I saw Dr. Vanessa Kuriki for my routine eye exam and I absolutely loved her. She's the best eye doctor I have ever seen before. She was patient, kind, extremely thorough and informative. I had never been to an eye doctor before that actually takes their time with me. She explained what she was doing, explained how my contacts and astigmatism works, and even explained the Lasik process to me. The office is nice, clean, and staff is friendly. Located within the small Manhattan Village mall and easy to find with plenty of free parking. I highly recommend Dr. Kuriki and I have found my new eye doctor! read more

I recently went to this optical office and I left there very disappointed because the way I was treated by the person in charge of insurance an prices a Spanish speaking person made feel like they don't want my business he was very sharp in his answers in a bad way I used to go here and there were a couple ladies that took her time explaining insurances and costs this person Gilbert does not know how to treat people and should not be in the front office period he made feel like I didn't belong there because of the type of insurance that I have before me and all my family used to go there for all our eye needs but we move and now we are back in town but I guess things change not for the better,What a shame. No longer a great place to go! Sat and waiting for the optometrist to come in, it was lunch time. You should not schedule appointments if it is lunch time. Also, they certainly don't have the same crowd they had before. DAMIEN, person working at one of the front desks has a smart mouth and is very condescending, not helpful. Ask him a question and he will turn it around instead of answering it which is a part of his job. Not sure why he is a front desk employee, he should be behind one of the closed doors working or find a new job. The look on his face was wrong for customer service. Another great experience with the Stein team. I took my reluctant senior mom to go with me to choose new and needed glasses. Jeanie spent the time with us to show different styles and explain clearly the various options for her prescription. We never felt rushed and my mom was comfortable making a great choice. This is the spot for QUALITY glasses but every pair I have gotten from them has held up wonderfully. The price is well worth it for the item you wear on your face every day . Another plus is they have a great team who will pull up your insurance and make sure you get rebates and such on my contacts. I've been for eye exams and purchased from Stein on at least 3 occasions going back over the past several years. I was in a few weeks ago for an exam and ended up purchasing a set of prescription glasses as well as prescription Oakley sunglasses which I've now been wearing for about 3 weeks. I gotta say, the doctor and staff were all great. They were prompt, attentive, knowledgeable and thorough. After several years of coming to Stein Optometric for all my eye needs, I'm sad to have to write this negative review. The customer service I was met with today was horrible. Almost 2 weeks ago I made an appointment to have an eye exam and get new glasses. After some phone tag, I scheduled my appointment for today. I arrived early and waited outside to be acknowledged and to be let into the store. After waiting, I was met by a very rude front desk associate; she was a brunette, petite female. She asked, "what do you want?" I explained I had an appointment for an eye exam and I needed to get new glasses. She pulled up my information and told me I didn't need an eye exam as my previous Rx was still valid. I asked why no one told me that over the phone when I made the appointment. Nonetheless, I was happy to hear my Rx was valid as I wanted new eye glasses. She then proceeded to tell me in a dismissive and rude tone that there was no one available to help me get a new pair of eye glasses! She said they were all booked up for the day! I didn't understand how they could all of a sudden be all booked up when I had made an appointment for that slot. For context, I'm a new father and have a newborn at home that I have to care for. I explained I arranged for a babysitter to make the time to get to the mall and that I really needed new glasses. I asked if I could wait. I was willing to wait outside until someone was ready to help me with my eye glasses. She said, "no! and there's nothing we can do." She had no interest in providing customer service or finding a possible solution. The whole appointment was a complete waste of time. During these times of Covid, we all are doing our best to stay safe and manage our essential errands. It's imperative businesses provide decent customer service and solutions to issues. I got an eye exam and contact lenses fitting in early July. It was easy to schedule and the optometrist was friendly. They didn't have my trial contact lenses in stock so I had to wait for them to be shipped. When I went to the store on Monday (about a week after my exam), I picked up my trial lenses and purchased a pair of glasses. They said my glasses would be ready in 1-1.5 weeks (which I thought was very long for glasses, but since covid, most things are backed up so I understood and gave them some grace). When I called them that Wednesday, I said my trial lenses were great so I wanted them to send my prescription via email. They said their scanner was down so I'd have to come in store to pick it up. I thought that was very strange, but again, gave them the benefit of the doubt. The following Tuesday, I called because it had been a little over a week, but there was no answer. I called Wednesday, no answer (called multiple times). I called Thursday, no answer and I left a voicemail for a callback. I called Friday, no answer. At this point it had been over a week and a half. I was pretty annoyed and didn't know what was going on. I went to the store that Saturday to find that they had been closed all week with no explanation. They had no outgoing message saying that they were closed all week and I received no notification from them that they would be closed the week I was expecting my glasses. I very rarely get upset with businesses (especially healthcare places) because I know how difficult it can (especially since covid) to run one. However, they were unprofessional and not helpful. When I finally picked up my glasses and contact prescription, they didn't take my measurements to make sure my glasses fit and they were pretty rude. All this to say that I'm never going back and I hope people can see from my experience to try out different optometrists before going here. read more

I have been going there since they first opened. I used to see Dr. Stein, Sr. and now Dr. Stein Jr. My husband and I had our annual eye exam Saturday and it was a wonderful experience. Dr. Stein is extremely honest and explains everything in a simple fashion. We never feel rushed during the examination. I went back to Stein Optometric in February for new glasses. They have a versatile collection and Jeannie helped me pick out frames. I'm hopeless when it comes to matching colors or knowing what styles look good on me, but she helped me pick out beautiful frames for my face shape and skin tone. That might sound boring and safe, but the frames we decided on are actually very unique and I get tons of compliments on them. Most importantly, I like them and I didn't feel talked into getting them. The billing team also helped me with an itemized receipt that I needed to show my insurance company. Stein Optometric Center has been so good to me. I was referred to them by a family friend of the Steins after moving back to LA last year. At first, my eye was red for a long time and I needed a medical visit. I saw Dr. Ong and Dr. Nguyen on separate visits, and both were great. The front desk staff were always very helpful with scheduling and payments too. After having just moved from a different country with no job yet, my insurance situation was not ideal but they helped me figure everything out. I felt very taken care of. More recently, I needed to get an updated exam for both glasses and contact lenses. It was very quick and smooth, and I was given sample daily contact lenses to try which was so useful. It helped me realize that my eye redness only truly went away if I used the dailies rather than my 2-week lenses. I planned to order from a big contact lens website, but after inquiring I found out it was actually cheaper for me to buy through Stein. They were so helpful in getting my new vision insurance to cover what they could and then also giving me the Acuvue rebate rewards information. I was hesitant to get dailies because they are expensive but they're totally worth it - now I'm FINALLY able to wear contacts everyday again for the first time in months and I'm so happy! Also, when I went to pick up my contacts I asked some questions about my glasses prescription afterwards, and the woman helping me was really thorough. She helped me try on my new prescription and gave me honest recommendations that benefitted both my eyes and my bank account. She gave me more daily contact lens samples to make sure they would work for my eyes before opening my new boxes so that I could still return them if necessary. AND, when I got home I realized she had even tightened my old frames (which are not from Stein) when she went to the back with them. How nice is that! I'm sorry I didn't catch her name, but I really appreciated all her kindness. I always feel like everyone at Stein is very accommodating, efficient, and competent. One of the resident doctors on site, Dr. To, reached out to me via yelp and was very apologetic. He said that he had a meeting with his fellow staff members regarding the importance of communication so that no one else has an experience like I did. I appreciated that he not only reached out to make things right, but also took action to talk to the team. While I get the vibe that they are high class and did not care for me since I do not look the part (that might just be in my head since I was in Manhattan Beach), they are a business that listens to the concerns of their customers. I had my first visit with Dr Jon Stein today, and was very impressed with the thoroughness of the examination, the organization and friendliness of the office staff, and the very large selection of frames. When something unexpected showed up on my exam, Dr Stein went out of his way to arrange for me to get an additional study immediately, so that I could avoid scheduling a second visit later. The optician who helped me pick out my frames, Mike, did an excellent job of finding a stylish and reasonably priced frame that fit my small face and flat nose bridge. Really liked the way the doctors explained every step and walked me through everything they did

I was a bit scared after reading the recent reviews - but it was too late because I read them after I went in to take an eye exam and purchase glasses already. :o Anyhow, my experience was not bad at all. Unlike my previous place where they always made me wait at least 30 min even with an appointment, I was taken right away for an exam. Once the exam was done, I was explained my insurance benefits/coverage for frames, etc in details. I was told my glasses would be ready in about 2 weeks. They actually called me 10 days later that they were ready for pick-up. When I went to pick them up, yes - they don't use computer to manage the status or anything - all done by small paper cards, but the clerk located my glasses right away and they came in a case.
