I've been going here ever since I've moved to the South Bay. The staff here is awesome. They provide great service and are accommodating. I can't imagine going anywhere else. Would recommend to anyone in the South Bay. They are near the corner of highland and manhattan beach and have a few parking spots on the side of the building. Dr. Stahl is absolutely brilliant. He was able to get one of my patients from a 20/100 to a 20/20 in custom contact lenses when the patient hadn't worn contact lenses for years. The patient had received incorrect prescriptions from other doctors, but Dr. Stahl found the perfect prescription the first time and the patient was even feeling so much more comfortable seeing his world in general. Dr. Stahl accurately diagnosed my vision and prescribed a conforming lense that works perfectly for reading a book, computer or papers on desk. I could not be happier with the accuracy of the lenses he prescribed. His office also hosts state of the art eye diagnostic equipment meant to prevent serious eye issues before they happen. First time here. 5/24. Thus far the process here has been extremely easy. Called for an appointment was greeted by the receptionist with delight over the phone. I was asked about the different days and and times available. Once my appointment and time were confirmed with the reception, I was reminded via text, email and a call. What a great way to have different reminders involved! Once I had my appointment I came in was greeted with a smile and got paperwork to fill up. The optometrist Dr Melendrez was amazing. Not only did I feel at home but I also was able to interact and have a nice chat about my eyes and my problems. And was able to issue suggestions on them on the fly. The exam was quick. I called inquiring about Lasik, and was told they offer free consultations. When I arrived for my appointment they said I was mis-quoted, and that it would cost $120. I purchased a pair of beautiful frames and owned them for only 6 months before the leg broke off due to a faulty piece. I tried to use my 1 year warranty only to be informed that the frame supplier said they would not be ready for over a month. This was not something I could be flexible with because I am dependent on my glasses for work & driving. Dr. Stahl is a professional who took matters into his own hands. Within two days he had worked something out with the supplier and had my glasses ready that Monday. Doctor Stahl as well as Dr. Melendez showed me that they honor customer service by continuing to improve their relationship with clients and always trying to better their business. read more

I have been a patient here my whole life (30+ years) and can't imagine ever going anywhere else. They have their own parking lot which is HUGE in Downtown Manhattan Beach, they are always willing to go out of their way for you, and always willing to adjust sunglasses or regular glasses when they get bent out of shape! (in fact, I didn't even know you could do that until they offered!) Dr. Volmer started this practice by treating everyone like they were family, and that feeling is still very much alive! My usual Dr was booked up so I thought I'd try an available yrly exam and get 2 sets of new lenses only. I found my own frame on Internet and updated an old frame. The office wasn't outwardly unfriendly although one clerk switched the down payment from $200 to $250 when I returned and I called her on it and she reverted to the $200 partial payment. She didn't give me any receipt at end of initial visit so I asked her to write the total price of the 2 new sets of lenses down. I did look at new frames on their website which seemed cool. But I haven't seen a Gant shirt in 20 years and this was on of there premiere frame manufactures. When I tried a pair on the looked poorly made compared to my old French made Robert Marc's. I had insurance but their add on fees seemed hundreds of dollars more than my usual dr in culver city. I add thin lens and progressive but they were still out of line 600+ from me plus my insurance coverage! There's more. The lens was cut wrong on one pair and had to be redone. Both sets of lenses had strange white border that I asked to be removed so my glasses looked like they used to. Without asking me this office added $60 to my bill to remove the white look on edges of lenses. On one pair this didn't even look successful. Upon consideration what this office really needs is a warning from the better business bureau and a look at there permit by the city. Simply not giving paperwork listing costs is probably illegal. read more

Dr. Melendrez has been my Optometrist for about 9 years. He is kind, considerate and professional. The office has a relaxing waiting area with flat screen tv and complimentary Keurig coffee. Although there usually isn't a wait because they have always been on time with appointments. Office hours are conducive to most work schedules. Insurance billing has always been taken care of without a hitch and the selection of frames is adequate. Dr. Melendrez deals with a patient "on the level." There is no push to buy or pay for services other than is necessary. I would highly suggest this office for Optometry needs. read more

Bad shopping experience! Clerk didn't give me any receipt/paperwork. Quoted deposit $50 more when I returned. One of 2 sets of lenses needed to be redone because of obviously sloppy cutting. They should have noticed and sent them back without embarrassing themselves. Strange white color around lenses. I asked that they be removed and they tacked $60 for polishing on my bill without asking. Their charges for everything were ridiculously high and dwarfed my insurance coverage. $600+ from me for 2 sets of lenses?! One last thing: you can browse their frames on line but the quality in reality is poor. Gant is a premiere designer here. I haven't seen this brands clothes anywhere for 25 years. Not exactly cutting edge. Whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I should have walked out after seeing the long-haired, disco-shirted Dr. read more

I picked up two pairs of glasses today that I had special ordered. Dr. Stahl went out of his way to order me the designer frames that I wanted,and when i picked them up the price was less than I had anticipated.
