for me (which he didn't have to do), he also fixed my computer which he REALLY didn't have to do. This place has a warm, friendly, welcoming environment and is a lot quieter that hte coffee tree. It is my fave coffee shop! The also serve ice cream, and have outdoor seating which is perfect for summertime. read more

Best kept secret on Walnut street! Whenever I want to study at a coffee shop, I always end up at Jitters. While Coffee Tree Roasters across the street always seems to be full, I can always find a table at the much-smaller Jitters. Their coffee, especially their dark roast, is fantastic. They have different brews every time I visit and they have all been wonderful. Jitters also sells food and ice cream which is nice if I want something to eat as well when I'm doing work. I normally base my opinion of a coffee shop on the quality of the cold brew. Unfortunately, there is no place on Walnut St. that sells a decent cold brew, and Jitters is no exception. Too bitter, too dark, tastes just like iced coffee. HOWEVER-The staff is top notch (seriously, Cesar and Owale are neighborhood celebrities, practically) the ice cream is excellent, and the espresso drinks are decent. The lines are rarely ever too long, so this can often be the fastest place to get a cup while shopping nearby. For cold brew, go to Espresso A Mano, Redhawk or Caffe D'amore instead- but Cesar can make you a killer iced latte, handmade to order. read more
