UPDATE: I made an appt with Sienna in the OC office. I was able to book within a few days. She apologized repeatedly for the incident with the other receptionist. She was super sweet, professional and took the time to see if I had vision insurance. On the day of my appointment, I arrived early and was helped right away. Very minimal "paperwork" on an Ipad and a few test on the machines before seeing the doctor. Dr. Risco was extremely welcoming, super professional, patient and spoke "plain English" when going over my diagnosis. She was super sweet and made me feel extremely comfortable. She also apologized profusely for the incident and vowed to talk with her staff. If you are considering booking an appointment don't think twice about it. read more

I have been going to this Costco Optical for years, today I was greeted by a receptionist that really knows how to piss a good loyal customer off! Why ask me for a contact len receipt from next door when I am a loyal customer to your optimist? Your prodigal needs to be magnified to this receptionist. If I wasn't a customer I would consider asking some questions to me, but that was not the case. I told the receptionist that I am a regular customer before she asked me any questions, but still she was asking for a receipt that I ordered contacts. My contacts won't arrive for a week I told her, so I need an emergency pair today. Making the customer wait longer is cool to you? Disappointing experience with billing and customer service. When I called to make an appointment, they asked for my insurance and other personal information to check that I was in-network. They confirmed I was in-network and we scheduled the appointment for the following week. The appointment was fast and easy. However, I realized I was billed higher than what my co-pay is listed on my insurance plan. I called their office the following day and had to leave a voicemail explaining that I was overcharged and requested a callback. When they returned my call at the end of the day, they said they were calling to help me schedule a new appointment, which made it clear they had not actually listened to my voicemail. I asked them why they charged me more than my copay and they quickly explained that the higher charge was because they used a "new machine" on me during my appointment. I never agreed to a "new machine" and wasn't told they were using it or that they would charge me extra. But then they put me on a long hold and when they came back on the phone, they changed their reason to say that they are actually not in-network. This office misled me when I first made my appointment and then they misinformed me about why they overcharged me. This deceiving tactic left me no choice but to cancel my next appointment. It is wrong to confirm a patient is in-network and then change it when it comes to billing time. Feels very scammy which is why I can't recommend this practice to anyone else. read more

I had a good experience here yesterday when I came into this office as a first-time customer. Conveniently located inside Costco, the entire process was very quick. I arrived for my same-day appointment and filled out a one-page form before doing some eye scans/tests. Dr. Wong was patient, thorough, and had a very calming presence. I would like to thank the staff at Costco optical for taking care of my daughter who had an emergency where she open her eyes and saw dark cloudy vision. She was terrified that she was losing her vision. It was a Sunday afternoon when it is so busy but when I called the office and told them what was happening she said that sounded like an emergency and I presumed she spoke to the Optometrist. She came back and said to bring her in immediately. They took pictures of her eyes and said the inside off eyes look normal but some test were not normal in the eye affected. She advised that she should go see a neurologist. Went to our primary doctor who looked at the test and Refered her to a neurologist. Thank you for the immediate care . I have been going to Dr Diane for several years and she is absolutely the best Optometrist I have found. She not only takes whatever time is necessary for your exam, but she is extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of eye care and eye health. The other associates in her office are pretty good for eye exams, but they don't have Diane's level of experience...yet. If you have a problem with your eyesight, she'll have the best answer you can get. I might have had an issue with one or two of her office staff over the 10 years I've been going there, but there's a reasonable turnover and if you had a bad experience in the past, give it another shot. Office staff have bad hair days, just like all of us do time to time. But if that's a regular thing, they generally get fired or just move on. read more

My contacts prescription have been expired and never find the time to go to my regular eye doctor in dtla. Since I took the day off and running errands including going to Costco. Also, I have to go to a wedding in 2 weeks and needed contacts to look nice of course. As I was heading out, what the heck, might as well go in and ask for the soonest appointment they have and the office was able to see me in 30 minutes. Filled 2 pages of intake forms and was seen right away instead. Got my eyes checked and tried on trial contact lens. I was able to keep the extras so I have contact lenses for the wedding right away while put in an order online. Dr. Clark is extremely nice and professional. Answered all my questions since I am also considering Lasik. It was an easy breezy experiences I have and it's inside Costco. Also, $99 is the best deal without insurance and they do accept most insurances also. Straight forward pricing and excellent customer experiences. For those needing glasses, it right outside. For someone like me, going to Costco is almost a weekly ritual so this is really convenient! read more

I've been seeing Dr. Risco for my contacts for the last 7 years with the exception of 1 year when I got my contacts through my college. I ended up developing an allergic reaction to the contacts I received through my school and took a break from contacts for a few months. When I returned to Dr. Riscoe, she made sure to give me several different pairs of lenses to try out. I went with the lenses I was previously using and haven't had issues since. My yearly visit is always pretty quick and smooth. She's very sweet and personable, and takes the time to make conversation to get to know you a little bit. Went in for a eye exam and Dr. Marian Masoud got me in and out very quickly. I typically avoid any places with doctors if possible but thought it was time to replace my lenses and frames cause they've been abused for a while. Dr Masoud was very quick at finding a suitable prescription while making me feel very comfortable! She's the absolute best! Hands down the customer service I've ever experienced. I've been a patient there for two years and will never go back again. Employees are incompetent & rude. If you're looking for someone who is friendly and helpful, find another place. Strike #1: After my first appointment I needed my glasses prescription faxed to me. I called and requested it 5 times before finally having to physically drive to the store to find out that they didn't do a glasses exam during my last eye exam. Funny, considering I requested & paid for a glasses prescription along with my contacts prescription. Strike #2: Traffic on the 405 got in the way of my 2nd yearly appointment, and I called to say I would be a few minutes late. I was the last appointment of the day, a 7:00 pm appointment, and I didn't think it would be an issue since they told me they are open until 8:00 pm. However, they said that if I arrived even one minute past 7:00 pm it would be impossible for the doctor to see me, because the doctor needs to leave at 7:15 pm every day. I explained my extenuating circumstances, that I had to take time off of work for this appointment and accounted for traffic, but the traffic was worse than expected. I even explained that I couldn't get another time off of work to come again. The front desk employee could care less, she wanted to get home, and she wasn't even willing to ask the doctor if she could make an exception. In a world where optometrists are a dime a dozen, I would recommend finding someone who cares about their patients. read more

I am down at my moms place in LA this weekend and I wasnt doing anything on this Friday night, so I decided to get my eyes checked out. Im blind as a bat without my spectacles and my night vision is getting worse....especially driving so I need an update on my prescription. I called on Thursday and they had an appoitment open for 7pm Friday evening so I grabbed it. I arrive a few minutes early and since it was my first time there they make you fill out some paperwork. 5 minutes later out comes Dr. Risco. Guys....highly recommended. Very easy on the eyes if you catch my drift. (Im not supposed to say that because Im engaged but if I were a single man and went in here I would smile and be at ease.) She takes me into the room and shuts the door. Then some Barry White comes on and she lights a candle. She has me sit in the chair and asks me to take off my..............glasses people........glasses........its ONLY an eye exam. Barry White was all in my head....crazy voices are sometimes there too. Anyways.......she checks out my eyes and says they look fine. My prescription just needs a little adjusting. She writes me a new prescription and Im out the door. Total elapsed time in the office=15 minutes. Total cost for the exam=$49 bucks. Cant beat that at all. If you need an eye exam please come here. You dont need a Costco card either. 5 stars for excellent service and price! read more

Being able to trust your optometrist with your eyes can give you a lot of piece of mind. They had me take off my contacts before my exam started, and I could not see a thing so when Dr Clark was asking me questions I kept squinting one eye shut to try to see her. She probably thought I was weird(and she's right), but was too polite to say anything. I felt really helpless not being able to see, and then I realized how nice it is to have finally found Drs Risco, and Clark who are very trustworthy and conscientious. I was able to get an appointment within one day, and I got a contact exam and glasses prescription for $89. I've seen Dr Risco 3 times in the past and both she and Dr Clark are very warm, professional and caring. I've gone to an optometrist at another Costco before and he was less than professional in his attitude and gave me an inaccurate prescription that gave me headaches. Also, unlike some private optometrists who own the optical department, they don't try to push expensive glasses or contacts on you. They really care about the health of your eyes as well, and they can take images of the inside of your eye to look for abnormalities. I would highly recommend them. read more

Maybe the doctor is good but the optical department where glasses and contacts are dispensed is horrible. They don't order the lenses when they say they will, the lenses take forever to come in, they don't answer their phones, and they don't call the patient when the lenses are available for pickup. I found Dr. Risco through yelp, so I thought I'd leave my feedback. I have been to several optometrist and never been happy with them until I came to Dr. Risco's office. It seems odd to me that there are bad reviews about tue staff, they were very professional and kind to me during my visit. They all made sure to explain all the tests and procedures that were going to be performed and they were all very kind as well. When I was called in to see Dr. Risco, she made sure to ask and find out what my issues and concerns were with my vision. She explained the probable causes of some of my issues very thoroughly and the solutions to improve my vision. She reviewed all my results and explained why I was having my issues and gave me a prescription for glasses and her recommendations for my next visit. Above all, I would HIGHLY RECCOMEND DR. RISCO & ASSOCIATES to any one!!!! Tip: make sure to set an appointment before you come, they accept walk-ins but whenever I drop by their office is pretty busy, so I would suggest that you make an appointment before coming in! read more

Dr. Risco's services were excellent. I came in with a complaint about the most recent check-up and eyeglasses prescription which I had at Lenscrafters, and she got me a spot-on new prescription. Costco's lens-making service is not a one-hour service, but the results were worth the wait. I made a 500-mile trip with my new glasses, and was very impressed with how clearly I saw the road before me. Dr. Risco was completely pleasant and competent, and I feel blessed to have learned of her from my fellow Yelpers. Thank you, Dr. Risco, and thank you to the Yelp community. They will try to get you in without an appointment, but appointments are preferred and you may have a long wait as a walk-in if no one cancels. Great! Doc D. and staff are great. I trust her completely. Best of the hundred or so eye Dr.'s I've had... She got my contact prescription perfect. This review is only for the examination part of my visit. So far, it's been 50/50 on eye glass fitting part of the visit (different people do the initial fitting). I will say this though, they may not always get it right the first time, but they do get it right. As far as Dr. Risco goes though, she knows her stuff. She's the best. Dr. Risco is the best eye doctor out there, in my opinion. She is gentle, caring, and her soft spoken manner makes you feel at ease. To tell you just how much I love her, I work for an optometrist but go see Dr. Risco every year for my annual exam. That is how great she is! I have horrible eyesight and am blind as a bat without my glasses, but Dr. Risco never makes me feel bad about my vision or that there is no hope for me. She is very positive and encouraging. Inside the Hawthorne COSTCO. . . .I had a very pleasant experience. I called in because I needed an urgent appointment. They were booked solid but told me I could walk in and see if the Doctor could squeeze me in. They apparently have two doctors there, but only Dr. Risco was there when i went. . . . So, a client was late and she got me in after about 30 minutes wait there. I got my eyeglass and contact prescription. She was very pro and very clear on all my options and very fast. They get a lot of patients through there quickly (which may be a negative if you believe time spent with patient equals quality care). I think appointments are set every 15 minutes. Flyin! The office is located inside of COSTCO. Dr. Diana Risco is very friendly and considerate, and the prescription she writes is accurate. Her staff are great too! Eye Exam and Fee: Contact Lens Fitting/Prescription package comes with Eye Exam/ Glasses Prescription. The fees are clearly written on the wall, and there is no hidden cost. It was like a half the price of other eye doctor that I have been to. I am telling you, again, that the Dr. Risco's prescription is accurate. How do I know that? The other Doctor whom I had to go (due to my insurance change) simply copied my expiring Rx that Dr. Risco has written for me. Prescription: Dr. Risco usually have a patient try at least 2 different contacts brands. --Dr. Risco is impartial. If all the brands that the patient has tried are considered good fit for him/her, then Dr. Risco would put all of those on the prescription. By the way, the contacts are usually cheaper at COSTCO. My recent 6 months supply from COSTCO turns out 60 dollars cheaper than online supplier such as 1800contacts. read more

I've been hopping around year to year looking for an optometrist I'm going to keep. Truth be told, I'm a hypochondriac when it comes to my eyes and I'm constantly nervous of every flash I see in my vision. My problem with most other locations I go to is typically the lack of value and availability for appointments. This year, I decided to try Costco because of the convenience and proximity to work. Luckily, I was able to get an appointment next day at a convenient time with Dr. Wong. I must say I think she's great. She seems like a thorough doctor that makes sure the details are correct. I explained to her my issue and she patiently listened to my explanations of how I see odd obscurities in my visions. While I've had this issue before, she was the first doctor to explain to me the specific reason why I see that issue happen, and also explained what type of symptoms I should be looking out for. Knowing both an explanation of why I see what I see and what I need to be on the lookout for has given me more peace of mind. My experience was positive and I will continue to go to this location for further eye care. read more

Might have to find a new doctor, Dr. Risco now only comes in on Wednesday's and it is not easy for me to come in on that day. I have tried other eye doctors in that facility and they seems like they are new, like they just graduated from eye doctor school or something. The optometrist was great and I was in and out quickly. My issue is with the girl at the front desk. I called to make sure they took my insurance before making the appointment. She said yes. When I showed up, I find out they absolutely will take it, but they're not in network(this was discussed after I saw the doctor). I found that to be extremely misleading and used as a way to just get me in the door. Make sure to ask that specific question of if they are in network, so that you don't get that unpleasant surprise when it's too late. read more
