If 3 stars is average service, I would give this place 2 stars. COVID protocol is good. Dr. Imamoto was friendly and helpful. However, the assistant who was with me to choose my glasses frames was less than helpful. Makes me want to never come back here for glasses again. I went to Dr. Imamoto because she accepts Medi-Cal. They informed me that Medi-Cal glasses are very basic (no AR, anti-glare, scratch resistance, or anything like that), so I decided to buy another pair out of pocket. I got 2 pairs of glasses--a pricey pair and a free Medi-Cal pair. The glasses + lenses were quite expensive and I was put off by the price (I've never paid more than 100 for brand name frames) but I thought it might be worth it to splurge if the quality was going to be good. The total came out to be a little over $500. I was later told by others that I'd been thoroughly ripped off, but I take that as my own fault for not doing the research. What made me give 2 stars, though, is the below average customer service by the assistant(?) (I don't know her job title, so please correct me if I've got it wrong). When I went in to pick up my second pair of (Medi-Cal) glasses, I also asked if I could have my first pair adjusted, as they were a bit loose. When I got my glasses back, there was a large scratch on them. I assumed that the assistant's long, bright orange nails were the cause, but I can't say for sure what it was. I was a bit alarmed when I saw her handling glasses and touching lenses with those nails. She offered to send my frames back to the lab to get new lenses(which I'm not really impressed with; this is the bare minimum you should do in this situation). Only when I stood up to leave, she gave me a light "sorry". I came back after a week to pick up my glasses. I felt a bit dizzy wearing them, which was weird because they should be the same prescription. I looked at my frames and noticed they were tightened so far that they almost looked like a caret (the ^ symbol). I figured that since I wasn't looking through the lenses straight-on, it could be messing with my vision. I returned the next day to ask to have them loosened. When I got them back, I noticed the right lens was popping out of the frame. Now I have to wait longer to wear these glasses because they're sending them back to the lab again. I resent having deal with this trouble(multiple trips back) through no fault of my own. I also resent that the assistant seems to feel little to no remorse. From my perspective, she doesn't seem to be putting too much thought or care about the customers or her job. I am upset that I am receiving the negative effects of that. It makes me regret ever coming here to buy my glasses. I do not feel good about paying over $500 for these glasses after all of this. After this is resolved, I don't think I'll be coming back for my next pair as long as that assistant is working there. It's a shame, because my experience with Dr. Imamoto herself was fairly positive. read more

My family recommended that I call and make an appointment to see Dr. Imamoto and have my eyes checked out since it's been years. This was my first eye exam in years and I didn't know what to expect and what has changed but the staff there was super nice and explained everything to me so I felt at ease and comfortable. Dr. Imamoto is easy to talk with and will hear you out about any concerns/questions you may have. I've been going to her ever since my first appointment & I would recommend giving her a visit if you need eye care help. If you need computer glasses that'll block blue light, prescription glasses, or sunglasses her office has a nice variety so you'll definitely find a pair that you'll love. Fyi: They also provide a 2 fl. oz bottle of anti-reflective safe eyeglass/sunglass cleaner for $5. If you ever run out of the solution just bring that same bottle back, and if you left it at home go get it because the refill is just $1! read more

Dr Imamoto is a very nice and informative doctor. Always willing to explain different options for what you may need. The business has Covid protocols in place. So you will need to make an appointment, then when you do go in for your appointment, you will have your temp checked at the door first. There will probably only be 2 customers at a time at most. I visited Dr. Imamoto for the first time today and I am so glad I found her! She is as good as it gets! She is extremely friendly, made me feel comfortable and she made my cheeks sore from laughing at her funny stories. She is truly a gem! The office smells magical and her receptionist has a wonderful, calming personality as well. I felt confident that I was in good hands with Dr. Imamoto and I am happy to make her my new optometrist! Her office is conveniently located to me, which is a plus and it also seems to be centrally located in Gardena, making it easy for anyone to get to her. Really great experience!!! very friendly staff, & good COVID protocol! the doctor that saw me helped break down my insurance to me (after informing her this was my first year as an independent). she made me feel safe & heard. she had no problem answering all of my questions, and I do feel like she did her best to ensure I was utilizing my insurance in a way that most benefited me. she gave me a few pairs of contacts to take home as well. will definitely be back & would definitely recommend! read more

I dropped by this place randomly because I was to lazy to drive all the way to the place where I bought my sunglasses. They needed some adjusting the leg was so loose it was swinging back and forth. The people here treated me soo well they kindly asked if I bought them there and didn't hesitate to help me when they found out I hadn't. They fixed the glasses and adjusted them until I was fully satisfied and didn't charge me a dime even though I was prepared to pay. Thank you guys for the stellar service! I was recommended from Dr. Miyamotos office . Dr.Imamoto was great and her office is very clean and covid free measures are being implemented. She is very personable and immediately made us feel comfortable. The only reason I did not give 5 stars are because of the assistant. She lacked personality and selecting our eye-ware felt pressured when she has to pick the glasses, sits there to watch you try them on , the mirror was small and if you don't like any set of glasses, she will grab another set while looking a bit annoyed. I use to enjoy looking at the selection on my own, trying on as many pairs as needed to make sure I was content with my selection. That is not the case here .. I left unsure about my choice , felt pressured and to later get a call that her measurements she took were not accurate for the pair of glasses I picked ... overall great office and great service if front office lady was friendlier I'd rate it all 5! read more

If you're looking for an eye doctor, look no further!!!! Dr. Imamoto is incredibly kind and puts you at ease. The staff, technicians and nurses are so nice! So.. where do we begin I randomly walked in and asked if they took my insurance and they informed me that they did so I picked out a pair gave them my prescription and came back in a week and that's where things went awry during the adjusting of my glasses the girl broke them I laughed and figured well it happens they promised they would expedite them and I left feeling okay about it so a week goes by no one calls me and this is where it gets bad so I call and I'm like what's going on I was out of town for work and told them I would come and pick them up I do and I loved past-tense the glasses 2 weeks in the lenses feel weak and their about to pop so I went in today the woman did mention to bring them back but the girl rolling her eyes in the chair makes me feel like it's not worth it anymore I can go somewhere else pay out of pocket and probably get treated better I'm over it and I won't go back if you have insurance contact you're provider and find solutions but avoid this place I'm so disappointed and dissatisfied I just threw them back in the case and ordered another pair somewhere else the optometrist I met briefly and spoke to on the phone once believe me it's not worth it read more

Dr. Imamoto and her staff are wonderful! I used to see another Dr. at this same location and was considering going somewhere else when my contact prescription was over because he was a bit aggressive and arrogant. But I went one day and there was Dr Imamoto, friendly and patient. She actually had to adjust my prescription because I couldn't see clearly enough to function at work. She explained in detail how mono vision with contacts works and I left with a better view. Staff is also friendly and knowledgeable. read more
