I have been going to Elements Optometry for years now. The customer service is always five stars. This year I requested a particular shape of lenses which took Gerardo from Elements on a mission to see if he could get them. After calling the lab and speaking to several people, he learned they did not have the template for the shape I was looking for so he called the manufacturer got the template, and had them sent to the lab so I could get what I want. During this entire process Gerardo kept me in the loop communicating all of the details every step of the way. Gerardo is so kind, courteous, detailed in his communication and determined to provide customers with stellar customer service but not only that, his aim is to get you what you ask for. Super impressive. In a time when sometimes it feels like customer service is dead all around you, you then have an incredible experience with someone who cares about their job and cares about their customers. I wanted to support a local business so I tried Element last year. The doctor was great and had tech/tests I hadn't received before. The front desk experience could be better. Constant text messages and emails prior to appointment to confirm the appointment (I made a few days prior) and fill out insurance forms online. And required more when I arrived. When I asked for the prescription, I was told to go login online. Less messaging and DIY would be nice from the neighborhoods optometry. read more

Not only do they use state of the art tools to check your eyesight, the optometrists are so kind and really take their time explaining everything they're looking for and what they see with you! Beyond that, their staff is so knowledgeable and helpful. I recently lost my new pair of glasses, and I'm getting ready to go out of the country and needed a new pair as quickly as possible. The staff went above and beyond for me in order to make sure I am able to see on my multiple week trip! I was so excited to try this new place for my annual contacts and eyeglasses exam. I was able to get an appointment pretty quickly and Dr. Jang was very nice. I placed an order for glasses during my appointment as they offered 20% off with same day purchase. Great selection of frames- although a bit on the pricey side- lots of funky designer frames. I chose a purple Tom Ford one and with the highest quality lens set me back about $550. I was very frustrated there was a bit of a delay in getting them (was promised a week turnaround) because there were problems with the lab and lenses, so they had to be sent back, but grateful to Dr. Jang for course correcting and the heartfelt apology. I am glad to be supporting local and will be back for my annual appointment next year. read more

I've been going to Elements for about 4 years but I'm considering finding another place because there are just a few things that I don't love. For the pros, I've always found the front office staff to be very kind and attentive. They're friendly and helpful and I do love that I can text to schedule an appointment and they're quick to respond. I've enjoyed my appointments with Dr. Jang too. For the cons, I don't love that it seems like I'm sold an additional product every time I have an appointment. Most recently, I had an appointment with Dr. Vuong who told me I needed an eyelid spray. She asked me if I had any questions about it, which I did; it wasn't clear to me why I needed this and if my situation could be improved without this additional product. But when I asked her the question, her tone sounded like I was an idiot for asking the question. I tried again to ask it differently and she seemed exasperated that I wasn't getting it. Then she asked if I had more questions again, but it didn't really feel like she actually wanted to answer my questions so I just said no. And finally, I get that they're trying to make money by selling glasses. But sometimes it feels like perpetual upselling once you sit down to discuss what you want to do. So not only am I supposed to buy whatever additional product I am sold in the appointment but it feels really difficult to try to get information about what my insurance covers without the perpetual addition of things I don't need. I wish they were a little more clear. Is it enough of a pain to change optometrists when I only go there once a year? I haven't done it yet but after this most recent experience, I'm strongly considering it. read more

I went here out of location convenience and it was the worst optometrist I've ever been to in my life. This place is pure greediness, dishonesty, lack of compassion, and desperate to sell you things you don't need. Dr. M. Catarina Jang was unpleasant the entire time, cold, and aggressive greedy sales. Rude. No warmth. Completely unfriendly. She does not come across as female friendly and she screams hater/jealous female. She made up I had mites on my lashes bc I had them tested at a reputable and friend referred Dr in Newport Beach immediately after that said she was wrong. Read and believe the reviews of this place. I had an amazing experience getting my eyes checked, was really cool the doctor showed me all the pictures of my eyes and all the cool nerdy stuff. I loved that. I felt like I learned more about my eyes and what I can do to keep them healthy. My doctor recommended a new pair of daily contscts that I absolutely loved and cannot believe I've lived this long without them. Matt and Sherri were so unbelievably helpful at every step of the way in getting my dream pair of glasses. I also got an extra pair for blue light blocking!! I have been coming to Elements Optometry for some time now. For my glasses, I have primarily interfaced with Matthew who has been very knowledgeable and great all around. The entire staff has always been kind and helpful. I did not like wearing contacts before, but Dr. Vuong has provided a great contact fit and now I no longer have issues with wearing contacts. read more

Went to see Dr. Vuong at the home of her new practice in Hermosa Beach. The whole experience was great. The front desk/assistant was super personable and efficient. I got an appointment after work hours within two weeks of booking. She set me up for my appointment and explained the whole process. And, Dr. Vuong is always great. Kind and patient, she explains each step and guides you through the process. There's no hard sales pitch here, but Shari will help you find the right fit for your face. Dr. Kapust rocks. I have gone to him for about 10 years. Recently I had to change insurance and thereby change optometrists. It truly made me sad. I always feel like Dr. Kapust really cares about my eye health and also gives good advice when it comes to frames. He actually tells you if something doesn't look that great. Today I realized that I'm on my last set of contacts and the place I recently went to wanted to make me come in for another exam. No time for that. Luckily I called Dr. Kapust and he was able to send me my contacts. Now THAT is service. It's nice that after over a year, he still remembers me. The Dr. was ok, although, I didn't understand having to wear a mask when entire staff was not wearing one. That didn't make sense to me. Very awkward communication - like what we were doing next was confusing. After my daughter had her eyes checked, we were walked out front. No direction on what we were going to do next. A woman walked out and introduced herself - said it's time to pick out glasses. So, I told me daughter, let's take a look. I was abruptly stopped in my tracks, and informed that NO...we do not look at glasses ourselves, she does. She picks them out and then we look at what she has picked. Was not asked about budget, etc. If my daughter was not with me, I would have lost it...but, I stopped talking and sat down. It was beyond unprofessional and made me feel so uncomfortable. I've never been talked to like that, in that condescending way. My husband was in the day before and failed to mention how weird his experience was. Had I known, I wouldn't have went in. read more
