AWESOME place to get a new pair of glasses! They carry Asian Fit frames. I am hard to fit b/c I have high cheekbones and a small bridge. I immediately found a pair of glasses! The man (?Jimmy) was extremely knowledgeable and helpful! No pressure , he didn't try to sell me anything extra. They can do lenses too, but I need to update my prescription so I only bought the frames. The frames are plastic with a high built in bridge. I don't have to worry about adjusting the nose pads when they get bent from wear, and you don't see the nose bridge either. Thank you! read more

I visited Jimmy's Optical because it was listed as an authorized Oakley dealer and I decided I was willing to plop down some serious money for some prescription Oakley sunglasses. I'd gotten a case of sunglass-envy after admiring all the cool sporty looking sunglasses on the runners I'd see out and about. See, the thing about prescription sports sunglasses is that you're paying for the super duper lenses. The frames themselves are normal prices. It's the lens that puts you over the edge. For example, I got a pair of Oakley Half Jacket Asian Fit frames for $135. That's about what you'd expect to pay for a pair of Oakley's. But with the polarized, non-scratch, shatterproof, hydrophobic, bulletproof* lens, the price suddenly inflated to $473. Jimmy saw the shock on my face when he quoted me that insane price and he was really helpful. He let me know he could lower the price by doing the lenses in-house. He also mentioned if I really wanted to save money, I could go to an Oakley outlet and get a discontinued pair and then he could do the lenses. Ultimately, I decided I would go all out with this purchase and I went with the Oakley frame with the pricey Oakley lenses. I want to warn other future Oakley owners that just because they offer all these awesome customizations on their website doesn't mean they are all available. My little heart was broken when I heard the Emerald Green lens was no longer an option. The Green Girl with non-green sunglasses? I mean what has the world come to? They also give you an option to engrave but I found out after I placed the order that I couldn't get my personalized engraving. I don't understand why because they were certainly capable of engraving their trademark 'O'. Jimmy understood my disappointment and he added a complimentary coating of non-glare on the inside the non-Emerald Green lenses. I also appreciated the fact that Jimmy let me know there was no reason for me to spend extra money on the case. Jimmy gets 4 stars but Oakley gets 3 because they need to be more consistent. * Unfortunately, that was an exaggeration and they are sadly, not bulletproof. read more

Jimmy's Optical was recommended by Tak Shimazaki, O.D. Decades ago, and Jimmy's Optical always delivers. Jimmy knows eyewear backwards and forwards. Most recently, after this year's annual exam, the decision was to hold off on new glasses until after cataract surgery. As soon as I got home, the left earpiece broke. Options were sending the glasses out for a process that would take several days or Jimmy would look for earpieces that might work for the short term for a quicker, less expensive repair. Jimmy found earpieces that worked perfectly (with some slight, expert modifications) and the glasses fit even better than before! Jimmy was a lifesaver!! I went to two other optometrists and a jewelry store to see if they could fix my cheap Chinese Izod glasses that had snapped at the bridge. I was told a number of excuses and was stuck with my beat up old backup pair of Transition glasses until I could find a replacement. (The transition film was cracking too so it was really foggy looking out of those glasses.) After walking in to Jimmy's shop (right next door to Curry House) he helped me pick out a replacement frame, popped the still good lenses out of my Izods and within 15 minutes, I had a new pair of glasses! I chose a shade which I thought was dark, but it wasn't and brought it back for adjustment. Jimmy's is a family owned and operated optical store that has such a wide range of styles and brands to choose from. You can find Oakley, Ray Ban, Gucci, Prada, Kaenon, and many other brands for both sunglasses and frames. The prices are fair and the service is more than dependable! I've never had a bad experience or have been unhappy with the products that I have purchased. I even still have the very first pair of glasses that I purchased! The employees are more than knowledgeable about the products they sell; they can even tell you some of the history of some of the brands. They will honestly and more than willingly help you find the right pair of frames or sunglasses to match you and your personality. I really appreciate the fact that they don't try to feed you some BS or lie to you to try and get you to buy the most expensive frame or item. My eyeglass frame stem broke off at the hinge, and the whole spring hinge had to be replaced. I called many opticians in the area, but none could do it, except Jimmy. I took the frame there, and found that Jimmy was very gracious and knowledgeable. He told me exactly how he'd repair it, and even offered me a replacement frame to put the lenses in.
