    i am new to vsp and called to make an appointment for an exam for contact lens. the front desk…read morestaff were all really nice, over the phone and in person. they called prior to my appointment to give a friendly reminder. dr au and his staff were all very professional. my exam look about 30m dr au was pretty personable. recommended that i purchase pataday eye drops for my red eyes which are caused by allergies. the only thing is that i was not made aware of was the contact fitting fee, which is $60. when i called to make the appt, the gal provided my co pay amount and the allowance for contacts under my vision insurance. this is why i always opt out of vision insurance bc it costs less for me to pay out of pocket for contacts than to pay for vision insurance twice a month + copay + contact fitting fee + difference of what my insurance covers for contacts, which is about $100 more. so basically i am paying double this year. other than not disclosing the contact fitting fee..the visit was good. parking: plenty of parking.

    Tried this small optometry office for an eye exam. The ophthalmologist that I went to for 12 years…read morefor an eye/vision exam retired so decided to try out this place... First of call when I called to make an appointment the young lady that answered was very curt and rushed. It was like being at a trivia night. When I got there the day of my appointment she stated that she didn't have any appointment scheduled at that time. I gave her my name and she stated she tried calling me to confirm the appointment and that I gave her the wrong number... so it was my fault she rushed when making my appointment and didn't reback the number to confirm she heard it correctly... which is receptionist duties 101. Waited a bit to see the OD because people walked in whike i was completing the paperwork so they were seen first. Once in the exam room the optometrist started the exam and he was thorough but he never explained what he was doing and just gave me instructions.. or never explained what each part of the exam was for which is what im use to. He did say my eyes were "pretty beat up" and I dont think I'll ever find that diagnosis in any medical book. The opthalmic machine looked old and it was sticky on my forhead asa lean my head on it. The eye paddle I was given to over my eye was also sticky. He told me not to touch my eye to it .... At no point did I see anyone cleaning or disinfecting anything with wipes. He did use a new machine to measure eye pressure that doesn't use a puff of air. After spending a long while going back and forth on the machine trying to get the correct prescription ... because the machine would blurr ... not sure what the issue was but it was frustrating and left the office with a prescription i didn't feel too confident with. Usually I get really nice frames and go all out. but ordered some inexpensive ones online to make sure the prescription worked for me. Not sure ill come back next year.
