To start, we walked in and they made us wait to be seated when the restaurant was completely empty and then forgot about us until we asked what was going on. Overall, we like Jimmy Changas. The food is good and we don't normally have to wait long. You can tell there is not a good culture among the employees there. We eat there probably once a month and EVERY TIME WE ARE THERE, the servers are complaining and mad at their hostesses, runners, etc. There's 1-2 pleasant hostesses/greeters but the others are rude. Seems like there's an overall lack of good leadership there. Hope they get that taken care of. read more

Had the beef and chicken fajitas at the Katy location. The food was fine and the service was excellent. The fajitas for 2 people at $40 is a little high in my opinion, especially for the quantity received. Not an exceptional value, just ok as the food is ok, but not near Pappasitos quality/flavor, but their fajitas for 2 would cost more at Pappasitos, but you'd get more food for you money that tastes exceptional. The warm/fresh flour tortillas are the same as Pappasitos, so I liked that a lot. Unlike Pappasitos, the restaurant was not packed at lunch so to make it impossible to talk. Therefore, I'd bring customers here vs Pappasitos if I needed to discuss business and they wanted Tex Mex food. read more

Came to lunch for some Tex-Mex and fun! We enjoyed the Gorilla Peppers as the appetizer. They were super hot and sweet from the bbq pulled pork and spicy with the jalapeño. I enjoyed the ribeye street tacos that had the perfect char and well seasoned. My husband enjoyed the chimmy, that was generously stuffed with beef fajita and topped with queso. We enjoyed our lunch and had great service. Would definitely recommend both plates! I gave the rating 4 stars bc we miss out on free ice cream; no one made us aware of ice cream. I would have to say, this place wasn't bad! I've lived in Katy for awhile and was looking for a different place to try. This was close by and it was quite enjoyable. The whole building itself looks really kiddish and same goes for the interior but that didn't really bother me to much. It's a kid friendly family restaurant. Service wasn't bad. Our server was constantly checking up on us! He seemed nervous and forgetful. We didn't even get silverware's until our meals came out but he got us everything else! haha but I loved the green sauce that was served with our chips & dips. He even packed me extra for take out after our meal. We opted to share the el captain platter. It had pretty much everything! Chicken, shrimp, steak, crawfish sauce?! Great place to grab a bite and a margarita if you have kids. The playground on the patio is genius and the food is pretty good. Not top notch, but never had a bad experience. Margs are a little pricy but they have a good selection and get the job done. Service is very good as well. We had Richard today. Young man, nicely dressed, seemed intelligent and was very polite and attentive. I give him a gold star. Again, food was good but didn't knock my socks off. I give it a 8/10. Will be back. read more

Went to Jimmy Changas (in Katy, Texas) for a benefit dinner for a local paramedic and let me tell you that the service was absolutely PHENOMENAL! I'm going mainly harp on Emma (our server) but let it be known she did have occasional help, but in my opinion didn't need it... and she was taking orders from like 40 people (at different times) *Even the manager Chris was helping refill drinks, chips, etc. But Emma was at the top of her game the whole time. She NEVER ONCE had a look of being overwhelmed, never got irritated, she genuinely rolled with the punches. Emma even took care of other guests that broke away from the group. Reason being it was hot as heck back there!! Please get some ceiling fans back there! Emma gave the kind of service you only see in commercials. She rocked!!!! She was a perfect mix of profesional and fun...AND she never took her eye off the ball. I left her a $10 tip because she totally deserved it. I will ask for Emma the next time I go back. I think the reason this restaurant has so much business is because of its location, not because of its food or service. We had a very nice waiter the other night, but he was lousy at being a waiter. We ordered water and cocktails. Nothing arrived. He wanted to take our meal order and we said we'd like our beverages first, he finally brought them. My gin and tonic had no lime in it so I asked him to go get me some lime. We ordered our meals. One of them did not come until we were almost finished eating. Another fajita dinner looked so undercooked, it looked raw and disgusting. It had some kind of weird sauce on it made it look like pot roast. I got a fajita salad. It was OK, so so. They never refilled our water glasses or ice tea glasses. I think it is the worst Tex-Mex place in Katy, no need to ever go back. read more

My wife and I love Jimmy Changas and we drug a friend along with us. Nobody else breads and fries shrimp, chops them up and recreates them inside some tasty fried shrimp enchiladas, my wife gets these every time. I enjoyed the rio grande special, short rib carne guisada with grilled onions, a cheese enchilada, a beef taco, guacamole and queso, our buddy had the best fish tacos she says she's ever had and she loves fish tacos. They also come with two colossal fried shrimp on the side. Great taste, food was warm and the service was good. Chips and salsa were really delicious. I had to wait here and there for refills because that didn't seem like a priority to the server unless I asked him for one. Will definitely go back! I'm going to try some drinks on my next visit. I have visited at couple of times and each time I have tried different meals. You have the option of inside or patio seating, I have tried both but today it was way too hot to sit outside. Today I ordered the shrimp quesadillas. They were delicious. They give you 8 quesadillas with pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole. I have also had their enchiladas at a previous visit and they were very good also. It is a family-friendly restaurant where military, veterans and first responders get a 50% discount! Military or veterans must present a valid ID. First responders must be on duty and in uniform. That's great of them to do so. There is also a spacious Jimmy Jungle playground for the younger children. I have only gone for lunch but the service has been top notch every time! read more

Amazing Tex-Mex! I was thoroughly surprised with how exceptional the food tasted. I was visiting from out of town and went with my grandma and cousin (he suggested it). While waiting for our food, we asked our waiter to refill the chips and salsa Three times! It was that good!!! My grandma had shrimp tacos which she really liked. My cousin and I had the Bad Daddy Chimi which had the tenderest fajita beef ever. The entire combination of the plate was delicious. They also had an ice cream machine for dessert (free ice cream!).
