This place is awesome! Many years ago, I bought a pair of hard-to-find vintage, 1970s metal-framed aviator "Planet of the Apes" sunglasses. The lenses were foggy and one kept popping out, so I shelved it. I found it today and took it to My Optical Shop to get the lenses replaced. The woman (she had me in-and-out of there so fast that I didn't have time to get her name!) confirmed the type of lens I wanted and estimated a return date that was really fast. 30 minutes later, I received a text from her that the sunglasses were ready for pick up! Back again! This time my mother in law's frame was broken thanks to our baby. The lense was out and the frame itself was broken. My mother in law even mentioned if it's too expensive to fix just to let it go. And of course George the owner saves the day once again! We got there and he quoted $20 and 30 minutes to fix. He got it done probably in 15 minutes or maybe less. It was completely fixed and fits perfectly. I was just amazed. There's no word to express how happy and satisfied I am. I first met George and bought my glasses from him a few years ago when I was visiting Rendondo Beach. I needed new glasses this year and wanted something unique. I wanted rhinestones actually imbedded in my thick prism lenses. I could not find an optician or eyeglass company who would do this. I turned to George, and he worked with me and went out of his way to accommodate me. I live in Colorado now, so there were many e-mails and phone calls back and forth. My wife has a pair of Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses. One of the screws that held on one of the arms was lost. The screws that come in these little repair kits would not fit and a local hardware store did not have a compatible screw. I called up "My Optical Shop" and they told me to bring in the glasses, which I did. A lovely young woman repaired them with a proper screw in a few minutes. This small & cute mom-and-pop optical shop is located on the southwest corner of Torrance Blvd. & S. Prospect Avenue. There is a small parking area next to the shop and there should be a spot available during any time of the day. A nose bridge on my titanium rimless glasses broke so I took my broken glasses to this shop which I found it in Yelp. George, the owner, inspected my glasses and informed me that I would need to buy a new frame since the broken part cannot be re-attached. I was then shown two new frames to choose from, and I left the store that day after choosing one of them. When I went back to the store next day for a pick-up, he informed me that he was unable to install the lens into the new frame because of some screw issues; however, he was able to install them into another frame which he has personally chosen. Fortunately for me, it is a much better one than the one which I have originally chosen (George, I truly appreciate your hard work and thank you very much for your excellent choice!). Overall, George was very friendly and I felt very welcomed at his store. Only suggestion which I have is that I wish he took more time at the end to provide me with some time trying on my new glasses in-front of him for any necessary final adjustments (FYI...I had to make a couple of minor fixes by myself at home.). I am guessing that maybe he was with another customer at the time, or he may have thought that I was in a rush...??? Anyways, I think this may be a perfect store to visit if you would like to support one of your locally owned businesses. The bracket holding the right side ear piece broke and they were able to solder it back together. I came here the other day because of the good reviews on Yelp. I have a fave glasses I use that costed me close to 400 just the frame. So Ofcourse it's something I would like to repair. The metal piece that holds the glasses and arms broke.. there is a screw that can unscrew it and possibly replace. He didn't really inspect it, but just looked at it and said "I can't fix that.. what I can do is put that lense in another frame in here.." I was like.. oh no.. this is my fave pair and I don't want to replace it. He made an inappropriate joke (I personally think it was- I was with my teenage daughter) and said.. "That's what I said about my ex wife and I had to replace her!" Ummm.. I don't really see the joke in that as I had never been there before and I personally do not know him to have that type of jokes. But whatever.. I looked around.. and I don't see my glasses in there or near close... We are in a pandemic.. where I guess the job of fixing my glasses is nothing to him so he would much rather sell. That's fine... but I thought this place has good rating because they can fix glasses. But he didn't even attempt to inspect my glasses. I felt his joke was inappropriate and it have no idea why he felt it was okay to say that... so I am writing this to express this behavior can make people (women) feel uncomfortable, let alone I had my teenage daughter with me.. what a way to provide a customer service and show this type of behavior in front of kids. Geez.. maybe become a bit more sensitive aye? Or show some kindness to customers coming in... I could actually be a potential customer and refer this place to people. But I have no idea why this place has good ratings on here. The guy is straight up UNPROFESSIONAL!! If you are trying to get your frames or fave pair of frames here fixed... don't bother.. I guess maybe if you are trying to replace it with whatever left over stock he has sure... but I wouldn't even do that. Also I'm sure those who wear glasses knows how it is to find a fave pair of glasses because sometimes it takes a minute to find that perfect pair. Well this owner shows no empathy or compassion whatsoever... he wears glasses.. but looks like he doesn't understand connection. Anyway... he even dared to tell me.. you can go anywhere around.. NO ONE can fix your glasses! Thanks to social media... I found salt optics (an amazing eyewear company) and asked them if my glasses is repairable.. and guess what?? They said yes... my glasses is no longer under warranty but their technician can fix it and can advice to where if I don't want to send my glasses there. So... this place (George) is supposed to be an expert, with optics and glasses? I don't think so. Rude, inappropriate and bad service. So P.S I am not one to give out bad reviews on Yelp... but I'm honest. I use this app a whole lot in my travels and just locally. I trust reviews because it comes from real people. Ofcourse you can see occasional fake reviews or whatever... but you can tell usually. Also I'm all about small business and local, sadly I cannot recommend this place. I came into this place with a positive happy energy and came out of this place feeling uncomfortable and a crappy vibe. Sadly I can't give this place any good word, at least for those who are looking to get their glasses fixed. I'm sure if you would like to purchase one, maybe you can find some old stock mediocre glasses here. Personally the service was not good at all, nor friendly, nor helpful. So Happy with this shop!! I had a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses that were "gifted" to me a few years ago, they never really fit my face. I like them so much, so I wore them today and as I was driving past My Optical Shop, I stopped in to see if they could be shaped to my face.
