Dr Risco charged $89 for practically a 5 min contact lens eye exam. A number of Optometrists informed me that an optometrist cannot properly examine any patient in 5 min because it involves many steps, check your vision, astigmatism, eye pressure, retina... Dr Risco also said that she would give me different contact lenses to try on to see which ones fit best. She gave me only one pair and never checked for fit and told me that they were only 15cents each and left the room. I regret that I ever went to Costco for eye exam because if anyone knows better, Dr Risco's exam is not appropriate and not standard. If you don't know any better, she scammed you by talking very nice but cut corner. I learn that eyes are one of the most important parts of your body and having inappropriate exams are simply dangerous so beware. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Risco for several years now and have only good things to say. She was the first optometrists to test and diagnose me with a rare eye disease, which eluded other optometrists. She's professional, quick, and caring. Now I insist on seeing her for every visit- and she's great with my 10 year old too. read more

About the Optometrist: You get what you pay for... Don't expect amazing service and professionalism! It's great that the eyeglasses exam was only $49. But I have no idea who my optometrist was. He never introduced himself. I waited over 30 minutes for my appointment I made and then the whole exam took 5 minutes. I feel like he kind of threw me out of there as fast as he could so he can take his lunch break. Right when I paid and stepped out of the door, they closed the door with the "Out to Lunch" sign. Also, during the exam he flashed this bright light DIRECTLY into my pupil and I was partially blind for a long while. He made me stare into the light for at least a minute (it is literally like staring at the sun). I've never ever had any optometrist do that. But hey...it was only $49. I will also point out that the equipment seems a bit outdated. I've been to places with newer equipment and techniques to make it feel like they're not torturing you. But yeah...like I said, it's only $49 for exam... About the glasses: Such a good deal here! I typically spend $400+ for glasses at other optometry offices since I require special lenses but I only spent around $160 for my frames & lens. Can you believe that??!! A friend of mine recommended I try this place for the prices and I was honestly expecting really cheap looking + ugly frames if it's going to be at a low price. But I was wrong; they have such a large selection!! They even have cheaper versions of the expensive frames you want :) The staff behind the counters are friendly and courteous. read more

Terrible service & rude staff. Made appointment and was told they take VSP from one staff member. Came in for appointment, filled out paperwork then was told rudely by "Brenda" that they did not take "private" VSP. She was not helpful in tying to get Insurance verified. Unlike many of the other visitors who spoke about how unprofessional & unsatisfactory the service was from the staff, I had a different experience. Living in LA, we all know just how terrible the traffic is, so I was actually about 5-10 late to my eye exam. I called prior just to let the ladies know, and made sure I got there in enough time, without moving too many cars out of my way, to be seen by the male doctor. Upon my arrival, I was greeted with a smile and was immediately seen by the doctor, who obviously did my eye exam. Aside from the $20 that you have to pay just to get a picture taken of your eye, which isn't necessarily necessary IF the doctor verbally tells you that your eye for the most part is okay, the service was still pretty decent. I didn't notice that he seemed to be in a rush, but that didn't really bother me because I made sure that he answered all of my questions. Once I got to the outside area where they collect your prescription, a lady by the name of Kimberley helped me and gave me AMAZING customer service. Maybe it was because Costco was about to close or because I approached her with the same respect I expected to receive from her. Who knows? Anyways... 4 stars seem suitable for this visit! I kept one star to myself because of how in a rush the doctor seemed. I do like the female doctor more, but hey, that's just me being a sexist feminist!!! read more

I LOVE this optometrist office. Ten years ago I switched our family (adults plus 3 teen girls) from a higher-priced practice. To be honest I expected to pay less and get lower-quality care. But I quickly grew to love Dr. Risco and her team. The care is thorough and high quality. At first I only chose Dr. Risco as the founder. She has gotten pretty busy, so now I make appointments with her other docs and am just as satisfied. The optometrists are smart, caring, have all the latest equipment, and the price is amazing. Our family has glasses, contacts, progressives and the occasional eye infection. Impressed at every visit. Appointments are shorter than perhaps a pricey retail location. But I've never felt short-changed or rushed. Inside Costco but Costco membership is not required. Highly recommend. read more

We found Dr. Risco on Yelp. My husband and I had a negative experience at another Costco optometry office, but Dr. Risco restored our faith in Costco's optometry services. Her office is staffed by a nice and experienced team. I went to see Dr. Risco for both eyeglass and contact lense exams. Dr. Risco is smart, patient and knowledgeable. I am happy with her contact lense recommendation and was very impressed with the new branded solution she recommended. Even when my company finally offered free vision care I continued to go to her Costco office (which isn't covered by my insurance). Just because Costco pricing is cheaper than a traditional optometrist doesn't mean you're giving up any quality of care. I've been going to Dr. Risco for about 10 years now, for yearly contact exams. I've always found her to be very professional, and she does something rare in the medical field - she actually takes the time to listen to me when I bring up an issue, and then she addresses it in a way that I can easily understand. She is never dismissive of my concerns. I'm only in my 40's, but I've talked to her about what my eye health will look like down the road as I age, and she's been great about telling me what concerns might come up, what to be on the lookout for, and what probably will not be an issue for me. Any doctor that treats me like I'm intelligent enough to have a peer-to-peer conversation with wins my loyalty. Be aware that there are some prior reviews who mention the staff at the counter where you order glasses and contacts - those people are (were?) Costco employees and have nothing to do with Dr. Risco's office. Her office happens to be within the Costco store, but her office is independent from the Costco store. read more

So my visit today frustrated me enough to make me write a review. On my first visit for a contacts exam I was extremely happy with my time spent in this office and with how helpful Dr. Clark was. I would give a five star review based on my first visit alone but due to today I simply cannot. Today I has an appointment at 3:00 pm to pick up my trial contacts and get a lesson on proper use. I arrived ten minutes early and was told they would be pushing me back till 3:15 pm. A little bugged but thankfully the office is in Costco and I could walk around to kill time so no big deal. I came back to the office at 3:10 and waited another twenty minutes while other people who were not there when I originally arrived were being seen before me. I was not a happy camper anymore so at 3:30 I told the lady at the desk that I needed to cancel and was not even given a sorry for my time that I wasted there today. I'm giving three stars because it would be unfair to base my experience solely off of today, but if that were the case then one star is all I would have given. Gonna call and make another appointment once I have my work schedule and hopefully the service is on par with my first visit. read more

For my mom's birthday, I want to get her a new prescription and new pair of classes. I got off from work early, and I called this afternoon if they had walk-ins today; the woman on the phone said yes, just be there before 5:45 pm. We had done a light shopping before we went in. The front desk with the green scrubs and both arms cover with tattoos was rude. Asked if we had an appointment, I said nope, just walk in. Then she gave an attitude that it will be a 45-minute wait because there are two people ahead (it was 4:50 pm), I told her we don't mind waiting. I filled out the paperwork and an appointment showed up. The green scrub said, it will be over an hour, wait, and asked for us to come back later; try back at 6:20 pm. I said we don't mind waiting here. She looked at me, like a disgust on her face, said "sit here?"- I said "yes, here." The doctor saw my mom at 5:30 pm - the doctor was quick with his patients. The other girl with the maroon color scrubs was nice to me and my mom, I giver her props. I would say to others out there, be firm and at the same time be respectful when confronting a troll. The maroon scrub girl and the doctor were cool folks, but being it was my mom's birthday and the tatted girl was rude, I have to give two stars. read more

I like this optometrist and the office. I've been seen by Dr. Clark and she was nice and friendly. My primary complaint is who the Drs. choose to staff at their office. They have the MOST GHETTO receptionist. I had an eye emergency, possible cut in my eye and I called the office to see if ANY doctor was available to help. The first time I was put on hold for 10 minutes, no lie. I had to call back and tell the receptionist that I was on hold for 10 minutes. After a sorry, she wouldn't tell me if this is something the Drs. have experience with, and to just come in. Nothing along the lines of, OK let me check in and I'll get back to you. I guess I would have even been ok with it if she would have explained things to me. This is the first person that people see when they come to your business, it's a shame. The last time I was there, she was talking on her cell phone to her friends while I was waiting. I'm sorry, it's not break time, no one wants to hear about your weekend plans. So rude. read more

Doctor Risco is great but the staff gets a FAIL. They cannot print legibly and even transcribe your prescription incorrectly. Such horrible penmanship that it's difficult or impossible to tell a 9 from a 4 or a 7 from a 2. They even may write minus instead of plus! Have each number verified by the doctor before you leave the office! read more

Dr. Risco is amazing. She's very professional but she's also one of the nicest people I've had the pleasure of meeting. I went in at a peak busy times (you know how costco is on the weekends) and despite having non stop patients and no lunch break (i actually had no other time to see her so her staff squeezed me in), she was as kind and thorough as id remembered her. She went out of her way to make sure my eyes were in perfect health and that I would get the best care to address my concerns. I left with the most comfortable pair of contacts I'd ever worn. It's important to me to have a doctor that I trust, a doctor that makes me feel comfortable, and a doctor who is genuine about taking care of her patients- dr. Dr. Risco has been my optometrist for awhile however due to lack of insurance, I had only been going when absolutely necessary. I decided to get the Lasik procedure done and was thrilled to find out that the office I had chosen, works with Dr. Risco and is preferred for follow ups. I was quickly scheduled for my pre-op exam and given honest expectations. She called me after my surgery to make sure all was well and let em know she was always available should anything go wrong. She backed that up with her cell phone number advising that she truly was available. After the surgery, a few of the things she warned me about, happened and I knew exactly what to do because of her. What might have scared me, like sparatic blurred vision, didn't because I already knew why it was happening and what to do. My follow ups have been a breeze and things are going perfectly. She even supplies me with lots of drops which encourages me to keep my eyes lubricated. She is thorough and helpful but never makes you feel rushed or like I was just a number. Dr. Diana Risco has been our Optometrist since 2002. She is outstanding in every way - she is so thorough and gets it right the first time! In addition, her "bedside" manner is to be commended - too bad all doctors are not like Dr. Risco! Last year when I had my eyes checked, I had a cataract in my one eye. With her suggestion if my eyesight got more blurry, I may need surgery. She was right on, both of my eyes had cataracts when I decided to get this taken care of. I had laser cataract eye surgery in both eyes performed by Dr. Rex Hamilton / UCLA Director of Laser Refractive Center (he's the best I found in So Cal after searching the So Cal "planet"). For those of you who need this type of surgery, Dr. Hamilton installed Tecnis multifocal lens in both eyes and now I can see far / medium / close without glasses - 20/20 vision. Thanks to Doctors Risco and Hamilton, I am now free to roam about the country with my "new" eyes. We truly appreciate Dr. Risco and we are so grateful she is still at COSTCO.
